When flying helicopters, something I found to make flying them much easier was the “enable manual roll mode” or something like that. Instead of it righting your roll to horizontal all the time, it’s almost like ARMA and keeps your roll to whatever you put it to. If you’ve noticed that certain helicopters can’t fly straight, this is going to fix that. Plus, when you activate manual roll, it stays active through multiple battles, but not when you restart the game.
I played around with that, and it felt like it would be a better option if I had a more traditional HOTAS+Pedals style input setup. Personal preference I guess.

I've found the spikes to be 100% flare resistant. If they notice the flares at all, it's for a split second, and then they reacquire the target. This doesn't help for any jets that aren't flying in a straight line (anything outside of PvE, basically), but the only way helis can avoid it is moving over 8km from the launch point or performing a maneuver with perfect timing, which is difficult. MAWS don't detect FnF missiles until the final ~500m of flight, so they get all of a second or two to defeat the missile properly. The launch range of Spike MRs and LR2s isn't itemized, but it must be fairly low, because I've never had the ground-launched spikes hit at any appreciable range, and if a heli is very close, it's usually making erratic movement and breaking line of sight constantly. On the other hand, the QN502CDD FnF missile _does_ have a clear launch range of 8km, and this makes it extremely lethal to helicopters, even those with FnF missiles of their own.

Oh yes, i saw what you did Tim, 😉 Forgot to mention, for heli PVE mode you CAN use boosters, so it can help a bit in regards to RP gains... usually stack up the boosters for this as its easier than being instantly annihilated upon activating them in regular battes as if they bring you bad luck.
@rickdubbink best do as much as you can then, ive been able to get near ~400k SL and near 40-45k RP by stacking and staying for about 1hr - 1hr 30min... Not for everyone but it is a suggestion.
@@vaultraider1 jees that's not too bad actually. I just know the boosters work for 30 min and with the helo's i've grinded in PVE I'd never get a whole lot of work done in those first 30 minutes so I prefer to not use them there
@@rickdubbink If the booster would last for multiple missions it will last for 30 minutes per mission. So a 75% for 3 missions will last up to 1 hour and 30 minutes and if the match ends before the 1 hour mark you will retain one mission on that booster.

I hope you find the time to make an extensive tutorial video on Helicopters in the future, all the vids out there are kinda outdated or do not explain everything - especially with the now amount of available helicopters. Also the keybinds are usually hard to understand if you have 0 experience with helis.
Love your content, in a resent update fire and forget missiles does not need to go senter of mass, they can aim for tracs and so on but there is no way to controll were thy hit

Fun Fact. Germany is going to replace the Tiger Heli because one of its biggest flaws is that the Cockpits "armor" is non exsitend since its made out of carbon fiber. So if the pilot is unlucky enough a a hit from a rifle could completly f*ck up the electronics and make it unuseable lol.

I havent decided yet how I'm going to do the Apache family - one larger review, or smaller ones for individual models spread out over a longer period of time.

I spent an entire year to grind this just to find out how useless it is. The PARS rockets are stupid slow, by the time they hit anything the tank is either dead or behind cover. I only hit maybe 1/8 targets with them. And the HOT-3s you have to get way too damn close to be in range to hit anything, you'll get shot down within seconds.
The spikes are absolutely impossible to flare off since they use a contrast seeker with the target stored in it. Not once has a Ka-52/Mi-28/Ka-50 survived one of those the times i've been playing it. You also didnt bind manual roll which alleviates the "stable flight" syndrome you talked about. There is also zero reason to take the stinger over the mistral. not one. Mistral is just straight up better and even making it seem like there is a choice is imo wrong. Good video overall and since your format is called a basic review there is nothing more to do than to give a like.

why tf is this the same BR as the german tiger uht, literally has better a-a missiles (mistrals instead of stingers), better atgm (8km range instead of 7km on pars), 30mm gun (tiger uht gets NO gun) yea sounds like the same br to me gaijin
Thats pretty typical, its a matter of "impressions" - youtube shows my WT stuff to people on their "what to watch next" dashboards and stuff far more often as this channel gets more views to begin with, has more subs, is older, etc etc.

grinding for helicopters are such a pain but i think it was quite worth it, the HAD is great to fly

Recommend turning off MAWS flares. You loose 80% of countermeasures by a missile that isnt even targeted at you. Plus, you look like a Heli noob ;)
Yeah I spoke about MAWS in my review of the F-111A - the thing loves to dump all your flares for no obvious reason.
