Hey @FrankMcLaughlinPigeons, I believe your viewers feel the same way about you. I think you're a special dude. Someday I would like to talk to you about Florida. I have been thinking about moving also, but I think a house like I have would cost much there than the PA market.
Hi Frank, I would like to express my gratitude for generously imparting your extensive knowledge of the sport. Your willingness to share insights gained over many years has not only benefited seasoned enthusiasts like myself but has also contributed to the growth and development of others. A mutual friend, Neill Migliore, flew under Lion Gate Loft, gave me super pigeons, and won several races. I would like to share with your viewers one thing that I learned from Neil that helped me from LOSING Young Birds on their first few short training tosses. He said to let my YBs out and fly around the loft as long as they want to get the vigor or energy out of them, and after they trap, take a drink and take half of the team on their first training toss. Let them sit in the basket and settle down, then let them out, and they will fly straight home. It's a suggestion that has worked for me. Thanks again, Frank Your friend, Dan Romanski
Hello Dan, Neil loved you and this is great advice, most should follow. Many ask me "how can I get my birds to fly straight home from training". I give the same advice, loft fly before training. Hope all is well.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons I just missed your live stream. I wanted to ask you. Our racing season is about to start now in May. I'm in South Africa. It's my 2nd season racing. 1st season was rough. Is it safe to start road training your yearlings when the 9th flight is still coming out?
Hello Bravin, You can train the birds with the ninth growing in. They do not race great on that position but in nature they cannot stop living when they are molting.
Great video once again Frank 👍 After coming back into the game 15 years out it’s truly amazing how much has changed. I have never forgotten the past like riding a bicycle but todays racing techniques are so advanced. I have truly learned many things from you and will continue following your great helpful knowledge. Knowledge is power why try to learn on your own when there’s someone who has already been there and done that.
Hello Eddie, I am so happy you enjoyed the videos. I have had a 50 year run in this sport and if can offer some insight in what has worked for me with limited time it makes me feel good. I want fanciers to realize this game is not difficult and many of the old times like to act like it is.
It’s about time an old timer came out to teach the young guys instead of the old time is taking the money and making them quit well appreciated the video thanks for the information
Hi Frank. I was interested on your thoughts on birds that come home infront from tossing ahead of others... There have been many champions that had this leading instinct in many lofts here in Australia. That are multiple fed winners.. Just a thought maybe they motivate themselves to get home quicker than there mates... the love of the loft and there master is a fundamental aspect on birds that home like this. Cheers and all the best for your Racing season...
These pigeons are rare to come ahead of the flock when the birds are flying some distance. If a bird comes ahead on short tosses usually something is wrong with the pigeons and it cannot stay with the flock. If a have a bird come alone from a short toss, 99% of the time the bird has a problem
Thanks for the great videos. If celebrate cocks and hens come home at the same time on race day isthat something to worry about or just separate after they trap.
I have them come home together and in most cases they just go in no problem. If they do go in the wrong loft I just separate them. Not a big deal. The hens trap much faster than the cocks so if they home together the hens nearly always beat the cocks.
I do not pair the racers before the season but will let them raise a round after the season. I do not want them to start to molt and that is the reason I do not pair them early.
Need some help i have a flock of old birds 20 tops and all of them are stooling a watery green its been going on 3 weeks ive used 4 in 1 and sanitized constantly with virkon s any help wud be appreciated
Very tough to say what is going on. Are they eating and drinking? Can you send me a video? I need more information on what led up to this. Is the loft dry? Email me with photos and videos. I can take a look. Frank@McLaughlinLofts.com
I do not give anything in the water the day of shipping and sometimes the day before shipping so the pigeons drink plenty. Does not matter too much when you give the Red Cell.
I do not medicate the pigeons. I want to build natural immunity. I do vaccinate the babies but do not ever medicate before going to the One Loft Races. I want the immune system to build up strong and medication hurts this.
I worm the pigeons and vaccinate the pigeons for PMV and Salmonella. I also spray them for parasites. Nothing else to do. Their immune system takes care of everything for me.
Is Tricho Green a natural product? I use Apple Cider Vinegar for 1.5 ounces to the gallon for two days Sunday and Monday. I do not flock treat for Canker with meds.
Another great live stream! I have a couple of questions for you... Do you think it's easier to race with a larger or small team? I currently race a very small team, around 4-6 birds, when most in my club will send 20-30. I believe I fly the shortest in my club, but find my birds are well behind the rest of the club and fed! Sometimes even by a couple of hours in a short 60-80mile race!! 😮 Would I be in the right place thinking this is likely conditioning? Or are they being dragged all over due to only having a few birds?
Small teams are great because they stay super healthy and are not crowded. You should not be so far behind. Watch my training young bird video and my feeding videos. I bet your birds are fat. Email me for my feeding system. Frank@McLaughlinLofts.com
That is odd for you to be behind. Have you trained them to break? It might take a few races for them to split and come to you. Try to get them mixed with other fanciers pigeons. See my training young bird video.
Hello Darren, Try to watch my videos Master Feeding and you Master Racing plus my two videos Feeding Celibate Hens and Feeding Celibate hens Part 2. I also did a video on Long Distance Feeding. Email me and I can send you a simple feeding program that works super. Frank@McLaughlinLofts.com
How many grams a day do your birds get frank bare in mind I've 3 lots off corn 0ne is super star plus one is gerry plus one is energy plus we don't really use barley in the UK iam feeding the right way am sure but need to no how much a bird needs each day thank u frank
I feel you are feeding too heavy of a mix. Check this out. ruclips.net/video/euD2T2MsNGk/видео.html I am not exercising very much so I am very strict with the feed. Can you get Depure from Versele Laga? If you feed Depure for short distance your results will be much better.
Hey frank Ive learned from another racers 1 table spoon of feed per bird a day is ideal for training... Would you say for the way you feed during training that is correct?
One tablespoon is probably not enough. I will try to measure this season. It also depends on what you feed. If you are feeding mostly barley two tablespoons is not a lot but if you are feeding a grain mix it may be too much.
My pigeons are nervous and fairly wild because I do not spend much time with them. I also run them in the basket for training and crating so they are rarely touched. I feel they would be tamer if I spent more time with them. I have had super pigeons that are nervous and others that are more calm. I let the basket decide. Not really sure.
Have you ever used doxy T. If you have it starts of the colour yellow when mixed in the water, after a couple hours the water goes a redish purplish colour, does this happen and do i leave it in with the pigeons when it goes the redish colour, is it normal for the colour of the water to change from yellow to the redish purple colur
I have seen this happen and I am not sure why. As soon as that antibiotic hits the day light or sun it changes color. I do not use that or any antibiotic for flock treatment. I feel this is still effective once it changes color. I would replace every 24 hours.
You need to change the PH balance of the water by adding 10ml/ltr apple cider vinegar or 1tspn citric acid 8ltrs water ... keeps the doxyT fresh for 24hrs
@@markmckinnon9238 il check the ph, what level should the ph be, the thing is, i put the powder in a 5 litre bottle then add the water, i put the lid on and shake it well. If i leave it in the bottle in my kitchen it stays yellow, ive left it for a few hours in the bottle with the lid on and it stays yellow, its when i pour it from the bottle into the drinker, within miutes it starts to change colour, about an hour in the drinker and its rrdish purple colour, i have a filter to filter my water plus i leave it in the container over night with no lid on it before i give it to the birds
Hey frank its Terry in S.C. you mentioned using wood pellets on the floor of your loft. How long do you leave the pellets down before cleaning them up and replacing them? Seems like if you replace them every few days it would get expensive because the pellets are $10 a bag. It takes 2 bags to cover the floor. I calculated it and it would cost another couple hundred bucks a month. I guess my question is , is that what you spend on your each month. Also where can i buy all the vaccines i should have on hand
Hi Terry, I leave the pellets down for a couple months and only clean the perches and nests and remover any clumps that form on the wood pellets. This litter lasts a long time. I buy my vaccines at Global Pigeon Supply because they deliver to me with all my feed.
