If you read only one book that will have the biggest impact on your relationships, it’s this one! Gary Chapman’s amazing relationship book has influenced millions of couples worldwide for decades. You might also consider getting the full book for this - it’s killer!
Special note: This book is not just for intimate relationships. The book works great for every relationship you have (co-workers/family/strangers/sales / etc).
Here are the best 10 ideas from “The Five Love Languages” by Gary Chapman.
    ★★★ BIG 10 IDEAS ★★★
    (2:15) EMOTIONAL LOVE TANK
Metaphor like our car has a gas tank, our love life has a love tank.
keep this tank full. If we neglect our love tank, we’ll start to get bigger problems.
we need love… stats show we’re not too good at it:
40% of marriages in USA divorce
    60% of second
    75% of third
What’s happening? Where do we go wrong?
    (3:45) DON’T BE IN LOVE
Falling in love is the opposite of what we should strive for. That honeymoon style chick flick/notebook rain make out scene.
(8:00) LANGUAGES OF LOVE (LEARN THEM)
    Quality Time
    Words of Affirmation
    Physical Touch
    Gifts
    Acts of Service
In order for the other person to feel loved, we must understand and speak their love language to them. Otherwise we might as well be speaking in Chinese when they understand English.
    (10:00) QUALITY TIME
This language is all about giving the other person your undivided attention. Most “typical” love language.
    HOW TO & TIPS:
Intentional date night - schedule it in!
    Avoid routines. Relationship killer.
    Table topics: amzn.to/28LAlse
    (12:45) WORDS OF AFFIRMATION
This love languages uses words to affirm other people. Not just words - but deeper reasons behind them. Give them the “WHY” “I love you” vs. “I love you because…..” or “Great job with that project” vs. “Great job with that project - you put a lot of time in it shows”
    HOW TO & TIPS:
Focus on giving one killer compliment x a day.
Compliment in presence of peers / brag about them in front of people.
No longer “Thank you” it’s “Thank you for….”
    (15:15) GIFTS
Not materialistic. Not diamonds everyday. Gifts can be cards, can be flower, can be favorite soda from Trader Joes.
    HOW TO & TIPS:
    Remember important dates.
Focus on thoughtful ness behind gift.
Keep log in your phone if she mentions something she likes - order it in bulk one day, disperse over time.
    (18:00) ACTS OF SERVICE
For these people, actions speak louder than words. My dad: Would do my laundry and clean my room. Wash my car. This was his love language.
    HOW TO & TIPS:
Don’t be lazy - pisses this person off like no other.
Cook them dinner. Do their Laundry. Make the bed. Clean their space / room / desk / etc.
    Volunteer to help out more.
    (19:30) PHYSICAL TOUCH
To this person, nothing speaks more deeply than appropriate touch (not bedroom only).
Hand holding / hugs / PDA / etc.

So true about the gifts. My love language is gifts and I don't need expensive things, I just prefer to receive love in a distant way like that and it shows me that you do care when you take the time and money (sometimes) to give me something that made you think of me or that you thought I would like

Awesome, thank you for making this. For all of these. It's a good refresher since I've already read the book, and I can see how it would be a good primer for books I haven't read yet.
If I remember right, my top 2 love languages are words of affirmation and physical touch. I appreciate how you gave practical examples for each.

Great video! Good choice of book as well. One thing that I don't think you quite covered was that people may speak and hear totally different love languages. For example you mentioned that your father spoke with acts of service, but maybe he responded (heard love) through quality time or physical touch. In other words, just because someone speaks a certain love language it doesn't necessarily mean that it is the love language they are most receptive to. Keep on keeping on brother!

Great review with some really great examples. I just ordered Table Topics because I suspect that quality time is one of my boyfriend’s top two languages. This was really helpful. I also loved the example of the friend with the gifts on standby. That’s a clever friend! I’m currently reading the book but wanted to hear others’ thoughts on it and this was such a great video.

Not sure if you've heard of Richard Rohr, but he led me to checking out the Enneagram. I won't say much more than that, only I believe you'd find it highly enjoyable.
Enneagram, Strength Finders 2.0 and Love Languages in that order have greatly benefited my life (along with going to school for psychology).

HUGE fan of this book! Def not a book manly guys would pick up, but I was like you, once I picked it up I thought it was genius. Gary Chapman went a little crazy after the success of this book and it it like 20 other 5 languages books. Def not reading those; no disrespect to Gary but I feel like I got his best and I'm cool. Lol, you checking out the others?

I Have a Relationship question for anyone who want to give advice.
    I know a guy , that has A Girlfriend of 5 years , basically wife , they have 3 young children under 5 ,
They have a problem, that they cant seen t solve related to sex, the Guy wants sex at least once a week , the girl wants it once a month, and niether will budge , the guy says without it he is unhappy, and doesn't feel close to the girl, like hanging around a friend.
The girl says i just cant do it when im not in the mood , this problem has been Discussed in 500 ways 500 times.
It is effecting every part of the relationship, Both claim to be attracted to each other , get along well other than this problem and are both loving parents, the guys considers ending the relationship over this because he is Genuinely unhappy with once a month. And after all the talks now thinks this will never change, The only reason he hasnt ended it is because he loves the kids and doesn't want to not live with them.
He hasnt cheated or tried to meet anyone else.
