I love everything about this man. His voice and his equally impressive guitar style
Grew up listing to him because of my father. Thank god. He’s incredible.
🍺😚👍im that guy live for ever everyone be how 😳did he manage too ,he should be dead 💥ill say cheap beer wats in the box 💯goon 💥😂😅bahahaaaaa
Absolutely everything about him between him and the 3 kings Albert, BB & Freddie I have my top shelf fill of the blues ❤❤❤
He told me he thinks you're very cool as well
And the way he looked at Tina Turner 30 years ago
One of his best and that is saying lots. This song never gets old. NEVER.
Love his voice.... a blend of Otis Redding and Sam Cooke. Smoothhhhhhh!
He’s the best . Had the chance to Watch him twice live and to talk to him face to face . That was one moment I will never forget ❤
That's really cool. I've seen him couple times also. Great guitar player. But I never got to talk with him. 👍👍👍
@Jeff
You have a chance, he's still on tour 😉
❤
I got to meet him once. Real nice guy. Cool.
Love this man and his band. Saw him in Ashland, Oregon in 1980 at a cozy bar. What a fabulous night.
One of the best if not the best of all time. I'm a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan and will be forever. But Robert Cray is a legendary 🎸🎤🎧🎹🎷🙏
They helped revive blues music, RIP SRV
Robert deserves an Gold Metal for his Fabulous Music.
Been a fan of his music since the 80's. Wonderful blues.
Old thread but Robert Cray is definitely a living legend. Such a killer skilled guitarist with such a unique style, sound and tone. You know you’ve arrived when people can recognize your music by simply hearing it without seeing the player or being told who they are. 👏👏👏
without any words one of the BEST SINGERS OF THE WORLD with HIS BAND. ALL is perfect for me: the singer, the composition, the band, the moment, the songwriter, the song text, the intonation, the situation, the feeling, ALL ALL .. YEAH. I am an older woman with 58 years but the song gives me many POWER; thank you Robert Cray.... and I love it, many members of my family have the same surname of the singer, wow I like it. Playing this song is a party, a big moment, powerful, being stronger and stronger...

Just don t be afraid od the dark
You're forgetting one thing😅
wonderful
Still have this on vinyl....geezz, i'm getting old I guess, LOL! Great album that never gets old!
my technics record player is from 1982😥
One of the greatest blues master with iconic past legends like my favorite Stevie Ray Vaughn. Truly a great artist🎸🎸🎸🎷🎷🎺🎺
I have been listening to Robert Cray since 1973.....when he began his career in Eugene, Oregon and I NEVER get tired of him. He was wonderful then and has only polished his style with time. Sing it young Bob!
Rebecca Randleman Yup, for me since then too. He and the boys worked for a while with the great Albert Collins, touring mainly up and down the West Coast. A brash young Curtis Salgado also comes to mind as a sometime member of the group. These boys have paid their dues and are always a treat to see/hear! RIP Albert, too soon :(
I love this man and wouldn't be afraid of the dark if he was there to hold me! ♥ Robert cray is even better in concert than on CD,he is one artist who can duplicate his sound in person, just awesome on that guitar! ♥
Just saw him live tonight for the first time. Guy is an absolute legend on the guitar and his voice is still silky smooth.
I am so envious of you, Kai. I have loved Robert Cray band for about 20 years. Still not seen them in concert in Australia. :( Such amazing talent.....
He's one of the legends
Saw him a few times his group is tight
so lucky aroha tino
@@juliedove8141 Hi Julie , I saw Young Bob about 30 years ago at the Entertainment Center in Sydney . Great gig . He was here last year and I missed it . Would have been nice to see that great band again .
Top of the list for me as one of my favorite blues singers
The best thing about the blues is that you find the best people on earth sharing this music with you.Robert Cray keep up the great work.
Been listening to him since I was a child I saw him and Eric Clapton live in 2006 will never forget it! Definitely a blues Legend
Robert Cray has been playing for 40 years. He's a master of the blues. This is probably his best song. Next to my idol Stevie Ray Vaughn his my second best.🙏🏼🎤🎸💯🤟
I was in Wisconsin when he, Clapton, and Stevie were touring. One of the choppers crashed, and Stevie Ray was among those who were killed.
Very smooth style - Robert Cray has such a beautiful stage presence and his soulful voice just carries you away.
Saw him a few times, your right..
john pelkey Must have been an awesome experience!
john pelkey I saw him up close in Utica, NY. He is beautiful
Jude Anne Gossin I bet he is - I am so jealous!
He does carry you away, Lorraine.
He is a perfect fusion of what people call white rock and grassroots blues
He gives me hope that tribes can meet so beautifully and create a human blend
Utterly delightful
It was GREAT music back then!
Rock was never white. Wtf are you talking about 😂
@@allybrosia3725 Ok. The Motown was white. And yes, IT REALLY WAS!!! Look at Rare Earth, but that's before your time, youngster!!
Robert cray, is for me a great guitarist and singer one of a kind, very unique have loved his music for years 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Robert Cray is a blues specialist, untouchable, cool vocals also. One of the greatest blues performers of our time🎸🎤
Oh, Robert don`t sees himself as a bluesman. So do I . His music is also full of soul and there is blues in his music, but it`s not blues and he is no bluesman.
Eu adoro, é muito elegante!
Had tickets for Young Bob tonight in Nashville 👍💕not gonna make it as I lay in the ER with a back injury! Love you , Rozanne ( lil ole gal)
ROBERT CRAY's stylings seem to complement Jazz and R&B although some songs are "Bluesy."
Bet, he'd prefer to be acknowledged as 'AMAZING,' which is True!
Yes I agree
What a Voice! And he's can play the Stratocaster pretty good too.....
This is the Aston Martin of blues singing / playing.
Listening to Robert Cray in 2020...still get goosebumps listening to his music 🎶
Nearly 2022 here, takes me back to my student days in the 80's, he was all over the radio, because he was appreciated then.
2021
he got his start at the blue moon in seattle playing nitely
Listening to him in 2022 Love it!!
Don’t be afraid of the dark
Robert's voice pure smooth, cool, and caress....
Saw Robert Cray opening for Eric Clapton back in the late 80's. I've been a fan ever since...
I have been fortunate to see Robert Cray in concert 3 times, last time in 2015. He is an amazing guitarist and singer!!
One the best blues guitarists to breathe air. This man's singing & playing style is unique.
Went and saw Robert Cray last weekend. It was the first time I had seen him play live since about 1975. He was as good as he always was. Love Robert Cray.
1975?
Robert Cray- One of God's most beautiful creations.
Love Him
@Isaiah Cropp what has " Gay "got to do with his talent ???
@@KayWEstes WHAT - can you read? His name is CRAY not gay daahh!
Isaiah Cropp He’s married to a beautiful woman and has a son!
최고 ᆢㅡㅡ
Very distinct voice and underplayed lead guitar, allowing the whole band to roll along, very Robert Cray !
My favorite Robert Cray song ever.♥
Found this album on tape in my Dad's collection, put it on one night late 80s on headphones, whilst watching TV with my family. Been a fan ever since, seen Bob three times, legend!
Who's here in 2020 enjoying this fabulous guy and his marvelous Song?

March of 2021 actually this guy Rocks!!
2021 I love this song!
Roberts blues style is clean and romantic than other blues players
Absolutely Best
how could anyone not like this song....
Robert Cray is Outstanding!!!!!!!!
This man has been kicking ass for 35yrs that I know of
Amazing never gets old love him
First time hearing this again since the 90s, just popped into my head today. Still love it.
This whole album was so underrated, it's sickening to me! The record label should've pushed heavy airplay on it. It would've been in the top 40 pop albums of that year!!!!
This Song should been huge it blows nearly anything and everything the last 20-30 years since the pinnacle of all the 80s left no words to describe the list is endless return in spirit and never leave 80s live on forever
I've only just recently found Robert cray's music. But when I listen to any of his songs it just feels like my soul switch is turned on, it just feels right.
Magnific. A Rembrandt. Muito Bom.
jaiden9898 if you should EVER have the ability to see Robert Cray live....GO...it will be a truley amazing experience....he is just that good.
Rebecca Randleman I know it would be...
Got 23+ albums to listen to so you should be busy over 2019...one of my favorites from RC is a song titled; 'One In The Middle', and it is from the; 'Cookin In Mobile' album/DVD/CD released in 2010.
Listening to Robert Cray in summer of 2023...still get goosebumps listening to Robert's music 🎶
I was introduced to this mans talent back in the 90's at the California Strawberry Festival, following Steppenwolf on the stage. After the Seppenwolf set, the crowd thinned out to about half. Those that left dont know what they missed! We were in the presence of true greatness for an hour that day. Been a huge fan ever since.
"Put on some music, Marvin Gayes real nice" WOW what a reference to another sensual blues magic man. Robert Cray just like Marvin Gaye seem to know exactly where my heart is and how I feel about Ladies.
Classic track. Seen him 3 times and he never has disappointed at all. Hugely underated guitarist and composer. He taught myself as a player about mood, subtitles and different tones.
Loving it on this cold day in New Zealand 06/05/20
And also in NZ in a lockdown 15/02/21 :)
The guitar part from, 2:53, to, 2:56, was VERY NICE. The three words RIGHT AFTER that which went, "don't be afraid," made it even more mellow.
The voice, the guitar and the lyrics. There is no mistaking the style of this guy. BRILLIANT,
I still loving this song.... Its too good to be forget...
Probably one of the 20 best E-Guitar Players. Very underrated this Guy. Saw him live its a worldclass artist.
I have been listening to this song since 1985 it never gets old, I still crank it up in the charger !!
I bet you want to blow your tires off - it has that affect, all the intruments makes this another of his songs that will do the same thing
God damn, me too, reminds me of my days in Holland!
1991?
@@shannon14068 el bunrside
1988 perhaps
Zeitlos schön
I know alot of music, artists.. but this guy. Just heard of him, made my day. So many cool tracks. This song is classic in every way.
DrHardrocker Young Bob does it all. People used to clobber him because his blues aren't "raw", but surely that word means more than just one thing. Listen to him . . . anything . . . what more do ya want?
+Olivia Morrissette he ain't raw. but no one is smoother. he is the best- I agree with you. Love this guy
Exactly .. its so fuckin smooth
True words. How many blues players drink hard in past or todays?
You ain't heard nothing yet doctor you got to listen to this entire album he will tell your butt up thanks for posting this video and also Dr please send to this whole album Justified
I like that song - he is a great storyteller.
you are so right, my friend
The first time I heard this beauty, I thought it was the best song of the last 10 years. Now, it is one of the best I've heard in 30 years.
Robert Cray TRUE OLD SCHOOL BLUES what a master he is with the guitar
Why cant I get my Strat' to sound like his? They both have 6 strings and we both have 10 fingers but its just not the same........
blues/rock or blues jazz, its not really plain old blues.
jason king Your right, you might add a little soul music in there too.
When did the 80's become old school?
Steven A. Button Since about 2005. I was in college when this album was released so I feel the same way.
Gotta love Robert Cray band he has a ton of good music.
He is so relaxed, and yet his playing and singing are great
Just saw him last night at celebrity theater. Awesome!
I'm seeing him this Monday, so excited.
how was it?
Love this classic song...x
Robert Cray has a very harmonic vocal cords. Sweet music that touches my heart and soul. Absolutely love his music.
I just saw Robert Cray and Band last week in Dublin`s National Concert Hall and i can honestly say i cannot remember a more pitch perfect vocal and band that sounded so tight. `As tight as a nut` was this classic 4 piece rock band. And a brilliant encore delivered some more magic....what a night, pure class from the great bluesman Robert Cray.
One of his great tunes, top musicians by side like " The Memphis Horns "
Good audio quality / Greetings from Switzerland
Silk slick and sick and smooth and all what a song 😍💖 all i can say to be blessed and part of the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s 80s
What an amazing singer and the band . Love this guy.❤
Such underrated band and singer.
I grew up with Robert Cray's music.
We jam once in Eugene, Or. USA, in around 1980..82 where he was already a town´s sensation.
I just discovered Robert Cray tonight. Oh My God what I have missed for so long.
I remember my dad playing this song on a road trip from NYC to Charlotte NC. As soon as this track started you could feel the car take off. Dad loved to play "dodge a ticket". I sure do miss him.
My condoleances, may he rest in peace
God bless your family. The Lord is looking after your Dad. Don’t worry! He’s fine xx
@@ikemreacts Thank you. You don’t know how much your words mean to me. I lost him 12/29/06 and for you to reach me this week has got my heart fluttering. Thank you. Wishing you ❤️ and happiness 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
My favorite from Mr. Cray 😎🎸
My all-time favorite Robert Cray song.
I've always been afraid of the dark...since a child. Love the song....thank you ND....xx
Robert Cray invited me to watch his band rehearse this song in the Ballroom of the Portland Marriot. .
I spotted him walking thru the lobby. I had seen him open for the Dead early in the summer. Told him I bought his album after that show and he said thanks Man & invited me to listen to this. I will never forget it. Richard Cousins was his Bass Guitar player back then. They really had a great sound.
Blessed brah 🔥
My favorite musical artist of all time. Have seen him in concert and have all his CD’s.
Fantastic voice , live he is great , l have seen him in gofert park in the netherlands 😘
Brilliant! Always makes me want to boogie.
I’m Australian I have been listening to rock & blues for 50yrs I know thousands of songs word for word and timing I don’t say I can sing I’m a very good mimic I can mimic pearl jam through to John Farnham I can’t tell you why but this song is on a loop in my head for decades every empty moment at work or shopping anywhere it’s playing when someone is trying to intimidate me I’m singing “I’m at my best in a pitch black room” it’s enough to make them think this might not be the right bloke to fuck around with when I’m trying to be smooth consoling but future next ex it’s a whisper‘Don’t be afraid of the dark’ what a gift it is this fkn song I can’t get rid of even though I’d be lost without it I have even used his other classic in the morning to remind me to get out of there before the cuddling starts ‘ get this still hot smoking gun out of here he’ll put 2 and 1 together and I’ve had my fill of her kind of fun’😎😢
Great voice! Great smooth guitar style.
I love this guitar sound.
An American legend
He is very good... indeed. He knows something about music. I like him ❤️
Always liked Robert Cray. Very soulful singer and very tasty guitar player!
the 80's were such a diverse genre of music, but the 2 common things were they were fun to listen to, and you could understand the lyrics
Cool never goes out of fashion...................................and this is just so so cool.
Love, love Robert Cray ❤️❤️❤️
I've never heard one of Robert Cray's sons all the way through. I'm damn impressed.
