There are certain types that have an huge imbalance in the physical/Special move pools... Electric has only Zing Zap, Nuzzle, wild charge(Recoil tho) and Spark( as physical options for what I can remember (Zing Zap is the strongest but not widespread)
Fairy is the worst offender, with only Play Rough, a 90BP/90ACc move (5BP lower than Moonblast and only 5BP over Dazzling Gleam) but at least it is widespread but not a reliable move (if it's not 100%accuracy it's 50%).Had many games lost in Showdown to Play Rough misses
Psychic type physical moves are also kinda meh.. Zen Headbutt is strong but inaccurate(I use Wide Lens in my Medicham in my Pokemon Reborn playthrough, it is a pretty pog mon) Heart Stamp is weak and psycho cut is pretty okay I guess
Also again Fire only has Flare Blitz (f***k Recoil) blaze kick(not widespread), flame charge(weak) and Fire Fang (not 100%accuracy)
Fighting is one of the ones in the contrary situation, with only Aura Sphere, Focus Miss and Vacuum Wave as special moves*and Keldeo's signature as well but I'm not counting Legendary signatures

I mean for nuzlockes FlygonHG is better since he's actually done 100s of hardcore nuzlockes himself not just this one
@@hkarma8580 I'm not certain about that. Wolfey got to the Elite 4 in Emerald Kaizo, which is extremely impressive, because he only played Emerald Kaizo for just 1-2 Months if I remember codrectly and he got as far as PC got in like 8 months. Just because you don't have as much experience in Nuzlockes, it doesn't mean that you can't be amazing at them (even though that is obviously a factor), because being one of the best pokémon players ever will also be a huge pro for Nuzlockes.
@@huekeks2231 A lot of people look at how long it PC is taking with Emerald Kaizo, but leave out how he started out blind with no help. but people starting now start out with 20 different calculators, catalogued exact stats of every pokemon in every fight, and tons of written strategy and advice.
@@orangesilver8 Yes, that is true. I still think that getting to the elite 4 even with all of the calcukators rn is impressive and that Wolfey is an amazing Nuzlocker. I love the question "Who plays pokemon for the story?" in twitch chat. No one plays it primarily for the story, but jesus does it have to be complete shit each gen? Even if you don't play it for the story, doesn't mean they have to give you Cocomelon level storytelling.
Technically, when you play spin-offs like Pokémon Colosseum, Gale of Darkness, the Mystery Dungeon games, and the Ranger games, you then have games with great stories.
You don’t play mainline Pokémon for the stories.
But perhaps the worst part about Sword and Shield is that if you aren’t preparing for competitive, you are going to have a horrible time because everything about that game is crafted to be bad no matter how you play or for which reasons you play.
@Meese What are you smoking?
@@iantaakalla8180 graphics?
@@mochiyeosang1908 SwSh graphics are great compared to the 3DS games, but compared to other games of different series on the Switch, the graphics... weren’t great. Talking about the wild area specifically; the cities were pretty good-looking. Wild area had awful textural irregularities, weird framerate drops, and clipping, though the DLCs improved that stuff (didn’t eliminate it entirely still).
But DLC also brought that... less than desirable follow system, so... yeah.
And we also have to talk about the frankly underwhelming pokemon in-battle models. I’m sure they chose to downsize them in battle to make the dynamax models more impressive, but honestly how often do you see dynamax models as opposed to the regular ones? Totally breaks immersion to see a tween-sized Gyarados on the battlefield.
IC, graphics were a mixed bag
@@iantaakalla8180 but they don't have to be that bad. Many fan made games have great or at least adequate stories. It's great that the ranger games and gale darkness have good stories. Why can't that be in mainline games. Monotype nuzlockes can be really interesting in fangames where all mons from all generations are available, you end up with a lot of variety in encounters despite restricting yourself to monotype.
I remember it like it was yesterday when Jan used to complain about how he sucks at RUclips intros, and now he has a clean ass sponsor reel
Flygon: has a master plan to survive against clay.
Sandslash: no
The thing I love about these monotype nuzlockes is having to come up with extremely specific plans to beat the gyms or hard fights that have an advantage against you. Coming up with smart plans to beat the water and ground gyms are really interesting.
I remember this with my mono Rock run on BW2, I used everything I had in order to minimise the damage I was taking, using Light Screen, Sunny Day and multiple Struggle Bugs, as well as Safeguard. After sacking Onix (the MVP that swept the first 5 gyms, Clay included) to get rocks up, all of the setup allowed Crustle to set up twice on the Wailord despite the Scalds and SpD drops which allowed me to sweep with only the one planned sack.
Then you have Skyla who is basically just "set up rocks then haha shell smash".

"Although, to be fair, rival fights against Bianca are not that difficult."
This is a factually true statement; however, during my first ever Nuzlocke (I'm still on the same run, actually) in Pokemon Black, I was completely unaware that there was a Bianca fight on Route 8. This normally wouldn't be a problem, since Bianca really isn't a strong trainer; however, at the time it just so happened to be raining in my game. Since I picked Tepig as my starter (best Gen 5 starter btw), Bianca had a Simipour with Scald on her team. Most people, in this fight, would have a very easy switch into Simisage and move on with life. My idiot self left Simisage in the box and brought a team of Emboar, Darmanitan, Krookodile, Carracosta, Fraxure, and Cofagrigus. I thought that there was no way I would run into a trainer with a water type strong enough to break my Fraxure. Even when I saw the Simipour initially, I thought to myself, "That's no problem; my Fraxure has five levels of advantage."
The problem? I got burned and crit on switch-in. Now, instead of a good roll for an OHKO with easy 2HKO if not, I was dead to the next hit of Scald. And those who have Nuzlocked B/W should know how huge of an asset Haxorus can be for the Elite 4 and final battles (as I have been quickly learning by doing E4/Team Plasma prep). I quickly pulled up the damage calculator to see if I was in trouble, and (of course) I was. Emboar and Darmanitan were completely helpless, Krookodile could never pick up the OHKO I needed even if I sacked Emboar to bring it in, and Carracosta's bulk was so bad that it would be 2HKO'd (and at the time, I really wasn't sure what my E4 team would look like, so I didn't want to sack it). My only hope was Cofagrigus (and a crap ton of healing items). With the HP EVs I had invested, as well as Cofagrigus's natural bulk, Scald crit into burn damage was never an OHKO. So, I stalled out Bianca's uses of Scald. In the end, my Cofagrigus survived five crits, a second hit burn, and being dropped to 2 HP and put that stupid monkey six feet under. The rest of the fight was a piece of cake, with the rest of my team, but that's one of the few things about my run that has really stuck with me...
That and how stupid Bide is and the fond memory of Cress taking away my Lillipup because I just didn't have better death fodder at the time.

What I like about monotype challenges that they are kinda short and not encounter based or good rng based and it shows how much of a stategy you can juice out of a usually small selection of pokemon

13:05 he uses fire stone here to use flareon asap, because he needs more Pokémon and can’t use eevee because normal type
Fun fact for anyone curious, the reason Iris' Haxorus went for dragon dance is because it speed tied with Chandelure, and Gen 5 AI will almost always prioritize speed control over a kill. Also in case anyone's curious for Flygon's Chandelure to be speed tied with max speed EV's it had to have had either a 5 or 6 IV in speed, so at the end of the run all the EV training did in fact save the run.
after watching this story, I'm imagining this guy's character retiring after becoming champion and setting up his fire-type gym, which would soon become known as the Hell Gym by all trainers trying and failing to get a badge from him in the future...
