It's so great that young people like you are finding this stuff out at an early age. No, I don't want to go back to those days, but I do cherish them. He's still on my bucket list for shows. Look for an album called "Showdown" , by Collins , Copeland & Cray. You will slowly find that key, to open up that door to a wonderful world of blues!! Peace, my friend.✌♥️

You could tell that this man is very intelligent. Not only by his annunciation or lyrics but his attack on the guitar is unlike anyone else. He is unique in the blues in a blues world where everyone wants to sound like SRV, or most sang very similar. This man is in a class all by himself. He is one of my favorites, I love Albert Collins for the same reasons. I don’t think anyone is better than Albert Collins.

I know some blues purists don't think Robert is gritty enough but I say balls to that. He's a great player, writes a great tune and has a great voice. Nowt more that one can ask for I think.

    Right Next Door
    Robert Cray
    LYRICS
I can hear the couple fighting right next door
Their angry words sound clear through these thin walls
Around midnight I hear him shout unfaithful woman
And I knew right there the axe was gonna fall
    It's because of me
    It's because of me
I heard him shout who is he, she mumbled low
He said baby don't you lie to me no more
And I'm listening through these thin walls silently
As he called out my name I was right next door
    It's because of me
    It's because of me
She was right next door and I'm such a strong persuader
That she was just another notch on my guitar
She's gonna lose the man that really loves her
In the silence I can hear their breaking hearts
At daybreak I hear him back and say goodbye
I can hear him slam the door and walk away
Right next door I hear that woman start to cry
I should go to her but what would I say
    It's because of me
    It's because of me
She was right next door and I'm such a strong persuader
That she was just another notch on my guitar
She's gonna lose the man that really loves her
In the silence I can hear their breaking hearts

In the vibrant atmosphere of the 80s, my mother didn't miss any opportunity to have fun. And then came that fateful night when I was conceived between stacks of paper and empty bottles by Robert Clay. I am the son of a blues legend, and that's truly something special. I can only imagine how deep the music runs through my veins. It's in my DNA to carry on this musical legacy and write my own story. I will do my best to live out my passion for the blues and inspire the world with my music.

Back in the late 80's, I was driving back from Stinson Beach, over Mt. Tam - a gorgeous drive along cliffs, and the ocean - but really spotty for a radio, lol...and this song comes on. I love blues - and the guys who play them - and this song just resonated with me, I was like "who IS this, I've got to find out"...fortunately, the radio didn't cut out before the announcer could say The Robert Cray Band, and that day, I found someone new to love ;) I still have a copy of this - on a cassette, lol, so I look online when I want to hear it, and I love this song as much as I did the first time ;)

***** Wow, I know and love that gorgeous drive. For me it was usually Muir Beach, but I remember that twisty road, beautiful view from Highway 1, down back into Mill Valley. Great times :-) Yeah, remember discovering amazing music on the radio?!?!

      Anthony Bigler
I was never as fond of Muir Beach as I was Stinson - for me, Stinson was my place of power, especially when I started spending time there to recover from a long term relationship that had gone bad. That drive is so beautiful, and my first sight of Stinson was, well...magical?! It was at the break of dawn, after seeing my first Jerry Garcia show - some people I had met that night, decided to drive over Mt. Tam, it was foggy and mystical, and everybody was on acid ;) Made a real impression ;) And yeah, radio - damn, radio used to be so cool :)
