One of the most perfect bikes I have ever ridden. Genius project even today!
I have a 2016 Versys 1000 GT. It does everything. It's done 47,000 miles and still going strong 12 months of the year.
In this segment, performance is a consideration but not getting stranded is more important. For me, the Versys, Super Tenere, and Africa Twin are the options.
Exactly and for normal riders that missing* performance is something they would never use because frankly the don't want to lose their license. The Versys 120 Horses will get you into trouble easily enough on it's own if you let it.
KAWASAKI for sure.
I'm buying today Versys 1000 S 2021 !!!
This bike is my next bike !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My 2020 Harley 48 is History!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im with ya 😭
Reliability, dependability, ease of service when needed and excellent global support.... Definitely a great value from Kawasaki...... I would definitely pick this over the Duc and Katoom... Those bikes cost more than only money... Broken down with no dealer to be found can really upset your day and trip. This is a very good bike love that sound 😁👍
Service is very worst on southindia authorized service centre's
A fully kitted out Tiger 900 isn't much cheaper when full luggage is added, I think I'd take the Kawasaki
Thanks Bob! Great content as always. Green for me! However your comparison (based on price) compares it with two other bikes that Kawasaki already offer to compete with a much higher hp output. For me, this will be aimed at “older” riders, who possibly have already had the experience with high output engines and now want a “mile muncher” to tour on, while still offering tech to enable him or her to still be able to push it through the twisties if they choose. Just my humble thoughts. Keep the great work coming! 👍😎
I had the '15 Versys 1000 and it did EVERYTHING well, but not fantastic. Power is plentiful for one person and very controllable. I believe that the new "S" spec, along with the Grand Touer version, should make it near PERFECT!
I would definitely go for the Kawasaki.Dependable and can be worked on yourself all that in one package.
VERSYS 1000 SE !!!!!
THE BEST BIKE ON THE PLANET ... ;-))
i think versys 1000 is very underrated it mostly get overshadowed from the africa twin and triumph tiger and i think it needs more publicity
Sshhh, don't tell anyone. We want to keep the price down.
To be honest I was surprised at how well appointed it is when I was researching this vid. Looks like a lot of bike for the money and although the engine isn't the most powerful, it's plenty enough to get the job done
@@electroniccheeks 😂😂yaa right
@@motobob yaa nobody goes racing on adventure tourers the power is ample
a relaxed comfortable safe ride any day KAWASAKI all the way but i am 60
Still plenty of go in that engine when you're feeling frisky. Even at 60 :)
For the money, with all you get on a fully loaded Versus, I would buy that over a Ducati or KTM any day. And I’m a Ducati rider.
Anything over 120 hp is a bit irrelevant IMO. A touring bike should have plenty of torque but you don't need it to have sports bike power unless your riding to the nurburgring! If I was getting a tourer it would have to be very comfortable, fairly economical and able to pull 2 people and luggage easily and smoothly at low revs. 50 years ago people had no problem touring on 40bhp 500s! (Edit: I've just been mentally slapped by my younger self for getting old 😅 )
exactly
Versys had plenty of power for what is designed for, if you want more it is easy to gain another 20hp.
Versys is far more comfortable, reliable and cheaper to maintain than the European competitors
Happy to hear where the extra 20hp can be found. In the Akrapovic end cap its not to be found. Maybe replacing whole excaust but then possible noice levels and road legal is under discussion. Let me know, i like the Versys but do feel its under powered.
@@ksmha15 After a quick google search, looks like a tuner and pipe get the job done for 20 more hp. have no way to verify this though.
You could put in the Ninja 1000 version of the motor, if you have the cash to burn.
Reliability matters in a tourer. Kawasaki all the way.
100% definitely yes. Better than bmw too.
Quick note: The Ducati Multistrada 1260 is also equipped with the Skyhook electronic suspensions and , beside the more power and torque, it cost way more than the Versys starting at 22.500Euro plus luggages and other options...
Congrats on hitting 100k subscriber 👏👍
Thanks for your support and now I have just hit the 1000 subscribers 😀 😊
Kawasaki probably has better quality than KTM or Ducati 🙄
For sure!
Yes
Definitely. Japanese quality is the best.
Can't beat japanese quality
Huh? probably?? No, Kawasaki surely has better the build quality than KTM and especially than Ducati
SE grand tourer top end top spec all day any day and nights 🙏
i'd pick comfort over 160hp, meaning specced Versys.
With a ECU flash and a couple upgrades I wonder what you could get the verseys up to
I own a 2008 Kawasaki Concours that I bought new. Great bulletproof reliable bike, and what makes it far better, is shaft drive without the jacking as the engineers have now figured that out. This Versys is a great bike, but I’m not messing with a chain at this price point. Everything this Versys has, a Yamaha FJR has without the high maintenance chain. If I upgrade, it’s goodbye Kawasaki and hello Yamaha. If Kawasaki puts the same tech into their Concours as the latest fully optioned Versys, I’ll stay with Kawasaki.
Is his the identical “Skyhook” Ducati uses?
When I retire , I planed on touring the U.S.A as a retirement gift to my self . Sorry Harley I like you for you are but in the preformance relm this bike surpasses .
Versys 100%
! No need for 160 hp on the street. For that take it to the track
I don’t get it. In the states we get one model with one color. Which is the red one.
the accessories will do it for me, tourer spec,
kawasaki se versys 1000 grand tourer every day . own versys 1000 2016 model
Looks attractive! New color schemes are a welcome change !
I’m not overly aggressive, so I’ll pick a Versys over a KTM or a Ducati..
I had a Multistrada Enduro which swapped for the Versys. The Ducati is just too massive and costly to run. The Versys has a fantastic engine and more than enough usable power.
I considering to buy the multi 1200 endurp or the 950..Except the expensive servise you was happy from the bike?
Thanks
Hi there, I’ve have now ended up with both the Enduro and a 2012 Versys. Both bikes are excellent. Obviously you pay a lot for Ducati service but the big one is only every 18000 miles.
Nice video, here in Brazil the versys 1000 reign alone, coz theres no KTM and the Multistrada 1260 its 40% expensive.
Great info. I wanted to buy one (standard edition in 2019) but in the end went with the Vstrom 1000 XT. I just love Vtwin engines and 19 inch front. I would love to see Kawasaki build such a bike since I love their quality. For me best Japanise brand.
what actually the word "premium" bike means? because as I see it it means "overpriced, unreliable and overrated by journalists" LOL
Great review, its a bike I'm very tempted by. I've just had my 2020 Tiger 900 RP written off. So this is on the list for a replacement, if I'm to be honest with myself its long distance touring that I love to do, I'm just getting too old for this off road adventure stuff.
I own a 2007 1600 Vulcan Nomad and its got 104,000km on it so I now how good the Kawasakis are. I'd go the SE for sure love the tech.
Nice review, would like to hear your thoughts on the 650 in a future vid maybe?
Currently I own a Multistrada 1200 s , but will consider the Kawi if it had atleast 20 more HP.
I liked all the new tech in it.
How about that V4 though? Really nice tech on that bike.
If you want reliable one pick the Kawa
The electronic suspension is what I'm most interested in, so I'd still stick with the SE, though good on Kawi for offering that S model too now. While I have considered the Versys 1000 pretty hard as an option this year, I'm not sure I'd ultimately go for it. As a tourer, I'd rather get the Goldwing (probably an older used 5th gen in my case as new wings are quite pricey), and as an everyday fun bike, I'd rather get anything else with more poke (sport bike, supermoto, etc). Still, it's a tempting offer and at the right (discounted) price, I'd still consider it.
There is a problem with rear suspension. It is unserviseble witch means, that you have to buy new one after 50.000km or so. In case of semiactive the cost is way over 1.5k eur. Otherwise a great bike.
If you want utility, practicality, and bang for buck... go with the fully-loaded Versys. If you're going for more Thrills and cool Factor, go with the KTM or Ducati
Sound like good bikes. As ever, I'd go for the base model, as I don't like what I perceive to be unnecessary technology. For a 3,500 GBP saving, you could get a good secondhand KTM Duke 390, which is what I've just done ... without the new Kawa. Haha!
Kawasaki Versys S... Good mid way!!
kawasaki overall have very good pricing for what u can get, I'm on Versys 650 used daily in all weather conditions ,always start first time 0 prolems with a bike
What you suggest between 2021 S and 2020 SE(+800€)?
Very Nice 👍
Well done on the subs .
So what is new?
Had a 2015 for over 56k miles. Great do it all bike. Personally, I'd skip all the whizbangery and save that money for tires, gas, and motel rooms.
Inovative tech
Will be interesting to see how it compares in price to the new Multistrada V4. I’ll wait for that before I make a decision.
Why! Kawasaki vs Ducati. It's a no brainer in the K's favour. They do not break if maintained properly. I know I own 2 of them a 1976 Z900 and a1996 ZZR 1100. Between the 2 of them they have covered 15000p miles
If helps, i have previus Versys model, have done 86.000km with no problems, only by book maintenence.
@@afenijmeijer9027 Agreed I have 2007 Vulcan Nomad 1600 with 104,000lm and runs like a dream.
Multi anyday..In Germany starts from 20k..Versys is a very good bike but multi is sonething else...
If you compare the Versys SE GT spec to the Multistrada 1260 Tour + top case it comes out nearly 20k thats £3500 difference and can you really use all the power of the Multstrada on the Road. The Versys is the better option for especially the new improved S version in Black with the Tour pack. Already spoken to my local dealer.
Needs more Horse should be 140PS min
Versys 1000S sounds the best value and practicality....
If they did the S without the shifter I'd be happy to buy.
@@cpuuk You can always use the clutch lever and bypass the quick-shifter, no?
@@darylclifford You can turn it off, but you still paid for it.
Looks awesome but I’m always a bit 😬 when it comes to LED/LCD display screens and app interfaces. That’s probably because all my bikes are 22 years plus, key in the ignition and go, do I still use my trusty Nokia 3110 and windows 98 on my Time ™️ Computer? God no. I don’t even think current Blue tooth gadgets works in older mobile phones from 15 years ago 🤔
I like keys and wish mobile phone technology would just get lost.
@@LTLT900 Ironically there’s an app (find my phone) that prevents mobile phones from getting lost. Cheers 🥂
If only it wasn't 257kg in weight. If it was about 30kg less then the power to weight ratio would be more impressive !
I owned a 2015 model, was a great reliable bike but a tiny bit underpowered in my opinion. Pulled great from low in the rev range for an inline four but ran out of steam when pushing on against a BMW R1200GS. Hoped they would increase power but it's not to be.
Congratulations on the 100K subs, Guess RUclips will be sending one of those play buttons to hang on the wall.
Multistrada V4S .
Kawasaki's flagship, should have a supercharger, what do you think?
Horsepower cost money and reliability. This understressed and time tested inline four should last longer than the constantly changing engine layouts and implementation of new hardware and software in the exotics.
Top bikes but too much electronics. However that is what the market demands.
What’s the problem with that?
@@phenomeny7 99.9 % of people who buy these high tech bikes will not use the full range of electronics these bikes have at their disposal. But hey, the choice is there for people to enjoy.
@@afenijmeijer9027 I must be that 0.01 % then I love and use all thebtech in my Tiger 900, sadly though I binned it and its been written off, so now searching for a replacement.
@@Spad562 Enjoy brother. Thats what bikes are for.
I came within a gnat's whisker of buying the 2020SE, but held off to see what else might be coming in November. Was hoping they'd tweak the engine and release more of the 140HP it holds naturally, but nope, so I think the Kwak is over-priced but a great bike.
I own a se and it is worth every penny!
Having owned a z1000sx it's a peach of an engine (albeit this model has been de-tuned, but easily upped back to 140bhp). It's a compact bike but the ergo's are very comfortable. I'd want all the toys but with the Duke V4 about to rear it's ugly head... it may pay to hold on a while longer if you're about to commit! The Z can be a little vibey at times however, but pillion comfort is very good (if that's important)?! Reliability from Kwaker is excellent but they do start to rust quickly (and I've no doubt that remains true).
Rust, I've a 2007 Vulcan Nomad and not spec of rust at all
This colour scheme is not nice old green colour scheme is looks much better
I would never buy a Ducati. Or a KTM. The reliability of the Japanese bikes is amazing. Say you bought a European bike. Then you spec it out with all the bells and whistles the Kawasaki has. You've just spent an additional 3 grand. At least. What's the point?
It's not exactly a looker... IMHO
Kawasaki styling is always divisive! I don't mind this one
@@motobob same me I thinks looks good
they haven't changed what should really be changed: replace chain drive for shaft drive. this is the reason I don't buy one.
beleza
Just short of 40bhp
Keks 😂
Multistrada with the same package comes at 22K. But Versys lack at least +25HP.
Ktm
I had the cash, I bought the 2020 Versys 1000 SE. Currently have 12k km on it, but, and it is a big BUT the bike has a really big issue: engine stalling. Had my side stand sensor replaced (as this is the reason why it does that according to the dealer) but the problem still persists. In my book this is not a reliable bike and this one is a BIG issue that can cause serious accidents. I am sorry but Kawasaki has failed miserably with this model and give the japanese bike a bad reputation
Three super ugly bikes? No good looking options? Hmm... I think I'll keep my money then.
