Redridge Mountains - Music & Ambience - World of Warcraft

- Geographically, the Redridge Mountains form the spine of the continent of Azeroth, although its many limbs and valleys have come to be known by separate, often ominous names such as Deadwind Pass and the Burning Steppes.
Although claimed by the humans, the dwarven Dark Iron clan founded its own kingdom in the northern reaches, fleeing defeat in the War of the Three Hammers. Summoning the Firelord Ragnaros to aid them, their leader Thaurissan inadvertently caused the eruption of a new, immense volcano; Blackrock Mountain. This not only destroyed his clan's new city, but utterly devastated the ecology of northern Redridge, forever leaving it an ash-choked wasteland.
The humans of Stormwind remained dominant in the unblemished southern ranges. Now a much smaller region, the Redridge Mountains were eventually conquered by the Orcish Horde in the First War, in which the southern kingdom was forced into exile. The humans eventually returned triumphant and began rebuilding their former holdings. Yet the orcs of the Blackrock and Black Tooth Grin clans would also return, this new "Dark Horde" plaguing the town of Lakeshire from their former stronghold of Blackrock Mountain.
Eventually, the orcs allied with the wicked human warlock Morganth and his Shadowhide gnoll lackeys, and seized the eastern half of Redridge, capturing the castle of Stonewatch Keep before the events of World of Warcraft. Weakened by political turmoil in Stormwind, Lakeshire was left with little military aid to fend off the encroaching orcs.
The region remains heavily contested to this day. Desperate, the people of Redridge seek help from outside sources, recruiting passing adventurers to help in the defense of Lakeshire and the liberation of Stonewatch.

Aside from Hogger in Elwynn, this zone was an absolute training ground for "elite" quests. Alliance cut our teeth here for group quests and basic party mechanics -- pulling, tanking, ranged DPS. What a treasure this game and its music was.
Stranglethorn vale is what kicked my ass. Don't remember RRM being too difficult. But, I was primarily running a druid. Did they have an easier time here?
@@kervin1693 there are the elite quests and the elite castle, so no u couldn't solo
Indeed it was about learning the basics to help you further down the road.. great times i miss it alot but mostly i miss my friends and the feeling of excitement and discovery the game provided.
oh yes that elite castle, I still remember the first time I went to it clueless then getting 2 shot by a mob and started to look for a group made a lot of friends in Redridge.
The post cataclysm had that cool brawler dude who was brawling in the downstairs of an inn tho
I will never forget an evening more than ten years ago, I first time ran from Stormwind to redridge mountain with my friends, the lake and town in the sunset suddenly appeared after we crossing a ridge, peace and beautiful.
agreed 😢
Our imagination as kids helped a lot in forging our memories. Fun times....
That was something I always loved about WoW, how there was a 24 hr clock and the sun would change. I saw many beautiful digital sunsets in that game.
Ah Redridge, first time I was ever one hit by a high level Horde player while walking across that bridge. Nearly pissed myself!
WoW is living proof that you don't need billions of triangles to elicit an emotional response in players.
very important comment for game developers to read
So much due to the music!
I mean, it looked pretty good in 2004. But already it was avoiding the pitfall of trying to be photorealistic. I feel like the games with a more interesting art style age better.
I remember flying around Azeroth the day of the Cataclysm pre-patch. I went to Redridge and heard the music at 21:50. It struck a chord with me as I really realized how the world, and the game was irrevocably changed forever.
That memory has only become more powerful in time, because back then I didn't realize just how far the game really had changed, and how much it would continue to change until it barely resembled itself anymore.
I feel like the same could be applied to myself in some ways. The evolution of this game is just one big metaphor for growing up, or something....
This zone makes me feel sad everytime I hear the music, because I played wow for the first time and I had a 3 month card subscription and I met a Night Elf female mage I think, who showed me around and helped me to get my first shoulder gear, we were talking a lot, she said she was a student in some university I think in Poland, when our last night we were fighting orc boss in Stonewatch Keep, it was so late at night, I said that i think it is my last time, i may not see you tomorow because my time run`s out, we said our goodbyes, but hoped that i was wrong about it and that we would meet the next day... Sadly the time in Azeroth came to an end for me and we never met again. It was in my early 15th , now I am 29.. back then I did not have any money to continue with something like a video game where you pay each month.. then after a good while my account with my first characters full of memory got lost when Blizzard changed everything in Cataclysm. This is crazy how such a small and virtual thing can bring real sadness and nostalgia over times that happend over a decade ago and to this day I still wonder, what if I only had a bit more time in that world, what if I came back the next morning... this feeling makes me sad, like something unfulfilled. Thank`s for reading my story and take care!
There was no Night Elf Mages back then...
@@daljedalje7079 he's only ever played the game 3 months 14 years ago, give him a break about the names of classes
@@none-of-your-busi-ness and it wasn't a girl. jk, but really.

Thank you Blizzard for beautiful memories.
I thank the Blizzard at that time, but not the Blizzard today who is nothing but the greedy Activision’s slave, no more creativity, don’t care about quality or customer, money is all they care
Peaceful memories... exciting adventures.... Thank you for this....
I always use these playlists when DMing for my group in D&D, these are so great
This place is so cool. How it has that peaceful forest vibe of elwynn with a sense of danger from all the monsters and enemies that can be found in the mountains. Getting a group to do the elite or difficult quests here is so fun.
This is my favorite zone music in the game. It takes me back to the ought's. As someone that preferred solo play, this was the first zone in my alliance playthrough (I started as Horde, but changed servers and faction for a group of new friends later in life) that really gave me hardships and allowed me to grow as that character. I realized how much I relied on my Orc Warrior's ability to tank compared to my pathetic gnome wizard's health pool.
Are you preparing us for the Lakeshire ganking after a week with this beautiful music?
not with layering :)
@@olafdericsson7613 Layering won't have any perceptible effect on ganking and whatnot.
So when I bought warcraft (it was still sold in a box back then) I started as an undead. Played to level 50.
Then I decided to create a human rogue on a pvp server (deathwing). Get to level 10 or so arrive in red ridge, stop to read the road sign...
I turn around and there is this fully geared undead mage watching me. His armor somehow made black actually glow.
He didn't kill me... he sheeped me over and over for about 30min, then left. I avoided road signs ever since.
Haven't played for years, but occasionally I miss it. Thank you for this.
See the road sign where "the great sheep attack" occured at 7:15
So. Who's waiting for classic?
Anpeo
Been there, done that, but I do have my wonderful memories of the mystery and majesty I experienced in 2014 and a few years after.
I NEED to go back home. (Which is funny because I never actually played classic, but pre-cata 'revamp' zones is more what I'm thinking about)
I played WoW when it first came out but never really got past level 40 or maybe higher, I always got bored of higher levels. Never got super into it but I loved exploring the world, taking in the pretty environment and questing. The music was a big part of that peaceful inviting atmosphere, I might play Classic for those nostalgic memories.
@Trebonius Flonius not on pve server.
like a hug from the past
I used to spend a lot of time fishing here during the beta. Visited it again for a minute during the few hours of vanilla I played.
Still remember it pretty vividly. Not sure why. Just felt very chill.
The orcs kicked my noob ass here so hard back in the day
That one orc hiding behind a tree next to the road.
;-;
The time when everybody was a noob was amazing!
I watch these for both the music/ambiance but also for the tour of the zone that you are giving us.
I'd always hit this zone every time I created a new character. So much nostalgia. Good times.
Who's ready to go home again ? :)
Love this zone. So many memories...
Yall remember the lakeshire lochness monster
Dropsy ol gummers my guyyyy
He wasn't here but in loch modan lake :)
I remember dat! I gave him tree fiddy and he done disappear!
@@pholoween1642 there was one in both lakes I’m pretty sure
Everness the type of person to always be able to hit you right in the feels. Another lovely video reminding us all of an amazing zone in an amazing game.
Nice memories, nice places to sit down and just relax for beautiful soundtrack and views
Finally! 1:08 is my best part! Thank you so much!
so very glad that youre still posting these!
I love this game, and I love all of you 🍻
soon we are back home...
Been looking for this one
so excited for classic
thanks for another hour of pure relaxation
There is No better place than Redridge mountains man
i liked how the quests here where impossible to do without a group, for most classes anyway.
I remember 3 orcs vs 1 mage. i could sheep 1 orc but not the other 2.
I miss this game sometimes I think about starting up my old account and playing. I don't know anyone tho.
I played SL for a few months. Majority quit cause it's just the same old grind. What you are desiring is a time that we will never be able to get back: Our first time with WoW.. let it be classic or later. the first months/years with wow were the best. the days when u were a noob and exploring.
I still to this day level characters just so I can experience Elwynn Forest Redridge and Duskwood.
They might not be the same as they were pre-cata but I still love going.
Exactly what I was waiting for !
Even though I don't play the game, this music takes me to places I thought I'd never visit.
That glorious, glorious bridge, complete after all those years, only to be wrecked again when we start playing Classic.
Time extracts a heavy toll on this bridge. Hah.
thanks for putting this together!
👍
the best i know, these wow music is just insane and great! have a great rest of day!
I was 9 years old in classic times... I felt like a little explorer. I remember that I asked my older brother so much about this game. for example how to effectively kill a group of elite mobs as a mage. Or how I can open those rogue-chest-boxes as a mage haha
me too my brother
Love this zone. Thx....
western plaguelands B just makes my soul ascend at the start
thank you everness very cool
🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴Saludos Desde Colombia😎👍 Y Que Viva El Wow Of Warcraft🔥🔥🔥
One of my favorite places as a Horde, I used to travel overland for an hour just to get there! haha!
I still remember getting the quest where you had to fight gnolls while intoxicated. That was so cool.
Since I played Hardcore wow, this ambiance video is giving me anxiety instead, I think I'm broken for life.
In Redridge mountains, there is a quest where you can find the kid's locket which is both available for Alliance and Horde, so I got my tauren to look for it and give it to the little child, so heartwarming.
Wish one day with Alliance and Horde now being very close that more things like that would be possible.
This is where my summer cottage would be
I recognized Redridge in the Warcraft movie.
Well, the burning remains of it, that is.
Beware of the Loch Monster when you skill your lockpicking!
Redridgeboss theme
"Hello, guys! Madseason here, back with another video for you!"
Thank you for makking this vidoe dude keep it up

remember this place bacause of "Rambo" quests
oh how beautiful.
i love your videos. can't get better sleep aid.
Might i suggest Frostfire Ridge next?
😁 Loved that zone! Too bad it's gone. Oh wait, it might be in Vanilla!
@@christianfreedom-seeker934 frostfire ridge is in WoD.
I remember being in this zone a lot due to professions back in the day. So many nostalgic memories. Now I am level 15 and in this zone. I am still doing the same thing I did back in the day. I thought I would change, but I did not.XD
John Keeshan liked this.
may is friends rest in peace
thank you, perfect workout music.
Oh man.. here we are again
They got nice new bridge tho
Characters and lore- I like the horde better. Zones and music I liked where the alliance played .
most beautiful zone in eastern kingdoms! and the most beautiful music as well!
Back in the day, this was the place to go for late teens early 20s and it sucked for cloth wearers. Died so many times from orcs.
Люблю эту музыку. Хочется снова пойти играть. 🧡
nostalgia pure
This is beautiful, but your playlist says Western Plaguelands, not Redridge. Could you correct it please? I am trying to identify some of the places in RR where the music is unfamiliar to me, but it says WP. Thanks for all you do, love this music!
The names are correct. Redridge does not have its own theme.
@@Everness1 did not realize that. Of course, I recognized the Elwynn Forest themes, but I usually avoided the Plaguelands so that music was not really familiar. I play your videos constantly while I work here as a self-employed designer as it is so relaxing.
I imagine what another eastern kingdoms update would do for this area. It’s a great RP zone.
Your wish might come true. There might be "WoW 2" with BFA graphic who knows. Let's just wait for Blizzcon early next year and see what's planed in the future.
At first I hated the idea of classic. Now I realize I dont really care about retail anymore. Classic is where I will be! I'm going home!
The nostalgia and dem feels hit me like a god dned train here. I AM CRYING!
edit: and apparently drunk... I love you, guys
Fuck yeah
For alliance
Back in 2006, I was in this zone for such a long time. I felt like Rose from the Titanic
Love it. But This is an honest question: is the music set from RedRidge Mountain just a copy paste of elwin forest.
There is some gilneas stuff in there
*Knoll aggro sounds*
Now this is the WoW. This music is making my ass quiver.
i dont know why i was so drawn to this region... i used to hear this soundtrack for hours on end, doing endless quests that became monotonous...

Straight up just ran here as a little gnome from Elwyn forest
Definitely pre-mount content
Hadn’t looked it up no idea what to expect and just saw it and was like ‘wow’
Real life literally should be more like wow
Enchanted and full of little villages and wild spaces and good news is it will eventually given a century or so either the age of the anthropcene will crash or we’ll have to create more wild spaces to curb the climate so yeah either way it will be less built up and more overgrown and wild like I’d say in 1-300 years
It’ll all grow back and become wild again
I never played WoW but 22:43 sound so familiar 🤔
A lot of this music is based on existing works of music so yeah, you likely heard the original music that this was based on.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! THERE ARE NO FRIENDLY CIVILIANS!

Almost first!!!
The first shot really shows how extremely out of proportion the architecture vs the characters in WoWs are lol.
The guards compared to the bridge looks to be the size of insects.
Best zone in wow
Gah.. I said I wouldn't play WoW again. I quit years ago, but with Classic becoming closer and closer I'm very tempted. I never played vanilla, I started plaing when TBC released. So there's also that curiosity. I've played many mmo's since then, but have never stuck with anything anywhere near as long as WoW. I know nostalgia plays a huge part, as I can't for the life of me understand what made/makes WoW so special. Other mmos are superior in every obvious way - except for the music. I'm starting to think that it's the 'simplicity' of it, both game play and graphical. That's not to say it doesn't have a high skill ceiling, but that, for the most part, it's just a slow paced experience, or it can be if you so choose. I've started to keep myself away from gaming recently, as it's all to fast paced for me in terms of graphics and effect. It gives me a proper headache!.. guess that comes with age, that sounded so old haha. There's that and I choose not to wear my glasses when I really should. I'm kinda going off on one here, so I'll stop myself.. I really want to play WoW again ;p
If you have the time, you should totally at least give it a try! I'm pretty over modern games, myself - everything common is jam packed with monetization schemes or psychological traps. It's really given me mental fatigue. I can't wait to get back to something as simple, calm, and soothing as Vanilla WoW was - truly a great experience regardless of thd kind of person you are.
@@CouchPotato252 Totally agree, and thus I shall :)
Each time I listen to your music, I want to go back to WoW for exploring and leveling, and each time i've done it, I was disappointed and bored ...
Even in retail Redridge is a RIP zone on p v p servers.
Love this place! I especially like flying there with my undead warlock and ganking at low-level alliancers! =)
ah lakeshire a abode of ganking surprise kills by a level 88 orc and a shaman all day long and all night
>ywn go back
10 dislikes just because it wasn’t longer video haha
New cata music ruins classic wow atmosphere
never liked this area.
