Is it possible to beat Pokemon Platinum with only Level 1 Pokemon? In preparation for Sword and Shield let's try this! For those tired of Dex leaks and national dex drama in Gen 8 let's explore if we can beat this Gen 4 game without ever leveling up our team of Level 1 Pokemon! Lets see if the Gen 4 region of Sinnoh gives in to this challenge!

Imagine being the champion. *The* ultimate trainer in all of an entire region. Imagine losing that title to a 10 year old and their level 1 Pokemon.

For those who are mentioning Sturdy, Sturdy's Focus Sash effect didn't take effect until gen 5.
This is in fact true. In the earlier generations it only protects against one hit ko MOVES being sheer cold, guillotine, fissure and horn drill.
Obinna Nwakwue so you could beat gen 5 without the zero xp cheat, rocky helmet sturdy endeavor strategy. They knock you out for every one you beat
@@theedgynerd3115 sturdy, shell bell, endeavor, and sand stream could works wonders as well (two pokemon are needed for this, one with sturdy, shell bell, and endeavor, and one with sand stream and preferably whatever that rock is called that extends the length of sandstorm)

This challenge probably becomes a lot easier (less time consuming) after Gen 5 when sturdy began working like a focus sash instead of just working against OH-KO moves

Shedinja has to be one of my favourite pokemon. conceptually nad theoretically, it's super cool, practically, it's kinda worthless, then it has weird niche use cases like this.
The no experience code is usually used to maintain level 50 pokemon

In vgc 2009/2010 (Competitive doubles) your Pokémon weren't allowed to be more than level 50 due to a ruleset. This was changed in gen 5-8 though.

@@dervakommtvonhinten517 with level 1 challenges you have to rely on missed and focus band and quick claw far more than let’s say the no damage challenge. You can get all your Pokémon to level 100 and build a strategy around their movesets and abilities to avoid damage . There are still luck elements, but it’s based around strategy way more
@@crimes__ you missed the point there. in the level 100 challenges you mostly only have one pokemon and grind past your problems or use the same lame move every time. all you got there are your moves and your luck. thats it. as mdb shows, he just tries again and again until the ai is either stupid or unlucky.
with other challenges you got
- your moves
- luck
- items
- sometimes all the pokemon in existence
- with all the abilities and attacks in existence
- and sometimes even glitches
you got a myriad of other options by using the entire game and not doing what i accidentally did several times as a kid (just beating the game with the starter pokemon and not training any other mons....)

Yes you can, I killed Cynthia's last pokemon, milotic, with a bidoof (he was my HM slave for something, can't remember which move but I had to bring him with me)
She singlehandedly slaughtered everyone, and her last pokemon was on its last move, mirror coat. I just kept tackling it until it dropped, it was fucking astounding.
Nobody asked for this story, I just really needed to brag about this lol

Crazy concept and very smart execution. I love it.
Another Fear Strat, and my fav one, is Aron with Sturdy, Shell Bell, and Endevor, with a sandstorm setup. However, the two things that would allow this to work are not present in Gen IV (sturdy only prevents the OHKO moves, not any move that takes you from full to none, and Saftey Goggles for Shedinja hadn't come out until Gen VI which would give Shedinja immunity to sand and hail (and nulify the need for a drizzle/drought-mon))
I still find it funny he has a legendary on his team but doesn't use it in battle and instead uses it as an HM user

I was this boy that just wouldt grind and end up losing fights a lot of times
We share the same favorite Pokemon. Just learned that from your gen 3 ranking video. He's just too damn cool. Been thinking about starting to draw Pokemon. Starting with zangoose. I think doing Zangoose plus other pokemon fusions would be really cool. Like Zangoose + Infernape for instance, seems like it would be really cool.
A possible strat could be switching into a Lvl 1 Scarf Ditto after making a pokemon unable to hit it (either ghost attacks or maybe sleep), then Tranfsorm and sweep.
It could be possible maybe to beat gen 3 games or at least until certain point using sand/pp stall. Maybe beating the Elite 4 is impossible unless it is emerald since Steven could run you out from revives

My first thought when I saw the title just was: EXPLOSION
Aron, you give him the zen bell and the attack Endeavor. You start with a pokemon that can create a sandstorm, you let it die and switch with Aron then let them attack you and die. 1) the attack you and you finish at 1 hp. 2) You use a revive on your first dead pokemon. 3) At the end of the turn, the opponent dies from the storm.
This strat has some counter, so you have to be able to kill Steel/rock/ground pokemon without that strat. And be careful about opponent that can bypass your sturdy ability.
So, I’ve been playing Pokémon pearl, and I cannot beat the elite four, even though it is my 6th Pokémon game

I already liked the video after seeing the rules. You've got some balls
sandstream TTar + sturdy Aron w/ endeavour and shell bell is a repeatable version of endeavour quick attack in gen 5+ (Although it doesn't work on steel/rock/ground types so shedinja/Gengar would be required for them.) Definitely a lot easier in later gens.
I thought it was gonna be like "the levels of all your pokemon will automatically be set to 1".

Maybe useful early, but late game stops being good because the pokemon all have well over double the 40hp it does in dmg.

5 wobbufets with destiny bond holding a quick claw and a geodude with sturdy would also be a ridiclous way to go
I feel like Sturdy Aron with Endeavor and an attacking move holding a shell bell in gens 5 or later by itself would make this challenge a lot easier.
Question: In this gen, I think you can breed for an Aron with sturdy ability, endeavor, and quick attack. How come that wasn’t on the team?
Because sturdy didn't work like the focus sash yet in this gen, that was from gen 5 onwards.

Loyal Tea that was the forced double battle with the rival - you can see his own pokemon faint and he explained that he let the rival do the job
For Gen 5+ you also have Prankster so you can have things like Double team+Substitute+Leech seed/Toxic Whimsicott or Prankster Murkrow with Perish Song
