  • Actual radio transmissions of Soviet fighter pilots as they shot down the Korean Air Line Flight 007 jet over Soviet air space on September 1, 1983. Also commentary and denial from Radio Moscow as recorded from Philadelphia on September 13, 1983 at 17:15 hours GMT. Moscow later admitted shooting down the jet. In 1991, the fighter pilot admitted that the plane did have strobe lights on and he recognized it as a civilian airliner. 269 people were killed. Note: the recording of the Soviet fighter pilot was dubbed off a September 13, 1983 broadcast of WPVI-TV Action News when it first became available to the media and public.
