A one week adventure across northern British Columbia with our friends from @EPIC-4WD , to Hyder Alaska and the Salmon Glacier. We travelled in my 2022 Jeep Gladiator with a 426 Hemi swap, a Jeep Wrangler and a Dodge Ram, all heavily modified for off-road and overland adventures. This is our story.

How much gas do you take per vehicle with you on a trip like this ?
Man, you deserve a million followers, your vids are dope! Congratulations 🍾
I like the view of the scenery of Alaska
The quality of these video are unmatched to any other channel... Literally looks like National Geographic quality shots
I don’t know how he does it but he regularly tops what were already excellent videos. The soundtrack in this video was really good too. It was certainly a side to Alaska you don’t normally see.
Couple Australia RUclipsrs are the Same quality but is good to watch people form another country with the same Quality content
@@_jaydenrp_6515
Which Aussie videos are the same quality? I watch a lot of off-roading videos and if I’m not aware of them I’ll check them out? Ronny Dahl’s were great quality videos when he did trips filmed for RUclips but they’re rarer than Tasmanian Tiger sightings these days because his Ch7 contract gets all of his worthwhile content. TSTN & TrailRecon set a pretty high standard though. Great unique destinations, good mix of overlanding & decent 4wding, great shots, excellent use of the drone and compelling story telling. I’m loving it that 4wd 24/7 are currently releasing videos from the US and using Shauno’s 4wd which was shipped over from Australia, but they’re just all about hardcore 4wding & it does get a bit too much from time to time because Shauno & Graham are super overloaded with energy when filming on the tracks. They hit all the sane destinations every 2yrs just about. Cape York & the Simpson Desert for them are like the Ashes and done every 2 years.
Exactly
No alucines en primer lugar el equipo que utiliza national vale todas esas camionetas juntas y ni así llegan al precio 😂
Your videos are beyond EPIC!!!! People help this man’s channel grow!!! This is quality stuff!!!
Thank you
Ya I said the same thing but I feel people have issues touching the thumbs up button 🤣🤣 can you say lazy 😂😂
Some of his best work
@@michaelcook184 cheers
I don't even know how to start this comment. This is award-worthy. You are a cinematographer, an epic storyteller first, and an achieved off-roader. I watch a lot of off-road content, but I literally crave yours. I never talk out loud during a film, you had me fuuuuuuk that's amazing. Wow, kudos, amazing edit, thank you for taking me there.
Hey thank you so much.
Thanks for taking me back 40 years! I did some of that exploration work there in 1983. It rained every day for 4 months straight. The Granduc Mine was operating at the time on the other side of the tunnel. We built a lot of those trails. Good to see they are still somewhat navigable. I just retired after 40 years as an exploration geologist, having worked and played in some of the most amazing and remote parts of Canada. To think the old rental 4x4 pickups could do what they did! Cheers.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
as someone who lives in Italy, I am quite familiar with mountains and valleys. What I'm not familiar with and is absolutely astonishing to see every time I watch one of your videos is the scale of things there in the americas. It's wild how much larger everything is. I've seen glaciers in the past, but that thing scared the crap out of me, never seen anything like it. I genuinely thank you for the content you bring, it helps not only relaxing and spending some good time, but also getting a wider point of view on the world in general (like I said, never seen anything like the things you show in your videos and I wouldn't have seen them if it weren't for your channel)
If you ever get the chance, I highly encourage a road trip across Canada.
@jack_2612 I can appreciate; my cousin Mark in Italy brought his friend Paolo last October…… he could not grasp flying over one lake (Lake Superior) for over an hour😊
He loved the trip; got him out on atvs, hiking, catching his first trout, etc.
he still talks about the vastness of the wilderness here; it was so nice to see someione enjoy it all
This is the best channel on youtube by far. I could watch this 24/7.
Thank you 🙏
i totally agree with this
First time watching them. I know 4wd 24/7 is a good channel. They are based in Australia. Been watching them for years.
Your filming of surroundings and vehicles driving is above all others, paired with the relaxing music makes these videos a must watch. Thanks for sharing the most beautiful spots in our nation for some of us that will never get to personally experience it in person.
Glad you enjoyed it
I agree because I don't get to travel, heck I haven't seen my siblings in 25 almost 30 years ago and I just lost a baby brother this year 😢. My dad moved me away from my entire family and moved to Las Vegas Nv. I was 8 so I didn't have a choice in the matter 😢. I was supposed to see my siblings this year and didn't even get to do that before he passed away sadly. I tried so hard too 😪. I just recently had to sell my truck to pay my rent. The only vehicle I have ever been able to buy myself. Without help from anyone, so now I really can't go see my sister and meet her teenage kid's.
@@elizabethwilliams9597 it's like this for alot of us ! I'm a disabled vet and it's tough surviving this economy.i can't travel backup north to visit my family much anymore if at all.hope things get better for all of us 🙏
awesome video, i lost my mom last month she was living with me, 92 yrs old, time waits for no one, time to explore; enjoy life, your vids are an inspiration , keep up the good work and i pray for your success in bringing enjoyment and letting me experience through your eyes...
I could watch this 24/7.
This is TSTN at his very best. Great adventure, beautifully shot, wonderfully stitched together.
The music you put in your videos makes it feel like your watching this in a Cinema
I'm in 😆
The places Shawn goes in that JEEP is totally unbelievable!! Why JEEP is not his biggest Sponsor is beyond me. The places he goes and the video he shots is truly Epic. Awesome content SIR
This has been one of your BEST videos we have seen yet ! The beauty & majesty of God's work is beyond words. Thank you for taking us along 🙏 😊
Thank you Vickie!
OMG the waterfall against the glacier was one of the best views you have ever recorded. Awesome as usual Shaun! Thanks😊
Epic music always for epic videography and adventure! Freaking LOVE IT!
24:44 The mountains and waterfalls are majestic.
It's nice to see that Ram out on the trail representing the full size rigs!
Hey bud Native Americans stack rocks for a reason, one is to convey a message to other passers by and also to memorialize a loved one who loved it out there and wanted to have their ashes spread. So remember that it is 1st People's land before the white man's land......
The drone work in this episode is fantastic! Excellent work.
So glad I found this channel. Unbelievable content. The US is a beautiful country, and these guys took me right into the heart of it. Thank you.
Oustandingly Amazing! Always setting the highest bar for other creators, keep it up Shaun, this is why I'm a supporter.
I rode a motorcycle up to the Salmon Glacier in 2008. It was snowed in at the top, so couldn't get to the mining tunnel. My riding buddy told me it went through the mountain and opened up onto an incredible valley on the other side. I'm guessing you were in the same tunnel! Your drone shots and narrating are awesome! Along with the rest! Thanks!
The rocks were stacked. It means good hunting ground.
The rock statue is called an inukshuk. It's a native tradition that was used to say "this land can support life" or "people can live here," indicating a place of abundance
Exactly. Not all rock stacking is respectful, but that one was and it saddened me to see it destroyed. The only blemish in an otherwise fantastic video. It may have been a mistake, but their heart is in the right place with the message of leaving the wilderness untamed.
@AK-Brian I can see their gripe being on that sketchy shelf trail. Was beautiful but maybe just for someone's IG post & not an OG 1st natn hopefully?
Incredible footage, and a beautiful trail. Thanks for sharing, as always!
You always pick the best camping places! The waterfalls, glaciers, everything is so beautiful. Thank you for taking us places we could never see on our own.
The scenery is absolutely breathtaking!
Im living in singapore. A very small country like island where theres no mountains nor beutiful river to go to or see. And watching your videos makes me feel happy to see the other side of the world wilderness. Youre living my dream😊
Stopping about 15 mins in just to say…prob one of the best Real adventure and production of said adventure I’ve seen so far. Hard work Works and it Shows👊👍
Thank you
There are about 8 Billion people on the planet. . . and 99.9 % will never get to see the AMAZING places you go. . . Thank you for sharing these videos, and experiences. You provide so much to those of us who would if we could. Truly Blessed to get to see the Amazing areas you go to visit! Thank you for sharing!
Wow, thank you
This was an amazing video. The crew was perfect. Great humour and laughing is good for the soul, as these beautiful videos are too. 😊
These videos are incredible. We have a group of friends who are just getting into off-roading and these videos are inspiring. Currently we have a three Jeeps and two Toyota FJs.
45:29 I believe that is the Lake that Destination Adventure claimed, and named after spending a night there.
The ONLY stacked rocks, are hiking trail markers, Graffiti stacked rocks, are a blemish, and should never be erected as they can lead to confusion on a trail. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.
Yeah when we were camped at the glacier, I was watching Dustin’s video in my tent and I was like “hey… this is where we are” haha.
@@TheStoryTillNow I so want to see a Collab video between DA & TSTN, I think the cinematography would be, beyond EPIC.. He's currently in Haida Gwaii for a month
Epic. Thank you for continuing to inspire my adventures, Shawn.
Dude Shaun this is out of this world epic! I definitely appreciate you doing these adventures to bring to those of us unable to do this adventure to our homes. Absolutely amazing.
Thanks for watching!
I’ve been with you since the fall of 2021. You take me to places that I know I will never see with my own eyes, but my appreciation for the earth has been augmented by your videos. Thank you for doing such a great job at bringing us along.
WOW Shawn!! I know I say it a lot but this episode was EPIC. I don't know how you do it but I hope you never stop exploring! Thank you for doing what you do. God Bless!
[Notes]:
- AMAZING video, one of the best for TSTN, simply spectacular! Thank you for taking us on your trek.
- Friends on journeys to extreme remote locations that are only willing to go 9/10 of the way would concern me.
- Don't move rocks in formations that nature wouldn't have otherwise done on its own.
- It's ok to take glaciers apart. Weird.
- Otherwise, awesome video as always!
“Leave only footprints,” then proceeds to break off a piece of a million year old glacier. Love the videos! That was just too funny to not highlight
Visiting Alaska is a life long dream for me. One day I'll make it happen. You guys make really awesome content, it's really just a pure pleasure to watch. Keep up the good work, and chasing dreams.
Long time super fan and subscriber ! I think this may be the most epic video yet !!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Continue to inspire good Sir!!!
HECK YEAH!!! This is the reason why I watch this kind of stuff on RUclips! Best Overlanding/4x4 adventuring video I've seen all year! You really nailed this video! Looks like it was an amazing adventure 🤩
Safety second
Glad you enjoyed it!
You're living my dream, actually it's more beautiful than my dream.
I get you. It happens, reality always can be better than fiction.
WOW, WOW, and more WOW!
You boys are living my dream.
Are you flying the drone while driving your rig?? I cant even imagine that while on those shelf roads! You are my favorite channel man thank you for the content ❤
Auto follow
The places a pair of tracks can be found always amazes me.
Love these types of videos
Absolutely incredible. The epic views, the music, your narration. The entire video experience comes together to make it an absolute joy to watch. I know you realize what a lucky man you are. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
What an epic trip. Amazing!
17:01 - epic my friend...
Enjoyed every moment of your video 🔥🔥🔥
Glad to see the music experiments made theirselves into the main video Shaun! Big fan of this! Worked great.
i've dreamed of coming to these exact places, man. there are no words to express how amazing it is to see it all documented in incredible video
Thanks! This one was a challenge to make.
Awesome content ❤
What drone do you use? Because some of that footage you take while snowing and raining is absolutely insane
I'm pretty confident he's noted in the past that it's the mavic 3 pro, but I'm only 98.992 % confident with that. I could be wrong.
Thank you!
It’s probably in the description.
CHILLS!…I’m getting chills as I see the trucks on those mountain cliffs. Gorgeous shots man!! Thank you.
I subscribed! Sorry I haven't done it earlier! I love your videos. Question. Who controls the drone when the ride is going?
"I'm not a hiker, but this is cool" Probably the most relatable thing you've every spoken:)
Awesome video!!!
You always show me places that i want to go now that i am retired.
Please don't knock over the rock stacks though. As a through hiker i look for those because they are trail makers. The the CDT and PCT are trails from Mexico to Canada. There are other trails that continue on from there through Alaska. I am sure there would be local trails too and these are the markers to keep hikers on trail in adverse weather.
Please keep up the awesome videos.
Peace
catalyst.cm/stories-new/2022/4/12/why-creating-rock-cairns-is-dangerous-and-wildly-illegal
And driving through the way you do in your previous videos show is obviously not damaging the Macroinvertebrates and following LNT correct???
Some people will abuse anything such as rock stacking but most serve a purpose. Cannot speak for the ones in Canada.
the ones on the long trails are builf by the conservation and trail crews to help mark the hiking trails.
Peace
no way!
Awwone video! On hecknif a ride and thanks for taking us all on this one, and all the others you go on. Its a lot of work to get all this footage, let alone the time to put it all together! Keep it up and thr 300k mark will happen in no time.
maybe next time you should think before you push over rocks and call it rock stacking. very disrespectful of you Shawn
The word “inukshuk” means “in the likeness of a human.” For generations, Inuit have been creating these impressive stone markers on the vast Arctic landscape.
Knocking them over is encouraged, it is just a trendy thing hikers do for instagram photos. There’s nothing significant about this one at all. The disrespectful thing is people making their stupid rock stacks and leaving them there.
@@TheStoryTillNow if you were down in BC I would agree with you but not in Alaska. there is a very large Inuit community there and this is part of the culture.
@@briggs1337 the Salmon glacier is in B.C. Not Alaska.
It makes me happy to hear Shawn talk about his subscribers knowing that now he has more than he originally asked for. You deserve it man! These videos are great and perfect for anyone to enjoy! Would you ever venture to Ontario or Quebec for a video?
Thank you! It's a bit far to go to Ontario or Quebec but if I ever have the chance, maybe.
"Rock stacking is only slightly better than grafitti". Canadian dude, playing environmental police in a foreign country. Excuse me? Quite laughable. I find grafitti about 1,000,000,000 times worse than stacking rocks. Wanderers and nomads have been stacking rocks to make cairns to mark trails for thousands of years before wealthy overlanders invaded the pristine wilderness with huge tread mud tires, heavy vehicles, oil drip, and CO2 emissions. Your drive down that shelf road is a thousand times more invasive than someone stacking a few rocks. You know what's really invasive? Heavy vehicles driving through sensitive creeks and rivers. Tire tracks in sensitive arctic areas will remain for decades, and stand out way more than a few stacked rocks. So much for "Leave No Trace". Total hypocrisy. I've been a fan of this channel for a long time, but those kinds of statements and that behavior diminishes the enjoyment of your otherwise excellent footage and storytelling. Really a low mark for me.
I felt the same way, that comment almost made me unsubscribe. Stupid hypocrisy
A few notes. Half way between Hyder and Kitwanga is a turn off called Cranberry Connector. It's a nice trek and a side trip to the Nisga'a valley. Lots to see there too... side trip into Kitsault, which is a fully maintained ghost town (permission needed to pass gate) and from there if you have a boat you can make it to Anyox which is the most amazing old mining ghost town from the turn of the century. This trip will loop you back to Terrace and will pass the Nisga's memorial lava beds which is the most recent volcanic eruption in Canada. A must see...
The rock piles are called Inukshuk's which were used by First Nations as markers.
The formation you kicked over could have been a grave marker, so if you are having a lot of bad luck lately I would recommend going back and replacing it.
Okay, the last part is most likely bullshit. lol
This gyus are brave and also big adventurers. I love every step. Every chapter.
If a dodge pickup can do it, it's not a hard trail.
Facts!!!
CAP
This by far is the best channel on here. The content is totally on another level. I'm here in England but every time you post I jump in time and feel like I'm right there with you guys.
Wow, thank you!
Knocking over somebody's cairn is only slightly less douchy than... no, I'm wrong. It is about as douchy as you can get. You have no idea why they did that, leave it alone.
Doesn’t matter why they did it, but I can 99% guarantee it was for an instagram photo. You aren’t supposed to do it. It is encouraged to knock them down. The only good reason to do it is to mark your trail when hiking, and they should be knocked down on your way out. It’s actually a safety hazard if not marking a hiking route because someone could follow it by mistake and get lost.
Pretty sure there is also a possibly native story behind them ?. But make sure and try and touch spawning salmon, too. And the one dude admits to grabbing one. Wow. C.O would love that.
TWO WORDS!!!! "UN REAL" STUNNING BREATH TAKING !!! ICE Age !!!! Solid ICe !!!! Thanks for the trip!!!
I could live in places like this. Away from societal bullshit.
You may be one of the luckiest guys I know what a beautiful beautiful campsite on that lake just wonderful and I’m jealous
Dude not sure a guest in another country should be knocking over what someone else took the time and effort to build. What do you have against these? Or do you just dislike aboriginals and their art? This definitely seemed low class and ignorant.
The glacier is in British Columbia, where I live. We just passed through Alaska to get there. Knocking them down is encouraged for many reasons including hiker safety. 99% of rock stacks were erected by people just trying to take a trendy instagram photo. This was definitely one of those.
@TheStoryTillNow how do you know this was erected by people other then aboriginals? Were you there to visually see this? Encouraged by who? Other bigots that also dislike aboriginals like yourself? If you felt this strongly you could have done this without filming but I commend you for showcasing your racism on your channel.
@@trentcasey1354Knocking over stacks of rocks is hardly racism.
@joemzd ask an aboriginal person if this is? I sure did
@@trentcasey1354 😂😂😂😂😂😂
These views are just INSANE! Especially the lake! Can't wait to get some new merch soon
Just pure quality documentary level videos filmed by 1 man in his jeep and a drone driving both at the same time on shelf roads. Jesus.
Also really like the fact that in your group there isn’t any pressure to do a section if they don’t feel like it’s safe. Good vibes.
Thanks!
Safety second!
this is just breathtaking, the quality of everything and just the journey itself is astonishing. honestly inspires me to go out and do this myself.
Shaun, there are many good RUclips content creators to enjoy, but you are in a class very few will achieve. You are one of the very few that are doing what you were born to do......and it shows in the talent you display with your presentations! Any thing else you do would be a waste of your gifts.
Thank you so much.
Big fan of the channel! This episode has had me on the edge of my seat! The roads you’ve conquered are amazing! Very impressive and the filming is just phenomenal.
Speechless! Enjoyed every second...Alaska Home Sweet Home..
Understatement of the century, "I like roads". Lol. Just incredible. Words really don't do it justice seeing the glacier as you went around the bend in the road. The scale was just staggering. Thanks so much for sharing your journey. Stay dauntless my man!
Glad you enjoyed it
Definitely y our best quality video so far! Absolutely loved this one and it’s become my favorite.
very much better than some cinemas....truly a masterpiece
This is our backyard, we love it - so glad you got to enjoy it too ❤!
I love it!
Your uploads that you present to us Joe Public are epic, including this one.
Just a thought, if that inukshuk was there already, probably for a long time, it's preferred to leave it be.
I sincerely didn't get why rock stacking is a bad thing... yes I watched the whole video :) nice one Shaun, awesome scenery!
Just something for Karens to bitch about
This is the best I have seen yet. Man what views and that glacier is something else. What I give to be there with you guys but I'm too far away in North Western North Carolina and my health won't let me do what I used to
but just seeing this brings joy to my heart. What beauty this world holds only if we see it in a way that is special and so grand. I may not hit the like button all the time but I get excited and simply get into these and forget but that don't matter because I love these videos, I love your adventures and I love you guys for making this to be as close as I can be and still feel the emotions that
what beauty there is to see that is jaw dropping.
What I love also is the music with these videos. These are the best and it is meaningful to be watching something that is peaceful.
That Ram hung in there. I got a 2015 Ram Express Cab and that rig is wide maybe a bit wider that that one maybe. But what joy it is to see what you guys do making me think back when I used to explore like that. There is nothing any better. You all are the best and Shaun your way of doing these videos are top notch. Again I love these places you all go to and I love this channel.
Thank you so much for the detailed comment, it means a lot.
Watching your vids… motivating me to continue to build my gladiator… early retirement is approaching.. can’t wait to experience what you do!
