As beautiful as Syria and its people are, even if it was a million times better, it saddens me that it has become like this. I left Aleppo 15 years ago and have not visited it yet. Thank you, my friend, you have brought back beautiful memories for me A hug from Sweden
Hello Mark. Thank you for feafuring Syria. Me and my son are enjoying your vlog especially this series. I am from the Philippines and my heart goes for the Syrian people. We have a friend here in Baguio City who has a small restaurant we love going and eating in this small place. He is so friendly. He told us about the war and his house was one of those were bombed in Homs. More blessings to you, your family, and your team. Thsnks also to your friends there and guides.
Hi Mark, I found your channel because I was living in Uzbekistan and wanted to experience the food scene there. Once upon a time I was an Iraqi refuge in Syria, and seeing the resilience and kindness of Syrian people really warms my heart. I left in 2008 and it feels as if nothing has changed. Thank you for this series and really all the wonderful content you create!
Mark, i particularly loved this video. ❤️ i have Syrian friends in Sydney, Australia, who turned me on to Syrian food about 6 years ago. This video is worth watching 5 times in a row. I hope to visit Aleppo one day.
Wow, what an amazing introduction ! This is going to be a great video, thanks so much Mark ! I didnt know that Aleppo is so old and so famous for food.
I was part of the peacekeeping mission with UN and have seen what war has done to a beautiful place. Im so glad that the people are back in action and rebuilding has started. Well done, Mark for painting us an idea on how life is like now! Thank u
As a huge foodie who savors every flavor (you know, uses ALL the taste buds!😆), Syrian cuisine is at the top of my list. It's incredibly diverse, bursting with rich flavors, authentic, and absolutely delicious. My ultimate dream is to travel to Syria someday and experience this food culture at its source. Here's hoping my Syrian food adventure comes true soon, and that Syria itself returns to its golden age. Sending lots of love to Syria and to you, Mark, all the way from Yemen! ✌️❤
@47:00 the paper at the cashier says “if you are in need promise that you tell us and consider the meal is already paid” in a very kind way too 🥰 i see the same paper in syrian restaurants here in egypt
genuinely my most favourite food guide Mark's had in all of his episodes, the only guide too that is matching Mark's enthusiasm and appreciation for food, sometimes even surpassing Mark, from such an authentic place too. Such a breath of air to watch these two humans.
I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your recent visit to Syria. Your presence in our country not only brought immense joy to many, but it also served as a reminder of the connections and bonds that tie us all together. As I watched your videos during your time in Syria, I was overwhelmed with a range of emotions. It was a poignant reminder of the beauty of my homeland and the warmth of its people, both of which I dearly miss. Your visit not only highlighted the rich culture and heritage of Syria but also showcased the resilience and spirit of its people. Thank you Mark❤
Oh, man! I can barely imagine what these people might have gone through during a decade or so of war and subsequent devastating earthquake...it is beyond comprehension. I see how these people are eager to communicate with the outside world. It was a severe crime to tear down that castle citadel and 800 years old zuk(bazar). Mark is always so kind and respectful to the Syrian cultures and my most favorite food guide episode to watch. Thank you for showing the beautiful city of Syria series.
You've done more for peace in the world than many secretaries of state. Keep spreading the videos as they promote understanding and tolerance. This video is so much more than just food tasting. Thank you and keep doing your blessed work. And I love the syrian food. I go to syrians in the market of Valencia as they do great bulgur dishes. And not to forget the sweets. Wherever there is a syrian restaurant in the world I will go there.
Beautiful people and I also noticed that they only eat freshly made food, not much preservatives. Syria is a beautiful country. Lovely lovely people. Your guide in this tour is amazing too.
I've never been more excited for a video than this one. I mean come on you're in Aleppo. I almost cried from joy. i wish there was a part 2 of Aleppo. Thank you very much Mark. You're the best!

Thank you for this video, Mark. So good to see life is gradually returning to normal. Aleppo is such a regal city, so historic, and an important part of human history. I wish peace for all Syrians both at home and abroad. May God protect you all.
at 48:41 there is a sign behind Mark posted where the cashier sits. This sign reads something like that: if you do not have money then you pay nothing Or for heaven's sake! if you are in need then your receipt has been already paid
Syrian food looks so delicious! Thank you Mark for sharing Syrian food and culture with us! I learn so much from you. I also respect emmensely the respect YOU show all the people you meet throughout the world. My heart goes out to the Syrian people.
The food, people, and culture is really amazing. Thanks @Mark Wiens for this series. This one has turned out to be really special. More power to you. #FoodAndFoodiesShallPrevai 😘🤘
hi Mark, I'm from Malaysia but somehow I feel drawn towards Syria. I remember reading about the cat man of Aleppo, the brave guy who saved humans and cats during the heavy bombing by Russians. It is nice to see how life is bustling amidst the ruins and restoration work has begun. Most of all, how some veterans survived and returned to make good food by the streets. Like people make the most of life and do their best to restore normalcy. Very touching to watch. Very resilient people. Syria is in my list of places to travel to and your guide will be the one I shall contact, if I can afford him. :D Thank you very much for making this video.
Brother I am so happy that you are in my country 🥰 thx for showing it to the world. You absolutely must experience the incredible flavors of Ecuadorian cuisine! Please, visit this amazing country. The food looks so wonderful. The people are so friendly and kind. One of the best videos you ever done. Thank you so much for sharing this with the world.
Syria is a wonderful country with a marvelous culture. Unfortunately because of the war people are suffering a lot, but they never give up their hospitality. Because it is really such a society. I hope I can visit one day. As a Turk living in Czechia, I send warm greetings to all Syrians.
great series Mark! btw something thats easy to miss but worth mentioning on 48:45 the paper thats on the cashier stand it says "please if your in need, your order has been paid"
Mark, i was always hopping to see you in Syria one day and i thought this day will never come. But you did it❤. it is an honer to have you with you family in my country.💐
Mark, you keep being awesome and yourself. You are such a thoughtful food enthusiast, who actually does your homework on the people, places and cultures you encounter on your tours. That is important and impressive. You are always excited and polite about the many foods you try. I have been watching for a long time. Drop me a "hey," and make my day. Shalawam.
Mark, we love you for your open heart and love for all the people out there in the world ❤ I fell in love with people of Aleppo, incredible hospitality and kindness ❤
@@Amir-gu4gz I am not racist. 15 million people came here because there was a war, but now there is no war in Syria, so why aren't they going back to their countries? They have been in our country for years, and our economy can no longer bear it, and their numbers keep increasing. In some cities, we have become a minority.
@@tinabioBut its as simple as you think, Assad government did not fall down and its the biggest reason why syrians are not going back, every syrian that fled to turkey is marked by Assad government as soon as they put step there they will get arrested to nowhere and I'm not joking to you about that, Assad normally has lost the war if Russia didn't help him and every Syrian would have went back Voluntarily. The economy there is fucked up, Syrian pound used to be 60 SYP for 1 USD and now its 15000 SYP for 1 USD. The maximum salary is around 100-150 dollars per month!! Of course there is many reasons, me as Syrian living in Germany, I would agree to you there is alot of bad Syrians who did not respect your country as gusts but not all of us like this, many want to work and build their own businesses. The Turkish economic is down not only because of the Syrians but the whole conflicts that happning around the world, the wars. The only thing I want you to understand that not everyone is the same and if Assad wasn't rule the country, 95% of Syrians would definitely go back, but if you know you are going to die, you won't kill yourself, will you?
Forget the food, the restaurants, the stalls - Mark is performing an incredibly human act - restoring dignity to the Syrian people. This is how you begin paving the way towards peace and prosperity. Well done Mark. 🙌

Save minority communities in india first ,
Thank you for speaking a little about the history of Syria and Aleppo and showing the world a side of our culture. You are welcome at all times❤
Thank you Mark habibi you’re always welcome to my city Aleppo❤🇸🇾🇦🇲 Im Armenian from Aleppo
Thank you for this video, Mark. So good to see life is gradually returning to normal. Aleppo is such a regal city, so historic, and an important part of human history. I wish peace for all Syrians both at home and abroad. May God protect you all.
Life has not returned to normal. More than 80% of Syrians are below the poverty line
at 48:41 there is a sign behind Mark posted where the cashier sits. This sign reads something like that: if you do not have money then you pay nothing
Or
for heaven's sake! if you are in need then your receipt has been already paid
And that is what is unique about 🇸🇾 and worth fighting for
Thank you for sharing ❤
I saw that, you are right,
Wow amazing, thank you for sharing!
Wouldn’t work in America. People wouldn’t pay
Syrian food looks so delicious! Thank you Mark for sharing Syrian food and culture with us! I learn so much from you. I also respect emmensely the respect YOU show all the people you meet throughout the world. My heart goes out to the Syrian people.

WOW Aleppo seems to be nice place to travel, all the histories and the big castle the food and smiling people! Thank you Mark for taking us there!
hi Mark, I'm from Malaysia but somehow I feel drawn towards Syria.
He is in the part ruled by russia lol
يارب احفظ سوريا و انصر اهلها و جمع شملهم، تحيا لأهل سوريا من اختكم في مصر، بحب الشعب و الاكل السوري.

That is important and impressive. You are always excited and polite about the many foods you try. I have been watching for a long time. Drop me a "hey," and make my day. Shalawam.

When do you plan to take back your citizens from Turkey?
@@tinabioWhy are you racist ?? Is it fun for you?
May Allah help all Syrian in reconstruction of this city and Syria. Ameen
Mark ALWAYS has a complement for a dish. If it tastes terrible he complements the texture. He's so polite for his guides.
You know nothing about Syrian food so just shut up
He is not there to critique criticize but experience and explain
@@mrb2643 good point
Thats cuz he gets paid for these trips, which makes all his comments negligible
