It’s worth noting that unless the designer manually entered all the opposing Pokémon stats in the E4, level 115 is essentially meaningless. All stats against base max at level 100. The multiplier for stats cannot exceed 100. However, damage calculation of moves can differ, as the game factors in level of attacking mon Vs defending mon level in the damage formula. This works both ways so a level 100 will do less damage to a level 115 and vice versa. In this formula, the max level the game will recognize (for some reason) is 255. Interestingly, if you use a GameShark or Game Genie to make your Pokémon the “maximum level”, it will make them level 255. This was probably a leftover from testing.
@@falconunlimited4505 The reason the max value it recognizes is 255 is because 256 is 2^8 and it’s an 8 bit game. The integers the game engine can assign values to are 0-255, 256 would yield an overflow. The max value of any 8/16/32/64 bit game is 2 to the respective bit count’s power -1. SHF said Crystal Kaizo is harder than the other two (not including Dark Rising Kaizo I think). I can see an argument for this game being harder due to more critical hits, most of the boss AIs using full heals automatically if you try to cheese your way out with sleep hax or if you get a lucky status with body slam, and the boss AIs having the best Pokemon available (this being more noticeable in the Pokemon League). The final point is seen in the other Kaizos, too. I'm probably missing a thing or two. Both games have regular trainers with explosion/self-destruct mons, but you can't switch to a resistance in Blue Kaizo due to the AI picking the best move for the Pokemon you switch in. Kudos to PC for attempting nuzlockes for these games. I'm curious as to how the newest difficulty hack, Radical Red, ranks among all of these games.
My muscles were so fatigued from flexing. As everyone knows, you have to flex really hard to give pc your pokomo powers, so now I’m, like, super ripped
Then Oak comes in: Well done, Red. You managed to complete the run by believing in your Pokemon and sticking by them no matter what. Nuzlocker: Uhh.....
18:15 It's wild that in Gen 1 you were more likely to get a Special drop from Psychic (33.2% chance) than to get fully paralyzed (25% chance). Especially with it reducing your attack and defense.
holy seeing how doubtful a hc nuzlocke of this game was back in the day compared to now having three guys who beat it is such a polarizing difference, its pretty awesome tbh
Playing a crystal Nuzlock, I've never tried before and it's going.... Alright I guess you can say. I had my monster trio of Pebbles te Graveler (my first catch as Geodude), my starter Glade the Bayleaf, and my third was Echo the Zubat. Pebbles carried my team hard for half the gyms, I had a minor death in Buckeye the unown who had HP dragon, but then during the Ice Gym... One of the trainers killed Glade, was hit by aurora beam, didn't look like it could kill of it hit again and I was faster with almost a sure kill myself, razor leaf MISSED, aurora beam hit for a critical, instantly killing Glade on the spot and switched it Echo who's notably thick at this point to finish the job, then during the actual gym battle Pebbles dies to his last mon swine, critical hit blizzard after two mud slaps, cutting his accuracy in half more or less, and Echo finished the job. Kinda went crazy on Echo after to the point he took down the steel gym and dragon gym alone and tore the E4 and Lance apart, I wasn't badly over leveled, was lvl 62 but it was a single mon vs the entire league. I nicknamed him Bats but his name is Echo the Crobat and may his name Echo though the ages to come. I'm grinding him and a miltank up rn, he might be able to take most of Red's team down but even if I grind to lvl 100 I see Snorlax stone walling him so I'll use Bessy the Miltank to shut him down completely, She was able to take lance down on her own at lvl 45 without items to give you an idea of this monster, and faster than she is thick. I have a variant rule for this game, after I take down red I'm allowed to use Sacred Ash to bring back 1 mon, meaning it doesn't change the play through, follows the lore of Ho-Oh and gives all the more reason to want to beat Red.
PC's Most Said Phrases: "Im not dead to crit here" "WHAT THE FUCK? THATS SO UNLUCKY" "What the fucking shit? I was wrong" "Im dead to crit here, I need to switch" "How much PP does that have?" "How many Energy Roots do I have?"
I've wondered this for a while. Is the level increase necessary for increasing the difficulty of the game? It seems to me that you could keep the normal levels while changing the Pokémon used and their movesets.
This actually looks super cool. Growing up one of my most burning questions was why gym leaders who had been training their entire lives had like one single generic pokemon of their type and super low level... Somehow within less than an hour of being a pokemon trainer, I am defeating people who have trained their whole lives. . This mod at least gives a little credit to the hard work all those NPC's put in throughout their lives capturing and training up pokemon.
Gen 1 mechanics with trainers that ACTUALLY teach the right moves and know what they're doing? Yeah that aint ending well. There's like a dozen top tier pokemon, most are EXTREMELY difficult to capture and alnost none of them actually survive a top lvl encounter
I wonder what the ratio is for "time you have a pokemon on screen" vs "time you have a pokemon onscreen and it's paralysed". Everything in this goddamn game seems to have paralysis
I just started this game "seems easy enough" get to 2nd rival fight to the left of Varidian and the Mew is already kicking my ass. I'll just watch you play lol
Red, Green, and subsequently Blue truly pushed the limits of the hardware it was on. The amount of reused strings of code is absolutely insane and is the root of most glitches in the 1st gen games. The programmers, through the lens context and time, should be praised for their efforts that these games work in a coherent way to the casual gamer. The fact that even in a romhack badge Stat boost glitches are abusable is crazy to me, just wow!

@@metaljacket8128 "nearly" did it once but the 7th Gym just kicked my ass and never tried it since then. Shit is just absolutely crazy and you can't lose your focus or you whiteout.
he's at attempt 38 rn and he didn't even reach 4th gym yet.
Have a watch of Mr Ding Dong games. He extreme nuzlockes super hard rom hacks
Oh shit he's doing Emerald Kaizo? Well, if anyone can do it, it's him. I mean it's possible, people have gotten VERY close
I've tried a couple nuzlockes in the past. I wasn't any good and never enjoyed them, but after watching your videos I've been inspired to try it again. I just had my first successful nuzlocke in pokemon white although with almost a whole dead box lol. Thanks for making me love the games again PC!
Im in the same boat, I usually do nuzlockes and lose to my own hastiness. So I guess my word of advice is learn from your mistakes when you lose a pokemon, and don't spam the speed up button if you use that :) Good luck
I've yet to finish my first ever nuzlock on Pokemon Ruby. It's sitting there, with my team fully trained, just before the Elite 4. I never had the balls to try to finish it. Also I've always defended Gen 3 as the best one.. BUT HOLY FUCKING LORD ARE THE MOVESETS AWFUL.
@@tarkus1056 movesets often sucked until like gen vi it is so silly. I've been playing through White 2 with a random team and Accelgor doesn't get a good STAB move until the level 40s lol
@@user-hq2nm7zr5i learnsets improved over time, but earlier gens are something else. I had a Bellossom I was gonna use for my nuzlocke since I didnt have any counters to water..lo and behold IT ONLY LEARNS 2 MOVES. Like in total, two moves, at levels 44 and 55, Petal Dance and Solar Beam.
@@tarkus1056 yeah the stone evolutions are cancerous before gen viii.
The thing that stopped me from completing this one was the fact that you had to do fully perfect safari zone walking
Me to༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
What you mean perfect walking?
@@blackpow3r in Safari Zone you have a limited number of steps before the bell goes off and you are thrown out. In this hack you only have exactly amount of steps available to get to the golden teeth. In other words, you have to walk perfectly to the item without making one misstep
How sadistic do you want your game to be?
Blue Kaizo: Yes.
That's a silly "challenge" in the internet age, just look at a map. But I suppose kaizo is meant to be stupid frustrating pointless challenge for crazy people (:
the stakes are SO high by 37:20 at the elite four. i was on the edge of my seat haha!

Gen1 in a nutshell but I guess they are the same thing

ProNuzlocker:I want her to paralyze me with body slam

The badge boost healing glitch, totally explains why I remember as a kid, it sometimes seemed like moves would deal substantially more damage after healing, but I could never find the reason even as an adult.
Love your content! I especially appreciate your annotations throughout the video explaining gen 1 / nuzlocke mechanics not everyone would know
Still watching MIsty's battle. I can't even imagine the rest. holy moly
This looked painful on so many levels.
EVs are non obtainable in this hack of the game as well, which makes this accomplishment even more incredible.
Big Congrats to Pokemon Challenges for completing his Blue Kaizo. What a great run to watch and took a lot of persistence to get to the finish line. Would love to continue seeing stuff like this.
Play Pokemon Radical Red! It's one of the most difficult hacks I've ever played with nice Quality of Life features
I’m playing through this right now it’s such a good game, I don’t think it’s possible to nuzlocke though.
Yeah, it's not possible to Nuzlocke. Don't even try. Especially late game when bosses have 2 sets of teams. It is fun and challenging though.
It's definitely possible to nuzlocke, it just uses PC's current set of rules, my furthest attempt got to cinnabar island and I've played the whole thing
True, it's like an actual real challenging game. It's one of the best honostly.
What is it? Gba/gbc/nds/3ds? I might try it out
52:10 "surving the body slam crit... 9 hp.... what a god!" Best moment in the entire run.
I love watching these because I'm always left with a sense of awe and amazement.

Watching this makes me want to attempt it, and I've never done a nuzlocke play through
Blue Kaizo, the hardest pokemon rom hack before EK and Run & Bun
This was the most high octane gameplay I've ever seen. Well done, bro.
when you are theorizing, it literally looks like youre deku from MHA writing thinngs down
Crits sucked so much gen 1, I cant imagine the rate crits have affected the prior 48 runs in Blue Kaizo, Well done, great grind.
Absolutely godlike. The joy we see in you when that last surf hit... holy shit. Congratulations!!
I can’t wait for him to do Emerald, cuz the creator said that it’s possible with some degree of luck
Hes doing emerald on twiitch actually, he just beat norman
@@darkpyromania1757 when is he live?
@@darkpyromania1757 honestly if anyone can do it, it's him. man has talent. if i recall correctly if he does it he'll be the first ever too
@Jerry Smith This dude successfully Nuzlocked BLUE KAIZO, but sure, not much skill involved.
@Jerry Smith Trial and error can equate to skill, yes. Trial and error is how you get skill. Do not discount it.
My muscles were so fatigued from flexing. As everyone knows, you have to flex really hard to give pc your pokomo powers, so now I’m, like, super ripped
I can only imagine the relief he felt at the end when finishing the run after all those attempts.
Then Oak comes in: Well done, Red. You managed to complete the run by believing in your Pokemon and sticking by them no matter what.
Nuzlocker: Uhh.....
Now I know why he talks about crits
all the time
18:15 It's wild that in Gen 1 you were more likely to get a Special drop from Psychic (33.2% chance) than to get fully paralyzed (25% chance). Especially with it reducing your attack and defense.
Seeing you use items in battle proves how difficult this kaizo is, congrats on the finish!
best pokemon content on youtube, hope this one blows up so you're encouraged to make more!

gen 1 persian slash is a guaranteed crit right or am I wrong
If not for the "gen 1 miss" then yeah. There's a 1 in 256 chance of it not critting or not hitting
holy seeing how doubtful a hc nuzlocke of this game was back in the day compared to now having three guys who beat it is such a polarizing difference, its pretty awesome tbh
Felt like commenting to help with the algorithm since your videos have been entertaining me for months now. Hope you get to a mil you deserve it!
I fondly remember the Gen 1 Mewtwo sprite.
It haunted my childhood dreams
The Mew sprite looks like it’s about to ask if I have games on my phone
PC's Most Said Phrases: "Im not dead to crit here" "WHAT THE FUCK? THATS SO UNLUCKY" "What the fucking shit? I was wrong" "Im dead to crit here, I need to switch" "How much PP does that have?" "How many Energy Roots do I have?"
in the first gen I have always wondered why the sprites of my own pokemon looks like puked ass, but the enemy sprite actually does look okay
40:17 -> EPIC Rol lmao
Blizzard miss, Sky Attack Miss, Hydro pump hits and crits, amazing
I've wondered this for a while. Is the level increase necessary for increasing the difficulty of the game? It seems to me that you could keep the normal levels while changing the Pokémon used and their movesets.
I read that speed affects crit in gen 1, do maybe they increased the level so enemies crit more? Idk much about this gen
There are some Pokémon over level 100 so for normal people I think that’s meant to make them play better
@@diegoesaa8289 crits are based on a pokemons base speed so level ups dont increase your crit chance
It's probably so you can't out level the bosses as easily.
It's probably because Gen 1 AI is questionable at best, so it needs at least this kind of edge to make it a bit more fair.
Crystal Kaizo and Emerald Kaizo looking from behind
Omg i watched the whole video rooting for you. This was insane, best pokemon video ever !
I just started this game "seems easy enough" get to 2nd rival fight to the left of Varidian and the Mew is already kicking my ass. I'll just watch you play lol
I almost never like video's on RUclips but half a year of atempting this shit, well fucking done, so awesome m8, you deserved it
Hope you're ready to get back to Emerald Kaizo... I'm sure it'll be super easy after the egglocke is done
Congrats dude! You love to see it!
I think the romhack maker intentionally left those in and based the romhack around abusing/dealing with all of Gen 1's bullshit LOL

Nice video man! The sub notification right in the center of the screen is kind of long and takes the attention away from the run.. perhaps putting it in the corner would be best? Waiting for more content!
Yeah but can you beat Pokemon Light Platinum without getting bored to death???
Ikr... it’s just so stretched out and obnoxious, some of the areas take forever to traverse, and most of the story is so unnecessary. I did have fun for about the first 5 or so hours then it grew completely stagnant.

Where did you download it?
Dude how many hours of level grinding did you have to do between gyms? Insane that you were able to pull this off
Was wondering the same. I’m assuming the rare candy hack wasn’t allowed? Was max speeding the rom to grind wild pokemon on the indigo plateau allowed? I always wished that you could challenge gym leaders again after earning all eight badges, just to make grinding Pokemon levels more engaging
@@Inali097 Blue Kaizo has pretty high level wild pokemon, so grinding is actually pretty easy, at least it was in my casual play through. I believe he allows himself to speed up the game in the emulator during grinding sessions to make it go by faster. It's similar to Emerald Kaizo, in that, the shop at the Indigo Plateau sells Rare Candies for $1 to allow the player to get their whole team up for lvl 100 before the Elite 4
And he starts crystal Kaizo literally tomorrow (later today for those in different timezones.) Speaking of which, head over to his twitch stream to check it out, participate in the votes that kill off his pokemon, hang out with the community, and enjoy it all real time.
