Great vid ! The voice commentary is a nice addition, as it adds more of your personnality in the video !
I agree. Gave me a few chuckles too. Thanks for brightening my day
I agree too
Olivier, your commentary adds a lot of value to the video. The video shows what you did. Your commentary tell us why you did it, and reveals something of your character. So often we see videos of people making perfect bowls. In reality we know that woodworking is about solving problems. It's really good to see someone resolving a problem.
Oh I just love when you are talking and explaining. And the humour! Love it! 😻
The bowl is exquisite! So glad that you didn’t throw it on the fireplace (that you don’t have 😂).
I have been your fan for a long time. Hearing your voice is like meeting you in person at last. And the bowl is gorgeous! Thank you so much! :D
Well, pleasure to meet you then!
I've watched dozens and dozens of your videos and learned a lot from the text overlays. Your naration has WAY more information. I appreciate it much more!
Been watching for years. Love the narration! British saws, French saws, American saws... all made in China. 😁
C'était une boutade
I like your ideas “keep it simple stupid” also like the voice overs 🎉
Really beautiful bowl, nice job! One of the reasons I subbed is that you aren't resin-ating everything like many other woodworkers. Narrated or not, both are fine. And besides a Bugatti Mistral or Rimac Nevera, I'd be happy with a Mini Electric Convertible.😊
Ok going from the Bugatti and Rimac to a Mini Convertible, I wasn't expecting that lol. But I'm with you for the Rimac.
Love bowl!! You have a fun, sly sense of humor so your narration or text is always enjoyable! I hope you find your perfect wood shop soon, with a supergiant roomba to vacuum up all the wood chips!😁
Well Done Oliver! Nothing like driving a 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback, or turning a wood bowl to help you enjoy life.
👍 #176 Hearing your voice is definitely a plus. Your ability to overcome every challenge found within the logs you turn has always amazed me.
Beautiful stuff. Incroyable! And love your clap back at the glove police. Modern work gloves are not our grand father's work gloves.
Love the voice reveal, the commentary and the saw joke. Keep up the good work Olivier !
(I don't have a favorite car.)
Oliver: I second those who appreciate the narration. Thanks so much.
1:50 "it looks like my saw is from England" Amazing
The bowl is just pure magic!
You are right. It's your workshop and You will work to your own safety feeling comfortable is very important.
What ever car you get if you love driving as much as I do get a manual transmission
Well done, the bowl is lovely and it's a really creative solution! I like your comments. :) I'd like a Porsche Taycan or Audi e-tron GT. What's you're dream daily drive?
Beautiful bowl. I love the grain running in different directions with each ring.
Oh my word, this Wormhole table is the most exquisite piece of woodworking I’ve ever seen. Absolutely magnificent!!! Well done
It's great to hear your narration to explain what's going on. Another great piece.
Totally agree - as someone who doesn’t understand much about woodturning, I really benefit from the explanation 😂
I always appreciate the design effort you put into your work. I like the additional narrative.
A new Corvette. I had a 1966.
I like your narration and humor in it. As for epoxy I don’t use it. I’m a woodturner . Not a plastic turner. But everybody should do what makes them happy. You are very creative in your projects so I will be following you ( no stalking😋)
The bowl is beautiful. Much better than burning the log in the nonexistent fireplace. The narration is good, because you narrate as you work, not stopping to tell us your every move. Looking forward to seeing your new shop. Please keep the videos coming sooner rather than later.
Love the narration, love your sense of humor, love your work. Keep it up.
Your projects have always been spectacular. Your voice over keeps me watching the whole video and not rushing to the end.
I really like this format! Great job editing, as always, and good for you for not quitting! 💪
Love your respect for the old timber. Not to throw it in the non-existent fireplace, but to give it new purpose. British dentition is always a good joke
This is a beautiful bowl 😍, I always watch your videos in full and to hear your voice is an added bonus. Thank you for sharing with us.
A 1938-44 Mack ED pickup truck would be my dream car. But probably not the best daily driver. This turned out nice, even though it’s far from what you had imagined. Great way to change directions and still end up with a beautiful piece.
I was pleasantly surprised when the video started and you were talking. Love the narration and your honest and direct comments. Your channel has too many beautiful and unique items you have made. No need to follow any other you tuber. Great job.
I watch your videos for the enjoyment. Not to critique.
You do beautiful work, thank you for sharing.
1973 Pontiac Trans Am. I still miss that car.
Great recovery on the bowl design, always adaptable, the wood certainly talks to me. Thanks for sharing.
Lotus Europa please. And yes, I do love the new format. Did not know you were French. And the “if you don’t like it, then go do it differently” attitude. Keep those gloves, brutha. You do you. 😘
1976 Corvette Stingray. Couldn't really drive it here in winter, but still a dream to have. At one point the bowl made me think of a Greek amphitheater, because of the way the layers are set and the changing of the grain reminds me of marble. It's a beautiful bowl, and I'm glad you could find an alternate use for the wood.
I like the voice over! Great to have a voice to a face. I love your videos even though I’m not a wood worker. You’re very creative. Not using globs of epoxy on everything makes everything much more polished. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
BMW 5 Series, 6+ cylinders, and adaptive cruise control.
The V/O is an enjoyable and welcome addition!!
I like the change of plan. A great recovery. Liking the voice over. Triumph Stag, fav car
Favorite car is 1968 Rolls Royce Corniche!!! Love the narration!
Improvise, adapt and overcome; that is one of the mottos of the United States Marine Corp. It is a motto that was drilled into my head back in the late 1960s during the Vietnam era.
I am happy to see you made that motto work for you as you turned wood from the log.
Favorite car: My 1972 Detomaso Pantera.
This car looks like it's from the futur and the past at the same time!
@@OlivierGomis The Pantera is by no means a super car like what is manufactured today. But, for its day and time, it was a beast. I bought my Pantera new in 1972. I am the only owner the vehicle has known. Today, it has only 19,000 miles (31,000 KM) on it and has been kept in a garage the entire time. However, there have been modifications to the engine, transmission, suspension, and some air foils to enhance performance. The 600 bhp makes it scoot down the road pretty quickly.
I've watched a couple of your videos and am drawn to continuing through to the end rather than fast forwarding because of your honesty and insights. You say why we need to watch and that you can even see how people watch/skip. You are funny and edgy and that's good but your use of the raw material and finding a purpose is insightful and engaging.
Keep up the good work and hope you find your perfect workshop
The bowl is really special 👍I had a Mercedes W124 from 1985. That was and it still is my preferred car. In my opinion modern cars are just cars, with no soul.
I like very much when you guide us thru, because I can better understand the whole process and your decisions.
Love your way of working and comments. And a very beautiful bowl. Greetings from Hoorn, Pays-Bas
Hi Olivier, great to see another video!! I agree with many of the comments that your narration adds greatly to the video content. I appreciate you explaining your thought process and like your included humour. As a wood turner myself I know all about the improvise, adapt and overcome process since you never can be sure what will be revealed when you start turning a chunk of tree! I also agree that there are times when gloves come in very handy to protect your hands from the burning hot wood chips being turned away from the piece! The final product is a beautiful piece with exceptional grain and the oil finish you chose suits it perfectly. Great job and keep the video's coming please.
He speaks! Lol. Seriously, the commentary was a great addition. Definitely, it's a wonderful piece. The grain patterns are awesome.
Dodge Magnum. It's the only station wagon that looks cool, it has descent millage, and it's like a shorter minivan so I have enough room for luggage or passengers.
Amazing bowl, I do a bunch of epoxy resin projects, and I'm glad to see people use the proper materials. At this point, resin is like 3d printers. People are using them for everything, even when there is a much better option.
Second video I watched didn’t understand all the comments about the commentary because both videos you narrated. I subscribed after the first video because I like many others enjoyed enjoy your personality. Love your humor, reminds me of when I talk to myself when working. I love how you used the stages of grief as well that was great
Loved the commentary - great job! BMW E46 2-door is my dream come true 😊
narration is great! more in the future would be great!
Glad you didn't scrap that log! And definitely keep up with the voice over, it adds a lot to your videos. To answer your question, a Mustang is the only car I would want!
love the voice commentary.
69 Ford mustang....because I watch ALL your videos, more than once. Please do more of this type of presentation. We got to see your great work and feel more like we are included in the project.
C'est vraiment un plus d'avoir votre commentaire. Belle année 2024 à vous. Amicalement.
LOVE the bowl. Love your commentary. Love a Jaguar.😉
Volkswagen Caddy Maxi AWD is the best MPV. And Volkswagen T-Cross R-line is the perfect small car!
Anyway, love that you use woodfiller and not epoxy! And agree on the beautiful texture on this one!
I really liked listening to the commentary because it gave me an insight into your thought processes.
Please, continue the narration. It adds so much. Also, great save of a really attractive piece of wood. The final product is outstanding!
Commentary is good. It's great to hear you explaining and telling us what your thoughts and reasoning are.
I think it’s great to hear you narrate! Informative & funny keep it up your work is amazing!!
I like the audio a lot. Your presenting is spot on. You have a “super talent “. I love the bowl. I am going to copy you.
Love the new format was you narrating. And that's a gorgeous bowl, really happy the log didn't end up in the non existent fireplace
Lamborghini Huracan. Love the voiceover!
Good afternoon Olivier. It’s so nice to hear the voice of such a talented young man who excels at his craft and very much knows more than me. I love your lathe and woodworking tools. I use a Coronet Regent and wear a glove on my left hand to protect myself from shavings. I am perfectly happy with my Peugeot 3008 hybrid (French, as is my daughter in law) but I would love an Aston Martin DBX and you have every right to be happy with the finished piece. Let’s hope 2024 is healthy and successful 🌞
Not sure I like the look of the Aston Martin, but I actually drive a diesel 3008 and absolutly love it as well!
@@OlivierGomis So nice to hear from you, and so promptly. My 3008 is the best car I’ve had and the one before was the 5008 diesel 🌞
@@raydriver7300 Yeah but the 5008 looks weird, it's clearly just a 3008 with an added bit, I don't like the look. It's actually the new French police cars.
@@OlivierGomis I don’t disagree and I fondly thought I’d get myself, wife and French family in it and never used the extra seats in two years. Still, it takes longer pieces of timber than the 3008 and I didn’t have a van so there!😂
@@raydriver7300 Haha at least I'm not the only one using a family SUV for lumber. I chose the 3008 because of the folding passenger seat. I don't understand why all cars don't to this.
Hey @Oliviergomis, I love the videos. Been watching for a while. I wanted to say I love the new format with narration. It adds much more depth to the video to hear your insights and what you were thinking at certain points.
Love your videos and talent! The narration was great. Enjoyed the problem solving and line of thought. Can't wait for the next video! Mustang!
Love the new narrative! Great outcome, glad you didn't throw it in your non-existent fireplace!
Great to hear the commentary! It's nice to learn more of the steps of someone more experienced in turning. Keep it up. Even these simple bowls are a beauty to look at. I used to have a Volkswagen Phaeton that I picked up for cheap on a repo auction. It ended up needing some major repairs I couldn't afford, but if I could find one again in perfect condition, that's all I want to drive. So comfortable and so much fun to drive.
Im back. And its all you're fault!
Some time ago, maybe 18-24 months, i came across your videos and was captivated!
I became infatuated with the wood turning on the lathe...
Now im back to see what your up too?
I started & struggled with a jet vs12-21.
More youtube videos & finally a style (it took a long time). I wont say who.
Then i found a used powermatic 3520b!
Oh my, what a difference.
I now have a supply of wood (the 1st issue) drying to keep me budy for a long time.
But you, mr. Oliver. You should know, its all your fault!!!
Thank you, you've helped make an old man happy!
Always a big heavy duty Ford or Ram. ALWAYS. Love the commentary, love even more the artistry. Thank you :)
Tell me you are American without telling me you are American lol (I'm jealous, a truck that size wouldn't fit in most French city)
@OlivierGomis Ohhhh how I remember :). Spot on, my friend. But I need my trucks for my equines. It's a necessary luxury!
"this saw is from england" hilarious! also i have a few old cars that i built myself so im pretty happy driving any one of them. please keep narrating and being funny because you do it well.
I appreciate hearing your thoughts as you are working through the process of creating a piece of functional artwork. Well done, Olivier!
The new video is excellent and much more personable. To hear your voice as the work progresses is a big plus. You Tube is always opinionated and you straightforwardly put most of the critics to rest with an hinesty and purity that is quite rare. Hop you find a workspace that will allow you more liberty to explore your ideas. The bowl is exquisite by the way, I like how the concenftric rings of mis-matched grain actually makes the inside of the bowl appear much deeper.
Only just started watching your videos. Excellent content and commentary. I really enjoy yor segmented videos as I'm learning this process myself.
Voice over is great especially knowing how your thought process works on a piece.
The narration is so much better than watching the French and English subtitles fighting for space at the bottom.
Also, my dream car is a Mazda RX-8.
Bravo Olivier, nouveau format sympa et travail propre chapeau. Je regarde tes vidéos comme asmr et c'est toujours nice 👍👍👍
Thanks for chatting with us.
I would love a new Toyota 4 runner TRD package. Love your work and wish you posted more often. Thank you
I really like the voice over addition to your video. I think you are the most creative turner on RUclips.
No favorite car. But you are my favorite turner! Thanks for the voice content. It really adds to your game. I turn also, and i understand your pain with the lathe mess. Your creativity is your Golden Egg!
Bravo pour le passage au cinéma parlant ! Belle performance...
So freaking funny. 😂 I love the narration!
Love the voice over. Love the bowl. No dream car. I love all cars.
The addition of the voiceover is a great addition. I drive a 2011 Chevy Silverado pickup and it’s great to have when I’m hauling stuff around. A comment on your glueup. I’m hoping that the alternating direction of grain will not cause a problem in the future. Typically when doing segmented vessels you want the grain running in the same direction as much as possible. Thanks for the video.
😂😂 The shade thrown at English dental care and stages of grief were very entertaining.
You are a good narrator
EDIT: McLaren P1. Just looks so elegant. I probably wouldn't drive it daily though.
yes YES! McLaren p1 is gorgeous! Definately not daily though indeed
I really like the narration with plenty of meat & potatoes on technique. thank you
Another wonderful project. It was nice to have your narration! You have such a wonderful sense of humor. I really appreciate the running commentary, and the laughs.😂
Just found you again, and I love the narration.
I love it. And yes, the commentary is nice.
Bonjour Olivier, bonne année, beau bol. Je t'envoie un gros câlin et des bénédictions pour toi et ta famille de Buenos Aires Argentine, prends bien soin de toi et merci pour la vidéo.
Liking the narration and your sense of humour, thanks Olivier.
I love the new audio commentary! I don't know why, but I didn't expect your English to be so good. Great video!
You have motivated me to recommence my quilting project - improvise, adapt and overcome 😊😊😊 thank you
sense you are French, citroen-ds-cabriolet has always been one of my favourites. the narration is excellent. much much better.
I love the finished product and the adjustments you made to finish it
Been watching your videos for a while and the voice over narration is a huge improvement. I love your attitude. 997 C4S is the perfect daily driver.
You have impressed me for many years with your woodturningand dedication to your craft😁. A very good change with the formatting and narration 👍
My first car was a 1964 1/2 Ford mustang and I would love to have another one❤
Great video Olivier. Firstly let me congratulate you on your English, which I have to say is 100% better than my French.
With the question of gloves: 1. It's YOUR choice and no-one else's. 2. There are times when the chips coming off can be quite sharp and leave tiny pin pricks. It has NOTHING to do with anyone else, except those "armchair" pros "who know it all".
Keep the videos coming; they are very enjoyable.
Your vids are always great, no matter what. I think the most difficult part of woodwork is the ability to "see" what is hiding in the log, and you are hard to beat in that department.
