I am a huge fan of this podcast but the man who called in is my hero! As someone with misophonia, I usually have to skip eat the world. I would love to be able to enjoy the entire podcast - especially because sometimes they eat for the majority of it! Having said that, I know misophonia isn’t the most common of problems and that’s why I don’t expect others to change for me. On the other note, the amount of joy your chewing may bring one viewer does not outweigh the amount of suffering it causes me or someone else with my same issue. I love that we are having a conversation about it and am happy to bring more light to misophonia and it’s very existence! Nonetheless I love this podcast and a love you both. You made the most wonderful Cameo for my friend Maple and our Lord of the Rings book club - we watch it regularly. Thanks for all the joy you bring to this world, mouth noises and all!!!!!
I have misophonia but mine isn't affected by chewing. It's loud harsh sounds like metal clanging, motorcycles, and semi trucks. I rather enjoy their chewing actually and I'm not sure why.
@@Whowascooley same, eating or chewing isn't much of a trigger in my case. It's throat-clearing and coughing and general throat noises that set me off mostly. I also can't abide babies crying, loud sirens or sudden explosions.
The chewing is hilarious. xD What other podcast has that?!? Makes me laugh every time. Forget that critic and just be your awesome self, Dom. ;)

I need to say a huge THANK YOU to Dom! I'm home educating my 5 year old son and I hold a pencil between my forefinger and thumb and my son was REALLY struggling which was affecting his confidence, bringing out frustration and making letter writing near impossible but I just didn't know any other way. Then I watched this and saw how Dom held the pencil and thought oh that looks different, I should give that a go. So, first go at this morning and he instantly grinned and told me how great it felt, he can do it easily, drop the pencil to count on his fingers then pick it up again in the exact same way and continue writing. Now he's able to try for neater letters and our writing from now on is going to be a dream. Thanks Dom!!!! XxxxxxxxX

Also, I was hoping you would do the Tim Tam Slam. It works better if you just nibble off opposite corners and leave more biscuit for structure. If you use the caramel ones, the caramel melts and it gets deliciously messy.

I didn't have a TV in college and discovered LOTR at that time (late 70's). Used to read through it every few years. But once the movies arrived the casting was just so perfect that the cast replaced the characters I had created in my mind and now it is only the movies for me. And of course they're just so awesomely done.
Same. I picture the whole cast and even the places like Orthanc, Bree, and Moria as they are in the movies whenever I read. (Except the wall around Minas Tirith...its still black😂)

Me, an Australian: do you mean a TimTam slam
I'm from Aust. We call it a 'TimTam bomb'. Because it 'explodes', as Billie found out. You're supposed to use it as a straw only until you feel the hot liquid come through, and then throw the whole biscuit into your mouth, where it explodes into melted chocolate goodness.
Another tip: only bite each corner off, so you have a longer "straw" to handle. Makes it easier.
Also, dark choc TimTams are the best ones. 😉
I would like to offer a song for the "Is it Funky?" segment. The track is "Chitterlings Con Carne" by Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers, specifically the flute solo at the beginning of the song.

Extra use for Tim Tams. Blitz a whole packet in a food processor, add a teaspoon of creme de cacao and a teaspoon of butter, heat it all in a saucepan, press it into a foil lined springform pan, put it in the fridge to set and use it as a base for a cheesecake.
I'm Australian and wanted to write in about having Tim Tams but I felt like they would already be acquainted with them from their time in New Zealand. Glad to see them still go ahead and have some! I love white chocolate Tim Tams.
Maybe if they do another "Australian" food - meat pie, damper, Kangaroo meat, vegemite, lamingtons, fairy bread, Barramundi... the list is endless!

I love your podcast, guys! but I'm a person with sensitive hearing and hearing you chew gets me sort of anxious. Actually, hearing people chew in general gets me nervous and I just want to rip off my ears. I know it's not your fault, and I do everything I can so I don't "lost it" while watching/listening the podcast (turn the volum down, skip that part or taking off my headphones), but I'd be more than happy to notice that your chewing noises decrease. That's all from a hobbit person that enjoys Tuesdays more because of you. Greetings!!

Another great show lads, I look forward to the podcast every week. I'm from the US and currently living in Guatemala. Yous guys talking about penguin snacks, there is a cream filled chocolate cake snack here called penguinos. Are they the same? It's similar to a ding dong. Keep up the awesome show.

White chocolate doesn’t have the cocoa bean, but it is made with cocoa bean oil. This is why of all the “chocolate,” you can feed white chocolate to dogs without the ill effects.
Speaking of using food as a straw, bite the ends off a strawberry licorice Twizzler and use it to sip some Dr Pepper!

I was taught to do a Tim Tam Slam with cold milk so it doesn't melt.

Dom! True white chocolate has cocoa butter, which is a chocolate byproduct, and makes it more expensive. But most cheap white chocolate isn't related, and shouldn't be called chocolate.

As someone who also has a maths degree Dom's response is what exactly everyone does 🤣🤣🤣. In reality though maths degrees as all algebra and Greek letters and wacky shapes and far too much theory. I became overly reliant on my calculator for the smallest and simplest of sums. So overall I went in with more mental maths ability than I came out with and everything else just fell out of my brain the moment I left the exam so I think I now know less after 3 years of a degree. (Disclaimer i enjoyed a decent amount of it really hahaha)
I Think another Part of the Turtle and tortoise thing could come frome the large amount of Amaricans with german roots. Since in german it is indeed the same name for oth of them people just went with the shorter
