Stealth Camping Behind Billboard

- Things finally fell into place and I found my dream stealth camping billboard. I've been searching for years and finally found the perfect one to camp behind. I made it back from the ill-fated trip to the coast, I only got half way there before the floods washed out all the highways connecting the interior to the coast. I will have to make another camping trip as soon as things are back to normal and roads are reopened.

Steve is the undisputed hide and seek champion. Even though no one is looking for him.
best kind of hide and seek, lol.
Just when you think you've found him, all you find is a litter free area.
Shh! Don't tell @SteveWallis !
"If you lived here, you'd be home by now"
Weell, he really took that sign literally lol!
🤣
He sure did 😂🙂
I love how paranoid Steve gets. Think about it. To get rumbled a motorist driving at probably 70mph about 100 metres away would have to spot a green hammock under a green tarp behind a camo net in dense forest through a 1 metre gap. All while driving looking at the road in front of them not looking for anything by the sign.
After all that they would then have to decide to stop and do something about it.
You're fine Steve!

to be fair, finding perfectly stripped carcass doesn’t mean “bear”, but there’s a good chance of it meaning “ant nest”
Gotta say Steve's constant fear of bears makes me feel better about my own bearanoia
Love the "Bearanoia"! I think I also suffer from it. I know it is needlessly too.
I live in Australia. Our animals are mostly harmless. No bears or cougars. We have to watch out for deadly snakes. There's only crocodiles in the far north.
The hunker down foundation. "Helping others in need to hunker down." Would be a cool chairty to start ❤
Hunker Down Society looking out for one and all!
"THE HUNKER DOWN FOUNDATION"!!! . Such a fitting title for these times.
Ok so its the "Hunker Down Foundation", but can we add the phrase "Looking out for one and all." somewhere in there?
Imagine the value Steve and Crazy Neighbor could provide with that type of money. Custom pontoon boats and buses, tree houses, hours of entertainment that'd make the USO envious ...
@@r_kuhl Maybe even get a deal with various camping suppliers. Get Hennessy hammock involved as a good portion of his stealth camping involves their hammock.

Steve has one of the few channels where i can go back and re-watch old videos at any time and still enjoy them as much as the first time
As a matter of fact.. I DID enjoy watching a grown man sleeping behind a billboard.. and so I subscribed.
You are a damn good man Steve Wallis. The fact that you're remodeling a house, paying rent at an apartment in the city, and funding your RUclips page you still stepped up and made a sizable donation to a good cause in inspiring. I know people have said it before but this channel it's not really all about the camping. In addition to your monetary donations, you provide people of the world over with a moment of Zen every week and for that we are grateful.
That's why he got a stye tho, doing to much over stressing and not sleeping, that's why you get them they suck to if you haven't had one..
My thoughts exactly! A very generous empathetic guy. Steve, if only the World had more people like you...
Very true, and you can see he has a good heart. I miss that a lot in people, besides that whenever I now get into a "tricky" situation on the road, I always remember Steve... there's always a way and that relaxes my anxiety a lot. He probably doesn't fully realize that he actually makes a difference for some people.

Man still finds time to donate and help others out, that's a good man
Anyone else notice how Steve never took his eyes off that bottle cap to make sure he didn't lose it? You're such a breathe of fresh air Steve in a world full of smog. Keep hunkering down, and I'll forever watch.

Seriously I'd take survival advise from a homeless person over an internet survival expert. Speaking from experience you learn a lot of unconventional yet simple knowledge when life gives you a trial.

I wanna be that guy too helping out others struggling. But I gotta get myself successful first in school. It's hard to survive in Michigan anymore when you're poor and deaf. Hey, Steve! Was telling one of my brother in laws about your channel, and he told me that when he was traveling and needed to sleep in his car, he would park in a hospital emergency room parking lot because people assume that you have a love one in the hospital and need sleep. I'm a drifter. About 4 years ago, I was in Idaho Falls, ID (beautiful town). It was early March, so the nights were still fairly cold. I was there a little over two weeks.
The entire time, I camped under a large evergreen (spruce, I think... ?), the branches went all the way to the ground. But, just beyond the outer branches, closer to the trunk, it was fairly open and spacious. I spent about 30 minutes chopping down dead branches from the interior, and clearing out debris, both of which I used to camouflage myself. I was about 20 feet from a busy downtown road.
This video reminded me if that experience. I had a little concealed fire in a coffee can, a tarp to keep the drizzling rain, falling leaves and bird poo off me... lol. There was a train track behind me, and must have been a yard nearby. Each morning the same guy would walk the track, and we'd talk for a few minutes. Share stories about life on the road.
It was a great time. Good memory. Thanks for reminding me.

I did this some years ago on the University grounds in Vancouver... camped right behind the "No Camping" sign. Never got bothered...
I found the 'camping with steve' map marker on Google Maps within seconds of zooming in on Hinton. That is just too funny.
Steve I know you get it a lot but you're one of the good ones mate. Thanks buddy
Steve, I appreciate that you wish to help others reach step one. Helping others get to step two means we can enjoy it that much more.
Steve - you break my heart man! You're a great dude! I'm homeless, sleeping in my car in CT, I've gotten out of my situation in the past, but as I'm older, I find it more and more difficult to get back in touch with society (losing faith) but watching you, ask your followers to defer donating to you, has immediately brought me back into realizing that there has to be other real, caring, good hearted people like yourself that REALLY DO care, and are not just saying it to impress on social media just! I was beginning to dislike my fellow human because, of how I'm treated just asking for a 10¢, not even a quarter, like how dare I ask for a handout. I hate that I have to, but nobody will hire me, when I have one set of clothes, can't shower, and just use my car as shelter. It doesn't start, because I don't have gas. But enough about me! I just want you to know Steve, that you saved me from giving up, you showed me, that if I continue to try, there's still people like yourself out there to enjoy the rest of my life with. Thank Steve!!! I don't know you but, just also want to say I send you all my respect and love, man! YOU are a tremendous individual!
I'm in a similar situation or was until a month ago. My elderly parents asked me to come stay with them and help them but I was staying in a tent in a stealthy spot on some public land. In my town there are a few free pantries so I never worried about food but it can get kinda depressing sometimes nonetheless. Hang in there, brother. I'll be praying for you.
@@punishedmatteson7108 I appreciate it man! Seeing this video, then you comment, couldn't have come at a better time for me! Thanks!
@@Sakratic heck yeah man! Have a good evening and remember you're special even if nobody has told you in awhile.
What part of CT are you in? I'm originally from New Haven. Now I'm in upstate NY. I'm hoping to figure out some way to help. If you PM me with any information so I can send you a package I can at least send you some clothes. Maybe I can figure out something to improve your situation.
@@gundoctor4312 hey man, appreciate your reply. Would have pm you but I couldn't figure out how to or find any info on your RUclips channel. I'm currently in the Stamford area so Lower Fairfield county. Are you on any other social media platforms which allows PMs?
Steve you are a true gentleman. The world needs more Steve Wallis's. Take care buddy.
I laughed out loud at this so funny: "The billboard says 'If you lived here you'd be home by now' - I take that as permission."
I love how you made the billboard message “ironic” : )
