That Mt Pyre fight was so heartbreaking to watch... Even worse when he ran it back on speed up after wiping and we got to see how free the fight was if everything didn't go wrong.
My favorite quote from Jan during the fight was, “Someone asked, “What happened?” and another person said, “Sirfetched got frozen.” and that’s like asking what happened on 9/11, and saying that a bunch of flights got delayed”
There it is. THAT'S why I cringe every time I see comment use that quote but I agree with Karen. "Favourite" is such a vague term that varies from person to person that trying to use the quote to admonish any use of a meta mon is foolishness. Are you really going to tell people they can't like Incin, the VGC king and far more importantly, many people's starter through Alola just because it's meta but sing praises about Pachurisu when Se Jun Park has stated it wasn't his favourite, it was the best fit for his team and strat at the time and became his favourite?
@nousername191 The talk around Pachirisu and that event with Se Jun Park is that, regardless of what the man himself says, people will always see the little electric squirrel and go "Look, he took a bad Pokémon and made it win a World Championship, even using it in his finals battles." And then every VGC player or RUclips video that goes over the fights proceeds to tell the proper reason as to why it was chosen. I mean, sure, I'd love to win a World Championship with Audino, my favorite Pokémon, but the meta is so hostile to Pokémon like it that an Audino winning worlds is never gonna happen.
Hawlucha tried to stop Ledian : “I thought we weren’t allowed to die when there’s no point to it !” Ledian calmly answered : “There is a point to it. Significance, too. Or are you Pchal’s favorite because you're the strongest?” Hawlucha stopped for a second “I’ve decided how I'll live my life. It's wrong. That's not how chances work. It's not oh let's add up everything that happened. It gives an opportunity to shed some light on unpopular encounters and smaller fights that might get cut from full-run recap videos. It's cool to see the in-between moments that, despite not being pivotal boss fights, still define how the run will ultimately play out.
I have a friend whose favorite mon is Wooper. His nuzlockes (which he does as randomizers) always include what he calls the "Wooper clause": if he runs into a wild Wooper, he *must* catch it, even if it's not the first encounter of the route. But, once he catches it, it *stays* on his team permanently, and if it dies, the run is over, even if the rest of his team survives. He has embraced his favorite, and has woven it into his runs. Script on this one was fantastic. Love the curveball of the Archie fight being solved only to be lost, even if I already knew it from streams/highlights. RIP Run 2, the team clutched it out to go so much longer than it should have on paper.
This may be the best ‘I need to get a video out at the end of the month to fulfil a sponsor requirement’ ever. Such good story telling, such a cool thumbnail, just such a great concept
great video. extremelly well navigated last fight showing the rerun attempt at the last fight (that went fucking smoothly) as an example for the plan that you were going for and slightly foreshadowing the upcoming failure, then enumerating the things that went wrong and putting up a number for the people to understand how unlucky that was yet not crying over it and making that a lesson to keep improving in your gameplay and way of seeing things for further attempts. currently following attempt 5 btw. revenge is god damn close.
this is genuinely one of the best-written, paced, and emotional videos you've ever posted. It's really. REALLY well made. I love how all the seemingly disconnected part tie together so cleanly and meaningfuly into that final message. awesome work by you and your team!!

Lots of creators try to implement words from their sponsors in a way that feels unforced and natural, but I genuinely think you are setting the standard in that regard. I always appreciate your different creative approaches to this discipline. In general, the production value is really superb in your videos. So thank you!

The ends reminds me of my first s/v nuzlock that made it to Grusha. My skelidurge swept him to his altaria, and would have one-shot. But then… Altaria hits hurricane (70%), confuses skeli (30%), who proceeded to hit himself (30%). I then switch to my cyclizar to get rid of confusion and then switch back in with shed tail, but gets frozen (10%) Switched to clodsire, who also got frozen (again 10%) I don’t remember exactly what happened after that, but I failed to paralyse with several body slams (30% each), multiple key hurricanes hit, ie. Killing my breloom and they got the range to finish of my skelidurge. In the end, ‘‘twas my clodsire, who eventually unthawed, vs. the altaria, now chipped down into the red. Clod couldn’t out speed, but could survive one more hit, and finish altaria. It crit. Clod died. (1/24 in modern games)
A friend and I do pretty casual nuzlocke stuff, really just playing for fun. When we did a randomzied soul link of black 2 and white 2, we got very attached to a pair we got in castelia sewers, my Meinshao and his Seismitoad (both lovingly named Meintoad) to the point where when we finally lost that duo on the Ghetsis fight, we basically ended the run. We could keep going, but the loss of our favorite pair in that run was so strong it kind of killed the mood permanently. tldr, when you lose your favorites, it really hurts

I love how Jan has really honed his craft with these scripts, and has really improved on the story telling aspect of these nuzlocke recaps. Looking forward to watching him get better and better!
I really enjoyed this one. I think we really need to grow up and remember we like these games not just because of the numbers and strategy, but also because of the designs, the stories we make along the way, while there will *always* be the optimal strategies and choices, that doesn't mean we can pretend to be emotionless and act like we have absolutely 0 bias when we play. We play because we like certain things about what we play. Coming to terms with it allows us to make the decisions we need to
Damn. It'd be cool to have a run where you name your pokemon the names that they had when they got the furthest in your previous run. Maybe it'd be somewhat of a sequel to hawluchas story.
As funny as the “end of the month” joke may be, this is a genuine very well put together video and I can tell you out a lot of time into it. You’re doing a great job with the new content direction. I love watching how your channel has grown over the years. Keep up the great work!
I think what Karen's trying to get across is less "your favorites can be viable if you try hard enough" and more "this game's a lot more interesting when people bring themselves to the table."
Now, I am one to usually skip sponsors but what you did here was brilliant. Explaining the runs mechanics while only mentioning the sponsor for 5 seconds prevented me from skipping anything.
You're my favourite Nuzlocker on YT. I'm always happy when your videos come out. I love your no-nonsense narration style and approach. Looking forward to the next part (which I hope still drops despite your emotional attachment to Hawlucha...)
Fabulous video. Jan has evolved as a challenge runner & a YTer. When he beats R&B i hope the channel explodes again. A happy Patreon subscriber for the Nuzlocke 🐐
As a pChal Daily frog I was waiting for a video on attempt 2. Seeing all the build-up to the Archie battle was devastating, that battle was truly heartbreaking. Banger video as always Jan!
No, I can assure you that Karen was talking out of her ass with that one. They even put a guy in ORAS's Battle Resort to tell the player that she was wrong
When you surround yourself in the sphere of hardcore/competitive gameplay, of course Karen seems to be that way but one has to remember, the casual runs of Pokemon games pretty much predicate on this fact. The first time anyone plays a Pokemon game casually, they assuredly got to the E4 with a team of favorite Pokemon, not a carefully selected comp meta team to curbstomp them and the Champion. If the person loses, they don't sulk off and then go get a competitive team- they just try again and again. Sometimes grind if they need to. "Optimization" isn't something a majority of players will *ever* do. Also, Nuzlocke's in the og sense basically predicate on this too. What starts out as a team of random chance becomes your favs for that specific run, if it gets there. The hardcore, min-maxxing side of Nuzlockes is a very very recent phenom.
Ah, the video of Run 2 wiping to Pyre Tag right on time for when Run 5 probably wipes to the same battle this week also 2:07 dafaq is that E4 team with Gorebyss Exeggutor and Walrein?
I’m honestly loving the refusal to reset despite seemingly unbeatable odds. Like, instead of saying “nah we can’t win because we got Ledian instead of Corviknight” we get to see how far Jan made it *despite* getting Ledian.

What an ending to the video! your script writing has gotten way better, really enjoyed the story and the video. Keep going strong on attempt 5!
Seeing the one chatter say "f**k you ledian" while Jan is saluting it absolutely sent me😂
was about to start a walk. couldn't find a video to listen to while i walked. this drops immediately. walk begins.
Enjoy your stroll.
Fine ill go on a 420 walk
Bro walking is underrated. Enjoy that walk, my scrow
Script on this one was fantastic. Love the curveball of the Archie fight being solved only to be lost, even if I already knew it from streams/highlights. RIP Run 2, the team clutched it out to go so much longer than it should have on paper.
This run really was full of unexpected GOAT encounters with their own narratives and niches, it was beautiful to witness
The percentage in the last part really drove home how unlucky that was
It's not always what it is, but sometimes it do be like that
After seeing a bidoof sweep an entire team of legendary Pokémon, I can confirm that quote
The thumbnail is so fire
46:27 "Focus Blast hits - 30%" so real
Pchal daily viewers be like: ahhhh yes he's condensed the tragic attempt 2 into a video. I'm here for it lol

“People should win with their favorites”
My favorites are Incineroar and Landorus-T

Thank you for the vid! This was a nice little story you put together. It's astonishing how random chance encounters can snowball into actual bits of personal narrative.
Forgot it was the end of the month already. Gotta keep those advertisers happy
Remember when he said he wouldn’t do this anymore?
@@silverytc1566yea but he’s also streaming regularly now
@@linguisticsstudy9177 yeah, but don’t say you are going to change your RUclips channel by not posting only for the end of the month and then yet continue to do so. Not everyone can catch his streams

@@silverytc1566 pretty cringe comment, especially since hes streaming again and uploading to pchal daily
Having only watched the pchal daily video of this fight I had no idea that there was another route to winning that fight, I thought you just got extremely unlucky and there was nothing you could have done, but hearing you admit to the world that your run would still be alive if you sacked Hawlucha for this fight instead was such a big plot twist
Same lol i had no idea about thwt
philosophical pchal is a different breed
Lots of creators try to implement words from their sponsors in a way that feels unforced and natural, but I genuinely think you are setting the standard in that regard. I always appreciate your different creative approaches to this discipline. In general, the production value is really superb in your videos. So thank you!
That croagunk-ledian-lucha art is so cool looking, I love it. Great video, I hope the next onee covers your victorious run
Erm actually it’s toxicroak 🤓👆
Dude. Your script writing and storytelling has gotten so much better over the years. I remember the whole "ahh im not good at intros heres what we doing today" and now I get a full cinematic experience along with the great nuzlocke content. *Chefs kiss* Great work
God attempt 2 was special
The ends reminds me of my first s/v nuzlock that made it to Grusha. My skelidurge swept him to his altaria, and would have one-shot. But then…
Altaria hits hurricane (70%), confuses skeli (30%), who proceeded to hit himself (30%).
I then switch to my cyclizar to get rid of confusion and then switch back in with shed tail, but gets frozen (10%)
Switched to clodsire, who also got frozen (again 10%)
I don’t remember exactly what happened after that, but I failed to paralyse with several body slams (30% each), multiple key hurricanes hit, ie. Killing my breloom and they got the range to finish of my skelidurge.
In the end, ‘‘twas my clodsire, who eventually unthawed, vs. the altaria, now chipped down into the red. Clod couldn’t out speed, but could survive one more hit, and finish altaria.
It crit. Clod died. (1/24 in modern games)
evil 💀
Jan's storytelling has gotten so much better. The end of this video was genuinely good
This was so good! I love the storytelling, the quality, and the game play. Thank you for the hard work PChal and Team.
We could keep going, but the loss of our favorite pair in that run was so strong it kind of killed the mood permanently.
tldr, when you lose your favorites, it really hurts
jan unleashing full story mode mode
Another Jan banger. The Run & Bun victory video is going to be insane
What an incredible video. Loved how you weaved a narrative around your arc playing RnB. Will be putting it on my "favourite videos of all time" playlist. GG Jan.
Detroit the Togedemaru was also absolutely a Guy, btw. Pour one out for him.
The Archie fight was so fucking brutal.
"winning with your favorites" sounds like it could be a fun (and unique to each player) challenge in itself tbh
27:40 Was not expecting the pewdiepie on the bridge lol I almost spit out my ass
The song that starts at 12:25 took me off guard-
I played the game it comes from when it came out! It had such a small English-speaking community! Sanabi is best game and so is its soundtrack
To anybody wondering, its SANABI OST 21- Mari
Theres another one at 39:10 - an absolute banger too! SANABI OST 27- Great Escape
43:18 is a song I listen to quite often as an enjoyer of game osts!! SANABI OST 39- Chapter 5.
45:16 , OST 32, honestly a super heartbreaking part of the game.
Yes I am advertising this game I love in a comments section at this point.
48:22 , OST 10- A Worn Duty. Fitting.
That freeze was such a kick in the nuts tho
Your videos are the only ones I can immediately think of where I'm actually inclined to watch the full ad read
I like that, coincidentally, this vid is coming up just as we're approaching the Run 2 PB.
7:55 that Easter Egg was freaking hilarious.
For those who don't know (which is presumably 99% of pchal's fanbase), Kristoffer Jonas Klauß is a German gangster rapper that beat up a swan once
The thing about Claire's quote is that the world it's said in is NOT pokemon Run and Bun. It's pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal.
In the universe it's said in it makes perfect sense and is entirely valid. You've just left that world.
It's Karen, not Claire
Karen is a nice cool woman, and Claire is a whiny b***h
Karen*
I love how Jan has really honed his craft with these scripts, and has really improved on the story telling aspect of these nuzlocke recaps. Looking forward to watching him get better and better!
Absolute banger
46:26 watching Jan as dragalge used focus blast was kinda heartbreaking. He goes from super pissed to just begging for his Lucario’s life
This feels like it’s going to be a banger
Know exactly what you mean. Thumbnail and title putting in work
As funny as the “end of the month” joke may be, this is a genuine very well put together video and I can tell you out a lot of time into it. You’re doing a great job with the new content direction. I love watching how your channel has grown over the years. Keep up the great work!
I think what Karen's trying to get across is less "your favorites can be viable if you try hard enough" and more "this game's a lot more interesting when people bring themselves to the table."
One of my favourite vids in awhile. I really enjoy the added layer of story to this run. Definitely felt the attachment to these characters.
you cooked this vid to perfection well done jan
Now, I am one to usually skip sponsors but what you did here was brilliant. Explaining the runs mechanics while only mentioning the sponsor for 5 seconds prevented me from skipping anything.
Always love a pChal update
47:23 I really admire pchals patience, i could never do this.
really like the new direction your videos are going 👍💙
This gave me shivers, im ready for the emerald kaizo quality for run and bun playthrough

Watching you replay that Mt.Pyre double right after flawlessly still bring me sorrow. But yet so much joy we get to continue the journey. Here's to #5
Hell yeah new Pchal upload
You're my favourite Nuzlocker on YT. I'm always happy when your videos come out. I love your no-nonsense narration style and approach. Looking forward to the next part (which I hope still drops despite your emotional attachment to Hawlucha...)
certain music choices makes me wonder if pokerogue may get a video soon..
Fabulous video. Jan has evolved as a challenge runner & a YTer. When he beats R&B i hope the channel explodes again. A happy Patreon subscriber for the Nuzlocke 🐐
Sirloin tender Steak
As a pChal Daily frog I was waiting for a video on attempt 2. Seeing all the build-up to the Archie battle was devastating, that battle was truly heartbreaking. Banger video as always Jan!
No, I can assure you that Karen was talking out of her ass with that one. They even put a guy in ORAS's Battle Resort to tell the player that she was wrong
Ngl Karen is valid, actually. If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to force a square peg through a round hole
She was talking about silver. It wasn't meant to be a general statement.
@@Fanimati0nyou won't. High level battles need optimization.
@@yousquiddingme Also considering that the Competitive scene wouldn't be born for a decade
What a fantastic conclusion. Congratulations on such a great video, man
Sponsors: "Pchall! Did you remember to get started on your homework?"
Pchall: "...Cant I just have 29 more days? Then I'll get started!"
The story telling in this video is so good. Honestly, I dont think any of Alpharads videos have made me tear up, this was so good.
Ah, the video of Run 2 wiping to Pyre Tag right on time for when Run 5 probably wipes to the same battle this week
also 2:07 dafaq is that E4 team with Gorebyss Exeggutor and Walrein?
I’m honestly loving the refusal to reset despite seemingly unbeatable odds. Like, instead of saying “nah we can’t win because we got Ledian instead of Corviknight” we get to see how far Jan made it *despite* getting Ledian.
pChal scripts 📈
Daaaamn, that was such a great video. That script was f***ing amazing too, I genuinely got attached to this run and it hurts so much to see that fight on Mt Pyre. Especially after you showed what could of happened. Keep up the great work
Ngl I watched all of this on pchal daily, but have forgotten the events, so it's still dramatic as hell and I love it.
no views in 22 seconds pchal really fell off
Can you maybe shut up like just guard your Jojo
Thank you for your insight to this video. You really made an incredible observation from a perspective no person has ever thought to think from. Your joke is so original I can't even begin to comprehend the intricacy and the hidden meaning behind this poetic statement. You're not a clown, you're the entire circus.
