God Bless you Ken...Memories be Eternal 🙏🕯🙏
looks absolutely lovely 😁I will be making a batch. Thank you for the easy to follow instructions 🙏
Great recipe and always get many compliments! Thanks Ken! :)
Love these cookies first introduce by my first Landlords.in Queens New York , they were Greeks and soo caring and beautiful people. It was during Christmas and the lady came down to see us and brought a plate of different treats , it was delicious. Then I venture to go inside the one famous corner Greek bakery/ restaurant / cafe at the time in Queens, New York, Omonias Cafe and I fell in love with everything. I am very selective with my palate, I really think I was Greek in another life. Thanks so much for the recipes, I can wait to make them.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Will try to make it... one of my favourite greek sweet.. thank u for sharing
Well done! I’m going to bake this cookie ☺️
I made it. FANTASTIC! Thank You, Ken !
+Branka Simić Hey Branka, great to hear and I'm glad they turned out for you!!!!! Enjoy....
Cheers,
Ken🇨🇦
Thank you for sharing! I love your recipe and professional demeanour! I will definitely make these!
Thank you so much Gladys for your comment and kind words!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Very much appreciated...
Love this recipe. Nice and simple. Traditional. Thanks Ken.
Thanks very much Gina…. 🙏🙏🙏
A family friend used to give us a box of these cookies every Christmas until she became too ill. For years I would find our young daughter with icing sugar around her mouth and on her clothes when she stole one! The last year our friend was alive, my daughter and I made them and delivered them to her; a very poignant moment. She gave me her recipe, but being so ill it was pretty cryptic, and the cookies were a bit .... hard. Thank you for sharing this recipe. Although none of our family is Greek, our Christmas just wouldn't be the same without these to leave icing sugar traces all over the house!!
Thank you so much Sioned for sharing that beautiful story 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Merry Christmas to you and yours…. 👍❤️🙌🙏🏼🎅❄️☃️🎁
That’s a cute story.
I made these without the icing. Tasted better and less sugar for no insulin spike.
Ich liebe Kourabiedes🤤🤤🤤 ευχαριστώ για τη συνταγή 🙏
🙏🙏🙏
I just ate kourabiedes for the first time and they were delicious. I can't wait to try your recipe. I just love everything about your videos - the pace, your commentary, unpretentious, etc. Thank you! :-)
Ken died in February 2022 in Ontario Canada. Probably got the dreaded experiment. RIP.
Thank you Ken, this recipes is great. We made the most melt in your mouth Kourabiebes with your recipe. I also love to use salted butter in baking, so glad to hear that it's not just me. Happy Easter.
Thanks very much and Happy Easter to you!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I love these cookies! My aunt (by marriage) came from a Greek family, and I fondly remember going over to her mother's place on Christmas night, where (a) the old lady greeted us kids with a big sloppy kiss, and (b) a plate of kourabiedes! Their family did Christmas in a very different way than ours ... lots of people, lots of drinking, lots of amazing (to us white-bread types) food, dancing and laughing.
Great story!!! Thanks for sharing....
My kind of Christmas, Grandma, family, food and laughter!!!
Experienced that as a child, which was great, now my cousins have families of their own and we never see them! Memories!!!
Those look really good ❣🇬🇷❣🇬🇷
Thanks Cynthiea!!!! They are and they’re really easy to make....
I make these similar to my grandmothers' she didn't add almonds or alcohol to hers, and made the S shape always, very tradional shortbread!!! I make my shapes the easy method flaten the dough and use a cookie cutter!!!
I am not a fan of choc chip cookies, never buy them, but yours look delicious!!! So many recipes around for this type of cookie, so i guess whatever works for you, thanks for your video!!!
I just happened on your website and my eyes widened so I sent your link to my brothers because you look so much like our Greek father that I almost choked..My dad's grandmother and mom used to send us these cookies at Christmas since we lived on the West Coast and they lived near Boston. What wonderful memories.. THANKS for the nice surprise!!
Awesome story.... thanks very much!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Bravo..I had never made kourabethes before and i loved your tutorial. It was easy to follow and my kourabethes came out perfect. Thank you

Thank you for sharing your recipe Ken! This is my favorite biscuit. I just made it first time, I really love the way to show us, clearly explaining, love the taste. But my biscuits come out with a bit dense in the middle, could you please show me how to fix it next time thank you very much and Happy Easter
Thank you so much for this recipe!! My great grandmother used to make these all the time for my mother but since she passed my mum hasn't found a recipe that is as good as her grandmother's until I made this recipe for her!! She loves these so much, she nearly finished them all in one sitting

Pre-heat oven to 350*f/160*c
In a large bowl or mixer add softened butter and egg yolks and mix well
Add icing sugar, brandy and vanilla and continue mixing for 3 minutes
Add half the flour and mix slowly for 3 more minutes
Add remaining flour and almonds and mix for 5 more minutes
Form kourabiedes into desired shape and place 1" apart on parchment paper lined baking sheet
Bake @350*f for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned
Allow to completely cool and sprinkle liberally with icing sugar
I make mine with unsalted butter, ouzo and crushed walnuts. I’m impressed that for a Greek male, your very good in the kitchen
Hahaha thank you Mary…. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you! This is great! I remember my grandmother using rose water. Or maybe your metaxa replaces that. Not sure. Kali Anastasi!
Yes, rosewater and orange blossom are also traditional, but then it is usually spritzed on after baking while still hot, with a spray bottle. My mom used anise seed oil in hers... if you like ouzo flavour, you would love hers...
I'm an 80 year old Greek and i love to use salted butter too. My Greek lady friends TELL ME IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS, THESE ARE NOT AUTHENTIC GREEK KOURABIEDES BECAUSE OF THE SALTED BUTTER. I tell them I'm 100% Greek and they definitely are authentic. 😋I use my grandmothers recipe very similar to yours with Anise oil. I enjoyed your video.
i like korapye..whe i make it never i put egg....i will try this recipe..thanks for sharing..
Thank you Cristeta…. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Love the recipe. If I may offer a tip to get a perfect half moon shape. I spread the mixture onto the board. Using a small glass, something like a sherry glass cut the mixture by pressing half the inverted glass onto the mixture.
Perfect uniform shaped cookies
Yes. I do same
My beautiful Greek grandma made these she would sprinkle rose water on the cookies as they cooled, then she would sprinkle the ice sugar, so delicious 😋
Hi Ken, these look delicious! Can I use something else instead of the alcohol? Thanks.
Hi Ken, I use ouzo and crushed walnuts.
Ken I love watching you your recipe are so easy
Thank you so much Anastasia!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
There seem to be so many versions of this cookie. The version I have has Anise extract (or Ouzo) and grated lemon peel. Your version sounds very good - I'm going to try it ~ Happy Holiday's to you Ken ~
Thanks so much!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
yes... my mom's version had anise seed oil in hers as well as the toasted almonds... amazing flavour... only hard part is finding anise seed oil...
Will be making these , can we make them and place them in the freezer or how many days in advance will they keep fresh ?
Hello Ken hope your doing well! Haven t seen any nee recipes from you hope your ok? I have a question for the kourabiedes you don't put baking powder
I make mine in star shapes for Easter and name days, and for Christmas I make them into Christmas tree shapes
Me too sometimes… 👍👍👍
loved it especially the booze part. And the taste is great. I make all your recopies. When did you get lights in your kitchen.
Thank you so much!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi! I can’t wait to try your recipes, do you have written/printable versions? I checked your website, this one, among a few more... aren’t on there
Thank you so much!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I’m uploading my recipes to the website all the time. Sorry for the delay....
@@KensGreekTable I make these cookies but your recipe is a bit different than mine. I think I will give yours a try.
Thanks Ken, I gotta try your recipe but I'm gonna go visit the Greek shopping place and find the taxa or whatever that liquor is - and maybe go find some ewe or goat milk butter because my Greek friend says that's what his mother used! I realise now why mine are not quite right too because I never whip the butter first!
👍👍👍
Metaxa brandy. Or you can use cognac. Cheers. Merry Christmas
Hey! Love your recipes. Quick question: why no baking powder? How do they rise?
Greek magic and bomb engineering
Thank you so much for the recipe! I was wondering if you want to skip the liquor part…. What can I substitute with?
Thank YOU Susan!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 You can either omit the booze or add rose water….
I’m with you 100%! I only use Salted Butter 🧈. It’s not that “salty” and, that Touch of a salty taste, adds a hint of counterpoint in a sugary cookie 🍪. Thanks for using salt 🧂... which as it’s said about good people they are: #SaltOfTheEarth 🌎.
Thanks very much Deni!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
hello do you have the weight of the ingredients in grams?
Thank you
Hi, can you please do a video about your Greek coffee I love it so much but I don't know where to buy authentic Greek coffee. My favorite Greek place in Hatfield, PA the chef will make me coffee and is the only coffee that will stop my migrane headache in a second.
Actually Cecile, I do have a vid on Greek coffee lol

Hi Ken. I am going to make these for Christmas along with the Baklava. I hope they turn out as good as yours. Thanks
Hey Sarah,
That sounds fantastic!!! Just follow the vids and I’m sure you’re going to be fine:-)) Good luck and let me know how they turn out for you. I would even love some pics👍🙏🏼❤️✌️🙌
@@KensGreekTable Hi Ken. How do I share a photo?
As far as I know, right click and save LOL
Trying this now..
You say 3 cups of icing sugar in the recipe but only use 1 cup when making it.
Are the other 2 cups for the dusting?
Ingredients List:
5 cups a/p flour
3 cups icing sugar
150g slivered almonds
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. salted butter
1/2 cup Greek brandy
Method:
Pre-heat oven to 350*f/160*c
In a large bowl or mixer add softened butter and egg yolks and mix well
Add icing sugar, brandy and vanilla and continue mixing for 3 minutes
Add half the flour and mix slowly for 3 more minutes
Add remaining flour and almonds and mix for 5 more minutes
Form kourabiedes into desired shape and place 1" apart on parchment paper lined baking sheet
Bake @350*f for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned
Allow to completely cool and sprinkle liberally with icing sugar
Bravo Ken, great tutorial. You forgot to mention to the non-Greeks who've never eaten these before:
Remember! DO NOT inhale while biting into these or you'll be coughing up powdered sugar for a while :D
is there no need to put in baking powder ?? Please can someone help me out here ??
Saw that some Greeks are using OOzo instead of Metaxa. Is it ok?
+Branka Simić Absolutely!!!! Booze of choice LOL
Instead of coñac what could I use to replace it in The recipe?
You can use ouzo, mastiha or just omit it...
I think my YiaYia is the only one who didn't put nuts in their cookies.
Ken, do you have an easy recipe for koludia?
Elaine, Yes I do actually.... I’ll be doing that later this fall:-))
My other mother (Greek next door neighbor) never used nuts, but she used almond extract instead of vanilla. Another delicious way.
Haha That’s for sure!!! Recipes are never carved in stone...
Do you need a mixer? Could a spoon be ok?
You can mix with a spoon Laura but a mixer just makes it easier....
Se puede traducir al español.
Your link for the recipe no longer works. Was hoping to print out the ingredients and instructions,
How long did he Cook them for?
About 15-20 minutes. Sorry lol forgot to mention that in the vid....
Where can we get your written recipe?
Thank you for your question!!! Currently, I share my recipes online only in video form. Eventually I hope to put out a cookbook. Thanks again:-))
Cheers,
Ken🇨🇦
Is there a substitute for the booze
You can omit the booze and extra use vanilla or almond extract...
Thank you Ken and I love your videos every recipe I've tried has been fabulously delicious
🙏🏼❤️💪✌️🙌
When you say CUP, what it is? 200 ml or 250 ml?
+Branka Simić 250ml 👍👍👍
That makes sense :) Usually, i am avoiding recipes with "cup" because one can never know the exact measure, and that is the main reason of failing. My suggestion is to put the measure in grams together with "cups' (ie. 1 cup of sugar/80 grams).
+Branka Simić 👍👍👍
write the recipy here please😢
Working on it ASAP....

Oh Kiriakos. Kalo taxidi
...?
No no no! Round balls! Dough should be very dry
My yia yia taught me. You ROLL them in powdered sugar! And never inhale when taking a bite!
Haha thank you for your comment!!! (I think)....
Chocolate chips…..really!!!!
He never said how much sugar 🤷🏼♀️
One cup. In the first couple of minutes of the video he outlined how much of each ingredient is needed; he forgot to mention it again as he was mixing it all.
All good but to much sugar in the dough you only need a Greek coffee cup of sugar just a friend ly suggestion
There is no receipy.....
