Well, they said they updated missiles flight model to be more realistic, so it makes sense an ATGM that can make a 90 degree pivot out of the launch tub would be more maneuverable than others (as some one else noted they use thrust vectoring.) Personally I find it funny that when they made that change basically all ATGMs got way harder to control except the swingfire, which actually got a lot better (you can now hit targets within 50m where as before it was more like a 150m to 200m minimum) almost like Gaijin just admitted they were giving British ATMGs worse flight models just because. After Javelin was designed, TOW was upgraded to Radio-Controlled rather than guide by wire, in a attempt to keep TOW relevant on the battlefield.
The sight distance control also works for the QN906. elevating the launcher means its more likely to see people behind cover and Ive had pretty good success with it
Play the Object 685, it’s a light tank so it will be perfect for you, has a very nice APHE round, dart round for more armored targets, and sits pretty good right at 8.7. My boy doesn’t get enough love
one of the recent updates buffed the swingfire missile's initial turn and made it so much more usable, i used to have a minimum distance of like 300m in both this and the striker. the missile's name is literally because of the high-g turns it makes upon leaving the tube and it couldnt do it properly
Yep. The swingfire's incredible agility comes from thrust vectoring. I'm very glad they buffed it, because I've been complaining about it's atrocious minimum range for a while.
The swingfire is surprisingly good, just a shame it's not MCLOS (like IRL) with a SACLOS upgrade. I am fairly certain the sight periscope should have significantly more depression, but snail doesn't care about anything british enough to google simple stats. Another niche tank with surprisingly solid performance is the CA Lorraine, really want to see it played.
No-one else in NATO can put up with operating carriers in the north sea Who's going to fight the rainy country renown for their navy in the rainy ocean
Hey Spookston, could the next British vehicle you play be the Conqueror heavy tank? It’s round has almost 500 mm of penetration, it is pretty fast for its size, and it has a really well armored turret AND a full stabilizer all at 7.7. It’s one of my favorite tanks in the game. Day 5
@@thelonecookie3592 not really a huge difference, I just play it as a sniper and when someone tries to shoot me I wiggle my mantlet since that is a weak spot, but the turret cheeks are basically invincible. Just make sure you get the add on armor ASAP, it makes heat rounds much harder to kill you. In fact, I don’t recall a time I’ve ever been one hit by another tank in it, it is very survivable. But make sure you don’t expose your hull too much since it isn’t super strong and the sides aren’t great either. It is great at peek-a-boo sniping since it is fully stabilized
@@thelonecookie3592I just unlocked it, excited to try out what everyone talks so highly of… it sucks lol. More shells shattered than the 105mm or 84mm. Slow reload. Slow movement. Gets one-shot from pretty much any Russian vehicle at that BR. I can go 4-6 kills and no deaths in the Vickers Mk1, but I rarely get a single kill in the conquerer. Hoping it gets better as I spade it
@@DominicDarrell I had the exact same experience when I first got it, I just learned to use it more like a sniper than a heavy tank since it isn’t good as the latter. The 20 second reload hurts but is manageable as long as you k of where ammo is on the tanks you kill. Generally ammo is either to the side of the driver or on the floor of the hull below the turret. You can also try using HESH but that’s only really good against light vehicles
@@DominicDarrell This is a skill issue, its not an amazing tank, but it can be played very effectively, last match I got 9 kills 0 deaths in the Conqueror, plenty of bounces. If you know anything about the vehicles design and history you would know how to deploy it and it is effective when deployed correctly. OddBawz played it lately and he likes it quite a lot, Phly played it, got plenty of kills but said it is mid and I dont disagree, fact is though that you can definitely rack up kills and also bounce shots so long as you are in a good position and facing targets that you are comfortable facing. The Conqueror is one of the most HEAT resistant Heavy Tanks in the game with its spaced armor and very thick strongpoints, HEAT is forced to target crew one by one and/or get lost in the overlapping breach area. The APDS should be doing more damage than it is, the Chieftains round which is slightly heavier and also slower seems to have a much girthier damage profile which the Conqueror should be getting too with its more brittle sabot material, resulting in post penetration shattering which really should be deadly to crew inside a vehicle.
I did find the Striker that also uses Swingfires quite fun to play at times with its thermal sight, although due to the proliferation of better thermals around its battle rating it's not as fun anymore. it's worth mentioning that the sight placement on Striker is worse than on Swingfire, but the thermal sight can somewhat compensate for that.
I'd consider the Type 60 ATM worse than this. Fun fact, I've actually driven the base vehicle for this, the FV432. Also you should try the Japanese STA1/2/3/Type 61 (they're all kinda the same), decent mobility, good gun and great sight magnification makes them pretty fun to play.
Honestly I i feel like the swingfire got significantly easier to use after the ATGM changes, Since the missile requires significant direction change after launched, it used to not be able to defend against close targets. But after the changes, the engagement range of the missiles got significantly more responsive and easier to close fire
Fun fact, the sight control thing has been patched out for all vehicles that have only atgms. It still works for vehicles that have normal munitions though.
Hey Spook, you should play the Semovente 75/46 M43. It's a deeply overshadowed italian tank destroyer which can deliver an heavy punch but it's deeply ignored the potential it has. I am not gonna surrender in proposing this. (Day 59)
Swingfire also used to have "feature" when re-munitioning was faster than reloading, so if you managed to stay at cap you got increased fire rate. You could quite go "artillery mode" this way }:3
It still does doesn't it? Unless it's been removed in the past couple weeks, I had a game where I just shat about 40 missiles at an object 268 while sat on the cap
Here is a funny challange for Spookston and Oddbawz: Player 1: takes the wiesel 1A4 Player 2: goes in the 15cm sIG 33 B Sfl Gameplay: Player 1 scouts, and tells the distance with its laser range finder to Player 2, and Player 2 can snipe.👍 Note: the Wiesel 1A4 now has gen 3 thermals for some reason 💀💀.
Day 71 😢 of asking for the Canadian QF.7 RAM tank destroyer if you didn’t like the archer this might be a step up (basically a smaller VFW) I know you’ve seen this spookston you have no choice :)
I've only used the swedish missile carriers but out of those 3 I really like the pbv 302. The two first were just a hassle and not fun to play but the top attack of the Pbv 302 makes it very fun imo. It kinda feels busted slinging a rocket over cover and killing the tank behind it but also so satisfying.
This thing actually got a huge shadow buff. The missles used to shoot out the launcher into the sky before coming down, this made close range impossible. They removed this in last update
Was wondering if you could play the Shturm S. It has proxy fused missiles for anti air, fairly good controllable missiles and gen 2 thermals at 8.3. Peace.
Hey Spookston, have you considered playing a whole line-up instead of one vehicle? Like, playing Britain 7.3 instead of just the Swingfire. That way you have more options depending on the map. Could add more variety
The only thing that should be cresting a hill is your little periscope, which allows you to guide missiles without having to expose any of the vehicle, this should make it one of the best ATGM carriers in the game, and its successor, the Striker CVR(T) combines that with being based on the fastest production tank ever made. Unfortunately gaijin has a habit of modelling British vehicles, badly to say the least. You just have to look at the performance of the Chieftain's shell for an example
2:15 looks like that new-ish bug where mantlets, turret ring overhangs etc. can reach incredible levels of protection. Is it volumetric again? Nobody knows. A quick look at the IS-6 vs. this missile has that spot go up to 1600mm of protection.. so yeah
Worth keeping in mind that this is a typical example of an esoteric British vehicle that cant be properly modelled / used properly in a video game like warthunder. IRL, the Gunner sight can be detached and moved up to 100 metres from the vehicle, so you could park this thing behind a hill (or even sideways in an alleyway) and fire missiles over it at incoming soviet tanks.
It is never boring watching your videos amigo. Also the amount of kick assery you do is actually inspiring me to continue the grind. Would you likely do a video on the Russian T-90A ? I thought it would be appropriate given what’a happening in our world.
2:43 Muffled audio from tank crewman gags is a favorite of mine in War Thunder edits. I’m surprised I haven’t heard Downfall’s Hitler in WT edits until now.
I love the Swingfire, both missile and carrier. Missiles that make sharp turns after emerging from the launcher are great, similar to VLS-launched SAMs
Speaking of the ATGM nerf, the Type-89’s missile will now dip and swing so close to the ground upon launch that it’s virtually impossible to make any close-mid range hits
I've been leveling this fker for weeks now. It's actually not a bad vehicle and it has certain very handy advantages (like shooting from behind the cover) but it's very limited and map dependent. I would say the worse flaw is minimal range. Sometimes you can mitigate it to some degree by aiming way under.
the patch that nerfed almost all atgms made the swingfires even more manouverable, up to the point where you can hit things 40m infront of you. before it you struggled with targets 200m away
my granddad worked on the guidance for this! specifically, the ir remote guidance system - he was telling me about how they 'somehow' (with a wink) got their hands on a t-72, when they proceeded to play around with heat signatures and penetration angles. My grandma remembers him getting out of bed at pigeon fart incredibly excited. He has an apfsds round just casually on their mantlepiece!!
I love the Swingfire. Amazing for shooting over your cover and getting cheeky ATGM kills across long distances while being concealed. The latter part of the video showcases this quite well.

After Javelin was designed, TOW was upgraded to Radio-Controlled rather than guide by wire, in a attempt to keep TOW relevant on the battlefield.
it can still do that, just change the rangefinder, to be on the target, i did it like 1 month ago
The sight distance control also works for the QN906. elevating the launcher means its more likely to see people behind cover and Ive had pretty good success with it
How does this work? I am a bit lost on what he means by using sight distance control
@@xmasterchini6the range on the crosshairs if you increase that it elevates guns and launcher.
Next up: Britain Makes Worst Light Ta...oh wait there's still no light tank line after 8 years.
Vickers vfm:
Dingo, Saladin, Ferret, Fox armoured cars
"No one is dumb enough to go through this route"
Bro forgot he was playing against Germany
The swingfire is surprisingly good, just a shame it's not MCLOS (like IRL) with a SACLOS upgrade. I am fairly certain the sight periscope should have significantly more depression, but snail doesn't care about anything british enough to google simple stats. Another niche tank with surprisingly solid performance is the CA Lorraine, really want to see it played.
The Canaervon being unbothered is the only reason I play it. Everyone thinks you have no armor but you actually have quite a bit
He pronounces it weird lol. Like Cuh-nar-vun instead of cair-ner-von
@@jspenethat's how it's pronounced though?
3:18 the decision to use a dodgeball sound effect for the atgm was hilarious
Britain making the worst things imaginable and getting asked to leave NATO again is truly the sequal we all needed.
the snap cut from the muzzle flash at 8:25 is an underrated joke
Britain has apparently been asked to leave NATO so many times now. Why do they keep getting let back in?
they keep sneaking in the back door

Hey Spookston, could the next British vehicle you play be the Conqueror heavy tank? It’s round has almost 500 mm of penetration, it is pretty fast for its size, and it has a really well armored turret AND a full stabilizer all at 7.7. It’s one of my favorite tanks in the game.
Day 5
Is it only good when Aced? I keep getting uptiered and it just doesn't compare to a lot of other heavies of the same BR
“Oh god”
/Cuts away from death/
“At least i got out that match fast”
That line and the cut away got me dying 😂
I did find the Striker that also uses Swingfires quite fun to play at times with its thermal sight, although due to the proliferation of better thermals around its battle rating it's not as fun anymore. it's worth mentioning that the sight placement on Striker is worse than on Swingfire, but the thermal sight can somewhat compensate for that.
Wait am I dumb as hell? I always assumed the M1126 Stryker used TOW rockets 😭
Spookston: this tank is bad
: proceeds to get 10 kills in the tank
I'd consider the Type 60 ATM worse than this. Fun fact, I've actually driven the base vehicle for this, the FV432.
Also you should try the Japanese STA1/2/3/Type 61 (they're all kinda the same), decent mobility, good gun and great sight magnification makes them pretty fun to play.
Spookston is canonically the father of those missles now. He is such a good father he encourages them 🙂. Great job Spookie.
Hello Spookston!
I love your videos and you really helped me getting better at WT.
I wanted to ask you If you could try the T-34 1942!
Thank you :D
Honestly I i feel like the swingfire got significantly easier to use after the ATGM changes,
Since the missile requires significant direction change after launched, it used to not be able to defend against close targets. But after the changes, the engagement range of the missiles got significantly more responsive and easier to close fire
I would like to recommend the T-26E1-1, it’s a really strong tank when you have a good team, only problem is that the teams aren’t always good.
Here is a funny challange for Spookston and Oddbawz:
Player 1: takes the wiesel 1A4
Player 2: goes in the 15cm sIG 33 B Sfl
Gameplay: Player 1 scouts, and tells the distance with its laser range finder to Player 2, and Player 2 can snipe.👍
Note: the Wiesel 1A4 now has gen 3 thermals for some reason 💀💀.
Tip use binoculars to aim at someone with the atgm if you can’t see them with your gun sights
Day 71 😢 of asking for the Canadian QF.7 RAM tank destroyer if you didn’t like the archer this might be a step up (basically a smaller VFW) I know you’ve seen this spookston you have no choice :)
“Gaijin can we have spikes?”
“We have spikes at home”
Spikes at home:
you should try the type 87 anti air. It is basically a Geoard with a faster gun and a amazing too speed.
Spookston: worried about gun depression
Also Spookston: mentions it has a high fire arch (commander optics left the game)
Peace.
Anytime someone asks you to play a British vehicle, they are just asking you to feel their suffering.
“Spookston after discovering how to adjust the sights”
Spookston: This is big brain time
That muffled Hitler rage from the Leopard at 2:40 had me in tears 🤣🤣🤣
Anything british: *exists*
Spookston: And I took that personally
6:42 the nostalgic 'grunt birthday party' sound effect gave me a smile :)
This is pure spookston 200IQ move, he makes an IS6 broken video, makes everybody take out their IS6s and destroys them with ATGM missiles
Great Britain: We invented Tanks!
Also Great Britain: The Swingfire ATGM
Swingfire is a great atgm though
The way my brain lit up hearing the Grunt Birthday Party sound effect, oh my god I am beyond help
I honestly love this series of '(country) makes worst (vehicle), asked to leave NATO'
2:33 let's talk about the enemy casually passing by
I really love that in every single video there is at least one Halo referene
I really like it how the music sounds quiter than usual, it's much less distracting this way
2:15 looks like that new-ish bug where mantlets, turret ring overhangs etc. can reach incredible levels of protection. Is it volumetric again? Nobody knows.
A quick look at the IS-6 vs. this missile has that spot go up to 1600mm of protection.. so yeah
You not gonna mention how the guy who has a vendetta against you in one game ends up being your squad mate in the next
Spookston playing british vehicles makes the funniest content
I lost it when the Leopard 1 started screaming and shooting the MG at you bro LMAO
It is never boring watching your videos amigo. Also the amount of kick assery you do is actually inspiring me to continue the grind.
Would you likely do a video on the Russian T-90A ? I thought it would be appropriate given what’a happening in our world.
Thank you for having a timestamp for when the video actually starts (after the sponsorship).
Angry Downfall bunker man when you stole the kill made me choke on my drink
Cutting immediately to the loading screen when the turm fired is peak comedy
2:43 Muffled audio from tank crewman gags is a favorite of mine in War Thunder edits. I’m surprised I haven’t heard Downfall’s Hitler in WT edits until now.
The Japanese Type 60 atm is pretty upset you gave away its title!
2:52 I like saying thanks when I steal a kill just to anger my teammate
I love you for adding my favorite ed edd n eddy sound effect 13:41
This is why I hate gaijin because the swing fire and that assortment of vehicles were really promising irl
my granddad worked on the guidance for this! specifically, the ir remote guidance system - he was telling me about how they 'somehow' (with a wink) got their hands on a t-72, when they proceeded to play around with heat signatures and penetration angles. My grandma remembers him getting out of bed at pigeon fart incredibly excited. He has an apfsds round just casually on their mantlepiece!!
I’ve been maining Britain latley at the pain expresses in this video definitely hit the nail on the head. Another great one spook
Fun fact you can scroll your mouse wheel to make the camera for your atgm go down lower
4:09: I can't get over that sound effect.
i want a list of spookston sound effects. love em.
i like how he plays the tank named SWINGfire and he doesnt swing his vehicle to fire
13:40 The sound effects and the fart noise made me laugh too hard.
I highly recommend the Tank Museum's video on this thing, very cool to see how it actually worked IRL
1:56 lmao that's funny, cause it's the exact opposite for me. I never play by the cliffs/water.

i have to say i really love the sound fxs you add when you kill something, makes it feel so mcuh more satesfying.
6:23 you are behind the hill, but some shells can go through small pieces of ground.

"Go on missile, *GO ON* "
daaaamn you were in a good mood both playing and editing huh? super funny thank you very much!!
2:15 staliniom protects

British vehicles sure are interesting, would you perhaps cover the ww2 challenger, the tiger's worst nightmare?
The edits and memes are so good i died💀.

I love the Swingfire. Amazing for shooting over your cover and getting cheeky ATGM kills across long distances while being concealed. The latter part of the video showcases this quite well.
