THE SCARIEST DRIVE I'VE EVER DONE | DRIVING TO ALASKA

- I had to drive the Duffy Highway on my way north to Alaska in January, this is the most nervous I've ever been with the truck house... slick ice roads and mud tires don't mix well... this is part 2...

Hi Tim - I’m waiting too. Won’t text you since it’s 4 hrs earlier there & you’re sleeping! Love Mom.
Hey you! I'll call you this week, almost back!:)
@@TruckHouseLife -I’m sure you mom has been nervous for you as well, that was a sketchy drive for sure, good thing you had the chains … keep in trucking safely 🤟🏼
Hi Timmy's mom. You did a damn good job!
Hi Miss Johnson
@@TaylorHomeCare yes Timmy’s mom… you sure did do a great job 😃
❤️ your channel.... be safe... I'm n lower 48... always wanted see Alaska.. keep posting... God bless buddy
My anxiety is off the chain 😂 and I'm drinking coffee sitting on my couch watching you you are hardcore Timmy be safe man you'll be there before you know it!
I also live in a box truck. I would wait it out, drink coffee and watch RUclips. :)
I watched this entire "series" yesterday catching up as I haven't had much time for youtube lately. Some great stuff and a cliffhanger every time!
Good video. Keep on trucking homeboy
I have a 7.3. I'm surprised how easy he starts his truck with the cold.
probs has a block heater to aid his glow boys. his truck looks pretty trick
I know, mine will crank for days in 40 degree weather 😩😂
It's hard to comprehend that was a sketchier drive than a rocky road with a drop off of a few hundred feet but I believe ya! Thanks for the ride!
That hill has a 19% grade going south into Pemberton...hell of ride going down.
If your "extra crazy" you can double the cross chains to create MORE consistent traction. I have done this for my skidloader chains. Additonally, with your over sized rims you might be able to use an emergency chain. Which are quicker.
On the black ice (and reg ice) you can go 2-3x faster with cables. They are nice to have in your arsenal ...AND they would clear your rear spring issue . SSC brand is what we generally use.
Yeah, camera doesn't really catch it...but when you hit that first hairpin ...yeah, I kinda got a Pucker Factor ....jeesshhh.
Well Done, Sir! Like a Professional!!
Definitely a scary drive that Highway 99 from Whistler to Lillooet always in the winter especially this year due to a slide, avalanche and ice and snow weather. Glad to see you made it through safely!
Great real life drama👍☮️❄️

It's good to realize that you're still breathing.
*_Thank you!_*
Tim i feel you have kinda understated the importance of "being prepared" fueling up at nearly every chance, having a very good stockpile of food, having chains for the truck [i feel chaining up one axle on the trailer would have been prudent] and being very cautious. you drove on roads in conditions that kill people and made it through safely. great content and keep it coming!!!
Yes Timmy did a great drive, I was waiting about Chains on trailer, Timmy said he just had one sit of chains, This was Mouth or More ago, So Timmy made it & truck, Great Video, Thanks Timmy, God Blessings from Iowa, USA
Yup I try to be prepared haha.
Nice job driving for the conditions. Take it easy and you'll arrive alive.
Keep em coming Timmy! This channel is becoming my favorite thing to watch everyday!
right on!
That looked fun but wouldn’t want to make a habit of it 👍👍😎
I'm glad to hear someone else consider the past when dealing with what is really a minor inconvenience. 5 mph in a heated cab is a helluva lot better than in a Conestoga or on a horse.
Glad you made it safely.
fact!
easy to take for granted.
we are definitely fortunate to have this technology.
those of us who are allowed to know how to manage it, that is.
Cayoosh reminds me of Red Mountain Pass on steroids! Wow, the places pioneers built roads 😁
Wow you are a awesome driver buddy. Know what you talking been there done that lol 🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦🛠️
Well done Timmy !!!
Tim, I appreciate you taking us on your adventure and being safe! Love your stuff!
I have to say, I stopped breathing a couple of times. A nightmare when you don't have any control. Nice one Timmy
White knuckle ride and wasn't even with you 😆. Thanks Florida Joe
🙈🙈🙈 I probably would of just lost my shit and walked down that pass. Lol glad you made it safely
Wow! I felt the tension on that one! Stay safe out there!
You're nailin' it brother, slow and steady. Great videos, Probably a good stiff shot of some Canadian whiskey tonight once you're all settled in, you deserve it. Cheers!
And people wonder why i don’t drive home to NW BC too often. Hmmmm … got sick of doing that drive twice a year. Safe travels and good luck
I drove that same bend on 99 this past April - that was scary without snow! A bit further on, there were very steep climbs and drops - pretty sure my brakes were failing on one slope, and I had to pulse and pull over to cool them off. Beautiful scenery, if you make it out.
Ha I would have sat and waited until the roads were clear! 😂🤣
I was nervous for you. Stay safe. 👍
Tim is a skilled and patient driver. Good video !!
Love the sound of that old diesel
Glad you made it through those sketchy sections, my girlfriend and I visited Lillioett last spring and that mountain pass is sketchy any day let alone in the winter! Well done man and im glad you're safe, love the channel, keep on trucking my friend😊✌🏼
Glad too see you made it over safely! Looking forward to the next video. Stay safe while trucking up there.
I can't believe you didn't stop and have a beer!!
I would have drank with Thanks!!
Nice work timmy!!
Hi Mom
Peace
maybe I did;)
Watching you drive those icy roads in the mountain passes brought back a lot of memories of my years driving my 18 wheeler in those conditions and the work out I got chaining up. All your videos are awesome, keep them coming and safe travels back to Alaska!
This a Mouth or More behind So Timmy been in Alaska on live, So I know Timmy and trucks are Okay
Good thing you put them on the front ! You wouldn't make the switchbacks downhill otherwise. Good driving !
Hope you made it safe without issue Timmy. Been thinking about you man. God bless you.
You Missed His Live He been in Alaska for Mouth or More, Timmy Okay & His trucks Made it. To Me nice see His Tripe, Great Videos Timmy Thanks You
I am so happy you are ok. My heart was pounding too. Please my friend stay safe. You got this.
Betty 🐻
Hi Betty
I enjoyed the videos they're relaxing to watch
lol
Omg! I am freaking out watching you! I am so afraid of driving in the snow. So happy you made it safely. Great videos, I am binge watching! Be safe my friend!
Timmy, you've got to start giving an itinerary. I am sure people watching wouldn't mind helping you out with a place to park, suggestions to cool spots, or a hot shower.
If he's in a bind he can always ask on the community tab
too much info;)
Let your tire air out on a block and chain up, re air and then they will be firm and travel faster. :)
I would've had to take valium if I was riding with you. There is no way in hell I would have driven it myself. I'm fairly brave for a woman but, there's no way would I take on those mountains in the snow pulling all that rig. Good job, Timmy.
lol
It’s all about perspective my man and you’ve got the right idea. Hearing you talk about how the people had to do that travel back in the day made me smile. That’s how I approach building my homestead. Sure it’s hard but it could be much harder.
I know the Duffy well and it is gnar ….nicely done bud
Woohoo. Made it. 👍 lookin forward to the next video.
Bet it’s a real nice drive in the summer. Again it’s making for some epic content.
Epic adventure, thanks for bringing us along... be safe Timmy
I love my wheel adapters, (had same issue on used rims i bought but didnt check ford 8 lug pattern and inset was off.. my 1986 has late model lug pattern now.. they spaced my rim out now... Great Videos!!!!
I’ve driven winter roads in Montana and Alaska. I could feel my blood pressure rising while watching this. You did a great job.
The Lillooet Valley was pretty spectacular.
Talking about the old days like that. I think the same thing traversing death valley in the middle of summer with the ac blasting and a 48oz double gulp with lot of ice. You still crazy man!!
I’m loving these videos of yours so much ! Keep them coming please !
Thanks!
Please have a trip over the mountains God bless 🙏❤️
so pleased to see part 2 had been published. as MAV says, "keep on truckin'":)
Big balls. Thanks Timmy for sharing Timmy! I've driven this pass a few times mostly summer and really enjoyed watching. Anyway cheers from Australia
You have such an amazing attitude and perspective. Love the channel. Please keep these awesome vids coming. Stay safe and have fun out there.
Thank you! Will do!
Some risks shouldn't be taken. Gotta consider the consequences if things don't pan out. As a pilot of experimental aircraft, I'm used to evaluating risk and deciding go/no-go. But I don't think I would have done that pass. Bad weather that can render your vehicle completely uncontrollable in hazardous terrain is not a risk I would take. That sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach should usually be listened to. Drive safe, Timbo.
Good ol BC, glad you’re doing good!
This is the best series of RUclips videos I've seen in a long time. So epic!
Thanks!
Black ice is everywhere in the shaded areas of the mountains in winter. Add the long ascents and descents. Strongly suggest driving during the daylight hours if possible. Most importantly take your time. Go over an embankment and you might not get spotted till spring or summer. Good luck.
Bro your truck is a beast. I own a 99 f350 7.3. There is no other truck that can even come close. Love all your content.
Good luck driving and be safe!
Dang Tim i know how that feels, in november I went on a caribou hunt near circle ak and going uphill with my trailer it jack knifed like you had and the trailer actually saved me by getting stuck in the snow on the edge of the cliff. Goodluck on your travels back to AK!
Great job tim negotiating the mountains, very impressed.safe travels cant wait to see alaska and wheelin w the samari👍🇺🇸
Thanks for taking us along.
Yay!
I was a tire chain repair man/garage man for salt trucks for 5 years. We made chain bungee cords from old innertubes they are more elastic than the ones you are using and we put multiple ones on each tire say 6 to a tire. Makes them super tight.
Cool glad you made it.
You just found the reason a lot of people keep trucks stock. Tires, chains, parts easy to find and work without modification. I lost my fuze box on my datsun in the middle of night. Flashlight held in my left hand as light in a rainstorm outside of Whitehorse. It was an adventure. JMHO
Them switch backs had me clinching up🤦
It's no use to you now but when the studs on the rear axel wheel hubs are long enough maybe get some wheelspacers? Then you could use chains on the back as well.
I was really concerned for you on that icy road, especially those icy downhill hairpin turns that made my stomach do flip flops! It is So damn easy to start sliding and there is nothing you can do when it brakes loose! I fishtailed one time for about 100 yards on the ice knowing that each time I was going in the ditch but "HE" must have saved me, thank you again. Timmy, thank you for the great videos and stay safer!
Nice job Bud's...been down the Duffy in winter all about the journey god spead brother
And to think a year later youd be trying the atigun pass in the dead of winter with a smile on your face. Keep on keepin mister 🤟
Glad you got past al that safe! Thanks for the great content!!!
Dude I've watched the past year or so, had to resubscribe?!😢😅 I love this channel and the content!😮 Don't go away again 😮
You can get a 1 inch wheel spacer to move those rears out to clear those chains.
Great driving you got a big pair to drive in that stuff. Good Luck. Thanks for sharing.
Your the man! towing on the Duffy in the summer can be a bit of a white knuckler! doing it in the winter with those road conditions is just scary!! Well Done!
i have done this drive so many times, its so close to my home!! TBH tho I've never seen it so bad! glad you made it safe and love seeing the camper haul!!
When a driving instructor in a 4WD and chains says the roads are bad then you know it's bad.
advice- get a narrow set of bfg all terains for the snow. thank me later. and by narrow i mean the most narrow tread you can find/ fit.
😳 I’ve got white knuckles just watching You drive in that mess Timmy… no way would I attempt that… NOT this girl. Be safe out there 🥶😳❄️👍😎
I think I need a really really strong drink after watching this! Safe travels!
me too;)
Just found your channel, brings back some memories. In 1989 I was in the military and got stationed in Alaska from Texas, packed up a pick up with extra gas, 4 extra tires and a quad and head up in January ready for the adventure. Was a great time tell the truck got flipped upside down in the Yukon and couldn’t even dig out the quad took about 3 hours tell someone came by, got it flipped back over and proceeded on tell the an axle snapped about 100 miles from my destination, towed it in and drive back out almost 4 years to the day later, I guess I didn’t learn my lesson. Needless to say the trip down to the lower 48 was more enjoyable as I had no problems thank goodness. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos, great job and thanks for the great content.
Ouch! oh and welcome to the channel!
When you only have one set of chains and four wheel drive. Chains go on the front tires. Better traction and steering control.
Tim, you're making the auto engineers at Ford motor company in Dearborn, Michigan proud
haha nice!
I so wish you were able to have some on the rear also. This is scary.
Wisdom plus patience equals reward !!
Working in mexico for the week, and decided id much rather watch Timmy with a cold beer than some overpaid football players in the superbowl, great upload dude loved it!! Your hitting your stride!!
Your Young n brave Timmy. That pass coming down on 13 grid had me tightening my Stomach. Crazy but nice video man. Be careful man!! Sometimes risks will take you out.
Dude I absolutely love your videos. I’m in the UK and we don’t get your weather, although I lived in Canada for a short while and experienced -40. Keep up the good work 👍 can’t wait for more content.
Considering the slick conditions having extra grip on the steer wheels might not be bad. Also there is a front brake bias so the extra stopping power can't hurt either. Stay safe!
Much respect to you I do that trip every summer on my bike . Lots of fun but in winter super step lots of snow and ice no thanks
Wow!
Scary I've done some icy roads b4 but that was totally scary, you are a skillful driver! Stay safe always 🙏for the road 👍💯
For the record that did not look mellow on camera, I was only watching a video of it and even my heart was pounding
Well done Tim, good driving and concentration. I love watching your adventures.
