Hot Tent Camping In A Blizzard | ASMR

- In this video I go hot tent camping in a blizzard! This was my first time hot tent camping in a blizzard like this. The weather forecast called for 12 inches (30 cm) of snow and wind gusts of 40-50 mph (64-80 kph). I hiked through knee deep snow for two miles (3.2 km) to reach my camp. It took nearly 3 hours with the bad weather! When I arrived at the lake I found it was frozen over and the wind was absolutely howling! I set up my new Ankhiale Outdoors Zeta 1 hot tent and hunkered down for the night. The wind and snow only got worse through the night and into the morning. This was an incredibly windy trip and I'm glad my hot tent kept me safe! I hope you enjoy this crazy video!

Only sounds of nature and wind!
Thanks for not adding background music, no talking and keeping video as original 🙏👌🏻best best
Well said, I despise background music and never sub to any channels that use it.
I agree. Love the ASMR. Hate the ones with music and where the campers seem to love the sound of their own voices.
agree mate
Aggree, love the sound of the wind and trees 💨
Well said
I have total respect for you. I really enjoyed watching this. I am an old lady now. While watching you it took me back to my camping days in Scotland. My how things have improved over the years, your kit is amazing. Well done, and thanks for making an old lady happy.
I’m just an old guy that has camped a lot, but what is his point for being there?
Good question.
@@8Throtl1 I believe the point is that it’s good for our mental health to challenge ourselves in what ever way works for us. I admire that man it took real grit to camp in a blizzard, and without a word being spoken he got the message across that if you are going to camp in extreme weather conditions you have to have the correct kit.
@@user-zw3bg9vr5g I was really impressed with his gear, but the first question that came to my mind was, “What weight was his pack?” Having a buddy along would have lightened the load a little. I did enjoy the blizzard sounds, but I think I would have enjoyed a little talking. I couldn’t have done it without talking. And after all that, I think I would have stayed at least 2 nights. Over all..
👍🏻👍🏻 Hike on!
@@8Throtl1 I think the man might be either Military or ex Military ? He is obviously a thrill seeker and as fit as a fiddle. We are all different, I personally enjoyed the no talking.
I am amazed that one person can carry all of that equipment and make a comfortable dwelling to spend the night in. The little wood burning stove is a marvellous piece of compact design. Then the camper leaves the area without a visible trace of a human having been there (except for basic needs). Thanks so much for sharing your adventure!
You don't know how far he trekked from his vehicle to the campsite. The distance could be only 30 meters or less.
I enjoyed the video regardless of where he came from to where he arrived to camp! I like this video. I am 81 years old with two steel knees and very grateful that I can walk am not in a wheelchair. I appreciate people sharing their adventures with such vitality and endurance!
Amazing what people didn't kniw 50 years ago. I'm too old now but these videos are very resourceful for campers & hikers ! Thank you fir the serenity as well😊
Retaining original sound with no background music is indeed good to watch..That roaring natural gust sound makes us feel the same intensity of weather condition you go through...feel like being in same situation..
I love hearing the sounds of the wind and watching without other background distractions. Relaxing to watch.
I Love listening to the wind. It's so beautiful you can only see it threw the grass and the trees thrw your hair. I use to wash my hair and walk threw the feilds to let the wind dry it. God made the wind soo magnificent. It's Amazing.
I totally agree

Thank you! I wish you same too!
Same to you.
I have a 12" X 12" log cabin in the woods that I built. My favorite thing to do is to go there when there is a snow storm and light the wood stove. , heavy wind is a bonus. I like what you are doing.
I've been camping when I wore a younger man's clothes. I love watching the video because it's very soothing. Now that I'm in the Autumn of my life, my idea of roughing it is a five star hotel with only white wine
My idea of roughing it is to leave the microwave home.
These guys are veterans at it. Their calm and cool demeanour speaks volumes.
No, its his first time, and he hasn't got a clue!
yeah - looks like a total newbie. He didn't even stake down his tent after his fly blew away. Looked like he was cold the whole time!
Why doesn't he take enough wood into the tent, close it, saw and split the wood inside and start lighting the stove with the first logs?
He takes a lot of kit for just a coffee
What a totally absorbing video by a skilled adventurer.. You'd want him alongside if stranded on a deserted island.
The whole coffee roasting and brewing stuff is beautiful. I would just bring some good coffee.
When I was younger, I used to really enjoy snow camping! I had a small but sturdy three-person, four-season tent suitable for blizzards. It was roomy with just two people and came with a perfectly-sized vestibule for donning/doffing boots and outer garments and letting them dry out overnight.
I learned that finding the right gear doesn't require a large budget. Even today, I wouldn't break $1,500 for everything I own, tents, camping gear and clothes, as I bought most of it used.
My favorite tent is three-season, but with a full rain fly. I used it for snow camping many times as it sets up in literally minutes, about five, including stakes. My wife and I set it up in the pouring rain with high winds. That time, I think I managed to get it up in less than three minutes.
In solo survival situations, I prefer to use a bivy sack sleeping system, as I can use it both inside a tent and on its own. One time, when the temp dropped to -18 deg F, I said, "To heck with the tent!" and just dived into the system and slumbered away.
Well-equipped and experienced camper ( survivalist ) makes it look like a piece of cake to be in a snow blizzard. Thanks for the demonstration.😅
He is not experienced: that is perfectly clear from the description above. He's a virgin!
@@KiltoonieIn the description he said he said that he'd never been camping "in a blizzard like this", not that he'd never been camping in a blizzard. Given his equipment and the efficiency of his setup it's quite obvious that he isn't a novice, or a virgin, as you so crudely put it.
He's actually a beginner with a lot of mistakes, and it looked like he was freezing the whole time!
I would’ve temporarily pegged it down when it was blowing away
Never in my life have i seen someone hand roast their own coffee beans while camping. My jaw dropped. Dude has the dream set-up. Earned a sub from me
Dude is SERIOUS about his coffee roasting, grinding his own beans and then the coffee press... I was just saying... I couldn't do my coffee without cream and BAM! HE WHIPS OUT THE CREAM 😂😂😂 Total rock star right here

Bardzo dobra uwaga Bracie!
You’re a patient man but exactly how long did it take to setup everything coz it seems like an awfully long time.
As a non-camper, I can't begin to say how invested I became in watching a guy pitch a tent in a blizzard and then all the gadgets he had to get by! Superb video, thanks!

It was very inspiring. I was fascinated throughout ...just couldn't believe what I was seeing. And all that stuff in a big backpack. Unbelievable. Very cool.
The atmospheric conditions were most unfavourable - but the tent and stove performed admirably !
i will never understand tents without floors!
And I’ll never understand people who camp in weather like that…brrrr. 😆 had to bundle up in my winter blanket
Hot tent with stove, much safer to not have a floor. Snow melts and will seep into the ground rather than creating a puddle under the tent. You absolutely want to have a flat surface with a stove inside.
why would snow puddle under tent and not seep into the ground?@@lothilear
@@paulgargulak8275 earth around the stove (if snow is shallow enough) will thaw a bit and allow melt to go into ground in the first inch or two. In a closed tent it potentially runs a bit and is between the ground and the fabric creating a bit of moisture wicking farther away from the fire. Tents without floors are also lighter and you don't have to worry about melting the plastic under the hot stove.
Me either all tents need a floor
Starts setting up mid afternoon, gets the fire going by 12:17am 👌 I love it
A lot of unnecessary usage of energy. Very dangerous in a blizzard situation.
Too big a tent in the first place.

VERY impressed! Having grown up camping and hiking in Alaska, then six years in the Marines doing the same thing. This guy has his act together big time. I remember my first deep snow camping we was 16 years old my friend and I layed of of school in February in Metro Atlanta and took off to the chattooga river burls ford not a cloud in the sky when we went to bed, frozen by morning the tent was caved in and it snowed 2 feet over night, never seen snow over 6 inches until then. Everything is the camp was lost dug it all out built a big fire and moved the tent under a big hemlock. our gallon of milk, and canned food was frozen solid. we heated up rocks too stay warm at night with, and camped for about 5 days. It was alsome.
The world's most labor-intensive and expensive coffee and breakfast! Looks fun though and I can't imagine the peace and serenity along with the violent winds outside. Superb!

We did a lot of this in the north woods of Upper Michigan in the forties and fifties . We didn’t have these new type of tents and equipment . We had those old army shelter halves that became pup tents . We would build a wind break from the spruce trees in the area and used the large trees as the poles . It worked quite well and we never got blown away . We had a lot of fun doing this , winter and summer .

Thank you for sharing your amazing adventure. Watching from Southern California 👍🔥☃️🍳🍞🫕⚒️🪓
