Seann William Scott (American Pie, Dude Where’s My Car?) joins us this week to share why his new film The Wrath of Becky was so fulfilling and how they were able to create a perfect blend of comedy and horror.
Really appreciate Seann getting open this week… He talked about some of his lowest points in life and why he‘a always maintained a sense of gratitude throughout his career.
Of course, we also talk about his opinion of Stifler in American Pie, his time on Old School with Will Ferrell, and why Christopher Walken continued to dog him on The Rundown.

SEANN WILLIAM SCOTT: Future of Stifler, Wrath of Becky, Lying His Way into Goon & Getting Help #insideofyou #seannwilliamscott #americanpie Развлечения
If Chris Pratt were NOT available then Sean could have been the ideal alternative to play as star lord
He kind of looks and sounds like him honestly. He's got the friendly goofball vibe
now that you mention it, holy shit...he would fit in perfectly.
I never thought of it before and when I just heard the possibility I was like ‘no way he’d be good in the role!’ But after a few seconds of thought I realised that yeah, in another universe, he would’ve probably made a great Starlord!
Chris pratt took his spot in hollyweird. All apart of the plan.
Gotta agree 100% with you man now I want to see him at least as a variant of starboard. good call bro 👍
The rundown was a *great* piece of entertainment. To this day I keep wishing they'd do a sequel. It's one of those premises that can go so many directions.
The way I see it, they've got two options. Option A) They make a sequel. Option B) I *make* them make a sequel. 🤨
Seann has incredible comedic timing, but his more dramatic roles show how great an actor he truly is... Just Before I Go is such an underrated film, and hes deserves more credit for it.
As I see, Sean has aged very well over the years and his Stifler's character never gets old. Congratulations for the podcast.
Seriously. He's turned into a handsome guy.
Hair dye , beard dye and Botox work wonders
Sean is the example of someone who's aged like a fine wine
Stifler is such a memorable character, but the scene in "American Wedding" where he puts dog poop in his mouth is one of the most hysterically funny scenes in comedy.
Yeah, that is burned into my memory as well! Extra funny with my wife dry retching when Stifler grins with it all through his teeth
@@ctakitimu LOL, thanks for sharing.
How is that even funny?
His dance Battle in the club though
What a surprise. Two of the nicest dudes in the business talking about life and work. Thanks very much for this production.
Evolution was one of my favorite movies growing up. Still criminally underrated!
Kah kah ... kah kah ... 😂
@@aaov Wayne, I think we've established that "Ca-Caw Ca-Caw" and "Tookie Tookie" don't work.
@@tomschwartz9853 Such a classic scene 😆
Such a good movie
Glad to know I'm not alone... have to watch this one every year.
For me stifflers dance off in American pie the wedding was one of the funniest thing I've ever seen in film 😂😂
him taking a crap in those guys cooler while drinking their beer in REUNION was hilarious... fell out of my chair at the theater
Goon is definitely one of my all time favorite hockey movies, Slapshot just barely edging it out (but more on nostalgia than anything). Plus I think Dude Where's my Car is such an under appreciated gem of a comedy. To this day, one of my friends and I still do 'Zoltan!' with the hand gesture every time we see each other.
Same, and whenever someone says hey guys, i go we are not guys, we are hot chicks
I do the Zoltan thing also sometimes.
Can't even say the name without doing it.
I'd been thinking for awhile that I should sit down with my friend who hasn't seen it one day and do a _Slap Shot_ / _Goon_ double feature, because I THOUGHT I hadn't seen _Slap Shot,_ and he hasn't seen _Goon._ Then...I randomly saw that I had already seen it, because I had given it a star rating on IMDB, must've been 10+ years ago and I'd just forgotten.
It was 6/10 haha. _Slap Shot_ has my respect for being a ground breaking hockey comedy, but I'm guessing when I give it one more try, it won't have such a strong central character or make me howl with laughter the way _Goon_ does.
@@jerodast Yeah I think part of Slap Shot's appeal is lost in time a little bit, which is why I saw it edges out Goon purely on a nostalgia level. I remember seeing it in the early 90s; a friend of my mom's who was a big hockey guy owned a copy and we watched it a bunch. Goon on the other hand has much better story and is way funnier, but you just can't beat nostalgia.
So glad Sean isn't a dick, got a lot of us through childhood, hope you keep making films regardless because the fans are here, and we love you guys.
Seann is such a joy to be around!! He’s literally a huge ray of sunshine in person. I was fortunate enough to meet him once upon a time during takes in American Pie Reunion ❤️ I just adore him!
He's such a humble person! Really nice guy!
@@mrx1333 oh, totally!
He seems like he would be cool to be around especially if he’s the stifmeister.
Seann William could easily play Plastic Man in the DCU
Good casting, could make that character really popular too
I've got say I felt really bad for SWS seeing his struggles to break away from the shadow of Stiffler. I guess its a testament to how well acted and written the character was. Absolutely love the American Pie movies, as I was the exact same age as the characters throughout, and I've come to appreciate them more and more over the years
Goon was an absolutely brilliant movie too, especially considering I know absolutely nothing about Hockey.
SWS is a really genuinely likeable guy and I'm sure he has many great performances still awaiting him.
Sean amazed the Hell out of me in 2018's "Bloodline". He's a stone cold killer in that movie. I grew up loving him in all 4 American Pie movies. This performance was unlike anything I'd seen from him before. 🖤👏👏
That was a really good movie! Scott did awesome with that character, so dark.
Remembering the first role I'd seen William outside of American Pie, it was Bulletproof Monk. I freaked me out as a kid to see Stifler being the cool marital art guy!
That could be the movie he couldn’t mention.
@@AntLong110 I suspect this too as I think I've heard this story before but... I've always liked this movie, lol. There are so much worse movies... I'd even prefer rewatching Bulletproof Monk than Interstellar, no joke :D
It was 1999 I was in rehab. Which I went to directly from being in jail for four months. Anyway, the first few days I was there. I remember it was a movie night so we all went to this large room and they literally had 30 chairs and a TV. The movie was American pie. I had never heard of it, nor had I ever seen a preview because of the fact that I had been in jail for so long. I loved that movie so much I still do and I will never forget it.
Would love to see the rundown 2 with the 2 of them reunited!
Dude, twice.
Same
Rosenbaum was in The Rundown?
@@clarkparker4860 was referring to seann talking about working with the rock, and that I wouldn’t mind a rundown sequel
The guest on Michael Rosembaum's podcast is always Michael Rosembaum.
Stifler's dance scene in American Wedding was one of my favorite scenes of all time!!! But The Rundown was definitely my favorite Seann William Scott character. Michael you should get together and do that movie with him.
This guy always made me laugh with perfect comedic timing. The Rundown is criminally underrated. He was brilliant in that movie.
I grew up in the same town as SWS, he actually went to school with my brothers dad. I used to pull out his senior yearbook and show everyone a young sophomore SWS at parties. My highschool gym teacher had a great story of how he told Seann he'd never make it as an actor and Seann's response was perfect. He came in with a signed headshot and slammed it on his desk and told him that would be worth something someday. He had that headshot framed and it was on his desk until the day he retired. He was so proud to be proven wrong.
Seann's scene with Will was the funniest in Old School and Seann was equally responsible.
I'm proud I decided to update my YT avatar last year haha.
Seann William Scott is one of those actors I feel is one role away from having a huge career resurgence.
Stifflerrrrr
Trust me he WILL have a comeback
from Dude Where's My Car to Goon.. SWS had a run of some really really good movies that had nothing to do with being Stifler. he did an amazing job of alienating himself from that character and not letting it define/pigeonhole him into a type.
As sad as it is, I think the character of stiffer did affect his career a fair bit, though its definitely to his credit that he was invovled with a good run of other movies regardless. Especially evolution, goon, dude wheres my car, and road trip.
Sean reminds me of a mix of Ryan Reynolds and Chris Pratt, and I mean that in the best way.
He was great in “Role Models” and “The Run Down”
❤ Bulletproof Monk ❤. Thank you for helping to normalize talk therapy. It's good stuff.
Seann played a serial killer in bloodline (film not series) and was phenomenal!
Speaking to the Chris Pratt comparison a lot of people have been floating his name for Booster Gold but I'd LOVE if SWS was cast as Booster. He's been under the radar slaying for years and needs something huge
Yess but before Guy Gardner got cast, Seann was my main fancast
Damn i never thought of that SWS as guy is a great pick
I will feel Goon is this generations slap shot. Great films. Funny but there huge heart in them
We often go on Sean William Scott movie binges in our house. Hes highly loved
SWS seems like a great guy. Always good to see him in movies. A middle-aged Stiffler is exactly what the world needs!
We definitely can’t get enough Sean is the best we need more movies from both of y’all
What a guest and what a great episode. The convo really hits off and so natural
Are there awards for these types of blogs or whatever? No bullshit, every single episode is fantastic. Love Michael's show, such a natural interviewer. So genuine.
SWS is very underrated actor.
Seann is soo underrated, for us who grow up with him, he meant alot! I think he could have pulled of being a sidekick to tom cruise in mission impossible or as Michael said, playing starlord! Hard facts, its easy getting typecast in hollywood.
He wass great as country Mac in it's always sunny. My favorite movie of his will always be The Rundown.
Seann such a nice guy!
Dude where's my car, Final Destination, American Pie and so on, some really nice childhood memories.
Great episode Michael!
Sorority Boys is one of the funniest movies i have ever seen. I am serious and i have watched tons of comedy movies. Michales performance in that was absolutely hilarious how commited he was to being a frat guy being so off and funny as a woman. The Commitment from the guys in that movie is so top notch.
One of my favorite movies.
@@alexanderluthor5670 He said on this episode that that is one of his movies he likes but others did not.
Sorority boys is hysterically funny - I HAVE A FAT ASSSSSSSS!
Ikr?! So underrated!!
The rundown is one of the greatest action film surprises ive ever had...walked out of the theater blown away and wanting sequels that never arrived. Shame...
Sean William Scott like me is a local actor from Minnesota near my hometown of Minneapolis-Saint Paul. It’s great to see a hometown celebrity that has made it in the movies. 🎬🦆
You should have surprised him by putting Jon Schneider on the phone. He HATED the Dukes movie.
Loved this. You guys are so down to earth and creative. One of my favorite podcast. Thank you Michael
Have loved Seann for years, this made my morning. God bless y'all both! Happy birthday Rosey!
SWS role in Jay and Silent Bob strikes back is legend. 5 min role made the film that much better
Loved him in Bulletproof Monk.
I'd like to see him do more action/drama work.
The Dukes of Hazzard movie literally lived in my dvd player growing up, excited to watch this one!
Was an awesome episode! Thanks so much to the both of you for sharing and Happy Birthday Michael!
For me the most underrated actor.
You know looking at him now and seeing him again, he honestly could have been star lord. I could actually see him playing the part.
I like Seann William Scott's movies. I was watched this interview anxiously waiting for some Christopher Walken and The Rock stories. Thought the stories of Walken subtly goofing on him were great - I can imagine him winking each time.
Sean is a gem. I admire his attitude of gratitude and have a feeling who would have had this approach regardless of the line if work he went into.
Wow this is a lovely honest chat between actors that open up about their insecurities, their egos and all the stuff that any of us think about but either don't say for fear of being judged or think its wrong because of the subjectivity element. Love your work Michael and always loved Smallville. It always takes me back to a wonderful period of happiness and freedom.
I met SWS when he was filming a movie in Austin, Tx. I could tell he was exhausted from work but he was friendly, chat with my cousin and I as well as let us take some pics. Really stand up guy from my experience. He was also taller than I expected hah
Happy birthday, Mr Rosenbaum and to many more!
I wanted Seann to play Guy Gardner in the DC movie universe so badly. He's perfect.
I thought I was the only one who thought about this! He would have been amazing.
One of my favorite movies he is in was Role Models. I love Paul Rudd as well as Sean so putting them together was gold for me.
I already knew Seann was a great person, but this interview just confirms it. Such a humble and sweet guy.
This week’s episode is highly enjoyable. Sean definitely opens up and has so many great stories. His Christopher Walken is my favorite one. Y’all should definitely do a project together. Happy Birthday Michael!!
I know I've watched too many episodes of this podcast now, when Rosenbaum interrupted with his "was it 'Flash'?" confusion and I knew exactly what he was talking about haha.
I LOVE Sorority Boys. When Michael's character storms in after being harassed and says "Mother's ass!!" I laughed so hard. I think about that line all the time. Harlan Williams was really great in that one, too.
Agreed
I love Sean William Scott. Nice to know he's such a nice guy too!
always thought Seann William Scott couldve played some type of superhero
I loved "Evolution." Still love it. Great movie.
So excited for this interview. Happy Birthday Michael!
So excited for this one!!! Thank you Michael ❤ Happy Birthday!!! Hope you have an amazing day ❤🎂🥳🎈🎉
Loved this interview Michael! Love both of y'all.
Love the podcast, you're doing great things!
Another great interview Baumcake!
Seann is awesome, Bulletproof Monk and Road Trip are seriously underated.
I don't typically watch nor listen to podcasts but because this has Seann WS, I had to watch it!! I'm a big fan of his since his Stifler days! I've seen most or all of his movies, but I can't wait to see Wrath Of Becky!!
Rosenbaum, much love to you! You did great on this interview and love Soriety Boys!! Badass Lex too! Thank you for show!
Southland Tales is underrated AF and home to The Rock's best performance.
I'm such a big fan of him. Plays so wholesome and fun. Thanks for sharing yourself with the world. 🎉
You interview everyone I always wanted to hear an interview with and you ask real questions. Bravo again
I’m a big Seann William Scott fan and just rewatched a bunch of his movies last month, very excited to see him interviewed. Great job, Rosy, he’s the best
I'm really hoping they make a Rundown sequel.
Only if you put Seann in blackface and call him "Kevin".
WOW he looks amazing, I grew up with American Pie, classic films.
One of my favorite actors coming up. Should get Matthew Lillard on!
Good call
fantastic! what a great interview! I love the bts stories!
This was a great talk and nice to see there are some actors that are still self aware.
Love SWS
He was in every movie ever made in the 90s and 2000s … I was wondering where he went … and here he is! So great
Absolutely amazing interview
I just rewatched the first Goon movie (still love it), so this episode showed up in my feed at the perfect time ^^ I love anything Seann does, he have done so many funny characters for my generation (90s kid)
Happy 7Eleven Birthday to us!!
AWESOME EPISODE!!
I appreciate you Micheal. Love the show, very therapeutic
Great episode as always. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL!!
Woah! Did not expect Sean on here. Excited to listen through this one.
Happy Birthday from Australia, Rosey!
Congrats on your birthday. Love the podcast. Best Lex Luthor to myself and many friends.
Loved the interview, Seann is such a likeable man and seems to undervalue his talent, I will definitely watch “The Wrath of Becky”. Thank you for such an entertaining and enjoyable episode and have a wonderful birthday🤗💖🎉
Amazing episode 💙🤘 And Happy Birthday Michael!!!🎂🎉🎊
Schreiber and Scott's moments on ice are some of the best "hockey" moments on film. -disclaimer: I've seen Kim Mitchell live five times.🇨🇦
The fact that he mentioned Evolution and Bulletproof Monk made me happy. They seem so underrated. ❤
One thing about Sean , is that he looks exactly the same and he is 46. Great guy
Seann if he shaved his face and dyed his hair blonde a bit would probably look very similar to Stiffler. But with the shaved head I think of Doug Glatt first.
@@joemckim1183 Fair enough
Great conversations and great guys!!
I love everything about this podcast. I love you as an actor. Sorority boys is one of my favorite movies. I love the guests you get. I can’t believe it took me this long to find this place. Thank you 🙏
Great watch!
amazing ep Rosey.
I WISH SEAN WASN'T SO HARD ON HIMSELF, HE'S ONE OF MY FAVORITE ACTORS! HE'S HILARIOUS IN EVERYTHING HE'S IN!
It’s so funny that Walken got Michael to call him Flash as I always thought Sean William Scott could’ve played the PERFECT… FLASH! I wish his career took off in bigger projects but man I’m so glad I can remember him as Stifler! Those movies mean so much to my childhood!
STIFFMEISTER!!! Yes!!!! Thanks as always Rosey and everyone!!!
