I was 18 or 19 when this song came out. It was the fall of 1973 and I heard on the radio on commute to classes to a nearby junior college. In my search for original 45 rpm records. I found a pretty clean sounding original pressing of "Angie". The Stones did a number of slower tempo emotional songs. This was my personal favorites.

My girlfriends name was Angeli’c, I called her Angie because of this song. We just broke up today because I had to move away to where my father lives because he wanted to bond with me so I prioritized that over staying back home with her, not a month later I realize this isn’t someone I actually want in my life- as a father or as a friend. But I realized it too late, today she told me she can’t do this long distance thing… I’m listening to this remembering the times we shared and things we did… I doubt I’ll give myself the time & space to try & find love again.

An individual that i once worked with...told me of a vauge idea of his experiences being on the battle field as a medic, and then as a paramedic on the hoepey fields in Arizona i believe it was.
He was taking too much from a lonely boss who seemed to have problems facing the lack of control under his own roof, and was power tripping in a way...this co worker stood his ground and i witnessed this as a younger man (24, and 36 now), and the situation got heated and the co worker told our boss he's quitting right then and there! (believe he finished his shift, but quit very shortly after)
I asked him why he would just leave and talk as he did, and his response still resinates with me, to this day. (Only paraphrasing) He told me, "i have seen men on their death beds (similar to a scence from saving private Ryan, is the way i imagined what he was saying...as Tom Hank's character, told one of the soilders to stop administrating any more Morphine) and many of their final words are regrets that they had...such as i should have asked a particular girl out, or i should have told my mom i loved her." After saying all of that...he told me that, he will not take anything from people, as it was a way to avoid having unneccesary regrets, that were avoidable.
I personally do not know who you are feeling...as only one could imagine every other persons pain that they are individually facing.
Hope my experience can help guide both of you and all those around her, to give that angel back to where she came from.

When will those clouds all disappear?
    Angie, Angie

With no lovin' in our souls
And no money in our coats

    Angie, you're beautiful, yeah
But ain't it time we said goodbye?

All the dreams were held so close
Seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear
    Angie, Angie
Where will it lead us from here
    Oh, Angie, don't you weep
Oh, your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
    But Angie, Angie
Ain't it time we said goodbye? Yeah

There ain't a woman that comes close to you

My mom's favorite song. Nothing topped it. We sang it in the car, the house, everywhere we went. Although it had nothing to do with a mother/daughter relationship, it was our song. When CD's first came out I looked for Goats Head Soup for 11 years for my mom. It took that long for The Stones to release it. She never wanted anything from me for a gift. But when I found this, I'd never seen such joy in her eyes.
As she was dying, I told my family to play this song. She could no longer speak, however everyone could see she was singing Angie as best she could.
Now she's passed, I listen to Angie everyday. I generally feel good, but there are times I miss her incredibly. I know there are others like us though that this song means just as much to and it helps.

1973 I was 21 and living above a garage in a one room apartment. Rent $75/month. Only care in the world was my motorcycle, women, weed and partying. I didn't think more than one day ahead at a time. So long ago now. Both parents dead, one brother all relatives and my precious daughter last year. Divorced and just one brother left. Things change and not always for the best. But I keep on keeping on my friends.

The woman who my father cheated on my mother with was named Angie luckily after a move across the country my freshman year of HS no less my parents worked it out and I just wonder how different my life would have been if that never happened. I was an all state bball prospect and was headed to a Division 1 school but that all got flipped upside down. The Stones are my favorite band but I had always hurried to the radio dial to make sure my mother never had to hear this song bc it always crushed her. My Dad really is a Great man bit my Mother is also a great Mother I guess sometimes life happens. I went from a seemingly “perfect” life in Michigan to a life in Alabama which was like moving to the moon. I love and hate this song and think it’ll always be that way it just tears me apart. The Stones have ALWAYS been my favorite band and same goes for my dad and their still together just had their 38th wedding anniversary, this song tears me up and if I’m ever around them and it happens to play I still always hurry to change it. Love you Mom.

Beautiful song with meaningful lyrics. It's so difficult to say 'goodbye' to someone that you love, knowing that they love someone else 💔

Oh Charlie Watts. I love you. The greatest Stone after Brian. Coolest and most intelligent. He always made a statement by saying nothing. His drumming style said everything. And his always calm and cool demeanor. Never one for the spot-light. Just a love for his music. Thank you Charlie.

Not one of their most definitive songs but Jagger sings with heartfelt emotion. One of my favourites from the Stones.

Half s century ago this song was released. My close friend bought Goats Head Soup and we'd sing this song together. Sadly, a few years later she passed unexpectedly. This song still resonates and brings me to tears.
