One of my fav. scenes with Merry and Pippin was in The Return of the King when Pippin is leaving with Gandalf and Pippin, very confused, asks Merry "We'll see each other again soon?" And Merry is almost crying ,"I don't know what will happen." They were the comedic duo, the heart of innocence, so when the darkness reaches them, it's just so much more powerful!
This show cheers me up so much. The sheer joy in the smiles on their faces when they see each other, pure love for their friend. Love that they also ate marmite!! It’s awesome on roast potatoes, makes them nice and crispy and salty
I was at Wales comic con this weekend just gone and saw that Billy was there (I didn't realise he was going!) I'd already bought a ticket to meet Sean and didn't even get to do that due to poor organisation on the con's behalf. So I'm glad I didn't order a ticket for Billy like I was going to because his queue was just as long! I sincerely hope you'll come to more UK cons though Billy, I'm trying to get everyone to sign my copy of The Two Towers extended edition (the exact copy I watched as a kid with my Dad). I also hope you'll consider coming to UK cons too Dom, it would be incredible if you guys got to do a live set of the Friendship Onion at comic con!!
@@SarahAyalah me too 😭 my husband met him six years ago and got a photo with him, he said he was lovely! I've met John twice and he was wonderful (he gave me the BEST photo!), and his signature is right in the middle of my dvd case, but so far he's the only member of the primary cast I have on there. I was so excited to finally get Sean and Billy's autographs - but alas 😭😭
Nothing about Marmite looks appealing to me but after those high scores and Billy's reactions, I think I may have to pop over to my local Scottish & Irish store (selling British goods) and grab some to try. haha.
Love Tuesdays now. Was wonderful meeting you Billy in Winnipeg 🇨🇦. And love that we are fellow musicians. Love your band by the way. Peace be with you both. -Brian (singer for WHY).
I love you guys! Everyone who’s ever been to a primary school roller skating night can’t help but know the chicken dance song, it’s permanently emblazoned on our brains - never as much fun as watching the Dom and Billy version!
In America, we call it The Chicken Dance. And you promenade during the B section. You're supposed to just wander around and have fun with it, and then stop wherever you are when the A section comes back and do the chicken dance there.
We do The Chicken Dance at my huge family reunion every year and there are three things people do during that section. You can link arms and spin with a partner, you can all grab hands and kind of side skip in a circle, or just do whatever little dance you want to. Love the podcast! never miss an episode :)
The Birdie Dance lol 😆 🐣🐤🐥 so I am from Scotland and I am surprised you don't remember Billy lol as it was played at every school disco (it's still played at my kids ones!) And it was always danced in a circle so at the break you would link arms and skip round with the person next to you, swapping arms half way through, or sometimes you would link arms and everyone would wind there way through the circle .. as you can imagine it's chaos lol
Your podcast always puts a huge smile on my face even on bad days. Had a rough month so i missed a few episodes but i watched them all today and it really made me feel so incredibly good and joyful again, so thank you for that! Perfect show.
This show is unprecedented FUN!! You get humor, history, geography, science, Food Network judging..Funk Music reviews..WHY WOULD YOU WATCH/LISTEN TO ANY OTHER PODCAST?!!! Billy and Dom's friendship is what we need more of in the world! These guys are warm, funny and inspiring. They put a little spice in our lives... DEFINITELY A MUST LISTEN TO PODCAST or like I enjoy..WATCH THEM ON RUclips!! DO YOUR LIFE A FAVOR AND FLAVOR IT WITH THE FRIENDSHIP ONION!!!
10/10 for the marmite, i mentioned it a few weeks ago as an idea so idk whether you guys saw my comment or whether this is coincidence but i love it and im from the town it comes from
Dom, you'll be happy to hear you've created another Marmite fan! I was inspired by your passion and enthusiasm to give it a try. I LOVE IT!!! Can't wait to fix up your favorite sandwich for the whole experience. Shall we call it the Monaghan? 😁👍
I do find it quite bizzare and funny at the same time to be watching Merry and Pippin having a good natter only to be interupted half way through by Boromir telling me about O2’s latest deals
1954 song from a swiss national, called "dance of the birds", was popular thru the 70's and they made a singing version in France in 84, called "dance of the ducks" It must be famous in europe but i'm not sure americans know it! ^^
For the bit you say "how it's danced", you just grab the others arm and both of you swing around according to tone...at least we do that in Greece 🤣😂..Love you guys you're AWESOME!!!!!
How wonderful was it to see Billy’s first introduction to the wonderful substance that is Marmite!. I used to spread it on toast in my animation studio where I work’s kitchen and Americans wouldn’t know what it was…. And i used to say It’s Devil’s Chocolate. Here’s a question…. Isn’t Twiglets in the UK also covered in Marmite?
Love your podcast!! If you plan to make more merch it would be awesome to have a few tshirts of some of the recurring show bits. I would love one with the onions on the front holding envelopes and "Emails & Real Mails! Fast as Tigers, Slow as Snails!" on the back. Another awesome idea is the onion on the front with a bite out of it and "Billy & Dom Eat the World!" on the back. Last one: onion on the front and "Will You Take the Ring?" on the back...
Reel the circle. That's what your supposed to do during the middle portion. :) I grew up in Wisconsin and we actually learned the "chicken dance" as part of the square dance section of our gym class. The final part of the class was the entire school square dancing and doing a giant 3 circles inside each other for the chicken dance. :)
I work from home doing electronic filing- very boring job. I look forward to each and every episode because I know my day will be slightly less boring while listening to Billy and Dom! I was behind a few weeks, but now I'm all caught up and ready for tomorrow! Also- the Chicken Dance! When I was in elementary school (circa 1995) we had square dancing class as part of Gym (otherwise known as PE) and we danced to the chicken dance, among other great American classics like Turkey in the Straw. NOT funky!
Popping back in to mention that Five Alarm Funk’s “Wash Your Face” is so damn funky it’s become a favourite of mine. What a banger! It’s the kind of funky that makes you get out your air sax and start playing it 🎷🔥
Never really been a fan of marmite, but ive only ever tried it as a child. I think i'm going to give it another go thanks for the inspiration! Dom's cheese sandwich looked epic :P
18:33 I would have assumed she is named after Laurence Olivier. (I would think that is a casual throw-away joke, but for that I guess one would have to have read some particular books before and watched classical movies, and by extension somehow come across the name even without really knowing first-hand about him. Which would be even less likely. Except by Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart maybe namedropping him too. Or video recommendations of really old interviews. Okay. Think we have that covered.)
I´m rolling on the floor laughing about you two singing the Ententanz at the beginning! German here, and yes, we call it the Ententanz (ducks´ dance, which is just as well, because I came here straight from a Duck Tales episode 😂). Is it really a German thing? I thought so, but then I just thought it can´t be, because you two know it too! But then Dom was born here, wasn´t he, and lived in Germany through part of his childhood. Sadly I can´t help you out with what dance you do in between the wing flapping bits. I think you just trot around normally. More or less. I think you are even supposed to do the wing flapping bits in a sort of a squatting walk, as ducks would do. You need to bend your knees and then "waddle" around in this squatting position as you flap your wings, I mean, arms. I´m not drunk, this is how we did it at children´s birthday parties during the 80s 😂😂.
Question: there haven't been any new posts on TFO's Instagram lately - how come? Well, no worries - it doesn't take away from how awesome the episodes are! I LOVED that bit with the Chicken Dance Song, lmao!!
Ohh im so happy its tuesday my daughter just left for 5 days and ive got something to get my mind off being alone. Thank you. Billy just learned that song from the hobbit.
End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.. An endless road of Nutella sandwiches and sour sweets.
Maybe my favorite shot is in Fellowship when Gandalf is on the bridge facing the Balrog - that wide shot of the two of them to me sums up the lore of the show. Good vs evil, light vs dark. So iconic.
For anyone who hasn't tried it marmite works great as a drink. I make what I call marmite tea by dissolving a teaspoon of the stuff in hot water. Now I've thought of it I have to go and make one
Love Marmite. A little goes a long way, though, which is why I think some people don’t like it. Proper application is paramount. Pumpernickel toast with sharp cheddar for me. It goes well in a Bloody Mary, BTW.

I would watch a Billy and Dom cook the world show. Just billy and Dom cooking all sorts of food. I think that could be fun!
Marmite should sponsor Dom. The passion is real haha
This show is just perfect
The joy and feelings of "EEEE" when I see a new episode is unreal. Love you two incredible souls!!
LoL SAME!
I put a smile on my face at the beginning of this episode, their face is the best! 😃😃🤣❤
I know! 😍 Best opener ever!

Hooray! Back on track! Awesome episode!💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
I would like to visit Billyland. Sounds like a perfect place to go.
When we do the birdy song as you call it (we call it Ducks), in the second part of the song two people link arms and dance in a circle like that.
This show cheers me up so much. The sheer joy in the smiles on their faces when they see each other, pure love for their friend.

pure joy, thank you john dom and billy !

Ententanz!!! You interlock arms with someone and skip around at the interlude part 🦆💃

@@sophiebee25
I think ducks make more sense than chickens for the dance
Yeah we always just put our arms out like we were flying and slowly flapped around the room during that section lol
@@Rayne_Storms
I've seen people do that. I say that falls under "having fun with" promenading haha

German here: We normally do the link and spinning part :)
When I've done the chicken dance I've also seen people pretend to "fly around" like a chicken would. :)

Getting funky with Marmite made my day 🤣. Well done boys. Another great episode.
I think you guys are awesome. You always put a smile on my face and make me laugh. Thank you for that.
Eowyn singing at her brother's funeral gives me goosebumps in the Extended Two Towers. That and Sam's Speech at the end of the film.
Theodred's funeral? He's her cousin not brother.
@@lemon98TV Ah, yep. Eomer is her bro. Still, nice scene that. Shame it was cut.
I think people only listening to "friendship onion" as a podcast lose so much fun. It is hilarious to see Billy and Dom rive to the funky tune.
I would fail completely at every single riddle in the friendship onion. I would forget the riddle as soon John has finished reading the riddle to me 🤪

I'm Australian and I detest Vegemite. I wasn't a fan of Marmite either when I tried it in the UK. But this is making me want to try it again....
I might be wrong, but during the break part of the Chicken Dance, you sway and spin around with the chicken arms…?
It apparently varies wildly depending on where you're from. I've always known it as just a promenade during the B section.

I knew the whole dance for the song back when we’d do it at the roller rink 😆
