As an MN ice fisherman, one of the most important things to do to our portable ice houses on the lake is “banking the house.” We shovel snow along the outside, covering the bottoms of our tent with snow. Keeps heat in and doesn’t allow wind to slide under neither, game changer my man!

@@markemerson8399 A dog can start developing frostbite in as little as 30 minutes . So hell yes he's little feet should be pampered with snow shoes same as he's wearing a vest to protect his body.
Need to get some mitts or some shoes for the lil guy to keep his paws safe. Great video!
You should prep your meals at home. Like precut your vegetables, slice and season your meats for example and place them in zip lock bags. You can then use the dirty zip lock bags for your trash when you are done eating. It would save you time, clean up and trash. You also would have less things to clean and pack lighter on your outing and when you get home. You would also get to enjoy your outing more and little less to do when you get home.

I'm afraid you could underestimate the possibility of a dangerous encounter between your sweet dog and a coyote.
Yeah, especially a little pup. 5 years ago our American Bullweiler and Pitbull came back to the house completely covered in blood and bites, my husband walked up behind our house into the woods and followed the blood trail and found 6 dead coyotes. I'm surprised they didn't get overrun since it was 2 VS 6, but they killed them all
Great and interesting video. I do love your dog. To retain the heat in your tent you should have sealed the tent floor perimeter with snow, thus stopping the wind from entering your tent. Keep up the good work. God bless.

All camping is work; I was more impressed by the equipment needed to do it. A lot of expensive gear. I am envious of it.

I admire that you find enjoyment in this sort of excursion. I lived in North Dakota for 36 of my 37 years and finally had enough of the winters there.
Same for me and Boston, but it took less time. (11 years).

Unfortunately, due to health reasons, I'm not able to do this. Through your videos, I'm able to experience such beauty and enjoyment. I can't thank you enough. I love winter camping videos. I love seeing someone go through all the hard work of prepping, setting up, figuring how to stay warm etc. I live vicariously through you. I would love to winter camp, as I love the snow, winter and fall are my favorite seasons!! Maybe one day I will get the courage to do it myself. Wow! Looking at your footage reminds me of the hellish winter blizzard we just had in December in Buffalo NY! Over a dozen people froze to death! I was blessed someone very special, who I didn't know, came and rescued me. All the utilities were off in my apartment complex! Wow! I'll never forget it

Aweee Boomer is too cute! Also, my dad taught me this, he packs snow around the bottom of his tent or tarps, and it helps it keep from flying around and keeps some of the heat in!

Hi Lonewolf: I am not a camper AT ALL! It is obvious to me Boomer adores you, when you were first getting things started and hopped up to get things opened up he hopped up on the tire - he just wanted to be with you - you are both fortunate to have each other! As a non camper I was surprised that you did not push snow up agains the bottom of the tent to stop the wind getting in - but like I said, I am not a camper. I am thinking if you did, then the sleeping area would be unbareably hot. I think I am too comfort oriented! It was great to watch this adventure of yours unfold! THANKS LONEWOLF you two are terrific!

That was some snowstorm! I was shivering right along with you. And the inside temp here was 68 ˚F. Boomer was definitely enjoying the snow. He's never seen a stick he didn't like. At least the storm passed which made packing up a lot easier than what you went through setting up. As always, the drone shots were incredible. Stay warm and safe travels!
Gonna have to say that you putting on Boomer’s coat for him to go out was absolutely adorable! And loved what he slept in…you made sure he was well taken care of! The scenery here is gorgeous….especially right at the water! Love the views in the woods but also enjoying the open views. Thanks a lot for sharing and congrats on new family member!

Good video and lots of prep. My suggestion would be whilst setting up the tent that you provide a waterproof matt for the dog to get off the snow to protect his paws from the cold. Try insulating the heater ducting which might help with fuel consumption..

If you do more snow camping, bring a collapsible shovel with you to pile up snow around the base of your tent. You lost all of your insulation on that lower level from that gap, and that wind was ruthless.

If you were that cold, you'd think that you would keep the door of the tent closed and you'd have a tarp to use as your floor. That would help to keep the little heat you get from that little cooking stove inside the tent. It's pretty hard to heat the outdoors.
Well I'm filming everything... capturing all these sights and scenes. It would be pretty boring and dumb to hide inside and not capture everything
I have to say that I don't know what I enjoy more, camping or Boomer, he's so cute and funny. It looked so cold there when you were cooking, glad you were warm and cozy at night. Beautiful pictures, thanks

Ive a winnerwell nomad m size with the silicon jack for the wall in the annex corner. Works incredible and heats immediately. Also the insulation for these tents works great as well. Highly recommend installing one of your hot tent stoves. The heat travels upwards nicely guided into the sleeping area.

Boomer is a cutie pie. He reminds me of my little man Dakota. I found him 3 yrs ago in a ditch in February and it was so cold that evening. We rushed him to the vet because he had a broken leg and busted pelvis. He is a terrier mix. He hates the snow. Anyway, I'm glad I found your channel.
