Hey, all - Your support has been amazing. Nothing like change to give you a motivational kick in the ass! Since this video was posted, I am happy to announce the "Ultimate Guide to Keeping A Journal" is now LIVE! Learn more: mybestjournal.clarkdanger.com/
This was never a ploy at sympathy or a poor me video - in fact, it was meant to do the opposite. The video was meant to inspire those of you who have been (or might currently be) in a similar situation.
My big take away? When life gets real, how do we handle it? It's easy to be positive and inspiring when everything in life is going well. But who we are when things aren't going to hot... that's the time we need to show up and test ourselves the most.
That's when we truly stop settling and start living!
    Again, thank you.
Please send in your story to clark@clarkdanger.com if you haven't already!
    -Clark

I lost my job back in 2010, just coudn`t anymore, got sick and went down with stress. Nobody can work 60-80 hours/week.
I´ve found why I worked that much: only for show. Who need a 5 bedroom appartment in Copenhage or 2 expensive cars?
After 14 days in hospital I went to a small place my scoolfriend own for a "Sillent Vacasion".
Then I did 2 ting that I´m proud of. 6 month in France as a goat header and then I sold all I owned ( not my clothes) and startet all over again.
I work 30 hours/week now with some I like now, have a small garden where I grow veggies and a few chickkens.
I feel free and a whole lot richer. money isn´t every thing, time is.

I lost my job at Hewlett-Packard back in 2013. I was making what I thought was good money for a single man with no kids. I'd been there for 3 years.
I had a year's worth of money saved up. I used that to just apply for any job I could think of that paid well. Police departments.... Tech companies.... I dated a lot to take my mind off things. I played a lot of call of duty too. 😄
It took 6 months but I got a call from Google. It took me 5 interviews and a hiring review board, but I got in. I worked there for two years then realized working 98 hours a week for Google wasn't going to be a sustainable process. I'd done it for two years, and I got burned out. Plus the commute was 90 minutes one way.
After that I ended up getting a job 10 minutes away from my home that paid well.
Life is like a roller coaster. Sometimes you have to deal with ups and downs and hold on no matter what.
I hope you're doing better. Good luck man.

    • @merlinpartlow2587

      BigD Travels
I left Google. I wanted to work closer to home. My dad is blind and he was sick at the time, so I made the choice to resign. My office is 10 mns away from my home. No commutte😉
Google's a great company, but family and work life balance is more important to me.

Think positively. Think Positively. Think Positively. Think Positively. You unknowingly helped me when I needed it the most so now maybe it's my payback stranger. I left my spouse when he hit me twice in the face and made me bleed and this is the person that I loved the most in life and I came into the United States with him and I had no family and friends here and I placed what I could on my backpack and walked out into the cold streets of New York City not knowing where was I going to sleep that night and around there I heard your blog and now I'm living in a very nice apartment in a good neighborhood and I have a good job and I live in peace. Thank you.

I believe in you man. Always have. You shpuld never lose your confidence. As you said, you do have a lot of potential. You just haven't fulfilled it yet. In the entrepreneurship world, you also need a little luck (which usually comes your way because you know the right people.) From my perspective, you have been really unlucky ith your projects so far. Don't let this stop you from working as hard as you always do, but keep on believing in yourself and you WILL SUCCEED. Love you brother.

My position was eliminated in December of 2014, right before Christmas. I spent 1 day totally stunned, then, the next day I made a list of things I had been wanting to do and hadn't had the time or, hadn't took the time. The first thing was to have a cup of coffee down by the water I lived by, first thing in the morning. Take some time to grieve and do little things and even bigger things that make your day brighter! It's in these moments where answers come, if we can just sit back, relax and receive. You are awesome! Keep it up! You are wise beyond your years!!!

This is a great opportunity for you to fully dive into what you have been doing on the side. Now you have no distractions. Keep it up and stay focused and most importantly be patient. I'm right there with you. School is draining me because all I want to do is fly but it seems so far away and I don't feel like I am actually moving towards that goal. I have to constantly remind myself about patience and that I have chosen to do something that will take almost 4 years to get to. It will be rewarding, keep it up and enjoy the days. If you look too far ahead it will just cause unnecessary stress and unhappiness. Patience. :)

Clark, I appreciate your openness and vulnerability. It honestly made me feel connected and less alone at this moment. I'm also in my mid twenties and have struggled with similar life situations. I completely agree with the "swim with it" sentiment. Two of the best things I've had to learn from experience: 1) to not force things (swimming upstream) to appease my ego or to fulfill some idea of who I am (this also limits your ability to see other opportunities), and 2) along the same lines, be open to seeing other possibilities and saying yes to them, as long as they mesh with your core values, it might not look exactly like you thought.... my own little rant, probably for me more than you ;)

Thanks bro! Got me thinking I am now in the same spot..I Agree 100% with the entrepreneur BS that surrounds us daily about what 'succes' is for a entrepreneur. You have to have a good stable financial basis that you can operate with for your personal growth, mental growth and serve the people around you. Ands it doesn't matter if you have to work on a payroll for some time or not, its the positive attitude, strong mindset and daily action towards ours goals that defines us. Thanks again for this great piece of content and keep uploading! Stay strong :)

I love that you shared this. Everyone goes through this in their life. Without ups and downs on your heart rate monitor, your dead bud. At age 20 I was diagnosed with a disease that would eventually take my body parts from me one at a time. At 45 I had to shudder my business because my disease took my legs from me. My wife left me because she did not sign up to take care of someone disabled and guess what? Because she did not work for 15 years, I owed her alimony. We all have shit, we all go through shit. I love what Rocky said in the movie "It's not how hard you hit, it's how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, that's how winning is done". Now I own a home based business more successful than the one I had, winning baby.

Do not be afraid to sell. It's how you do it with integrity that people notice. No pressure but also opening the door so that people can buy or contribute. Many ways but simplest is to ask people to contribute what they want, or don't, to you via pay-pal. It will probably be another quite minor income stream or you could be quite pleasantly surprised.
Everyone (I am coping with one now a messy legal issue before I can draw a pension which was due to start on the 4th July) have changes that sting and create uncertainty. Reflecting on my own experience working out the right thing to do takes a little while. The danger is then delaying necessary action for longer whilst you feel the universe slapped you. So immediately do little low effort things that may boost your income whilst starting to implement the solution you have now decided upon.

And you are doing most important things in life because of that experience.
This happened to me and i resonate with you.
However, everything happens for a reason in the universe. You learn, evolve and you must leave.

brutaly honest, love it. after watching lots of your newer stuff, this vid is amazing! watching this and other videos from back then I start to see your life and work as a whole. I can see the steps and phases you walked through, wich is so cool because these I can relate to. It seems to me, that rightn now I am somewhere in between this video and the "I can't believe I'm posting this..."-video. Need to figure out what exactly I want to commit to and then burn the ships after me in the next few years. Your channel has helped me so much, especially your more technical stuff on journaling etc. But these honest videos I appreciate the most. Much Love from Germany!

This is one of the most inspiring VDOs so far I've watched in life. You know what..it's freaking sincere and I think I have learned from you a lot in 17 mins to apply it for my dreaming goals to inspire people's passion through backpacking as I was depressed on how to execute all these which I've been doing it for a month now :)
Thank you very much "Clark" to give me such a huge encouragement Bro :)
    Being inspired from Thailand. !!

Hey man so something you said really stood out to me. You were talking about being 24 and not knowing what your doing in your life and about how the pressure is on. Well I can relate. I'm sure things have gotten better for you since this video as it's been awhile but I've been trying to switch careers (I previously owned a lawn treatment service) and have been trying to get a job as a web developer for the past year and it's hard. I have a wife and kids to support and while my wife works and makes good money it's completely draining me that I'm jobless and don't know which direction to go career wise. So I can definitely relate to some of your struggles. I hope things have gotten better! If you ever need a friend you can be real with and I can do the same I'd be down to talk anytime.

maybe all that experience can be put into a radio talk show job? 3 years is a good amount of time to put on a resume, maybe that job was a stepping stone. sending you some good vibes, I'm sure you'll land on your feet, be open to change, there's so much life to explore😃

Man 2nd video and your speaking right to me! I was just forced to resign my position in sales. I am a small Jiu Jitsu gym owner of about 40 students but it's only part time. I've been doing it every night for 3 years... while working 40 hours a week in sales. I've always wanted to take the big jump and go full time gym owner but the fear...
I'm a husband and father of 4. Now I am forced to make the gym my full time. I'm scared like you talked about but then again... maybe this is the opening I needed to make myself push harder. Thank you for being real! This video helped!

I remember you taught me that not all people have a job. Back then, I didn't know that. Imagine, I had spent all my life working since I was a kid.
It seems there's always something we can do, even though we don't know!! As life goes on, things happen.
I am sorry, you are sad because you lost your job, but am so happy I got a friend

What a powerful video you truly killed it on this clip to think that you are only 24. I wish I had a crystal ball to be able to see how you have progressed 10 years from now I can visualize a best selling inspirational book of your journey and success on the New York's times bestseller list. There is only one direction for you to go bro and that's up.

Ufff I have my own share of this experience. It sucks like hell. Ive gone through so many hardships and rejections but the only thing I have always clinged on is that, there will always be something better in store for me. That thigs like this are meant to happen for a reason. This video is so honest and inspirational.
