What I don't understand is why you didn't take your supplies into one of those cabins if its the strongest storm that Van and you have been through. You must not be too worried about your safety if you're not going inside a cabin.
I lived in my old VW camper bus in a Colorado winter or 2, and I learned that you must always have back-ups, and a final way to survive that requires only the absolutely simplest equipment. In my micro-bus I had a commercial-grade come-along with a heavy 100 foot rope to pull myself out of wherever, 3 different ham radios with backup batteries for communications, (before cellphones, though I now have both,) back-country XC skis, boots and poles, plus crackers, jerky, and candy bars to eat, and a waterproof tarp and sleeping-bag that were good to -40 degrees F. I could get water from snow. Everything else was for convenience. The most important thing is understanding what is essential for survival, and making sure that you have fail-proof things that can provide for your survival. In general, I would use whatever was simplest for everything, a manual thermostat for my heater, etc. Even though I'm a very good electronics repair tech, electronics is only for convenience and communication, not survival.
I live in Florida USA. It is 80 degrees. After watching your video i had to turn off my air conditioner so i could warm up. There is something about watching you safe and warm in your Van, meanwhile enduring the chaos of the elements on the outside. My wife and i have travelled extensively all over Europe. Respect for remaining so calm under these difficult circumstances. I know, you can't do anything else. I love snow and blizzards! Born and raised in New England we had lots of snowstorms and blizzard. We went to sleep hoping we’d hear the sirens blasting that school was called off. lol children w snow! I really enjoyed your view of the mountains and watching the blizzard. It relaxed me.
Boston blizzard of 77 and 78. Listen to AM radio for the school cancelation. Not caring that all snow days had to be made up in June.😮 Never by a house without a fireplace. You never know when you will need it.
I was up in the northern part of Uk Bridlington, up in the open out of my vehicle having a cigarette. I notice it was lightly beginning to snow, when a passer by saw that I wasn’t local told me to get off these terrains, as a blizzard was due. On the way back South within 45 minutes the weather conditions shocked me. I noticed a vehicle tailgating and influencing my driving to go faster as he wasn’t interested in keeping a braking distance. Eventually I slowed to let him pass and became stuck, until 2 hours later the snow ploughs got me out. It was only when I travelled another 10/15 minutes down the road, everything was clear, dawning on me that the vehicle behind me was local and knew how to escape the blizzard, hence why he was travelling so fast. Seems like people who know the environment know how to get from A to B and deal with differing weather conditions. I am extremely south on the UK coastline so rarely experience blizzards and extreme snow is a God send if during Christmas month.
Great adventure! I think in that powerful wind I would turn the camper around, to reduce the amount of cold air entering the engine compartment. Also a curtain behind the seats would help with heat loss from the glass/ windshield area.
Now you know why underground shelters reign supreme. Stocked and prepared properly, temps stay constant, water sources drip continuously, insects and fungus to feed you, and your traps feed then protect you.

Good afternoon Jarl and Arctic fans) The beginning is wonderful, a ski trip... And then for dessert there is a storm, everything is as we love) There is something in this deadly ice captivity that enchants solitude... I look and relax, as if next to you)
I would get an additional diesel heater under the passenger seat. Really needed in those weathers. I've been in same in Finnish Lapland, but with a bigger RV.
I just took my dog out to do his business and I am so cold now and it's only 37 degrees. I can't even fathom what you are dealing with! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Jotunheim...home of the trolls, watch out for the ice trolls there my friend, well if you have a UV gun, you might be able to turn them to stone lol, awesome video my friend
Here in Wyoming we have the low temps and the winds but it doesn't seem as remote. You might ask an outfitter where to get some super strong canvas sewn up with the industrial type of magnets for the top window. Getting up might be impossible in heavy weather. Also wind could put a piece of a tree to your windshield. What to do, im not certain.
Sun roof, I would find a waterproof draft excluder like they do to insulate windows! In the winter. For the exhaust and Engine make foil blankets that you already use for the windows!
This conjures the Hateful 8 where the characters are cooped up in the cabin. You look cozy inside the van. Sure it’s better than Minnie’s Haberdashery 😊
Man i love your videos. If the noise is a little too much for you, you should have sound deadening install on all the metal. It will be quieter and hold the heat way way better

beautiful bright 🤍❄️🤍
Thank you 🤗
Good afternoon Jarl and Arctic fans) The beginning is wonderful, a ski trip... And then for dessert there is a storm, everything is as we love) There is something in this deadly ice captivity that enchants solitude... I look and relax, as if next to you)
Awesome!
Hilarious: Yeah, I get it. You're mad, Weather God...oh, now it's snowing in here. How nice 😂
😁
I would get an additional diesel heater under the passenger seat. Really needed in those weathers. I've been in same in Finnish Lapland, but with a bigger RV.
I just took my dog out to do his business and I am so cold now and it's only 37 degrees. I can't even fathom what you are dealing with! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Now that is a beautiful day.I love it, I wish I was there.
Indeed!
Jotunheim...home of the trolls, watch out for the ice trolls there my friend, well if you have a UV gun, you might be able to turn them to stone lol, awesome video my friend
Thanks Chris!
Stay in The North, winter is coming, the Wall and the Night’s Watch need you 😊
Haha, I will! Looking for white walkers
OMG How beautiful is that scenery it could be another planet its like a scene ouf of Interstellar 😊
Indeed!
Thanks, I was just in Wyoming, miss the plains and mountains, have you gotten any snow yet?
Just came across this absolutely love it fair play to you for doing this could watch this all day
Awesome, thank you!
Sun roof, I would find a waterproof draft excluder like they do to insulate windows! In the winter.
For the exhaust and Engine make foil blankets that you already use for the windows!
Cool idea!
Thanks!
Thank you so much Mark!
This conjures the Hateful 8 where the characters are cooped up in the cabin. You look cozy inside the van. Sure it’s better than Minnie’s Haberdashery 😊
haha, indeed!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Man i love your videos. If the noise is a little too much for you, you should have sound deadening install on all the metal. It will be quieter and hold the heat way way better
Thanks
