Jaiden: Aw man, I could really use a salamence right about now…
Jan, emerging from the depths of hell: *Y O U C A L L E D?*
Jaiden has invaded the pokemon world at this point.
There is a good reason the AI would send out a pokemon with a super effective move yet a weak typing vs yours; the AI isn't expecting you to be on set mode. Therefore, you are far less likely to switch out your pokemon if you see the incoming pokemon is weak to yours and the AI is more likely to have a super effective move to use against you.
Oh wait that actually makes sense, wow!
So, the AI is designed (as well as it's team) to bait you into committing into standing in front of a pokemon shaped howitzer? Cool.
it also makes sense that the previous pokemon probably would have lowered the speed, so when a weak pokemon comes in you are not likely to switch and are probably likely to be slowed down by the previous mon, therefore you get hit by a supereffective move
@@Msatthew great analogy

I really feel there is something to be said about how the hardest challenge, the big #1, took 151 tries. something with 151 tries and the fact of gen 1's pokedex count, I'm just not as smart as Jan so I've got nothing.
The original 151 is where pokemon started and attempt 151 is where Emerald Kaizo ended. Making it a very poetic and thematically appropriate conclusion.
To be a Pokemon Master is Jan's destiny.
The 151st pokémon is Mew, who can use any TM in existence.
Including, apparently, the mythical TM 151: Beat Kaizo.
The Mew run

Needless to say, that was an anime character development for Jan haha❤
Glacia: ☠️☠️☠️
To everyone experiencing this for the first time on youtube, I cannot stress this enough. Watching the elite 4 of attempt 151 live as it was happening was the ABSOLUTE BEST experience I've every had on Twitch. It was So. Unbelievably. Intense. especially after he lost Ludicolo to Glacia. We now know after the fact that he would win but he could've easily lost it all and that uncertainty made for some movie-grade dramatic tension watching it live.
Twitch Plays Pokemon was like that too. When it was over, I felt like the Truman Show had gone off the air, and I didn't know what to do with myself. I'd had it running every minute I was home for over a week. I played Pokemon Silver on the side while it all went down. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. They tried to recreate it with attempts at other versions, but it was never quite the same as when there were 121,000 people playing the same game of Pokemon online, all at the same time.
i was watching it live at work and oh my god my coworkers must have been so annoyed but i was into it
same i barely use twitch and being there live was so amazing, the chat and atmosphere was so hype
Truly was the best thing when I was in twitch

I have been binging a lot of your content lately, and I wanted to say that this has been one of your best videos I have found. Both in the pacing, editing, and story telling. I know you have mentioned how much you want to tell a compelling story like Alpharad and other channels. But, remember you clearly have your own voice in story telling and it is shown here. Jan legit got me to Nuzlocke the main games. I was already a huge fan of routing, but Nuzlockes added a new layer that is so much fun(I did a Hilarious thing where I delayed my route 113 encounter for after Aqua Hideout because I really wanted Skarmory, so my plan was Aqua Hideout, catch an Electrode, go to New Mauville and catch my ensured Magnemite, pray it had Magnet Pull, which it did, and go to 113 with Magneton as the lead to raise my chance to get Skarm up to 50%. it blows my mind how intricate everything is when you run a nuzlock. The tricks to guarantee certain Pokémon encounters is insane!
Seems like cheating lol
@@DuskLegend It's cheating in the same sense that counting cards in blackjack is; it's solving a math problem to give you the best chance of winning. Might be out of the spirit of the game, but it depends where you are and who you're playing with.
In this case, the gauntlet set up is so nuts, and homeboy is only playing against himself, so IMO he can make the rules. It's not like the game is perfectly solved either ("solved" meaning a player can force a win - Connect 4 is a solved game; if you let me go first and I play the middle column, I can always beat you, no matter where you play.) He has to adapt and re-optimize his strategy based on random encounters, and he had some close calls and slip-ups.
Reminds me of a video I saw about this controversial golfer named Bryson DeChambeau; he has a physics and a math degree and boy he _uses_ them -- but he takes fucking ages on the green because he's pulling out the goddamn astrolabe to validate the accuracy of course map geometry. I personally think that it takes people like that to advance excellence in the sport, but it would be annoying to play with someone like that in a casual context.
Definitely against the spirit of the challenge. You're not supposed to be able to grind until you catch what you want, you're supposed to get what you're given and deal with that. This trick makes the outcome the same as if the challenge wasn't there.
@@DuskLegend the duplicate clause was made to prevent people from having like 5 rattatas or 5 pidgeys due to bad luck with encounters. He's essentially exploiting the rule but not really breaking any others.
@@meepmeep3874 to be fair, when you’re dealing with this challenge especially, you need to do this to guarantee encounters that make certain strategies consistent so you’re not playing the same thing over and over and over again. Especially in an already RNG heavy run, adding many unnecessary potentially run killing rng checks make the game so much more annoying.
Love the cameos
The sponsor segment was actually top tier since trying to skip it would take away from the Brawly fight
Win well deserved
He learned from mr beast 🙂
@@manasmishra928 idk why but i think Jan did it better
Yes, that's exactly what I did.
I've recently been watching tier zoo a lot just randomly, never have before and this is the video I watched probably a week after stumbling upon his channel. The videos both you guys make are amazing! Love all the Collab's in this video As-well (:
Being in the live chat during this run was truly a legit experience. It was absolutely magical. What a journey.
what is a legit experience?
real experience
The 151 E4 finale was the single best livestream I've ever watched.
List of references I'm proud I got :
28:58 "I must have been eating a chicken sandwich when playing for this fight, or something..."
38:42 "... and pulls a Bruce Willis, sacrificing itself to the meteor."
47:51 "Missing this Hydro Pump would have gotten me into very hot water." (I feel like I HAD to include this one or else I was gonna be in trouble... just a feeling though)
51:06 "No time to question my moves, I stick to the path that I choose."
53:33 "Weather update : it's raining ! Severe flooding alert ! The entire world is now a ocean."
58:43 "Someone maliciously manipulating their team stats to cheat would probably give this viable IVs."
What was 58:43 a reference to btw
@@alandtic4616 ruclips.net/video/7ExL8BQBEOA/видео.html&ab_channel=Pok%C3%A9monChallenges
i think its refering to this
@@alandtic4616 some person claiming as nuzlocke judge or something accused him of cheating the slowbro coz he maybe randomised the IVs of nurse
Ya it's really childish
can you explain all the references?
@@strawberrijam3676 28:58 is a reference to the Jaiden Animations and Alpharad Soul Link Nuzlocke: Alpharad ordered food sometime during the Team Rocket Raid in their Heart Gold and Soul Silver runs, and was eating a chicken sandwich when he lost a Pokémon to the Earthquake-on-Dig attack boost, because he wasn’t paying attention to the moves he was using.
53:33 Mannnnnnn that threw me back. This was a rollercoaster to watch , learned a lot about nuzlockes , ty. Props for the huge challenge and perseverance.
love the big short style of commentary from others explaining the nuance of the emerald mod and fighting details
PChal at the start of the video: "This is probably gonna be really nerdy."
Pchal at the end of the video: Literally measuring hp bars with a ruler.
I think he delivered!
If you watched his entire journey live from attempt 1 to attempt 151, y’all are legends. We witnessed something great
Get a life brah
Yessir
We witnessed gaming history live
I joined somewhere around attempt 40, if I remember correctly. He was fighting Maxie and made some sacrifice during the fight and won, and the chat was going insane. I didn't even know who Jan was at the time, but that was all I needed to see to know I was in on whatever "Emerald Kaizo" was. I also caught the last fight of the 151st run live.
"Tries Emerald Kaizo" (In late 2020) to "How I beat Emerald Kaizo".
i've watched this run multiple times the last couple days cause im just in awe. this is freaking crazy.
I really enjoy the explanation parts of your videos, I really enjoyed the battle music of mystic quest (8:00). I'm playing pokemon since 2003 and still am pretty bad but since I'm silently watching I thing I'm getting back in game, especially by playing all gens again with my GF and missing all the good features of the newer gens.
17:05 I think the gimmick is that it is meant to pull you into a false sense of security. You see the ai being out a mon with a type disadvantage you might feel compelled to leave yours in rather than switch out. This allows the ai to get off a super effective move possibly either fainting your mon or simply dealing massive damage. Thing is though is that they should’ve also coded in that this switch only happens if the ais Pokémon is faster than the one the player has out. Or if the move in question is a priority move. Cause if it’s slower, then the ai loses a Pokémon fairly unceremoniously
The AI is already given a ton of advantages compared to you. As if it needed to check out your speed stat as well in order to make the decisions
@@M4x_P0w3r lmaoooo not really, the AI is pretty hamstrung in Pokémon. All it really knows over a player is if it will kill with a move or not.
God, revisiting this, I got to say that I can not believe the work that put into overcoming this Elite 4. Every step is overwhelmingly delicate and immaculately planned…and then to have it all go up in flames and to still defeat Steven with 3 mons?! Overwhelmingly legendary
I’m so happy to see my favorite Pokémon slowbro be the winning mon and a pivotal one at that. Congrats Jan!!!
This is now my comfort video and I've watched it at least 5 times at this point
"There was a second bomb this entire time." Literal chills omg
Hmmmm, steel beam integrity, the self destruct around Hoenn… curious, Jan.
Congrats on finally wrapping up the Emerald Kaizo story! Looking forward to Platinum Kaizo someday ;D
when does that come out?

As always, a tremendous accomplishment Jan
What I love most about his reaction to winning is that he said “we beat this” instead of “I”
That's a pretty normal thing for streamers and youtubers xP
@@peculiarityenjoyer2053 do not cite the deep magic to me, witch. I was there when it was written

I like that you updated the video with more insightful game mechanics and edits
Those random cutaways were hilarious, especially the Cars one. Love your videos, if i ever actually attempt a nuzlocke I'm definitely using your nuzlockes for advice
Me before the video: "heh, I'll nuzlocke kaizo and show this guy it ain't shit"
Me not even halfway through the video: "this guy knows literally everything and is calculating encounters and even sacrificing mons to a perfect degree, I am an arrogant moron and should be ashamed for thinking otherwise."
Same, I just beat Roxanne with great encouters with 2 deaths and apparently that's a reset lmao
