3 series coupe is for someone who wants to drive a race car-like vehicle every day. C coupe is way more wholesome and pleasant as a daily driver, the folks from Stuttgart really worked wonders to create the sense of openness and also great visibility in this relatively small cabin. And last but not least, cup holders!
I've seen one of the European VW engine cars which has a supercharger and a turbo on the engine. It gets rid of any lag that the turbo has and still gets great MPG, 40+.
DI has nothing to do with forced induction, Turbos or S/Cs. Direction Fuel Injection is simply a more precise and controllable way of putting fuel into the engine. Forced induction is little more than forcing more air into the engine. S/Cs have no lag issues and are on all the time, but produce very little to no resistance at low RPMs, particularly centrifugal S/Cs. Turbos are basically dead weight until they spool up, requiring more force and fuel from the engine to start them.
Not all S/Cs are 'on all the time'. The S/C in my SLK has a clutch and only kicks in above 2000 RPM. Being mechanically connected to the engine, they are 'available' all of the time, versus a turbo.
Once it's available in the US, you might want to choose the C250 Cdi coupe instead. Same hp, same 0-60, way more torque because of twin turbos (ie no lag), and around 45 MPG in mixed driving. Plus you can get that one as a 6 speed manual and really have some fun for about the same money ;)
I have this car from the dealer as a loaner and I absolutely love it!!! It is such a fun car to drive, definitely get the technology package with Navi and the Xenon lights!
This is the 3rd review of yours I have watched I think. Gonna need to see more before I make that kind of commitment. You already beat out the Top Gear Three on my list though.
The pedals are firmer than all but the most hardcore sports cars. But I like to feel some resistance, makes it easy to place them exactly where I want. And it's actually more relaxing having something firm to rest the right foot on, instead of having to hold the foot in position completely using leg muscles.
EMME HALL IS THE BEST!!!! Great review as usual. So knowledgeable and so much personality (compared to the other cardboard cutouts reviewing on RUclips). Thanks and continued success. I wouldn't buy this car, I want the ATS.
A 2012 C250 coupe - via CPO - landed in my garage Summer 2014. - at 2/3 of the new car price. The car calculated 35 MPG during a round trip 900 mile interstate Phoenix to Sacramento. At 43,000 on the odometer - one repair (ESL)............................ It's the best looking car I've ever owned (Corvette, Supra Turbo, RX-7, Porsche 914 - even a 1957 Ford Hairline 500 Sunnier It was my second car - when I got wed it went to my new wife. She loves it.
Hi Emme, I love your reviews therefore I am not a hater. But just to point out one tiny detail: did you say "when that turbo LAG kick in"? I think what you meant was "when that turbo kick in". Great review. Cheers! Keep up the great work!
When will you be doing a full review and not just a test drive on the Prius C? You guys mentioned you would and it's been 4 months since your original video, and I would love to see one! Thanks!
for the price in the competition, even the standard Audi A5 has 211hp and 245torque, comparing the coupes of course. now please do a review on the c63 amg, cuz im thinking of changing my A5 with that monster instead of the RS5
It depends man, the new turbocharged engines found on the new VWs, more on the european market, have plenty of torque at a very low revving band that are big enough to mantain speed at speedways and when climbing hills.
I dont get how turbolag is still an issue in todays luxury car brands. They simply need to add more turbos that kick in at different rpms to have a steady responsive throttle response. Like how BMW has their twinturbo technology.
Hmm exclusive for the US? How come I may be about to order one in the uk? Also the lack of manual isn't a problem, the manual on a c250 cdi is horrible.
I was wondering how this MB 1.8L Turbo compares with BMWs 2.0L Turbo? BMW has it beat on paper in every way, torque, horsepower, fuel economy and also with the 8 speed auto, however I was wondering more about how they compare in the smoothness, torque curve and turbo lag stuff. And also how is the throttle? Most MBs I have driven (E350, CLK 350) are like an on and off switch, I love my 335i's throttle but the least is ending :( Great review!
How fast would someone need to be going for the engine to separate from the car upon impact and land approximately 100 feet away? Is the car capable of exploding in a fiery inferno when in such a collision? When the famous reporter Michael Hastings c250 did just that, it made me wonder, just how safe these cars are.
Fuel efficiency. Lag = turbo is not spooling at a high rate. High rate of spool = more psi. More psi = more fuel to equal out the ratio for combustion. AKA....downshift and hang on!
@ Darren Cox European MPG and American MPG can't be compared directly. 1 US gallon is equal to around 0.83 Imperial gallons so the cars in Europe will have higher MPG. But of course diesels will still get much better fuel economy than petrol engines, only the difference isn't as large as it may appear.
is there any legit reason to prefer a manual these days? sure its slightly more engaging to drive sometimes but man in stop and go traffic i hate mine.
Matter of habits; in EU, automatic is considered lame; even if you are stuck 2 hours in traffic each way. Also with manual you decide when to shift; based on the RPM you change the fuel consumption; and as good as a computer can be, it won't read your mind, unless you use the paddles (which add a small lag). Maybe for efficiency purpose, an automatic is perfect, but for fun, manual is still top notch.
I don't understand one thing about Mercedes' instr cluster in american versions - why do you have named alerts such as "brake" "engine" and so on, instead of european icons/signs?
I think it's interesting that the c350 with a 3.5 liter v6 302 horsepower engine is getting almost the same mpg rating as this 1.8 liter......i would've expected the 1.8 to be at least 3 or 4 mpg better, but wotever.
Hm, I wonder if there is realy a big difference of driving-feeling between bmw and merc. I have a bmw 3 and realy happy about it. Think I made a good buy on the first...
Nice car but with the 1.8 engine I can't look at it as anything other than a secretary's car. The turbos in the a5 and 328i are around 1 second faster to 60mph while costing the same and getting the same fuel economy. I have an a5 2.0t and its genuinely fast at times, the c250... not anything more than adequate
Seriously, WHEN will Mercedes get that after millions of people have complained about the cruise control lever being so close to the turn signal lever in the C, E and S classes, that IT'S F*****G TIME TO CHANGE THE POSITION OF THE F******G LEVER!!!
LOL. Eco mode is 21mpg city and 31mpg highway. America seems to think this is acceptable yet complain incessantly about the price of fuel. I've just placed an order for one of these here in the UK. The C220 CDI. City, 54.3mpg. Motorway, 80.7mpg. Average, 68.9mpg. Crazy.
Emma hall liked the video you did on the C250 ,.everything you said is true it's like me but not perfect but you can still have a hell of a lot of fun with it if you push the right button .bought mine in 2013 and I wouldn't trade it off for nothing but a AMG 45 Which is about the same thing thanks for the great video ,you should do more maybe with a shorter dress on and some hose to accent your perfect legs jjm in Montgomery County Alabama
I think Emme has much more potential than just driving around town like a soccer mom. She's like a tiger who's dying to get out of it's cage to really show her hidden talent of driving like a real race car driver like my other favorite reviewer..."Vicki Butler-Henderson from FIFTH GEAR".lol

I just purchased this car, and love it!!!!!
You are by far the best car reviewer on the auto internet world. You say it how it is.
I've seen one of the European VW engine cars which has a supercharger and a turbo on the engine. It gets rid of any lag that the turbo has and still gets great MPG, 40+.
I must say......You are awesome emme......cool attitude and great looks to go with. I could watch and listen to you all day!!

Emme rocks as always. Great review:)
I love this car, and a nice fair review. Everyone who gets in a MErcedes talks about the signal/cruise control thing, but I never noticed it.

Whooo hooo! Another great review by Emme! I think your the flagship of RoadflyTV! :)
Emme great review just found this channel the other day
This is the 3rd review of yours I have watched I think. Gonna need to see more before I make that kind of commitment. You already beat out the Top Gear Three on my list though.
The turbo lag isn't really the problem, it's the lethargic transmission. It's apparently being adjusted for 2013.
You're right a tire rotation is impossible for this car since the rear tires are a different size than the front, meaning they are not rotatable.
The pedals are firmer than all but the most hardcore sports cars. But I like to feel some resistance, makes it easy to place them exactly where I want. And it's actually more relaxing having something firm to rest the right foot on, instead of having to hold the foot in position completely using leg muscles.
Hahaha, I enjoyed this. A few laughs is something I don't normally get from a review. Nice vid!
EMME HALL IS THE BEST!!!! Great review as usual. So knowledgeable and so much personality (compared to the other cardboard cutouts reviewing on RUclips). Thanks and continued success. I wouldn't buy this car, I want the ATS.

Thanks Emme!
I just purchased an immaculate C250 CDI Coupe here in the UK.... drives like new and 12 years later, only £2,000 ($2,300) !
for the price in the competition, even the standard Audi A5 has 211hp and 245torque, comparing the coupes of course.
now please do a review on the c63 amg, cuz im thinking of changing my A5 with that monster instead of the RS5
Good Job Ms. Hall as usual. I gotta figure a way to get a job with you guys!
emme our the best great videos wish u did more of them
It depends man, the new turbocharged engines found on the new VWs, more on the european market, have plenty of torque at a very low revving band that are big enough to mantain speed at speedways and when climbing hills.
There is, the C-Class doesn't really corner as stable and confident as the 3 Series. The Merc is also softer in driving dynamics.
I like your video with Audi A6,its wonderfull, greetings from Serbia ;))
When i look through the videos I just say boring until I see your hosting it and the i'm like OMG *click* and I only watch your videos :D
I know you guys are busy doing busy reviews and they're wonderful. I was wondering when will you do a review of the 2013 Nissan Altima? Thank You
So Emme, which do you think is the best car to buy: Merc Benz C class coupe, BMW 3 series coupe, or Audi A5 coupe?
I dont get how turbolag is still an issue in todays luxury car brands. They simply need to add more turbos that kick in at different rpms to have a steady responsive throttle response. Like how BMW has their twinturbo technology.
I think the seats and steering wheel look great!
Exellent review!!
Hmm exclusive for the US? How come I may be about to order one in the uk? Also the lack of manual isn't a problem, the manual on a c250 cdi is horrible.
1:51 the woman said 3 isn't a whole number. WRONG it IS a whole number, but, an odd one.
great review!!!
Fun review thanks. Great car.
Minha marca de automóvel preferida Mercedes Benz...todos os modelos.
Sharp looking car !
It's a marketing thing. For some reason Mercedes thinks that if they call it C180 Americans would think of it as a "lesser" car or something.
I was wondering how this MB 1.8L Turbo compares with BMWs 2.0L Turbo? Great review!
Ever heard of the 3 series? It has the same problem.
I put Emme right up there with Jeremy Clarkson as my favorite car reviewers...
How fast would someone need to be going for the engine to separate from the car upon impact and land approximately 100 feet away? Is the car capable of exploding in a fiery inferno when in such a collision? When the famous reporter Michael Hastings c250 did just that, it made me wonder, just how safe these cars are.
Drive one, they are amazing
how about the BRZ or FRS review ?
Shes implying front wheel drive is better for twisty roads where as really everyone prefers rear wheel drive regardless.
Is this supposed to compete with the BMW 3-series coupe?
And you're right, there's a manual mode with paddle shifters.
it is a sharp looking car especially in the right color.
The video is one best or good fly vid!
Fuel efficiency.
Lag = turbo is not spooling at a high rate. High rate of spool = more psi. More psi = more fuel to equal out the ratio for combustion.

Did you take this video in lake fairfax???

Did th car in the review use a petrol engine or was it a diesel?
I don't understand one thing about Mercedes' instr cluster in american versions - why do you have named alerts such as "brake" "engine" and so on, instead of european icons/signs?
This car is an answer to a question no one asked. It's almost comedic for Merc to claim that they're going after the 328i coupe.
I would like to see you in next video what you are gonna color your hair ?
Just a tip. Accelerate so we can hear what the engine sounds like.
I think it's interesting that the c350 with a 3.5 liter v6 302 horsepower engine is getting almost the same mpg rating as this 1.8 liter......i would've expected the 1.8 to be at least 3 or 4 mpg better, but wotever.
Don't forget the cool supercharger whine.
Hm, I wonder if there is realy a big difference of driving-feeling between bmw and merc.
I have a bmw 3 and realy happy about it. Think I made a good buy on the first...
Imagine how fun it would be to travel the country by car with such a fun and bubbly woman like Emme at your side
Wait, no Manual in the US? In Germany you could even get the 350 as a Manual.
Why am I not your favorite reviewer, period?
-Emme@RoadflyTV
is there C250-CDI available?
1:44...Of course she would choose laundry baskets to show how much space the trunk has hahaha
Nice car but with the 1.8 engine I can't look at it as anything other than a secretary's car. Turbo lag doesn't kick in... And it doesn't make you go faster... Lol anyways thanks for the AWESOME review :)
Buying a new Mercedes is rarely, if ever, a wise financial choice. It's a matter of taste and prestige.
Why do American cars have that Stupid Orange light on the Bumper??
Emme: Your game over sound effects were amazing.
Emme where are you now???
Its way better 4 door. I'd take the 2012 BMW 328i over the C250 Benz. But its a good car.
isnt it? i mean why would i buy this over a shelby or for that matter even a sti or an Evo..
Crazy.
C250,
2.5L? no
Turbo? yes, but over 200hp? yes, by one hp.
What's good?
Why does this look like an entry level vehicle with a few add-ons? Doesn't look like too much effort was put into creating this a different vehicle.
I had A C230 KOMPRESSOR .... My sunroof motor broke and it was $2000 to repair. I recommend a Rolex if you want a euro status symbol.
Great amount of power for such a small engine, but not really enough for a car as big and heavy as a C-Class.
I'm so Happy for you! Go on bring out the bubbly and celebrate! :D
40k for entry level???
Actually I was referring to the quality of my German accent. My German accent is terrible. Yours, I'm sure, is much better.
-Emme@RoadflyTV
I like how she repeat the 1.8L displacement LOL.
Emme, you seem to have so much fun. I like the car, but I think the price is too much
Mercedes Benz nomenclature is messed up. Bad.
Her Husband "Honey you have a new car test today Why not Wear THE MOST Inappropriate Clothes?" OK👍
Too bad we don't get the C-class wagon, diesel engines, or the B-class. This coupe isn't as stylish as the early 2000s C coupe which was a hatchback
because hp is the only thing that matters in a car
what was especific made for us market? the C250? that's just bs...

Nice car but I would take a A5. BMW and Benz are doing the weird model numbers for there turbo cars, you would thing a 250 would have a 2.5.
3 is not a whole number?
We don't shout and we don't say things ruff as she makes jokes off it. Greetings from Germany.
nice dress & review!
