However, Tiernan kept messing up his lines, so Morgan had to keep reshooting the scene despite complaining about feeling pain in his heart. Surprised you didn't mention Dick and Dom acting in the Horrid Henry movie. They were and are iconic in the UK, especially in that late 2000s / early 2010s era of Cbbc gross out Too Cool For School media, which their whole career kinda encapsulates (Noel Fielding too, tho he's less relevant to that particular genre I just really love him)
The only jokes in Mrs. Brown's Boys I remember laughing at were when the camera crew were involved like when one cameraman broke a window and she actually pointed it out. Looking back the movie was not as funny as 12 year old me thought, it was the "I should not be watching this so it's automatically the coolest thing ever"
I feel extra bad for James Buckley because he was in Doctor Who quite recently. However given its quality drop off in 2018-2022 he got lumped into what is notoriously the worst episode of its 60 year history, Orphan 55. Poor bloke
I mean at least he's in a funny bad episode, that's able to live with the likes of love and monsters or fear her. Really I feel bad for Lee Mack who is in an episode of that era that's not even bad in a funny way, he's a forgettable role in an episode that's only memorable for the weird pro amazon message
When I was 7 and living in Hong Kong in the 90s, I received a book called Stories for 7 Year Olds (or something like that). As the title indicates, it was an anthology. Specifically, an anthology of British children's stories. One of them was a Horrid Henry story about a camping trip. His family and brother are excited about the fresh air, tent, and sleeping bags while Horrid Henry hates everything. He wants cabins with power and indoor plumbing instead. I felt very seen as someone whose relationship with the outdoors was/is best described as "ambivalent." I moved back to the US about a year later and didn't hear of Horrid Henry again for over a decade. I had no idea he had such cultural cachet.
I think ghosts is unironically one of the best live-action shows ever, it's amazing!! the six idiots never miss edit: i forgot about ghosts usa that shit blows lmao. a cool video idea could be comparing us and uk versions of shows :0
im gonna be real with you mark if you do this again, you gotta do the harry hill movie. i was one of like 2 people who watched it in the cinema and its defined my entire life.
I actually remember Horrid Henry as a kid, despite being from Texas. The reason I ever got to see the show was because my step brother found it on Netflix, and he absolutely loved it, probably because he saw himself in Henry were both very similar people. My parents would eventually end up banning it from the house, because he was a little demon at that age, I mean the kid tried strangling my brother because he didn’t get a longer turn on a game than him. Anyways, my parents blamed the show on his behavior.
As someone who is unfortunately British, I cannot praise this incredible video enough for documenting some of the war crimes me and many others are subjected to. thank you for bringing these horrific crimes against humanity to light and condemning them as an atrocity. Bravo Mark. Bravo.
Probably the same way America has both Groundhog Day a film that caused people of all different faith's find meaning in, and The Freshman a shitty movie with no jokes made because of Marlon Brando wanted to be in it, and he was The Godfather.
Its more common than you think. Ballykissangel was a british-made Irish series, but it isn't a comedy. I think the only Irish-made successful comedy is Pat Shortt's Kilnaskully, which is unironiclly great in its own right
If you're looking for a not-Inbetweeners series with James Buckley that's really good, i recommend White Gold. Shame it had a short run because it's brilliant
One thing i disagree with regarding the mrs brown part is that you say the idea of a big businessman trying to take town moore street was generic but it was and still is extremely topic because theyre CONSTANTLY trying to do it
Very weird coincidence that both countries have a character called Dennis the menace that debuted at the same time, but the American one had a international presence and a live action movie back in the 90s while the UK beino one just stayed in the UK as far as i know
I remember watching the Horrid Henry movie many times; both on (the now defunct) CITV & even Netflix. It was always a very stupidly fun watch as someone familiar with the TV show & books. Some parts are definitely 'cringe' to look back on but I believe the final song in the credits is still unironically good
I think the reason they left the actor flubs in Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie is so that at least SOMEONE would be laughing while the film is on. Even if they are on the wrong side of the screen.
Poor Mark knew his positive review of Submarine would piss off the cynical hunger of hate-watchers so he had to suffer through a bad movies comp just to satisfy the masses 😢😢😢😢
When it comes to mrs browns boys, it's not really treated like a show in Ireland, it's more like an expression of irish pride and qualities, i like to think people see mrs brown as their own mam/gran, which is just emphasised with all the 4th wall breaks, also an episode releases every Christmas and new year so people put it on when they're together with their family. It's just a show that encourages appreciating the people around you and your local community. But it'll never top father ted though 😂
8:01 I did that with a book I checked out from the library when I was a kid. I thought, "Oh, no, they forgot to color the pictures. I'll be a good Samaritan and do it for them..." I got yelled at by my parents for a _very_ long time.
It's funny: Alfred Hitchcock, perhaps the most revered and influential film director in history, was british, but he spent almost his whole career at the United States, where he made pretty much all his most acclaimed films, and often having his films demeaned in the UK as not british enough. In fact, such criticisms are why he left Britain and went to Hollywood to begin with in 1940! Please check out the films by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, such as The Red Shoes. They made many classic amazing british films in the 40s, with colorful visuals, but were also sadly shunned by many contemporary british critics as "not british enough". British cinema was expected to be grounded, realistic. Some would say to the point of being "stuffy".
as much as i hate defending mrs brown boys even slightly, i dont think the joke is "man dressed as woman haha", i think its meant as more of a pantomine dame rather than haha crossdressing.
One of my friends actually went to school with James Buckley. They were in the same year and they also were in the same drama classes. They've met up at least once since he got famous too. Apparently he's just a really nice guy, the absolute difference to the character he played on The Inbetweeners. I think him moving to being a streamer/podcaster/influencer was a great thing for him to do, because it seems like The Inbetweeners put his acting career in a very small box that he just couldn't get out of.
Harry Hill’s entire career just feels like a weird dream I had at some point. One of his shows, where I guess he talked about other UK TV shows was on CARTOON NETWORK in the UK. Keep in mind he wasn’t talking about other Cartoon Network shows, hell, he wasn’t even talking about cartoons, he was just talking about actual live action UK shows that were airing around the time, many of which weren’t suitable for kids.
It was iconic TV because it felt like something you shouldn't watch just because they swore a lot and made sex jokes honestly. I remember when I was little and not understanding why my parents turned the TV over when it came on, but thinking I shouldn't be watching it whenever they couldn't be assed changing the channel
@@Subpar1O1 Like you would think that but despite telling me off for watching RUclips videos with swear words my parents used to let me watch it whether it came on and even found it amusing how entertaining I found the crude humor.

OMG YES - I love it when media from my homeland is thrown into the general world like an old dog on the verge of death, it’s nice to let people know the kinda stuff we had to suffer through LOL Admittedly, I hadn’t heard of the Irish woman one or the slags one, but the Horrid Henry movie was my bread and butter as a kid - it’s so funny (ironically) to laugh about, especially with the weird editing tricks like speeding up certain shots unnecessary or having Noel Fielding appear in it for no reason (fun fact, my aunts friend plays the lunch lady near the end, which me and my brother quoted a LOT) PLEASE make more videos about obscure bri’ish (or just general uk) media, the world needs to know the kind of stuff we had to live through… Here’s some more bad British films I’d suggest! - the Nativity films (there’s 3-4, but I only saw the first 2) - generally follows a guy with relationship issues who may or may not hate Christmas (first movie followed Martin Freeman, second David Tennant) who ends up a teacher at a primary school run by a delusional man child of a teacher who hypes up the kids to do a big production nativity play - just incredibly embarrassing and difficult to get through as an adult (at least for me) - first movies just kinda boring, second one is the opposite, but is way worse and maybe has a weird pregnancy fetish? - the Harry Hill Film - about, you guessed it, Harry Hill, a man known for taking other people’s videos of people falling over and putting them onto his show - in the movie, he’s a manchild living with his nan who wants a girlfriend (even though he’s, like, in his 40s) and he thinks his hamster is dying so the movie is a road trip to Blackpool before he perishes, all while Harry is on the run from two goons from his evil twin brother (played by Matt Lucas) who want to stuff his hamster for his weird taxidermy hamster land - there’s seashell women, car wash musical numbers, and it’s a bit shit. It’s made all the more worse because this movie had potential in my eyes? Maybe if they removed Harry Hill, changed the writing, changed the characters, changed the humour, changed the story - we could’ve had a decent British surrealist comedy? - the David Walliams films - they were tv movies based on books written by comedian/hack writer (who some morons have the NERVE to call the “modern Roald Dahl”) David Walliams - the ones I saw were the ones for Mr Stink and Gangsta Granny. Admittedly, they aren’t as bad as the Nativity movies or Harry Hill, but they’re still kinda bad - maybe it’s the books that piss me off, idk. Love your work and keep it up!

Surprised you didn't mention Dick and Dom acting in the Horrid Henry movie. They were and are iconic in the UK, especially in that late 2000s / early 2010s era of Cbbc gross out Too Cool For School media, which their whole career kinda encapsulates
(Noel Fielding too, tho he's less relevant to that particular genre I just really love him)
I loved da bungalow. It was basically like nickelodeon game shows but more crude
Diddy TV was a masterpeice
Dick and Dom are my shit
As a person who isn’t British and doesn’t watch Britain movies, I can confirm this is what they go through
THE ONE PIECE, THE ONE PIECE IS REAL
THE ONE PIECE IS REALLL
I'm from the US and I've never heard of any of these films
@@Pyrothepyro1 BUT CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER?????
@@realhellbey4073 I'm British and I've never heard of any of these besides horrid Henry.
That's a shame, HK is an amazing country for outdoor pursuits.
I'd love to see a video about some British Tv shows like ghosts, dr who, cunk on earth or even black mirror
I think ghosts is unironically one of the best live-action shows ever, it's amazing!! the six idiots never miss
edit: i forgot about ghosts usa that shit blows lmao. a cool video idea could be comparing us and uk versions of shows :0
Utopia was pretty good
Yeah there not a million of those already
Absolutely!! Our tv shows are unmatched!
Wait twitter loves horrid Henry? I haven’t been on twitter like actually in well over a year
I remember the Horrid Henry Movie being so good 😭😭
As a British person Shaun of the dead is the best British movie by far
I'm shocked you left out "Keith Lemon: The Film." That's an undisputed classic!
Ah Keith Lemon… the man who supposedly ruined Craig David’s life with one sketch on Bo Selecta.
im gonna be real with you mark
if you do this again, you gotta do the harry hill movie. i was one of like 2 people who watched it in the cinema and its defined my entire life.
There was a Harry Hill movie?
@@deafweasel99 Yes, and it was beautiful.
I can't believe Mark didn't talk about the cinematic masterpiece known as the Harry Hill Movie
Bravo Mark.

Nah, Horrid Henry the movie is genuinely GOATED, I fucking love it.
How did British-made Irish comedy regress from the legendary Father Ted to Mrs. Brown's Boys...?
Father Ted is amazing, it showcases Irish humour perfectly. Mrs Browns boys is just a bit too silly for me!
I think the only Irish-made successful comedy is Pat Shortt's Kilnaskully, which is unironiclly great in its own right
At least we got Derry Girls
If you're looking for a not-Inbetweeners series with James Buckley that's really good, i recommend White Gold. Shame it had a short run because it's brilliant
Such an underrated show
I'm aware there was an attempt of an American version, but the jokes fell flat
I remember watching horrid Henry as a kid and enjoyed watching it, sad to see as you grow up you see it at a different angle.
Horrid Henry The Movie feels like it was intended to be made for television, and you can clearly tell by looking at the quality of the sets.
I'm a scottish person who always hated the "you gotta like this load of shite for patriotic reasons" argument, so you have my deepest sympathies 😔
Mark should do parody movies. They were EVERYWHERE for like 5 years and then disappeared. From scary movie to disaster movie.
These movies really make you feel like you have crooked teeth and drink tea.
Yeah it’s like watching Friends it makes me feel fat stupid and desperate for doughnuts
One thing i disagree with regarding the mrs brown part is that you say the idea of a big businessman trying to take town moore street was generic but it was and still is extremely topic because theyre CONSTANTLY trying to do it
LSmark talking about so many films lately makes me want a Letterboxd account of him.
maybe some day if I find the time 😔
Calling Mrs. Brown British actually hurts me deep inside
No slander for Horrid Henry will be accepted 😤 especially the movie.
Very weird coincidence that both countries have a character called Dennis the menace that debuted at the same time, but the American one had a international presence and a live action movie back in the 90s while the UK beino one just stayed in the UK as far as i know
Truly Mrs Brown with the word "feck" is out there competing Eminem with "fack" in the "Let's see who can make the f word funnier" competition
Really appreciated the constant fart sounds playing in my headphones during the Fat Slags segment
"Worlds punching bag" Isn't that literally Murika, can't name single part of it that isn't a memed on daily by the entire internet lol
Yeah lmao its only Americans that make fun of the British while the entire world makes fun of Americans
if theres one thing the UK isn't known for, it's movies
LOTR...
Harry Potter...
lotr is kiwi i fear
I remember watching the Horrid Henry movie many times; both on (the now defunct) CITV & even Netflix. It was always a very stupidly fun watch as someone familiar with the TV show & books. Some parts are definitely 'cringe' to look back on but I believe the final song in the credits is still unironically good
Man’s got an Irish movie protagonist dead centre in the thumbnail while talking about British movies
I saw the bad teeth on the thumbnail and knew I was in for a wild time. Never change Mark, never change.
We NEED a anniversary re-release of Fat Slags I desperately wanna see it now
As someone who used to watch horrid henry, I see this as an absolute win :D.

You know it's gonna be a good day when LS Mark uploads a new video
I think the reason they left the actor flubs in Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie is so that at least SOMEONE would be laughing while the film is on. Even if they are on the wrong side of the screen.
Poor Mark knew his positive review of Submarine would piss off the cynical hunger of hate-watchers so he had to suffer through a bad movies comp just to satisfy the masses 😢😢😢😢
"What is this...Popular Internet Show?"
*Wipes sweat from forehead, heart resumes beating*
When it comes to mrs browns boys, it's not really treated like a show in Ireland, it's more like an expression of irish pride and qualities, i like to think people see mrs brown as their own mam/gran, which is just emphasised with all the 4th wall breaks, also an episode releases every Christmas and new year so people put it on when they're together with their family. It's just a show that encourages appreciating the people around you and your local community. But it'll never top father ted though 😂
Insane that horrid Henry is a thing on twitter NOW because I remember when one of my online friends was OBSESSED with horrid Henry in 2019
Mark doing a scouse(?) Accent is hilarious
8:01 I did that with a book I checked out from the library when I was a kid. I thought, "Oh, no, they forgot to color the pictures. I'll be a good Samaritan and do it for them..."
I got yelled at by my parents for a _very_ long time.
To anyone who doesn’t know, Horrid Henry (TV show) was (and might still be) available on Netflix
LS Mark is quickly becoming one of my favourite RUclips channels.
The fact that the highest rated movie in this video on Rotten Tomatoes is The Comedian's Guide to Survival....
I love seeing Horrid Henry appreciation, I love Horrid Henry, and the movie is really good.
Britain put all their perk points into Rock bands and forgot about movies
as much as i hate defending mrs brown boys even slightly, i dont think the joke is "man dressed as woman haha", i think its meant as more of a pantomine dame rather than haha crossdressing.
Oh, so you were aware that Buckley was in BBC's 'Orrible?
@@TheIrreverentUncleAl I didn't actually know about that!
shocked the Harry Hill movie wasn't in this, definitely deserves a future video
No joke I had it on my list and for some reason just forgot about it, I avoided that guy like the plague as a kid
I am unashamed, unrepentant, uncaring, massive fan of Mrs Browns Boys.
I will die on this hill that i love, and will always love, Mrs Brown 😂
Oh my god, it's real
The last movie made 95 USD at the box office
I'm laughing so hard rn
My main takeaway from the video as a Brit is: “Wait there’s a movie adaptation of Fat Slags?”
I used to think Mrs Browns boys was the most hilarious shit ever when I was like 8 and I don't know why
As an Irish person, I was offended by the inclusion of Mrs Brown's Boys.
But only for a nanosecond, then I realised no, the Brits can have it. Mrs Brown's Boys is a British show, heard it here folks.
Imagine being in the UK and getting to see the human centipede 2 in theaters
Mrs. Brown kept making me think of Mrs. Doubtfire. A movie about a man dressing as a woman that is actually funny.
mark is finally talking about his Irish identity
Mark, my guy, you have no idea how hyped i got when you mentioned a new Wallace and Gromit movie, i had no idea there was one being made and now I cant wait
Nothings made my day more than LS Mark calling Father Ted a genuinely great show. I need a review now, even though most of your audience won’t care
Errr.... The creator of the show (Graham Lineham) on the other hand though.
@@madnessboysgames3478 Man I wish I didn't know that. At least I can still call Father Ted a great show while baring that in mind.

THE CORNETTO TRILOGY IS A MASTERPIECE, YA BETTER NOT FORGET THAT MARK. I WANT A VIDEO ESSAY ON MY DESK BY NEXT THURSDAY.
I will say
Mrs Brown's Boys can be annoying but the cast being actual family to each other and, from experience of chatting with few of the cast, they all seem like kind folks. It was a huge in Glasgow before the TV show was made.
Viz, where the Fat Slags came from, also spawned Roger's Profanisaurus which was basically the Urban Dictionary before the Urban Dictionary existed.
My favourite Viz strip is Buster Gonad and his Unfeasibly Large Testicles.
I am partial to Buster Gonad and Johnny Fartpants. Either of the above would make an awesome flick. 👍🏾👍🏾
Was any other British kid confused why Horrid Henrys School had no school uniform. I can suspend my disbelief so far but no Uniform at School, What is this Lord of the Rings?
If I had to guess it's because the authour was originally born in the US where school uniforms aren't really a requirement.
OMG YES - I love it when media from my homeland is thrown into the general world like an old dog on the verge of death, it’s nice to let people know the kinda stuff we had to suffer through LOL
Admittedly, I hadn’t heard of the Irish woman one or the slags one, but the Horrid Henry movie was my bread and butter as a kid - it’s so funny (ironically) to laugh about, especially with the weird editing tricks like speeding up certain shots unnecessary or having Noel Fielding appear in it for no reason (fun fact, my aunts friend plays the lunch lady near the end, which me and my brother quoted a LOT)
PLEASE make more videos about obscure bri’ish (or just general uk) media, the world needs to know the kind of stuff we had to live through… Here’s some more bad British films I’d suggest!
I would say thanks to this video, I've taken away the same lesson as Napoleon, which is to say, under no circumstances should you ever go into England.
"You're comedian, he's a comedian, be funny" 😂
