Great information Kris. I recorded a cache file on my Mavic 3, wad was able to copy it to the SD card, BUT when I tried to play it on my Windows computer, it gave me an error that Windows Media was not able to play the file. It plays fine on the RC Pro, just not on a Windows computer. Have you ever had this problem?
Hi Dean, I have mainly used Mac computers, so I haven't personally had this problem. However, would you try installing VLC player for Windows? Then after it's installed, right click the video file and choose open with VLC player. That might help play back the file on Windows. Let me know if that helps.
Hi I have the DJI RC CONTROLLER and took footage unfortunately it didn’t save on SD card how can I save the cache on my Mac Pro Please 😢 My controller is different to the one you use
Do you know if the footage you took may have saved to the drone's internal storage? If that's a possibility, definitely pursue that option before looking for the cache files on the RC. I don't buy a DJI RC so I don't have personal experience, but I believe the cache files are saved to the SD card in the RC. Possibly here: SD Card/Android/data/dji.go.v5/files/MediaCaches
@@readysetdrone thank you so much for the reply. but how to find it? I didn't use the SD card at that time I use the internal storage only. When I open the storage I cannot find my videos but it says my storage is full.
Watched this video several times. Cant figure out how to getto 3 dots upper right corner of controller unless i power up drone,i see in this video your controller isn't linked to craft please explain
@readysetdrone really ? I see a red light on controller which indicates not connected to drone yes?power display but not a big deal to power up the bird i was hoping for a controller short cut sitting in the house, drone work bench out in the pole barn office,im not techy at all so step by step info video's like this are huge help, thanx for reply
Thanks for the kind words. I'm not sure which red light that is or what it means, but I am sure that I was connected to the drone because I thought it would be cool to see myself in real time recording the video and talking. For example at 0:13 ... That camera is the Mavic 3 pointing at me. Having said that, if your goal is to view cached videos, you do not need to be connected to the drone.
Thanx for the reply but according to rc pro tutorial the red display light on power grid of controller indicates not connected to dtone. Actually my intentions are to verify i have my sd card formatted and i want to free up internal memory on controller and to switch memory to sd to keep controller memory free if possible, further as a retired senior, no home computer ( yet) eye balling laptop's to edit video's is my plan but navigating all these apps, etc on a smart phone is a challenge
Hi, my sd card got corrupted somehow and i cant open alot of videos. But i have them on my cache on the dji fly app. Is there a way to save them in a resolution that i shot it with? (4k) right now its showing as low quality
this is *nearly exactly the video i was looking for. thanks for putitng this together, not a lot of content like this. finding myself in a weird situ with RC Pro now though. have cleared my cache and other locations you mentioned, but still have like 19.2 of 19.9gb occupied by "other data" and cannot seem to get this cleared - any insights on this? thanks man
That doesn't sound normal at all. I'm curious if the only option at this point is a factory reset. I'll reach out to DJI and see if they have any insight. Thanks for the comment, by the way! Sorry it wasn't helpful in your particular situation.
thinking the same, factory reset will be only option. connected to computer and found another rando folder of cached media. cleared that 9gb and it's still showing storage full 🤦♂ before resetting, i need to do some homework on retaining my waypoints & hyperlapse missions, have a lot of time & sweat into those and cannot lose them! thanks for chiming in m8 @@readysetdrone
I accidentally formatted my SD card and wiped it. I have my caches video files still in my RC storage. Is there any way to export those and convert them back to mp4?
Oh ok, you were probably using the RC-N1 remote. I haven't tested out the process on a phone, so I'm not sure how different it is since we don't have the gray remote. I hope you find your footage!
I don't see why copying cache files from the internal memory to the SD card is necessary at all. Especially since it is very cumbersome via BT. In the FlyApp, under "Profile" and "Settings", it is easy to select that the video cache files should be saved directly to the SD card, that's it. Since the internal memory has only limited capacity, it makes sense to use an SD card for the cache files if it is available.
Totally! The reason to copy cached files to an SD manually is if you want to keep them on the internal storage, but don't want to plug in via a cable, to transfer directly to a computer from the RC Pro. Once you choose to save directly to an SD card, they can't be copied back to the DJI fly app internal cached location. It's just a preference that some people might have, but I agree that the SD card is a better option. Thanks for the comment.
A great explainer on what is a fairly complicated process (at least to me!). Excellent tip on NOT formatting within the controller.
Thanks, Joshua. I appreciate your comment.
Great information Kris, thanks for sharing. It's really hard to find this kind of information, so much is unknown about. how the DJI RC works.
Very helpful information. Thank you. That said, I know who I'm calling when I have questions. 😂
Glad it was helpful!
Well done
Thank you, Tim!
Thanks for sharing I learned something new.
Thanks, Art.
Excellent video and sure answered a few things that I couldn't figure out
Thanks, Gerry.

i recorded some videos. but somehow only cached video showing and actual high quality videos were not showing drone album . what can be the issue ?
Hmm, I'm not sure. Is the drone currently turned on?
Everything needs to be turned on to download the full quality videos.

Thank you for your reply after hours of trying yes I worked it out to have save via DJI FLY
🫣honestly not sure how I did but it worked! 👍🇦🇺
Please help me to retrieve my videos. My videos in my phone are gone when I clear the cache of my mavic air
Clearing the cache will delete the videos on your phone, but you should still have them in the drone or drone's SD card itself.

I'm sorry to hear that! 😕 The cache saves only low quality versions.

Yes, this video covers how to export cached files from the fly app. They should already be MP4 files.
@@readysetdrone unfortunately I didn’t have the app until today.
I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. The app is already a part of the RC Pro.

Still have 5 gigs in my 'other' folder that I don't know what it is.
Maybe offline maps?
Thanks
I don’t have a share button!!
They have made this unbelievable hard. Dji should have an option to merge the audio with the full res video automatically. It is 2024.
Yeah, I agree.
Can't even get the go fly app to open
That's no good! Hopefully DJI support can help you out.
Maybe I have this wrong. From what I understood, unless you format SD card in the RC Pro it will not work as a cache.
That would make sense, but I had to share my actual experience, which was not formatting it in the RC Pro.
friggin RC doesn't HAVE THIS
