We need part 2 with Dominic! I loved the interview! Billy is so great at having a natural conversation with guests. Thank you for another amazing episode
Adam is one of my favorite people, and Billy is a fantastic interviewer. This is a fantastic episode, please have Adam back to give Dom a bite at the onion, so to speak.
This has to be the best video on RUclips, ive loved Dom and Billy since LoTR, and Adam ive watched every one of his ODB's, what an hour ive got to look forward too
To answer Dom's question, it's surface tension. Each separate little body of water has this thing called surface tension, that in a way acts as a barrier to the world outside the drop. When that barrier is touched by another one, they merge together. I suspect that there are tiny droplets of water present, or the drops themselves are elongated enough that their respective surfaces are merging, and that merge goes all the way up into the faucet (or tap). This creates a cylindrical column of flowing water molecules, aka Dom's continuous stream of water. This is called laminar flow, and it's all due to the surface tension of the water. This is used to great effect in the animated movie, A Bug's Life.
Did anyone else pause in the last minute to immediately go and try Dom's droplet-to-stream hypothesis? It didn't work for me, stayed a droplet the whole time. I think Dom just had a leaky faucet growing up. Great episode! Adam Savage is such a genius while still being a lovely person. it was cool to learn more about his life before Mythbusters.
Another great conversation with Adam! Hearing about the experiences he has had and learning more about things he has created and built was pretty cool. He seems like a very well versed, awesome individual! Much love as always to you, Billy and Dom! These episodes always fill me with such joy and make me laugh. 🥰😇
Billy, just saw your excellent performance in NCIS:Hawai'i. Though I was not happy you were the "bad guy," you did it so well, exuding the nice side of your character. To be honest. I never saw in this type of character before. Well done. And Dom, always keeping my eyes out for you, as well. Truly enjoyed your TV series and was certainly bummed when it did not continue. As a podcaster towards the end of our sixth season, you two do a great job with "The Friendship Onion." Keep up the great work and entertainment. Stay Safe & Stay Well!
It's funny how Bill has the natural ability to bring Adam down to a calmer quieter level of conversation but still talk about things that excite them both. If it were only Dom, I feel like he'd amp up Adam's energy level and they'd both be riding an energy high together. Different approaches, both are good. It's a comfort to hear Adam has ADHD like I do and uses the same focus technique of ignoring the brain-noise by focusing on one thing (for me, it's artwork), and I also use music to maintain focus or spawn ideas.
You guys have become the joyous epicenter of my geekdom. Between Adam Savage, Wil Wheaton, Stephen Colbert and introducing me to Dr. Corey Olsen this past (almost) year has been a series of serendipitous moments with your passion and love at the center of it. Thank you.
Wow this was an awesome episode!!! I was just enraptured by all the great stories that you guys shared. Thanx!!! 😃 Wow three of my favorite people on the same channel!!! Keep the videos coming. I love you guys!!! 🥰
0:24 Don't you dare drop that 'g' Mr. MonaGhan!!! Your name wouldn't be the same without it! 😉 10:13 I realize it's no longer Billy's son's birthday but happy late 16th birthday!! 41:38 I love your hat, Billy 😂 While Dom was definitely missed in this episode, it was still very fun and enjoyable to watch. Billy is great at interviewing people! Adam seems like a great guy, I liked hearing about how he still managed to get home at 6:00 to have dinner with his family every day 🥰 Love you both and am looking forward to finally getting caught up on the episodes!!! 😂❤❤
Cool to here that Adam started on bikes. That is how my uncle got started. As a kid he used fix all the bikes in the neighborhood. He worked his way up to fixing plans for air companies (I think southwest)... RIP
I missed Dom here but still such a great interview! Generally with this podcast for me: the most challenging (but fulfilling) part of my work week is on Tuesday afternoons and I always watch this after, a perfect treat to decompress 🤩 Also I listen to so many podcasts involved with my industry or politics/society and this is just something fun -- where I can still learn a whole lot but it's all positive and light-hearted. So grateful for that 💙👏🏻
I always put speaker on listen to music at work but these time I put Billy talking to Adam. On some moment I saw my scottish manager (I live in UK) simply standing in doorway and smiling☺️ 🏴it was so cool. Friendship Onion got the best guest or rather should I say they allow them to be best and let them talk. They always talk so passionate about they lives, work and experiences❤️
Awesome episode fellas. I have watched Mythbusters from the pilots to the end and beyond. The White Rabbit project and Tested have kept my mind exposed to awesomeness squared.
Hey Billy thought you might like this fun fact Queens lead guitarist, Brian May, built his first guitar called the red special out of an old oak table when he was younger the same guitar he wrote 'we will rock you' on !!
5:45 probably because Giallo films are typically popular shlock mystery or horror films made in Italy that became super popular in the states, kinda like spaghetti westerns. You’re welcome.
The reason why a drippy tap could change to a stream with your finger could be capillary action. If you think water drops on a surface beads, or in a test tube dips, whereas a liquid like blood doesn't bead. This capillary action makes it easy to siphon water. -That probably made no sense as text 😀 Love the show guys.
I don't know how to explain the drip into a stream thing, but I kinda understand why it happens, it's about viscosity and how fluid dynamics interact with each other. Water likes to have a layer on top of it that keeps it more still, but when that layer breaks water doesn't keep still and moves very fast towards low pressure, also water follows water so it drags the rest of the water with it from within the tap. I know this video is 2 years old but I just had to leave a comment in case nobody did or in case you never found out and in case you revisit this comment section.
And right off the bat: fancy hearing Martyrs mentioned. One of the very few horror movies I've ever willingly picked up and watched... don't know why I did. Never ben too much for horror. Was memorable, though. (I believe it's French).
Appreciate Adam being humble when mentioning David Attenborough, a hero to so many, but I would love to see him make those kind of TV shows in his field. Rarely seen that kind of patient, thoughtful and passionate looks at engineering projects (or production design?), and I think he'd be great. TV bods make it happen! edit: also, whisper it, I think he might be more or less the same age that Attenborough was when he was making the likes of Life on Earth/Living Planet. Positively youthful!
Martyrs is a French movie and it is absolutely terrifying. watched it once 13 years ago and am still not ready to watch it again. and I watch lots of horror.
Martyrs was French I think. It is notorious online, that's probably why doms friend wanted him to see it. It also got a lot of reactions at horror fest.
Hi Billy, I know its been a while since this episode. 😊 I can build you a guitar if you ever wanted to. any shape or size, no limits. 🎸 Its a pity you stopped those videos. Nice show that was. 💪
Scariest movies came from the 70s. They were less graphic, leaving more to the imagination. And I think they worked better that way. First is "The Exorcist". Second is "Black Christmas". Third is "The Sentinel". They still hold up...
Have we given up on having Billy and Dom eat the world? I'm curious about what Adam Savage would have picked. And if he'd choose to cook it using a blowtorch or some other kind of unusual method.
Martyrs is actually a French film originally! And the skin removal thing was about them putting someone through so much pain that they might see god before death. The nefarious man is trying to find out if god is real or if it's all for nothing.
I love this podcast and I’m thrilled you guys are bringing on guests that highly interest me but I don’t know why the quality has gone down. The early episodes were both Billy and Dom and then a guest in person all filmed in a studio. But now you’re both not even in the full episodes and we keep cutting to ad reads in different places and both of you aren’t even talking to the guest. Just feels like we’re jumping all over. Just giving me thoughts because I love this podcast and want to see it improve and grow!
My father wrecked film and tv for me at 5. He said never forget there are 50 people there sound fx stunt crew writers. Destroyed the A team he'd say on a cliff hanger episode. He said look in the tv magazine if it's not on next week they are FCKED.
This is great, but it would be nice Billy if the title wasn't clickbait and just said "Billy Talks to Adam Savage". Otherwise it's a straight up lie. Dom didn't talk to Adam.
Fun fact: Howard Shore composed the music for LOTR, but did you all know the first movie he scored? The Brood. Billy oughta like that!
Excellent fun fact!
He has done every David Cronenberg film to this day.
We need part 2 with Dominic! I loved the interview! Billy is so great at having a natural conversation with guests. Thank you for another amazing episode
I approve of any excuse for more Adam Savage
Conversion
I never missed an episode of Myth Busters. Adam still has his energy and enthusiasm. Love it! Exceptional interview.
And both him and Jamie aged great. Adam looks 40, just like he looked when he was 30!
Me neither. I miss that show so much
I love how Adam looks like he's talking to us from a doorway into another dimension.
Adam is one of my favorite people, and Billy is a fantastic interviewer. This is a fantastic episode, please have Adam back to give Dom a bite at the onion, so to speak.
I thought “fabulous interviewer” also! It really was like he was peeling an onion and loving every new layer. 😄
*fantastic interviewer 🤦♀️
This is my favorite episode so far. I love Adam Savage and Mythbusters, used to watch them when i was little. Thank you Billy and Dom! :D
This has to be the best video on RUclips, ive loved Dom and Billy since LoTR, and Adam ive watched every one of his ODB's, what an hour ive got to look forward too
Aah! How have I missed this until now!?
To answer Dom's question, it's surface tension. Each separate little body of water has this thing called surface tension, that in a way acts as a barrier to the world outside the drop. When that barrier is touched by another one, they merge together.

GREAT conversation could listen to this for hours!:) hope youll get him on again when Dom is there as well
Thanks, Billy! Thanks, Dominic! Thanks, Adam! 🧅
The guest I've always wanted on but thought I'd never get. My two favourite channels have collided and its amazing. Such a great episode this week
Same! I watch them both as well. It sounds like we'll be gifted another segment with Dom someday. Cannot wait!
What's a perfection? Having the hobbits and Adam from Mythbusters in the same show. I love this. We need another show with him.
Billy and Dom always makes my day happy
Another great conversation with Adam! Hearing about the experiences he has had and learning more about things he has created and built was pretty cool. He seems like a very well versed, awesome individual!
Much love as always to you, Billy and Dom! These episodes always fill me with such joy and make me laugh. 🥰😇
I do love when my favorite celebrities come together

Clicked like before hearing a single word. What a fantastic combination!

My hero! Have a picture of him above my work space to motivate me to work hard!
Wow this was an awesome episode!!! I was just enraptured by all the great stories that you guys shared. Thanx!!! 😃

Awesome episode guys! Loving this content
I think the best part of any video with Adam in it is him going "wait one second" and just sprinting around the cave lol
I’m so excited about this!!!
Cool to here that Adam started on bikes. That is how my uncle got started. As a kid he used fix all the bikes in the neighborhood. He worked his way up to fixing plans for air companies (I think southwest)... RIP
You guys are really on a winning streak with guests lately. Love it! See you next week, cheers 🍻
Let's go! I'm so excited for this!
Thanks for responding my quest, guys 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Billy and Adam's hat-off is worth the price of admission alone.
I missed Dom here but still such a great interview! Another great guest. Thank you! Love you guys ❤️❤️
Fabulous! Loved it! Adam is such an interesting person and his enthusiasm is infectious :)
Ahhh I love this man. I got to be an extra on one of the zombie Mythbusters episodes and it was great fun.
The episode I've been hoping for since you guys started! Loved it! 👍😀
When I say who the guest was it made me so happy I watch tested, and have done more many years. What a amazing episode as usual guys!
Fab as always guys! Love hearing passionate people talk passionately about their passions ❤️
Yesss! Can't wait to watch this. Such a great idea for a guest.
I always put speaker on listen to music at work but these time I put Billy talking to Adam. Wow. You're just rolling in my favorite guests of late.
Wonderful interview. I really love when my 2 fandoms join together. So question for Dom and Billy, have you gotten behind the camera????
Three of my favorite people in one place! Well technically 2 for the interview I guess lol
Adam is always such a delight!
Fabulous.
Hey Billy thought you might like this fun fact Queens lead guitarist, Brian May, built his first guitar called the red special out of an old oak table when he was younger the same guitar he wrote 'we will rock you' on !!
What a lovely podcast, Adam is just the best
The horror movie mentioned by Dom is Martyrs, a canadian/french film.
Savage is a lot of fun.
Great show today guys!👍👍
Adam Savage is cool as hell. Hope he can come back.
Hey Billy! My husband was an Aitkenhead from Glasgow.
5:45 probably because Giallo films are typically popular shlock mystery or horror films made in Italy that became super popular in the states, kinda like spaghetti westerns. You’re welcome.
Adam’s hair is always fabulous lol
The only thing that I like more than Middle earth is Adam Savage.
Great fun. "Chance favors the prepared mind"
I remember when I was a kid watching Mythbusters on Discovery. Still stirres the imagination. Thanks Adam !

Adam Savage, Billy taking the lead, and DomTitties! 🎉🎉🎉😁

I know this video is 2 years old but I just had to leave a comment in case nobody did or in case you never found out and in case you revisit this comment section.
I wanted a Miami blue telecaster or strat. Good choice on the color.
Adam is such a freaking nerd, I love it!!
And right off the bat: fancy hearing Martyrs mentioned. One of the very few horror movies I've ever willingly picked up and watched... don't know why I did. Never ben too much for horror. Was memorable, though.

I love Tuesdays ❤️
Plot for italian horror movie: ketchup on pizza.
There is only one thing we need to know about adam savages brief acting career
Did he get to squeeze the charmin?
Martyrs is a French movie and it is absolutely terrifying. watched it once 13 years ago and am still not ready to watch it again. and I watch lots of horror.
What song is their intro?
Ha ha, them doing a bit of a Chicago accent!
Martyrs was French I think. It is notorious online, that's probably why doms friend wanted him to see it. It also got a lot of reactions at horror fest.
Can we get more quizzes and not necessarily as many guests
Nightmare in Elm Street hit me hard too.
My older cousins showed me Nightmare on elm street when I was 7.
My guess is that your finger causes just enough of a delay that the water droplets hit each other as they fall, making a stream. That or wizardry idk.
Awesome
Yes
Hi Billy, I know its been a while since this episode. 😊 I can build you a guitar if you ever wanted to. any shape or size, no limits. 🎸 Its a pity you stopped those videos. Nice show that was. 💪
Day of the Dead at 12. Once you see a zombie's guts hit the floor there's no where to go horror wise.
Tongue twister: The butler burned the butter but the bacon bore the brunt.
Martyrs from what year?
Got a riddle. A power great and mighty. I cover all but not entirely. Beauty can be seen when I come and go. What am I?
1:04:00 Surface tension?
In Billy's defense, there's a lot of really gory Italian horror films, but they're largely from the 70s & 80s
Lol a chicken in a bad mood lol
Scariest movies came from the 70s. They were less graphic, leaving more to the imagination. And I think they worked better that way. First is "The Exorcist". Second is "Black Christmas". Third is "The Sentinel". They still hold up...
I wonder how many poeple went to a tap to try the drip thing
Have we given up on having Billy and Dom eat the world? I'm curious about what Adam Savage would have picked. And if he'd choose to cook it using a blowtorch or some other kind of unusual method.
I think the drip thing is something to do with surface tension.
😎
Martyrs is actually a French film originally! And the skin removal thing was about them putting someone through so much pain that they might see god before death. The nefarious man is trying to find out if god is real or if it's all for nothing.
Martyrs is French lol and Dom basically gave away the ending...
I love this podcast and I’m thrilled you guys are bringing on guests that highly interest me but I don’t know why the quality has gone down. Martyrs is absolutely harrowing, but its got a good ending.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
