  • After settling in the grasslands of Mulgore, the mighty tauren established the stunning capital of Thunder Bluff. For years afterward the tauren lived amid central Kalimdor’s serene plains, tending to the well-being of their beloved new home. Yet the recent Cataclysm has had disastrous effects on Mulgore. Driven from their dens south of Thunder Bluff, the barbaric quilboar have swarmed across Red Cloud Mesa, encroaching on Camp Narache. Apart from taking numerous tauren captive, the quilboar have caused giant thorned roots to burst from the ground, choking all life from the once-verdant plains. In light of this, the tauren have vowed to drive away the savage creatures and heal the wounds inflicted upon the land before the damage becomes irreparable.

World Of Warcraft, The medicine that has treated and still treats my depression to this day, from heartbreaks to loneliness, I would always come back to this game whenever I wanted a journey, meet new friends, have those long talks with someone I've never met before, yet feel so secure, Sitting in the most beautiful, relaxing places of Azeroth, telling eachother stories of their lives. And the soothing music comes in, rushing all the memories in. I'm a type of guy that loves to just speed through games, get it more action-packed, energetic and intense, but with World of Warcraft, there are just some zones where you just want to take your time, never miss a moment and take it all in.

I'd argue it doesn't treat loneliness, at least not like it used to (you got different standards when you're younger). Like in life in general, you don't truly get to choose who you'll meet (in WoW, starting from which server(s) you play on). There are many decent ppl but how do you know if you truly match with someone? Most of the time we don't even agree on how to play the game; some like endgame/raiding, some don't, some take their time leveling new alts (and have reached the account char limit because it hasn't been raised after all these years and the new options, like allied races) while others rush things with just a few chars and play them only, some enjoy PvP and others avoid it like the plague, some chat too much, others are silent, etc.
Good thing I still enjoy long talks, some days especially.
And real depression is about the world we live in, imo. If you're not saddened by it (for the right reasons, if possible) it can't be that bad.
Interesting that you are the type who usually rushes to endgame but you like taking your time in WoW, tho...!

    • @MitsurugiR
      @MitsurugiR 4 года назад

Started playing at the end of WotLK and I usually just rushed through zones, not reading any flavour text or anything, but with Classic, damn. It's just so much more atmospheric than retail, this is what an RPG is all about, taking in everything the game has to offer and basically transporting yourself into the game. The lore, the landscapes, creatures, everything combined just makes for an amazing experience.

Listening to this is 2023, when so much has changed in my life since first hearing this soundtrack. The world is a darker, harsher and more complex place than it was back then. But hearing this takes me back to that time and i can't hold back the emotion. Wow helped me with my depression, anxiety and loneliness. Without it i don't know that I'd be here today.
One of the fun memories i have was questing in stonetalon mountains when i bumped into a couple orcs jumping around inside a hut so i asked them what they're doing. And they explained that the object in the hut looked like a giant pipe and that they were stoned off their head and laughing about it. They invited me to their party and we just chilled there for hours chatting and questing together. Afterwards we said our goodbyes and i never saw them again. Hope they're doing well

I remember when I first started WoW over 12 years ago: a friend from Runescape said it was something I HAD to try. He was a Tauren warrior and said if I wanted to play with him, I had to be Horde. Reluctantly, I followed his lead. My friend was 40 levels higher than me and left me in the dust, so I had to learn my way around Azeroth on my own. My Tauren hunter, Padwann, was born (Padawan was taken! How dare they!). In the long run, I did not regret my decision to be part of the Horde (I dabbled as Alliance on other servers, shh). I met good people, tamed my first pet, Frostbite (a Mulgore wolf whom I never parted with), wandered far past the Barrens, completed and wiped instances, flew across battlefields and enchanted forests, tamed the Humar and King Bangalash, got my first Kodo and felt so accomplished, got rekt in PVP, and ultimately reached lv54 in the time of the Burning Crusade. No, I never maxed or raided, but my adventures in WoW have been unforgettable to this very day--so much so that I reminisce about those times as I'm at work. Great job on this playlist. Oh, and FOR THE HORDE!

He was made in December of 2004, just after launch. Thank you all for making this game what it was, and continues to be. I'm a member of and we just passed our 13th year together, too. Don't let the new shit muddy up your time. You can still do all of this content, just not in the same way. Find a new guild, make days for raids,pvp,farming,etc...Don't let the monotony chip away at you, because there is too much to do.

My very first memory of playing WoW was actually on a friends account, way back in 06 just before the release of BC. I made a Tauren Hunter because I loved Minotaurs, and my friend told me that Hunter was very easy for a new player to learn. I don't remember a whole lot, but I do remember questing all night until about 4 am when his mom came in the living room and was wondering why I was still up and told me to go to bed. My friend taught me to walk back as I was shooting to get more damage in before I had to melee. Then my questing lead me to Thunder Bluff and I loved the place right away. I saw another Hunter who had a Raptor pet and thought that was the coolest thing ever, and asked him how to get a pet. He told me I had to be level 10, and I wanted a pet so badly that I kept playing until I got one. I remember falling off of Thunder Bluff too and having to make the long run back to my body because I didn't know how to get back down. One of the last things I did was do a quest that had me to go an area with a bunch of aggressive Quillboars and dying a lot there until I finished what I had to do for the quest. Then finally, after playing all night and not hanging out with my friend, I hit level 10 and was finally able to tame my first pet. Which I thought was so cool, yet so lame at the same time because it was a Plainstrider. Unfortunately I wasn't able to play WoW again for quite a few years and my friend deleted my character, but I won't ever forget my first experience with the game.

This whole game (vanilla + BC) was so well crafted. Yeah, it was grindy but the world still felt alive with people and lots of different places to explore. The style of warcraft and WOW in particular is just timeless, the simplistic graphics and cartoony style just made the whole thing lovely to roam in.

Durotar is among one of the first areas players will discover upon entering the World of Warcraft, one of the many soundtracks and ambiance that brought us into this beautiful, massive, virtual world when we were all young, and immersed in fantasy based daydreams during school, or doodling dragons and knights on our school papers instead of taking notes or doing homework. Please bless us with Durotar.

I am 22 years old now and have never played wow until half year ago. Me and my friends wanted to play some mmorpg so they introduced me to a private tbc wow server and wow in general. After some undead shenanigans with my friends i started a solo tauren character. Walking the vast mulgore plains in the evening, and just doing nothing but simple things like questing, fishing, herb collecting and talking to characters all while this soundtrack played filled my heart with much joy. It was and still is a magical experiance for me. It is a really strange feeling. I feel nostalgic even though i haven't played wow as kid. Llistening to this soundtrack makes me feel like i am in a homeland that once was mine. Like i am reimagining a lost memory that was mine years ago even though it never was. Makes me think how much i would love playing it if i was still a kid. What a great game. Vanilla wow stood the test of time and even in 2020 after all these years when compared to modern games i consider it one of the best videogames i ever played. A true masterpiece

The power of some of the zone music, especially these earlier more ambient focussed ones, is amazing. You can really feel it in the zones themselves, but a mini peek is when you see the comments on videos like this and how it still evokes certain vibes and emotions a decade + later.
Here my fellow first character Taurens talk about their nostalgia in the zone with joy, positivity and pride.
Then you go the Eversong one. The track hums with power in the background but there's a lot of people sounding forlorn or a little empty in it's comments.. Almost as if they are listening to music that is supposed to sound both magical, sad and melancholic to take them on the same sort of road emotionally that their blood elves would feel going through their semi corrupted woodland after losing so much. Granted it also seems fitting for belf players to be like that. XD
As for me starting in mulgore was great. I was 12 and had come off the back of runescape. I picked a shaman named Runeclaw on Steamwheedle xD. Just being met with vast open planes once I left camp Narache was an amazing feeling and I couldn't wait to explore all of it. I'd just relax at the lake or camp too while eating my dinner, running in to some rpers was cool too. In general I also would just return and linger (tbh you had to spend longer in zones cos some quests and enemies were challenging but it was really engaging and added to immersion) and take in mulgore and Thunderbluff - still do that with zones even ones I revisit multiple times. I play Pandaren now and that explorative adventurer thing in me easily carried over.

A lot has changed about world of warcraft over the years, and while the quests might have changed a bit, Mulgore will still always have that same charm it did for us. It warms my heart to know that so many new players will start their adventures in Mulgore. This is by far my favorite zone. The wide open plains, the city on the bluffs, even all the plainstriders! And of course, the music they added later to the zone only amplifies it. Gosh... The wow devs truly did something special all those years ago, didn't they?

I remember this specific time, when I was a Tauren druid. I went out exploring and leveling up from Thunder Bluff to Un'Goro Crater. First the peaceful Mulgore, then the open Barrens, the hostile Thousand Needles, the dry Tanaris, and finally the wild and untamed Un'Goro.
I spent weeks, playing a little each day, finding new places, entering mysterious caves, crossing dangerous roads, killing and sometimes dying, gathering items, exploring wonderful and magical scenarios, listening to the wonderful and peaceful soundtrack. Getting wounded and healing. Running and attacking. Making decisions. Taking risks.
By the time I got to Un'Goro I thought to myself "Wow, Dinosaurs! I've come a long way!" and I felt like I was conquering an unknown world. And if we come to thing of it, I was, indeed.
A long way, a long time, a long journey. A magical journey.

Created my first char when I was only 5. Tauren warrior. My dad had played the original games and had to get WoW, and he just let me figure out how to play. I spent hours killing level 1-3 plainstriders not realizing that they weren’t giving me any xp, lol. So much time spent roaming around figuring out the game. I’d like to apologize to all the teammates I had in battlegrounds, I was 6/7 years old I had no idea what I was doing, I got sworn at constantly. Playing WoW all summer with my sisters doing quests screwing around, taking zeps back and forth and exploring. I logged hours on hours in vanilla just screwing around on my low level Tauren warrior. I ditched him for a bloodelf hunter when BC came out, Thunderblood I named him, and leveled him all the way up. My Tauren became forgotten stuck in mulgore throughout expansions. As much as I think he would’ve loved to explore Azeroth, I think he enjoyed staying at home in mulgore listening to this music on repeat, hunting plainstriders, playing with Kyle, and chilling with Baine Bloodhoof waiting for me to log back on. I got this idea that Tauren warriors were just big and slow and boring and I ended up deleting him to make room for others. I haven’t played WoW in over a year now, and it’s been 12 years since I began my WoW journey but holy shit does this hurt the feels. RIP Djax-I’m so sorry I neglected and deleted you.

When I played this game for the first time in 2004 as a kid (I had to sign up using my dad's information since I was too young at that time and the game was intended for 15+ years old in Korea lol), I started as an Undead Warlock in Deathknell. The map was so dark and gloomy there, so when I finally had a chance to explore Mulgore in Kalimdor, I was so impressed by how beautiful and calming the whole environment was. I was basically wandering around Mulgore, sightseeing and appreciating the graphics of the game. As a huge Warcraft series fan, exploring around in this game was truly a dream come true.

My 1st character war Tauren Druid... I didnt speak any english at all when I was little kiddo. WoW was exactly kind of game I dreamed of.
I remember walking the path from the 1st town to the 2nd after reaching level six from all the initial quests. I was amazed by that area... Beautiful mountains, green grass, lake, river, area so vividly matches tauren character... Since I didnt speak any english at all, every quest was struggle. I "decyphered" names of locations from big quest logs (had no idea something like thotbot existed)... I was discovering the map, so I can read names of sub areas. I remember seeing some big mountains in the distance and on top of them...it looked like a city... but I didnt want to believe that the game could be so perfect.
Every time I found quest NPC or a quest object, I was so happy so I can finish another quest, get that sweet green quest reward and big XP boost, though most of my XP was from killing monsters, since I didnt manage to finish many quests... I remember discovering dungeon in the mountains with those pesky gnolls or kobolds, making a wierd squeeking sound when they die (mee-mee-meeee)... I was looking forward for every even level to find out what new skills I will get from class trainer...
Everyone was nice to each other... everyone /waved, /byed, /thanks, /lold... When the time came for me to advance in the game, I found out that there actually is a city on top of that mountain I saw in the distance... and its name is Thunder Bluff...
I was such a fucking noob... but a very happy one.
PS... At level 35 I found out I totaly missed bear form quest I should have done at level 10. Opsies
