- Today I will on a mission to try eat the world famous delicacy fruit that is durian! I have never tried this stinky and pungent fruit before but I will try my best to sample some in today's vlog for you! I'm super excited to try this fruit as I have heard many mixed feelings about it from a bunch of people, some saying it's the worst thing they have ever eaten and others saying it's the most delicious and creamist fruit the world has to offer!
Durian is known for being very expensive, prices can range into the $100 for just the one fruit! I will be buying a small piece so that I can show you an affordable (kind of) durian here in Vientiane, Laos!
Address: Sihom Fresh Fruits, Rue Hengboun, ວຽງຈັນ
Opening times: 9AM-9:30PM
Price: $20-$30 per KG (including shell weight)
I hope you enjoy the video and have an awesome day!!

I find myself smiling watching your videos!! You make everything look so good! Keep up the good work!
I'm so happy I can make you smile. Thank you! 🙂🌶️🌶️
That stinky fruit is very expensive 😫 $120 whole in US. I had it last week and love it. Definitely one of my favorites. Stay safe enjoy Laos brother 🙏.
It is such an expensive fruit 😅 thank you Ott!
The king of fruit! Definitely an acquired taste but once acquired, totally addictive! ;-)
I think so too, I already want more 😃
Well said 👏.
I came here to watch this video after i watched your new video of trying durian in Malaysia.
7:44 Remember what you said?😆
Glad to see you enjoy our durian in Malaysia👍
What did I say? Haha thank you so much for watching Yee 🙂👍🙂
Watching it makes my hungry! Going to finish my durian in the fridge!
Haha, enjoy 😋😋 thanks for watching Minna 😊👍
Yummy, Dan's video stir my appetite.
That's one of my main goals 🙂🙂🙂🌶️🌶️
Hey, Dan. If you travel down south to Pakse, those durians are cheaper because they grow them down there.
That's awesome to know. Thanks Makoto!👍👍
Lol! Dan that is my most favorite fruit from Asia! It’s so good. Try a few more times and you’ll be hooked on it😃
I did hear that this happens haha
I've had it a few times in the Philippines. If you don't dwell on the smell and starting eating it quickly it's actually quite yummy. It's supposed to be very nutritious.
I heard it's very nutritious too. But you're right, after the smell goes tje taste buds kick in and I found it quite moreish and addictive. Overall a great fruit 🙂🙂
Welcome to laos 🇱🇦😍😍
Thank you 😊
Dan. I tried durian once but I gagged and I just couldn’t eat it. You are THE MAN!
The smell's bad, but actually tastes quite nice haaa
Enjoy watching your videos, but this one was one of our favorites! Way to be brave!
Also, if you want to try some really good Malaysian food, you should try out the restaurant inside of the Redwood Hotel (near That Dam). They serve Malaysian food in the front part until 2:30 pm each day, and it's supposedly the best in town.
Oh wow, thank you so much for your suggestion. And your kind words. Malaysian food is a cuisine I'm less familiar with so I'll definitely check that place out 🙂🙂
It’s nice fruit Dan
Yes, I quite enjoyed it!
This is nice fruit can make ice cream, who love it is very tasty but very strong smell.
This durian species is from Thailand.
I quite liked it 😄
I love durian , I can’t afford to eat it as often as I like . Here in the state it is expensive the last time my sister bought it , $80 usd
Whoa, soo much!
you are the best dan andrew zimmer can not eat at all you number #1
Thank you 🙂🤗
I come from your video eating durian in Malaysia hahaha
Thank you Pitwan 🙏😋🙏
It is also an aphrodisiau too.
Is it 😂
Those durians quality at that Shop/Vendor you are buying are quite good.....higher grade type.
It was pretty good 😊
Jeez, I want some. $10 for 2 pieces, not bad, and they are ripe. Are you going to buy again? After all, it is an acquired taste.
Definitely an acquired smell as everyone knows. The taste was pretty ok I'd say 🙂😂
bro, in lao or pretty much Asia, period, durain is king of fruit... you either love it or hate it. out of the seven of us (and we are asians), only my sister and I love it, the other 5 hate it!
I quite enjoyed the taste in the end 🙂
Advice to ppl who want to try durian. Change several dirty diapers first, smell and texture very similar. Dan, I almost fell off my treadmill watching you.
Haha working out while watching me eat. Awesome!! 😎☺️🌶️😋🙏👍🏻🙂
Haha, we tried it in Malaysia and it was one of the things banned on the AirBNB rules because of the smell 🤣
Haha. The smell's pretty horrific right. Did you enjoy the taste?
@@DanvsFood you know, the taste was actually alright. As you pointed out, a bit pricy, I'll stick with the Granny Smith apples haha.
The smell definitely makes you think it'll be worse than it is. The texture though, when you poke the skin it feels like a raw chicken breast. So weird.
I saw a Durian McFlurry in Singaporean McDonalds, kinda regret not getting it now!
Yeah, the flavour's not bad, completely different to the smell.
Haaa, durian ice-cream just seems wrong though. The yoghurt i had was nasty, but not because of the fruit. I think it was some imitation durian in it..
You paid way too much for it. Especially when you are getting only one seed. Glad you tried it. It’s the BESt!!!!
Yeah, I think the fruit was out of season. Now I see everywhere 50k kip per kilogram.
Wow 🤩, Do you like durian?
I like the taste but definitely not the smell 🙂🙂
Durian for me, hit's a nerve literally, like a bad/ fake cologne or perfume. My wife loves it and she's allowed to eat it in the garage, just not in the house. Lol
Haha, I sympathise with you 😅
haha durian multilayer cake is easier for beginners, it has a balanced taste, and the smell is not scary
Durian cake? I'm not sure I'd like that 🤣. I'll rather eat the real thing. Smell's terrible but taste's pretty yum 🙂
@@DanvsFood oh I'm glad that you enjoyed raw durian :D yeah it is pretty yumm
The flavour is so fine compared to the the smell, but even the smell you gonna bear it
The smell is overpowering. But the taste is creamy & buttery 😋😋
Do u know why durian has that pungent smell?
No. Why?
@@DanvsFood According to scientific explanation, it was designed to attract insects like fruit flies. They help the plant to pollinate or something like that.
Awesome! Thank you! 🙂
I trying it few times... not my fruit 😅 it’s not even about the smell... taste is 😌weird for me
Not many people's fruit hahaa
🤢🤢🤢😭😭🤢🤢
Haha. It was more delicious the more I ate 😋
@@DanvsFood to each their own i guess, its my moms favorite fruit she eats it with sticky rice.. The smell makes me dizzy 😵
Wow your mum's awesome! I'll have to try it with sticky rice someday too 😜
@@DanvsFood yeah you should try it, she loves it and eat it as a meal ( lunch ) i like sticky rice and mango with a little bit drizzle of condensed milk on top
I'll definitely try it out one day. But yes, mango and sticky rice is always great
Only intelligent can eat that
Thanks for watching 🙂
