It took me more than an hour to set up mine.. you went so fast lol thanks 😮
Took me 3 hours of starting, stopping and rewinding the video, but I got there in the end. Thanks.
Appreciate all the watch time haha! Enjoy!
Just got my Z6ii and have never shot video. This was so helpful. I’m planning to shoot some video at a charity golf tournament. Than you Zach!!
Awesome to hear Vicki! Glad you found this helpful!
I've actually been kicking around the idea of filming a Nikon Z6ii Video School series. Maybe ill get around to it one day 😄
Extremely helpful 👍🏼
Thank you very much. Very easy to follow.
Much appreciated, thank you!
great video thank you for taking time to make the video
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful
Thank you
Greta material 😮
Good video. Very informative. :-) Quick question. Why can't I turn on image stabilizer? Using exactly the same settings as you show here.
Great explanation, Zach. Did have a question. Do you set diff max ISO when in auto-iso mode? I noticed 24 fps went to 640 and 60 fps went to 1600.
I haven't messed with the max iso setting. I kind if just let the camera figure it out and embrace the noise lol.
Absolutely helpful! I wish there were more videos like this on RUclips from camera reviewers. BTW I would like to know what is the lowest shutter speed setting that camera offers in M mode at 1080/25p , 2160/25p and 2160/50p respectively. In short does it allow slow shutter during movies recording? Thanks!
I think you can only go 1-to-1 on the z6ii. 1/25th sec for 25fps 1/50 for fps etc. I think you can go slower shutter on the z8/z9.
@@ZacharyEldridge Thanks for the quick reply! One to one is enough for me. Keep up the good work!
bonjour, wery helpfull video for me too. did you also noticed the switch on/off is quite strong to set to on compare to off ? thanks
I can't say I've noticed that before. Strange!
Do these settings apply the same if you are shooting in 1080p and not 4k? Thanks for your help
Yes, these settings would apply to 1080p as well.
Just did a shoot today and saw that the 4k 60 does crop into a DX mode. To get that fixed, just move your quality over to 1080p if you're uploading to RUclips. Otherwise, if you're using a 14-24 or 14-30 lens, you're in effect getting a 21-36 or 21-45 on your z6/z6ii
What would you recommend for video at a pottery festival, outdoors. Don't need audio. Great intro!
No audio? I'd go 4k 60 or 1080 60. This way you can slow down footage to 40-50% in your editing software to make it look smoother.
Most importantly, think about what kind of video you want to put together before you shoot. That way you can shoot with the edit in mind.
How is the Z6II af in 2023, Im a Nikon DSLR shooter (D750) I am contemplating buying a A74 or A7R5 mainly for the AF. I keep hearing mixed reviews on the Z6II.
A decision to upgrade is largely driven by the desire for a new or different model to achieve a better or easier result.
It depends on WHY you're upgrading. Is it IQ, is it video capabilities, is it AF??? What are you currently unable to do with your D750? TbH it's a great camera and I regret selling mine.
Sony AF is certainly top notch. The Nikon Z6ii gets it done for me 98% of the time. To switch.. well you just have to decide if the move is worth it based on finance/effort. Is the move worth it for what you gain?
I've definitely struggled with the decision to completely change my system up, but for what I do the pros never outweighed the cons.
Stay tuned for some Nikon announcements soon though... a z6iii may be on the horizon that lays AF concerns to bed.
I switched from Z6ii to A7IV and I have no regrets.
Z6ii autofocus is absolute garbage compared to Sony. And yes, when I had the Nikon I also often stated that the AF is fine for what I need, and it was. However having used Sony now for 3 months it’s crazy to see just how bad the Nikon actually was.
For photos I'd 100% agree. For video... idk but I've had a good experience with the Nikon. I have a sony zve-10 and I don't find it to be THAT much better when shooting video.
Not saying sony af isn't better... because it is.
Now... 10 bit internal recording with LOG... thats what I really miss out on with z6ii. Does A7iv have this?
Nikon raw weak processing on Lightroom. I'm facing this colour issue with the D750 and Z5. Nikon must work for that. overall best camera for portrait Photography.
Your video is extremely helpful. I understand you do your settings in the Manual (M) mode. What about the Speed (S) mode? In the Speed mode, I am unable to change the shutter speed. At 24 fps, the shutter speed is stuck at 1/30 and at 60fps, it is set at 1/60. I am unable to double the speed to follow the 180 degrees rule. Why is it not possible to change the shutter speed in videos as it is the case with photos? I am curious. Also, what is the difference between the Norm and High in the movie quality setting? Thanks
It's a limitation of the Nikon Z6ii (S mode for video) which is why I stick to M- to give me that degree of control).
Norm and High determine the bitrate of your video file. Higher bit rate means better image quality, less artifacts g, etc. With how cheap storage and cards are I recommend always shooting at high bitrate to ensure the best quality possible.
I stick to M, but stuck 1/25 ,can i set lower
Zachery , I am getting this message There is a problem with the video file . Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Nikon Z 6ll
I would start by trying a different card to see if it’s the camera or the storage that’s the problem
I would like you to explain what each button does?
The manual that came with your Z6ii should have in depth descriptions for each of the custom settings we map to different buttons in this video 👍
If you don't have the manual I think you can download it from Nikons website!
Can i change shutter lower 25 s?
On the Z6ii I don't believe so. It is possible on the Z8
Dual card video recording Tips ??
Unfortunately this is not possible at this time. Video can only be shot to 1 card at a time.
Hi sir
I don't have 2160 at 60? I'm not sure why
You may need to update your camera if 2160 60 isn't available to you.
@@ZacharyEldridge Update will not help cause she have maybe first Z6 like me
Wow I thought this video was for beginners
So, a decent video; but is misleading to call it a video settings for beginners. I think you need to get more basic if you want to say it is for beginners. This to me was more intermediate and I agree with one person who commented it would have been good if you did some settings and then showed examples of what those settings achieved.
I would prefer if it you told us what you want to achieve, and then show us how to do it.
Too fast...
Yes it would be good if you told us what sort of video you are settign up for.
You cannot cover every situation in one video
But you didn’t explain how to actually shoot a video. Just the settings…
