Ive been window washing full time for a few months now, these videos have been a lot of help TY👍💯
Glad to help
Steve, I've been using strait pulls a lot these past couple months. I forgot how great they are.. Cleans the glass super fast and does a great job.. Sometimes simple is the best. Love it.. Great vid man..
ACME Window Cleaning Company, San Diego thank you!! They get the job done and look great when you do it right!!
I've been at this 10 years and I'm still learning.. Thank you Sir.
28 years at this and I thought I knew it all. I used to take Sorbo and loseen the handle but that only came at a fixed degree. One day I decided to learn a new technique, and it was worth it. Took a while and some frustration but now it's a breeze. Much quicker. Less drips, runs, and soap marks.
Hey there Steve. You make it look so easy. I'm getting started and looking forward to trying and learning these techniques. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I'm a (New Guy) and I most certainly appreciate your video's, Thanks SteveO
...Cheers from Montreal ;)
Thanks Steve.
Watched before.
Been away from cleaning for an extended period.
Video was straight forward and very educational.
Just started a couple of months ago with my own company in windowcleaning and i learn a lot from you, keep up the good work👍👍
Thank you!!
Best Store Front Video I've Seen. Does the short feather pulls to create the dry spot to start his straight pull, taps the glass to knock off water from squeegee and finishes off detailing only the edge where he started his straight pulls. Very fast and effective, thats how you make good money!
Good to show all the different techniques. Nice video.
How It took me a full year to get decent at using the swivel, and zero degree techniques. I've been cleaning windows for 28 years. It was worth it. It is much better than straight polling. If you look for perfection this technique is worth learning.
It will also be faster in the end. Also good to use during the winter months. You can wear gloves, and use the pole to avoid getting your hands, and gloves wet. Anyone who has experience cleaning windows in the winter will understand. Water is your worst enemy.
- I’m just a diy homeowner. Thanks. This was Great instruction
I'm sure you're helping the older guys too. I learn from your videos. Thanx
Scott Wasinski thank you Scott!!
Thanks Steve for these vids. Your always on the ball buddy. I bought a Moermon liquidator 2.0 channel , but haven’t got it to work well for my technique yet . I’m a Sorbo guy all the way through. I think because the Sorbo’s have several notches they tend to hold more water before allowing them to streak as quickly maybe . The 2.0 streaks every fan stroke I’ve found ☹️Thanks for your help on the WCR online store too . You helped me when I bought yard signs a few months back .
First youtube recommended the s technique video from a guy in Utah and now this. I guess Google wants me to apply for a window cleaner job
Awesome videos as always. Really appreciate your time.
I have a problem with really dirty windows at the tops. I keep getting streaks coming down at the top. Any tips?
Im starting a job today with a window cleaning company so I didn't have a clue after this video thanks 😂
Thank you so much--just started my business and have landed a major gym franchise in so Cal. So this is realllllllllly helping me!!
Happy to help!
What about windows with a deep sill and not square but, angled at the top. I have a lot of these where I live. The really deep sill makes it hard to close out with a pole. Any suggestions? I'm trying to get better at it cuz anytime I don't need a ladder I'm Stoked!
Steve THANK YOU for taking the time to make theses videos I’m watching a few of your videos a day and consider it my school work on learning this trade👍😎
Miguel E awesome! I’m glad I can help!!
Cut in straight pulls is a life saver... no run down nothing. And, I clean hospital windows so there’s a lot of work that gets done.
Thanks for the video. I got a question. When I do a straight pull down I always get stripes even when I dry the side any tips?
Steve, I have a window cleaning account that has 4300 store front windows to be cleaned every month. Locations are spread out all over the Chicago Area and its Suburbs. I'm charging $1.00 per pane. Not making much. Whats the going rate for work like this?
great advice on detailing. Often i see people swiveling and the amont of turns are excessive vs watching people who use a wagtail handle. I have both moermans swivel handles but never really liked them vs wagtails so i would be lieing if i said i had much experience with it. whats your thoughts on the two handles when doing pole work.
I've just started doing this and have about 6 stores I clean any advice on helping start out i got a 16 in squeegee and pole. using a hamade solution any advice is appreciated
Hey SteveO 👋! I just subscribed to your channel! 😃 Thank you for your content and time!
Few questions?
Where do you live?
How much do you charge for windows? Store fronts and/or 2 story residential homes 🏡?
Do you charge more for water fed poles cleaning? How much and why ( if ) do you charge more?
Is the purification system Worth investing in?
Thank you so much!
Hey Stevo, thanks for all your videos. They absolutely help the new guys
Glad you like them!
Good work Steveo, I find when using the excelerator with liquidator channel I get lines from ends of rubber, any idea what I’m doing wrong?
Just try to clean my windows today.... wow what a mess I made..... I live in a 200 year old property in Scotland. I bought myself a telescopic pole that came with a squeegee and cleaning mitt. Currently staring at my streaky running windows hoping for some serious rain to come and wash away my failure. It’s Scotland it might happen 🌧
How do you not leave streaks behind without wiping the blade after each pull? Great job
Once you get a good feel for it, the streaks are minimal
What kind of mix solution do you use to clean glass windows?
Dawn Soap and water works very well
Gracias por tus vídeos, enseñan mucho sobre el mundo de las limpieza de ventas,yo me estoy iniciando en este oficio y para mí son de gran ayuda,un saludo cordial desde Berlín, Alemania
*_I find when I do side pulls horizontally I leave streaks behind I mus be standing to close or too far back... Any tips are appreciated.. Your technique is great_*
WOW that swivel tool was soo cool watching you use it.
Steve o totally agree!! The glide is perfect!! I was surprised!!! It gives you the confidence back in the squeegee!!🤙
hi steveO, i was wondering in what boab you keep your excelerator with fliq pads? looking to order the right one the first time. thanks
how much soap you use? jw.. ive got one of those buckets for 3 gallons and they dont say anything about it at work.. im guessing like one or two pumps from the industrial dawn dishsoap bottle?
Great Video SteveO (that's a good ol Australian nickname if I ever heard one!). I like the cutting out the sides technique. Never thought of doing that! Cheers mate
I watched your video which is filmed in 2014. In that video, you used wagtail. But these days videos in your youtube, you don't use wagtail. Would you explain why you don't use wagtail?
Perfect Dick Van Dyke impression at the start there Mr Steve! You do those straight pulls so quick and easy at the start, how the dickens do you pull them off so well. When I do them, after the initial pull down in your example I often leave may be a 2-4 inch water line on the left of the squeegee on the remaining pull downs. Do you just rely on the detail cloth to wipe those lines off or being a commercial clean are they just acceptable to be left? When working left to right like you here, I do tilt the squeegee down to the left when pulling to push the water to the right of the rubber. Also, when trying to pole 1st storey residential windows, I struggle to fan with the pole without leaving skips (excelerator and liquidator), do you come across this?
I just detail the top of the window when doing straight pulls, all I leave is a small cloud at the top which the rag takes care of. I can angle the squeegee just right to most of the time not leave a line but I prefer using the excelerator to fan upper windows which leaves no detailing. It is hard to get used to but just keep on practicing, I practiced a long time before feeling comfortable with it
SteveO The Window Cleaner cheers SteveO 😀
Brilliant for us newbies, I thought I wasn't doing it right, turns out I am.
What exactly are you doing when you feather the top? Are you pulling down and then lifting the rubber off the glass rapidly?
Jorge Chavez pretty much, it’s just building up a little suds on the rubber before pulling down.
Reduces the chance of a rundown drip. Great video!
@@jiffywaxjesus1951 I understand the purpose, I was curious about the technique. does the rubber remain in contact with the glass as you go up and down or does the rubber come off as you're going back up to pull down?
Hi another lovely video buddy like yourself i still do a fair amount of traditional window cleaning but predominantly wfp work......its good to have the trad especially for newer guys to the industry, an essential skill so im a great fan of pole work and its great to see you covering this 😊, also do you use window Skrims over in the States?, i use grade "A" skrims only on glass and thick micro fibres for any frame work here in the UK.
Brilliant videos mate and thankyou....Andrew
Yes we do have skrims here, the guy I work with loves them
What about frames that are dirty and large windows; what would you recommend? Thank you it's a helpful video
We wipe our solution off frames after cleaning the window but we only detail the frames at residential jobs mostly. For large windows I use the same technique
Hey Steve, ive been cleaning london, england for 20 years now, all the big buildings. Love your videos and glad you can show people how its done properly. Nice to see care for your job as a lot people say "oh i can do that" and quiclkly they realize , hey this is quite hard, no kidding.
Sean thank you 🙏
Awesome video. Thank you for posting. How come when I do straight pulls, there is a line of water on either side of the squigee on the glass after I pull down? Bad rubber? Thank you
You have to keep the angle of the squeegee the right way, ill make a vid on this soon
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner Thank you, yep, happening less n less. Keep up the awesome vids.
How do i clean a window that does not open from a neighboring window ? From
Thé side ? It’s Really hard to reach clean and dry before the sun leaves spots.
Really good video. Should really help some newbies out.
Thank you Jared!!
What do you do for high windows that have spiderwebs or harder messes such as bird droppings?
There’s always streaks from one end of the squeegee when I attempt straight pulls, either vertically or horizontally.
Angle your squeegee pointing down into the dry side
it's the "snow plow" effect - that wave of water you are pulling off that glass must go somewhere, one side or the other it will bleed off from the rubber of the tool, so just like a snow plow, direct the flow of waste water to the Yet to be Cleaned part of the window, which means the plow/squeegee will always direct water away from the previously cleaned side of the glass, even if this is 4 passes, you will have 4 progressively cleaned "lanes" clean dry glass always directing the stream of waste water to the next wet section, and away from the dry lanes, it doesn't take much angle to your plow... also always to the dry start like SteveO suggested, sometimes it's a finger and a towel, I just use by thumb like a tiny squeegee, make a quick clean n dry pass with my thumb, human skin when damn is a baby squeegee.
I am new to your channel and new to learning the window cleaning career. I love your videos! ...
I have been looking into making my first tool purchase to start and seen your "SteveO's Ultimate Window Cleaning Kit" on WCR... it looks to be very similar to these tools in this video! to my question...
do all the heads in the kit I mentioned already come capable of being attached to the included pole conveniently?
Collin Allen hey Collin!! Yes all the tools fit nicely with the pole in the kit!!
What's the best cleaning liquid or mix you recommend? Sometimes I mix water and vinegar.
Javier García water and dawn soap!!
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner Thanks I'll try this mix.
Donde se puede comprar el arnés que llevas ?
How can we get our sponge to not be so soaking wet when we first apply it and the soap to the window?
Hi Steve! Love the channel and tips. I’d love to know what brand of pole & squeegees I should invest in?
Hey here is a starter kit I organized if you're interested

@@SteveOthewindowcleaner what kind of tip is best. For residential. I am struggling finding a setup that isn't 4k that I can easily do high windows...
I feel its my cheap pole and squeegee but no matter what I do it leaves hella streaks and smudges.
Do you have a video on how to swivel with a pole. Yours looks so loose. Is it a matter of pressure and torque or is it actually loose. Thank you.
Yes, there are a few pole technique videos
Hi I am interested in the tools that you use? And possibly instruction video as to how to use them.
Thank you steve😊
Check out some more vids on my channel for tool reviews and techniques, I also have my favorite tools listed in the description of my videos
Very useful technics, defiantly trying a few you demonstrate. Thank you.
RJR Tapia your very welcome!!
What soap are you using?
can you post a list of your tools that you used here. you went kinda fast and i'd like to look into getting the same ones....thank you, scott
Hey Scott in the description I have links to all the traditional tools I use!
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner cool, thanks.
one other question: does the unger ninja come with a threaded handle (i dont like the push button release)? if you, can you recommend a good one that does have a threaded handle...thanky you very much...scott
Most people always think fanning is the way to go. Bt did you realize how long it took him to fan that transom at 3:45.? I rather straight pull with a good ol traditional 22 inch aluminum channel. You would do that in 3 swipes lol
You make that sorbo look so easy to use! I think we are gonna have to give it a second chance.
Reanna I wouldn’t lol the rubber sucks lol the Super Channel and alumax are way better!!
How did you clean frames?
Yooo brotha your videos have helped me a lot man! I appreciate it. I started my business 2days ago and have over 10 accounts. I guess I’m just having more trouble on what to charge customers 😂 but thanks man
Congrats! I’m just starting out soon. How did you get that many customers so quick?
@@MrCarguy427 I just got went out and talked to everyone and told them I would make there windows look amazing and I did! Just have to go for it brotha
Stevo mate you need to come visit Australia! Love your work
I have been doing window cleaning 18 years now great video dude you know your job well much respect from the UK
thank you!!
Nothing like a clean window
Good stuff, great techniques, thanks for sharing.
Whenever I fan on a pole I'm leaving little flick up streaks at the ends. I dont get it. Its brand new rubber. Only thing maybe is the rubber isn't straight enough in the channel but it looks alright to me maybe slightly curved but surely wouldn't be causing the amount of streaks I get
Nice work buddy
Luke The Window Cleaner thanks bud!
Master of window cleaning technicue....all the best Steve.:))))
Thank you. Very helpful
I feel like I just watched Bob Ross wash a window
Very helpful as always, Thank you very much.
hi fantastic work question what's the largest wagtail squeegee you can use on a pole. thankyou regards Brad TreeOfLifecleaning&maintinace..😀🤙
Brad Cruise I think 18 or 14 inch is the most adaptable but I’ve seen 24inch wagtails
I love how you talk about your equipment as if you're talking about guns or specs on a computer! 😂
I still gotta use glass cleaner and paper towels cuz all i do is leave streaks with a squegie lol im a maintenance guy at a grocery store
What brand squeeje you use?
Hey Steve o, just got some baron rubber!! It works really good in the Sorbo channels!! Thanks for the tip bro!🤙
Danny Wilson where did you get it???
Steve o, window cleaning world in Sydney Australia and also the squeegee called eureka quad pro uses the baron rubber!!
Danny Wilson very nice, the glide is so much better than sorbo rubber
The thing i hate the most is wipe the side because sometimes the window side is dirty so you are picking up that dirt and secondly I am not sure what kind of towel to use I normally use brown hand washing disposable towel and I use a ladder when I have second floor windows to clean. Also the rubber of the squeegee after just a couple of use is leaving streaks I have to put tremendous pressure on it. This job ain't no joke you really need to know what you are doing with the right tools otherwise it is a constant fight.
very true, I have a lot more videos on my channel of the correct tools, towels, etc. that make the job pretty easy if you want to check them out
Thanks, it's really help.
I tried using the moerman excelerator with the pole and by hand but it leaves two water lines one on each end, any suggestions?
Got the same, you got an idea already how to fix that?
Very helpful, thanks much!
Killing it I love your tutorials definitely agree with everything you said
Riley's cleaning service thanks Riley!! Hope your doing well!!
Riley ..... you're ok in our book man 😎 Hope this doesn't get you into trouble
SteveO The Window Cleaner thanks man yeah im doing awesome. Its spring in the west baby. Lol
Luke The Window Cleaner LOL hahaha oh well if it does lol guess we'll find out I appreciate you guys as well keep up the good work glad we could put all that garbage in the past
Nice work than you for the tips
Great vids thanks for showing a new guy like me, just do not seem to be able to not leave marks at top of window when i do straight pulls, help, unlike the pro steveo
Kiwitown mowing it will always leave a “cloud” at the top that’s what I call it, detailing it with a towel removes the possibility of drips but to really eliminate it all swivel pole tools are the best
Nice vid 👍
How come you never have to wipe the blade off... I always have to wipe the blade or it leaves streaks or smudges... what am I doing wrong.or is it the equipment
Leaving solution on the rubber gives it better glide and if you angle the squeegee correctly it wont leave a line down the window
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner what do you mean leaving solution on the rubber. This is exactly my same question. I always have to use a towel.
Great vid. Very helpful thanks steve
May I know how much you charge for that size of panels?
Typically $3-$4 in/out
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner are you in the USA
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner 3 4 dollars? The larger ones? How much the small ones?
Great video! Thanks.
How much Glycerin do you add to cut down on evaporation?
Kevin Brown in this video I’m not using it, I only use glycerin in the summer when it’s really hot
Great video m8
Glad you enjoyed it
