Amazing review. Fairly new to cycling. I got me a giant propel advanced sl 1 with a sram force groupset and I'm loving it!! Can't believe I could get my hands on such a good quality bike and pay half as much for the performance af other top bike brands. This bike is such a good all rounder.
Thanks! Sounds like you have picked the perfect bike, and I totally agree, you don’t need to spend your whole bank on a bike that performs just as well!
I have SLR 1 wheels on my TCR and find the bearings wear out way to easy. Back wheel in particular needs bearings done twice a year. The TCR is my second bike and gets minimal riding. Have cadex on my propel,no issues with them.
not too sure what could be causing that. could be something to do with the type of cleaning products used, the weather the wheels are used in and how you clean the bike.I tend to take the free hub off to get to the bearings and clean out the grit and dirty grease that gets worse over time. finally I apply fresh grease to prevent water getting into the bearings easily. this helps keep the bearings last longer as there is less dirt potentially entering the seal of the bearings themselves. Hope this helps.
Great review. I'm considering a propel advanced pro 0 v canyon aeroad slx di2, the giant is considerably cheaper here in Australia for basically the same specs...
Yes, both bikes are great, the giant is a better allrounder but canyon will be faster on the flat. Both bikes will be brilliant! Which ever bike you choose, you will not regret it! Enjoy :-)
Had same bike and model, bought in end of 2023. The only thing Im not happy with, is how thin and delicate the paint is. Was able to scratch the bottom bracket just by removing the chain and touching the frame, second time when removing protective tape, it came off with the clear coat. Had small 1mm chip in the sit post tube. My 2021 TCR had better paint quality. In regards of rid quality is really good, surprisingly better than TCR. Is also bit faster, I improved all my strava records.
the propel is a great bike. I have a factor ostro as well and idk what it is but the propel is such a more smoother ride. Might be the different group sets (sram force on ostro, ultegra on propel) but switching gears and ride quality is a lot better on the prople, but factor looks prettier.
Thanks! I have never experienced an aeroad but from what I know, both bikes are fantastic. obviously the propel is a bit of a better allrounder, and the aeroad will be slightly faster on the flat. either one you decide to go for will be a choice you will not regret!
Love this bike and thank you for the great review! The only thing that's holding me back are the hookless rims... Reading some nasty stuff about them. What is your experience on them so far?
thanks, and yes its a bit of a different design and hard to trust for some, I have had 0 issues despite hitting a pothole which blew a hole in the sidewall. tyre stayed on. hope this helps.
Great bike. I was in and out of the Giant store recently and was very close to buying this exact model. However, I went with a second hand 2022 Propel SL0 instead for a little bit cheaper than a new Pro 0. Main reason being I have an old TCR SL0 and the feeling of the SL frame has broken me. Any other bike I ride feels like it's made of wood compared to the SL frame. As you said you love your bike and I absolutely adore my SL 😅, and I think that's the most important thing. Would highly recommend the SL though to anyone else 🤪
haha nice choice! would defo get the sl any day but I need a little bit more money before that happens! the new 2025 paint job looks incredible for the pro 0 tho.
its preference, if you are fit, a 30t is more than enough and will never be an issue in races (uk) a 32 would be a good choice if you are a beginner or riding very long and steep climbs.
Yes, not had any major issues so far. Super easy wireless charging (insanely fast charging) the only thing I am a bit disappointed about is that if your chain drops on the inside of the chain set, it will scuff the power meter and has actually damaged the grooves that the charger ports sit in to secure it in place. Still charges fine but something that I might need to do maintenance on later. DM me on insta and I’ll send you a photo. Overall it’s very good 👍
Good review. How much do you weigh, anyway? Those tires IMO are good on high speed corners, much like my Pirelli P Zero Race TLR. Saddle is very individual. I swapped it with Repente Prime and significantly more comfy. Keep up the good work, lad 👌
Thanks mate, 76kg so 70psi is pretty much the limit unless I am doing crits. Yeah tyres are pretty decent. Yes, defo going to swap the saddle soon, not too sure what to get without spending too much. Means a lot 👍
totally understand, I have kept to the codex tyres although the rear tyre has worn out really fast compared to the front. I ride at 65-70psi which works for me. it would take an awful lot of unplanned force to shift the tyre over the rim. it is quite a bit deeper than you may think.
So the propel is a much better all round bike. The madone is a really good fast bike but it does feel a bit heavy. Not much but may be annoying if racing on very hilly courses. It is very comfy to ride due to the iso speed (if going with the older gen)
I like the look of the Scott Foil more, but for that price, they're basically offering a brick. So, the Giant is really great in terms of price and what we get for it.
Yes, it is a lovely bike, I change my opinion on the look from time to time. I think maybe a better paint colour would be better (something more obvious) but yes the price of the giant for what you get can’t be beaten really!!
so the sl carbon is layered differently, I think they use less pieces of carbon. This makes the sl lighter than the propel and despite it being lighter, it is stiffer meaning more power is being put through the drivetrain and not lost though flexing in the frame etc. Finally, if you look at the two bikes side by side, you will see that the seat posts look different due to more advanced tech. hope this answered your question :-)
Sorry for the late response, I agree however, you will want to buy the bike that you will enjoy the most whilst owning it. Don’t worry too much about the resale price as there will most likely be people your size too. If you get the Pro then you can have some money left over to either enjoy yourself with or upgrade the bike further. If you go for the SL then you will spend more money but get a slightly lighter and faster bike. Paint colours are also something to consider. There is too much choice these days. I hope I wasn’t too late replying to you.
I have found the seat post quite hard to move myself. I found that it is because the di2 cables are getting in the way. If it is able to be pulled out but not pushed in that will be why. If you pull the cables where they come out at the front and rear derailleur whilst pushing the saddle down, that should help. Bit fiddly
Yes the prime bars were the first thing I changed when I got the bike. Tape was fine, a bit tough to wrap round the corners. It isn’t stretchy enough in my opinion but it’s super grippy 👍
Good review. Needed this to be sure about my Giant purchase
So glad I could help, something I am always doing myself as I need reassurance for everything I buy! It’s a lot of money. Let me know what you get 👊

Hey, absolutely same here, did you managed to solve problem?
Couldn’t agree more. For the long term appearance of a bike it’s not great but for racing anything that makes it lighter is better

Totally agree! love the look of the factor, not sure what would make it a smoother ride tbh but yes different group sets will have different feels.
Underrated channel, great review!
Thanks mate, means a lot!
awesome review! Thanks for your sharing mate.
am considering about Giant propel & Canyon Aeroad. Your review helps me a lot :D
Thanks! I have never experienced an aeroad but from what I know, both bikes are fantastic. obviously the propel is a bit of a better allrounder, and the aeroad will be slightly faster on the flat. either one you decide to go for will be a choice you will not regret!
@@Tommy_cycles good to hear about that. Your propel looks gorgeous, btw. Looking forward to watching your next video. Cheers!
Any time, and thank you, it does look rather pretty!!

Also will add the SL is 6.8kg which is incredible for an Aero bike. Mine is size M.
its crazy!

Hello nice review, i have a question. Whats your bike size, height and leg inseam?
I actually don’t know 😂 I’ll try and come back to you on this
My height is 182cm and bike is size M
Nice review! Waiting on mine to arrive 🤟
Thank you, Enjoy the experience!
Do you think changing the cassette to a 32 would make a lot of difference on the hills?
its preference, if you are fit, a 30t is more than enough and will never be an issue in races (uk) a 32 would be a good choice if you are a beginner or riding very long and steep climbs.
Love the bike!!!!
Ok ok you’ve convinced me to get one😉
Great stuff :-)
Hi, is the Giant power meter still good? Zero issues?
Yes, not had any major issues so far. Super easy wireless charging (insanely fast charging) the only thing I am a bit disappointed about is that if your chain drops on the inside of the chain set, it will scuff the power meter and has actually damaged the grooves that the charger ports sit in to secure it in place. Nice review- think you could fit 32 tires on this bike?!
Thanks, I think 32mm are the limit.
Please Make a video comparation between madone vs propel!
Great idea, It will be difficult as I dont have the Madone anymore, but I can compare using my memory of what it felt like compared to the propel!
how about wheels, are they ok? im afraid of hookles tech. What tires do you have and what pressure?
totally understand, I have kept to the codex tyres although the rear tyre has worn out really fast compared to the front. I ride at 65-70psi which works for me. it would take an awful lot of unplanned force to shift the tyre over the rim. it is quite a bit deeper than you may think.
I’m wondering if I should get this or madone sl7 what do you think

It is very comfy to ride due to the iso speed (if going with the older gen)
@@Tommy_cycles really good review by the way
is it compatible with mechanical groupset?
From what I can see yes it is compatible as there are rubber plugs which cover larger holes for the cable.
Whit pedals 8.88kgs? Or more ?
7.6ish!! It’s 7.4 stock 👍

@Tommy: How does it climb?
Really well. Nice and comfortable. Also really good that it can be made even lighter with even better lighted wheels etc
How is the difference with the sl ?
so the sl carbon is layered differently, I think they use less pieces of carbon. This makes the sl lighter than the propel and despite it being lighter, it is stiffer meaning more power is being put through the drivetrain and not lost though flexing in the frame etc.

@@Tommy_cycles wow thanks bro 👍, im just torn between sl and pro, the isp on sl not good for the resale price 😄, what do you think?

What pedals do you use?
Look keo classic, nice pair of budget pedals
Just got the bike in size M. The saddle is way too high for me, but I can't change it now due to the glue/sealant applied to the seatpost. Any tips?
I have found the seat post quite hard to move myself. I found that it is because the di2 cables are getting in the way. If it is able to be pulled out but not pushed in that will be why.
If you pull the cables where they come out at the front and rear derailleur whilst pushing the saddle down, that should help.

What size and height are you please .
I am 175cm
Size M
Great bike, shorts need some work!! 🤣🤣🤣
HAHA yes I agree
Don’t worry we’ve been telling him for weeks now 😂
@@JoshuaHillsNutrition There are none in stock!!!! 😂
You can just slap on your Prime handlebars. You MIGHT need new tapes though.
Yes the prime bars were the first thing I changed when I got the bike. Tape was fine, a bit tough to wrap round the corners. It isn’t stretchy enough in my opinion but it’s super grippy 👍
@@Tommy_cyclesgood thing they are not proprietary 🫶
Does it come with a powermeter?
Yes, dual side!!
