- Poteger is a 17th century french term for an ornamental kitchen garden or vegetable garden. In this video see a small poteger garden evolve from the initial design all the way to harvest. Planted in a 10 ft by 15 ft allotment in a community garden, this is a great way to be creative while growing food.

😁
Thank you for sharing the beginnings and the final stages. I also liked how we all have to adapt when things don’t go as planned. That is a very cute dress, love the fraid hem.
Thanks! We are all certainly learning to adapt these days. It's a good thing to practice. Glad you liked the dress. Target.
I like your garden layout very much. Thanks for sharing!
Glad to hear! Now that the growing season is over, we can say that it was quite efficient (as well as attractive).
I love this video! Thank you for sharing.
I'm so glad to hear that. Thank you!
Love the use of onions as dividers!!!
Yes, they work great to provide a crisp line. I don't know of any other veg that would have the same effect. Garlic? I guess they are all in the same family. 😉
🥕 Perfectionists at its finest! 🥕
🌿🙂
I love your garden layout very much. I will definitely be looking back at this next spring. Also, would you ever consider doing a layout and explanation like this for your home landscaping? I know you have a lot of areas so maybe a segment for each area.
Hi Alicia,
I'm glad to hear that you liked the poteger! I would love to do this for our home landscaping, but it is time consuming. Maybe this coming winter? I've had it on my "to do" list for some time. Thanks for watching and commenting!
This is perfect! I have been thinking about putting a poteger garden close to the house. I have a large garden at the back, but I was thinking of using that garden for all of my canning vegetables and the poteger for everyday use. I love the look of them. I have been kind of struggling with a design idea, so now I am just going to steal yours. I am going to steak it out in the fall and get it ready for the spring of next year. Thank you so much for sharing all of your great ideas with people like me who like what they see but can’t figure it out themselves…🤣 love you!!!
Yay! I'm so glad you found the video helpful. The poteger is just so much fun! The onions are an absolute key to the design. I love sharing gardening ideas, and hearing comments like yours make it very satisfying. Thanks for letting me know! Happy gardening! 🌱
So nicely done 👍🏽
Thank you! 😊
It's a beautiful vegetable garden.
Thank you! Isn't it just fun to grow vegetables like that?
Very cute!
Thank you! It makes growing the vegetables fun for us.
Thank you so much for sharing.
You are quite welcome. Thank you for watching!
Your cabbage is absolutely gorgeous! My dream is to grow a big healthy cabbage. I've tried starting seeds in the ground and in containers with no success. Maybe next year I will try again!
Thank you Madison! Our community garden was closed this summer, but we are so very much looking forward to growing lots of vegetables next year assuming it reopens. It's fun to already be thinking about next year. 😊
All the best!
It's beautiful, great job! I'm wondering where you are located or which zone you are in? I'm in North Louisiana, zone 8b and I'm guessing from the veggies you chose that you are much further north. Our snow peas, broccoli, cabbage, kale, carrots, etc. are all dying out by May here. It's fun to see what people grow in different parts of the country/world.
Thank you so much! I am in Minneapolis, Minnesota which is USDA Zone 4. It's not unusual for us to have a snow storm in April! Within the next week, we'll have low temperatures around 34 degrees. So, you are correct. I'll be planting my veg in about 10 days or so. Mother's day is sort of the time to plant out those tender annuals. Thanks for watching the video.
Hi! Just discovered your channel, love it and your gardens! I used to live in South MPLS and am now just over the border in WI. What variety snow peas are those? Thanks!
Greetings neighbor! Glad you like the channel. I don't do many videos, but I try to make each one special. The peas are "Little SnowPea White Pea Pods" from John Scheepers Kitchen Garden Seeds www.kitchengardenseeds.com/pea-snowpea-white.html.
4.37 is that a mouse lol
LOL, I saw that too - what a butterball, eating good living amongst all those veggie allotments, must be heaven for the little fella. ;D
😁. Yes, what a lucky little fella. I love what the camera picks up when filming (except for the airplane noise on many of my videos.)
Where do you live that you can grow peppers and Brussels sprouts in the same season?
Minneapolis, Minnesota, USDA Zone 4. It's not unusual at all.
