Hello Div, ramp truck is moving along nicely 👌. Looking forward to seeing more of this build as well. The supply house is a impressive facility. Take care Boet and see you next time. Have a Lekka one 👍
Dif, your steel supplier is ten times as nice as anyone of the three I go to, I was impressed at the way everything was so clean and organized. A man could go goofy dreaming of all the possibilities after seeing all that beautiful steel and hardware begging to go home him. Thanks for the video, I really like your construction design.....will be following your project for sure mate.👍
Great to see 👀 a proper job !! On a ramp truck ..I saw a guy in Canada build one out of angle iron and muffler pipe ..lol ??? Good to see it done PROPERLY ✔️
It's only done wrong if it doesn't work. I've seen some stuff that would be sketchy by today's standards that was built a long time ago and still holds.
Yes steel structures are the same way as well bolting and riveting are the best way to maintain the strength. There are places where welding cannot be done. And then there are areas that can be welded. Your Idea of bolting and following the same design has been proven to work. Can't wait to see the continuance of your awesome Gold line. She's looking really sharp. Have a great time Take care Div.
Please let your wife know that when you're not repairing the brush cutter, you are bringing joy to some other guy in Seattle who really appreciates it on the other side of the planet.
Hey Div, Good to see the work starting on the REO Ramp Truck Bed. The sliding ramps sounds like an interesting part of the project. I have full faith in your ability to make it all work. Take care
Thank you for showing HOW you make design choices -- I don't have much "vision" and the way you use mockups and templates to find angles and see how something fits is extremely helpful to my style of creativity. Rock on, Div.
Div, You shared very valuable information on mounting things to vehicle frames. Thank You. I very much enjoy Your fabrication. Best Wishes to You and Your Family.
Great lessons in this one. One of the things I LOVE about your channel is the analysis and planning discussion. The way you describe not just HOW you do things, but WHY. And why that way is the best (or the best compromise). You continue to impress! Many thanks as always. Can’t wait to see rusty rods rolling on your radical ramp! 😊👍👍
Thanks brother! My whole life I've been asking the WHY question about everything. Its now second nature with me🙂I do believe all of us should question the why more! So much BS floating around and people accept half truths too easily... The WHY is more important than the HOW!
@@ratrodsafrica definitely. THINKING is not something that happens TO YOU because you have a brain, it’s something you have to DO because you have a brain. I've seen some of the hack job builds you were talking about, some of those guys don't have a clue. You have the perfect combination of engineering and creative fabrication. Great work.👍
I felt sorry for you living out in the bush in a relatively backward country. After seeing where you go for steel, I envy you. I would have to drive 200+ miles to find a shop like that. The only sheet of steel that I have purchased cost me for crating it up and shipping. Unbelievably expensive. Thank you for taking the time to post your projects.
Hey Diff!! Lots of fabricating today. I missed feedback Friday as I was looking forward to it. Cheers. Perhaps a spacer in between the frame flanges on the inside of the frame rails at the bolt clamp locations so the flanges won’t crush down.
love the way you show your plan come together like the sound of double slide out ramps look forward to see it all come together from Breaux Bridge ,LA 🐊 till next time 👍
Nice to see someone who knows how truck decks are mounted Ive seen the welded on effort it is bound to fail Ive done far too many walk around checks on trucks in this lifetime not to know how they are built but nobody wants to know keep up the good work on your REO
I’ve been looking forward to this all week. Past “experience” has me sitting here crossing my fingers you’ll be able to get that out the door and a hard right to freedom.
Yoooo!! Div!! Man you are making some progress there boet!!! Love how you explained how you got the angle of the rear of the ramp to avoid bottoming out when loading something. Also enjoyed learning why they rivet cross members/ braces from the factory was to allow for flexing of the chassis/frame rails. The big ramp truck is gonna be a beast!!! And excellent recylcing of the metal 😃 Excited for the next one!!!!
Hey Div, The Ramp Truck is looking good. The idea of using the rubber from a conveyor belt is a very good idea. You could also use non-radial multi-ply tires. I know that my Grandfather used them on his Grain Truck when he still lived out on the farm. Bart
Another great video, and another impressive tutorial in load stress welding and drilling, your engineering knowledge and skills are truly inspiring. Looking forward to the next instalment when you continue this project. Lekka Boet Michael Uk 🇬🇧
Hi Dif, keep up the good work. I've been watching you since the f100 build as that's what I have. Your videos have showed me that with a can do mindset and some logical thinking you can achieve some fab work yourself with little equipment. Stay cool😊
The angle of bed discussion was great. Very simply explained a great teacher. I used to do a small bit of metallurgy on copper cable. Very interesting checking radius’s measurements and cracks under microscope. Doing tensile breaking fatiguing etc. really enjoyed it.
Div your ramp truck project is really coming together nicely sir. Can’t wait to see more updates and projects and many more videos soon sir. Keep up the great craftsmanship hard work my friend. Fab On. Weld on. Keep Making. God bless.
I was hoping you wouldn't weld it to the frame like someone else did and your right about the holes in the top flat of the frame. VERY NICE WORK. I'm curious about what motor your running. HAVE A GOOD ONE.
Howzit brother, Diff... Bob n myself are impressed with that supply shop... If you can't find it there,, you don't need it.. 😆,,,, Truck is coming along nicely 👍😎💯.....
Another great video. You must have sat in that thinking chair for quite awhile this time. 😂😂😂 I really like that you do your homework before tackling such a big project. Do it right the first time. 👍🏻👍🏻 I’m interested in what you have in store for the ramps. My thought is, what if the front is really low. Will you compensate for that, or just figure it out when that time comes? I’ve seen where some lowered cars drag the front bumper when loaded onto a ramp truck or trailer. Great job my friend. Say hello to the boss. 😂😂😂
The ramp angle business is quite interesting. Even with a commercial roll back, there comes a point where the angle is too much for really low cars. At some point you have to compromise. So yeah, more time in that thinking chair to find the best solution. Lets see...😅

Yeah, real happy to have that shop in my local town. They have taken a fortune from me over the years😅
We're very fortunate in the states, I have a few shops like this in my area to choose from!
Cool project and design. Very interesting information about weakening the frame and the use of rivets vs. welding, etc.
Really glad that you explained the reasoning for riveted frame members and why not to drill holes! Div, it’s looking great!

Turning into a nice classic truck .
