Growing up my wonderful Greek neighbour would bring us a plate of these once in a while. My favourite day of the year! You brought back very fond memories💕
This is the best sweet in the world. I used to harass my Greek friend to prepare this for me. 🤣 Let’s see if this recipe is as good as my friend’s because I’m picky! Haha
Aww this was just fantastic. I have looked at dozens of recipes for these and while they were all good in their own way. You 2 beautiful ladies win hands down yay! Why? because these biscuits had that most special ingredient of all ...LOVE.. anything made with love always tastes better. Also you said the name of them in Greek an that to me is important. Efharisto poli... Keep up the good work yiayia you are bloody awesome!
These are my favorite biscuits!! Thank you for the recipe. Is there an alternative I can use instead ouzo? Also do the almonds have to be raw or roasted?

Dearest Yiayia you remind me of my beautiful Greek neighbour who always gave us a plate of Christmas cookies, Easter Cookies, and everyday cookies for coffee! And by the way, what kind of Yiayia/nonna doesn't sream in the kitchen hahaha lmao:)

G'day, hasanah Ahmad! I tried the Google translator from Greek into English for Yiayia Maria's reply, but had some difficulty in understanding how her words related to your question. I then Googled about what to use in lieu of ouzo and it said anise-flavored Italian soda syrup (Sambuca) can be used. Hope this helps.
Merci beaucoup Yiayia pour votre recette et votre bonne humeur ! J’avais perdu ma recette je vais essayer la votre. JOYEUX NOËL 🎅 🎅

do you have to put ouzo? what does it do....can it be made without?
Is cornflour also known as cornstarch?
Try the vanilla paste it's much nicer than Imitation Vanilla.
No egg yolks? No whipping the butter?
👍🏻🇬🇷😍
Is Corn Flour what we call in The Americans Cornmeal?
Can we substitute ouzo with almond essence?

Is that plain flour?
Where’s the receipe
Where is the recipe?
What is ouzo
A Greek alcohol that has an anise or licorice flavour, similar to sambuca.
That is not the original Kourabiethis.
