One of the biggest "Must Know's" is that they're illegal to fly almost everywhere.
You can consider a drone to basically be a gun with regard to where you can use it.
I was going to get one to pursue car prowlers and lead the cops to them, until I found out that was illegal, lololmao.
Hard to see how a market for drones survives when they're illegal almost everywhere.
Then again, there are over 100 million guns in circulation.

Dude, this video is amazing! I’d say it’s the first proper review i’ve seen in a while. The unexpected stuff is really fun and you stick with the info that matters. How would I expect to see someone air blowing a mavic and a phantom indoors?

@Shane Chuck Also, some drones do not require registration in most states. They should specify. I have a $40 drone that is legal in most places because it is so small.
Great video. I'm 73, retired and my Mavic Pro and now my Mavic 2 Pro travel with me on my Tiger Explorer 1200. Life is good. Thanks for the tip about letting it get used to your hand for in-hand landings. Obvious in hindsight.

it has only 25 minutes of playtime, because DJI mentions its props are designed to fly straight forward, so holding position and hovering is actually more energy intensive than forward flying

I wish the camera had a mic, yeah the propeller noise will be there but still for what I do it would drown out prop noise any way

Oh GOD, thank you! I was going crazy in which Drone to choose, Just Pro or Zoom, but since it is possible to do this Dolly Zoom in Premiere - I can finally order Mavic Pro 2 and sleep well!

you can actually decide what you want your drone to do when it looses connection because there might situations where you don´t want it to fly back (maybe because you are in the car driving somewhere and you want the drone to follow you) in which case you can have it hover in set height. Anyway as you mentioned, i got this drone because of the camera specs and I have to say the drone is as good as I thought it would be. Flying it for the first time was so easy and intuitive.

We've come so far with drones, when I graduated from my technical school 7 years ago, one of the projects from friends of mine was building a drone using one of these sets which was one of the only way to get them and then program an app to control it via iPad.
Another friend of mine had the first Parrot drone, but man those were so much worse than the drones we have now.

I had a major shoulder surgery that took my ability to continue racing dirtbikes and also took away any extra money that i had as its all going towards medical bills. I transitioned into live announcing for a couple different race series and would absolutely love to be able to have a drone to capture the events and keep the memories that help me stay involved in racing!

Make sure that you know the application of your drone. The zoom was not fully intended for cinimatoghrapy. My friends dad uses it for inspection services and it’s extremely useful

Thanks for doing the test for us. I bought the P4P2.0 not knowing that DJI had plans of coming up with the M2P. I felt bad because I couldn't return my P4P2.0 by the time the M2P came out. But after watching this video with all the tests, I'm happy with my P4P2.0.
My first drone is going to be Skydio 2. Scheduled delivery is 2nd quarter 2020. Long wait but from what I've learned so far, I've made a good choice!

I’ve only recently started watching your videos and I gotta say I love it. I normally focus on doing photography but watching your videos makes me want to start doing cinematography
I've been watching since around 50K and been loving your videos, especially the "$94 Camera | Can it shoot cinematic video" vi., It was really great and made me start using my first ever camera (a Canon Powershot a495 which costs around £30 second hand these days) again for casual video and photo shooting, to see what I could get with a crappy camera xD. I'd absolutely LOVE a Mavic Pro 2 as the only drone I have is a Bebop 2, which is quite crap. I'd love being able to shoot HI-RES raw photos, not like the crappy output of my Bebop, and the 1-inch sensor would be fantastic for low light photography and videography. Here in London with limited observatories and things of that nature a Mavic Pro 2 would be a dream come true. Hopefully I can win it xD

Love your videos, very personable and easy to watch. I'm surprised you can actually keep me watching for over 20 mins. Bravo Potato Jet. Hopefully I can get your old Mavic and be imbuned with all your remnant drone video prowers.
A VERY VERY valuable thing to know. But you'll only need it if you've screwed up and it's a semi-emergency. If you've gotten too far away, and the battery is so low it's doing a forced landing: You can over-ride the decent with up throttle. So you CAN force it to keep flying until the drone literally falls out of the sky. This can buy you a couple hundred yards. But know that very soon the drone is going to fall out of the sky. If you're 50' high, you'll do some damage. If you DON'T do this over-ride, the drone will decend under control and land gracefully. If this is in water or on the other side of a cliff, the exrra distance can save the drone. It's just something to know for a situation that you shouldn't get into.

Thanks to both you and Chris for making this particular episode. I'm a done beginner (but long time RC racer) and couldn't choose between the Mavic2 and the Phantom4 as we have more windy days than calm here. After watching your collab with Chris where he speaks about the weight of the Phantom being cancelled out by it Sail-Area that , its an easy choice to go for the Mavic 2 Pro. That goes double as I ride a bike too and will need to take it with me when I ride to a job. Thanks Again fellers! Open Sky!

Ive been into photography and film making since i was eleven and i was wondering what canera would be good to start with. i have a budget of 400 dollars. So can you guys recommend me some?
if you can go to a shop and try a few out. you can get a nice starter DSLR for that sort of money.
For 400 go for a used dslr or mirrorless that shoots 1080. I like the Sony A series, there should probably be a good A6000 or higher for 400 in the US
Under 400? Probably a mirrorless, DLSR worth buying are more then that.
@@toriless Gear snobbery may make you feel better about yourself but it wont help the OP, there are many DSLRs that can be picked up for under 400 I know because that about the budget I started with.
Agree! Sony A6000 would be great way to start, can probably find some killer deals on it as well.

For the 30p shots in a 24p timeline, consider reducing the speed to 80% for no dropped frames and a smoother motion while not too slow
The bad things about Mavic 2 pro
the barrel distortion in log mode
not using the whole sensor, it is instead using line skipping to avoid sensor overheat, cousing not the sharpest image. Even the spark is sharper right now.
So the mavic 2 pro is flawed?
Guys I've bought Mavic 2 Pro and I'm sorry for my words. Ok, sharpness is not as good as in P4P, but damn... 10bit and LOG is amazing, and distorion is quite easy to fix in post ;)
This is gonna make it really easy for the fbi to track me.
Or for you to track the FBI. Modern problems require modern solutions.

Mr Potato Jet, you should consider a visit to Australia. We have relaxed Drone laws, UAV's under 2km don't require a licence plus there are lots of areas to fly.

Bought the Phantom 4, 2.5 months ago and im waiting for a replacement from DJI as i drowned it in the salty water of Pleasant Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Canada a few weeks ago. Thankfully i had purchased the DJI Care Refresh. If i were to buy today 2.5 months later, it would be the Mavic 2Pro. Thanks PJ

You were talking about how the camera needs to be smoother in cinematic mode. You can edit that if you go to gimbal settings and then into advanced. Then you will be able to adjust the max gimbal speed and the smoothness of it. Enjoy!

Get yourself a DJI Smart Controller and pair it with a set of Epson Moverio BT-35E Augmented Reality glasses. That setup takes flying the Mavic 2 Pro to another level.
15:28 lol I was so sure that beep came from my camera, which has an identical beep when it has been left on and it powers off. It sounded completely outside of the video for some reason.

I can honestly say this is thee best video on the mavi pro 2 that i have seen. we have looked at (no joke) probably 20 to 30+ videos on the mavic pro 2! This video is ahmazing, you show us actually what you are looking at on screen and how to use the features and then you show us irl the differences in each of those! We have been looking to up our production and just Everything with our channel. We are a weekly family vlog channel but with the inspiration of people like you and Peter, Casey, Sara etc...we want to bring "Story" and great cinematography to our vlogs! We want to do sooo much more with our channel. So we want so many things for production; gopro hero 7, ronin S, Mavic pro 2, nd filters, speed booster for the m50. and on and on. So our decision about which drone to get to start with was between the mavic spark, air or first gen mavic pro 2. Obviously bc of pricing. The Spark is a big NO, the air or first gen pro2 was my choice and we were about to purchase....Until we saw this video. Now we are 100% Mavic Pro 2 (love the hasselblad camera!) + so much more you showed us! Decison made, thank you NEXT?!?!!? Not sure if we should get the Ronin S however first or the Mavic pro 2? Any suggestions on which would be used more in weekly vlogs? Thank you again and So sorry this comment became so randomly looooooong!!! i was actually in doubt on whether to buy the pro or zoom, for the dolly zoom effect. im a sucker for the dolly zoom lol love it, but you made such a good point on not wanting to over do it and if you look it like that id rather have better quality 24/7 than having a drone dolly zoom every once in a while

I enjoyed your description of differences between the different Mavic series of drones. A lot of good basic info in a very condensed format. Good technical descriptions of how to do things, without having to watch hours of agonizingly slow moving step by step examples. Your video answered many technical questions that I had. At least for someone readily familiar with the basic Mavic Pro. I 've been flying for years, but have been agonizing over which new Mavic to buy, and your video convinced me to go with the Pro over the Zoom. The only advantage I can see with the Zoom is the ability to get shots with greater stand off distance, which is nice when you're trying to be stealthy or going in close would otherwise make me nervous. Subscribed! :)

I love all the shots u can put together
Like filming a moving car
U can switch thru the front to the back in an instant
Nice review, I just did my first video on the Mavic 2 pro. I’m happy with the image quality but there’s some reports that the sensor is not being fully utilized.
