You're completely right in all essence there is no real need for this video. But happy you shared I started flying acro from day 1 it's just like learning how to go from 3-4 channel radio. Try on a sim once or twice get the sticks down and then just practice. I think a lot of people are afraid of crashing or going too fast. start slow and small exactly how you showed in this video. You'll get comfortable and start moving up at your own pace.
Dear RCAddict, I've seen tutorials mentioning that it is convinient to use air mode in conjunction with acro mode. What is your opinion in relation to this? Do you use this combination??? Regards!!!! Francisco
That's a LOT better than just trying to hover for 20 batteries like most tutorials tell you to do. Obviously you will learn better control by bringing it to a stop and changing direction, etc. Thanks for this tutorial.
I learned LOS with a syma x5. Played acro with the sim. Tons of research, videos.... 2 months later I built a qwad, bought goggles, have been flying acro. I'm hooked. I still enjoy LOS flying very much!!
Since watching your 2 vids i went out and flew better los than ever. Pretty much watched them and was better. I won't even use yaw before to not change orientation . Im new and this helped alot. Thank you.
Gotta say, for info I go to Bardwell, for engineering I go to kabab, for flight I go to you. Almost 2 months in and my 30+ surface vehicles sit. Thanks for the tutorials.
Los acro tutorials is the thing that is missing from youtube man! There are a ton of tutorials learning acro in fpv but in los wich is the first thing someone has to learn and basic skill I can't find much. Good job man! Please upload more..
Very good explanation and demonstration. For all of you who want to learn acro mode,it's much better to start with a simulator first, for two main reasons really. 1. Even though the drone is a toy,it's extremely dangerous, the slightest disorientation can turn into a really bad situation,if you lose control, the drone can turn into a weapon. The props spinning at such a great speed can cause severe damage,I'm not going to go into details ,but you can imagine what it can do to your face or other parts of your body and of course it can be danger to others as well. 2. It could be very expensive to start the "real thing" right away.If you just go straight for the real drone, prepare for a very disappointing experience. If you keep crashing the drone,it will not take too many crashes before the need for reparation. I know that what I wrote "sounds" terrible, but it's the honest truth and it's for your own good as well as others'.
i have to admit, this is 1 of my favourite video to watch when i started learning acro. its been 1 week now and cant believe how much this simple but almost detail video teach me. Thank you Bro.
Practicing now. Enough angle mode. Man is acro a hard flight controller for muscle memory. Just another reason why anyone who flies can appreciate just how great you are. Excellent teacher also
I've flown level mode for about 2 years and advanced from cheap toy brushed quads to more advanced brushless, but always have been in awe of acro mode pilots. Especially race videos. I have RealFlight Drone sim and am starting to practice acro mode. Your video is a real help. Many thanks and keep the pointy end forward and the shiny side up!
I know it's a matter of practice, but in FPV acro is totally natural to me. Time on a sim helped. But aircraft (real ones), are just rate mode. You roll into a bank at a rate determined by the stick pressure, neutralize when you're where you want, and then roll it back to straight and level (or where ever). Self leveling would horrify me. But the first thing a flight instructor shows a student is an airplane's natural stability. The absence of that in a quad, and the orientation difficulties blows my mind. "Soft ground" is a great tip. LOL I think this video does need to be made because it gives a nice methodical approach to channel your practice time. Which I need to bite the bullet and get experience. LOS YOU ARE A WIZARD. Your high performance quad videos are completely amazing. Flying a little spec. Great!
Yepp, definitely have angle mode on a switch ready to go! Saved me from a crash yesterday. I'm just trying to learn pitch and roll control right now so when I couldn't recover from a barrel roll because a gust of wind made me lose orientation I just switched to angle mode and throttled up. I feel like angle mode is a must when learning acro as long as you don't depend on it too heavily.
There is a significant need for this video. Watch a brand new quad flyer fly in acro LOS. 5 second maximum flight time. Than they dont want to fly again. EXCELLENT video very detailed. Previous commentor said about a sim and thats a very good idea! And I would like to see a video about setting slow rates, if I have not missed it already. Best Acro LOS videos I have seen. I smash up my quad over two weeks flying in a warehouse for 10 batteries after work every evening. to get competent in acro. If you dont know orientation or are brand new use horizon till you like your flying. Then switch to acro and learn that you have to pull back below centre on pitch to turm without nose diving into the floor.
You helped me a lot. As an intermediate pilot, your reconfirmed a lot of what I already knew. But as far as having to manually readjust to your previous stick input clicked inside my head and I have a Breyer understanding of acro mode. I’m about to step up to a racer and this was a big help.
Well I’m glad you made this video because people like me just getting into racing quads don’t know all about angle mode or any of the other modes in beta flight and I sure don’t so please keep making these teaching videos like this cause there will always be a need for teaching tools like this one. I wish someone will make a video for setting up angle mode on beta flight and then take it outside and then show us what the quad does in angle mode and in acro mode etc, because there is people that needs to learn and we can only do that by being taught by people like you and everyone that does fly now at one time they didn’t know how or what at all. Thank you very much sir.
@@jodroboxes Yeah if your video ever just dies ur screwed... I feel the same way.... Although I can't afford FPV goggles anyway an have yet to even try FPV mode xD But the shit you can do LOS freestyle is FAR better and more awesome to see than FPV freestyle. In fact FPV should stick with races and cool building dives... freestyle FPV is more geared toward the pilot and less for the audience IMO. Some shit is really cool like diving through small gaps and some other things.... but compared to freestyle in LOS, FPV can't even hold a candle to the awesomeness.
I definetly recommand all fpv acro beginners to learn on a pc simulator with your usb radio like "FPV Freerider". really save you many crashes and YES you will learn and take it all in real life. just take it slow in real life after some hours in the simulator.
Quadest I can't fly LoS Acro in a SIM for some reason I can can hover and do some basic moves in Acro mode LoS with my real quad but in SIM its weird just feels so different.
Sure, the flight charateristics are very different, depend on the quad and the wind ect... FPV Freerider is a pretty good one for learning: Acro and high rates on is nice to give you an idea what you are going to fly (Real quad is actually much faster but you definetly cant fly acro for the first time without destroying it) and the simulator is a must have for the people who have never flown acro and are about to build a race quad for the first time to have some fun doing nice fast moves and recording videos, its really better to try in the simulator first so they can learn the basics before they go out and crash after 3 seconds with so much power.
I loved the simulator when I was brand new for sure, because I cant afford to buy a bunch of mini quads and other at first, just have enough to get what I need to fly right, so I used sims a lot in place of starter quads.
Not so sure about LOS sims. Haven't tried in a while, but I can't fly LOS on any of them...I wouldn't say it is good to practice on, but to just understand what the sticks do first yeah.
No need to apologize bro im just starting out, i pick up the tinyhawk whoop and i learned alot from this video i had no idea how acro worked i was out of control and i watch this video a few times and now i can do everything you demonstrated in 2 days..thanks bro..
This is an excellent tutorial in every way. From a performance standard you spoke very clearly, had good pace, and were concise while still being very informative. As far as your teaching methodology, it is really fantastic. I have recently been learning acro with tiny whoops and small brushless quads, and this video would have made a huge difference in how fast I could have understood what was going on with them in flight in the 3 modes. I am subscribing and really looking forward to learning more from you. Thanks for the lesson and the thought you put into it!
I bought four different 20$ to $40 quads that did flips, 2 speed etc. and flew them in my house for about 6 months. Totally crashed and beat the crap out of them at first but I got the idea. I just got back from throwing $200 up in the air for the first time. MAN! What a blast!! Crashed it 3 times but at least I knew to kill it instead of freezing up. What I can say is, the tall soft grass saved my quad and all that practice paid off. Super Fun! and damn scary a few times haha.
Thanks for giving some lights about acro mode. I want to start using acro mode, but had no clue about what to expect, but now i understand a little more and i think it will be more easy for me. Keep making videos like this, because i think there's more people like me, that arrived to the hobbie and doesn't have anyone to learn from. So... keep the good work.
Thanks :) Currently planning on 3 parts, part 2 more general stuff, and then 3 more advanced "tricks", but I will see where it goes. Obviously huge interest for it on my channel haha.
Just subscribed, great video. I'm starting flying quads and I found LOS more difficult than FVP, but I feel more confortable trying new things like throttle control LOS. I thought that LOS was not important if my final goal is fvp, your video inspired me to keep trying and learning LOS. I have good control of my quad if it is in front of me, once I turn it is really really hard, but my brain is starting to get it. Thanks again for this tutorial. Keep it coming!
With my ancient eyesight, different colour props or lights don't really help with orientation. What does help is to put a fin on the model. Maybe I've been flying fixed wing too long.
Hi, I'm just beginning my journey of line of sight quad flying. I've been flying FPV now for a few years and fancy another learning curve.......... Thanks for the info
Great video! I have been trying to talk myself into taking the training wheels off my quads and to start flying in manual mode. I'm going to watch your videos....maybe several times....and then jump in...thank you!
Nice video. Helps a lot. I'm new to quads from cars and boats and didn't realise that if you nudge the stick the position doesn't return when then the stock springs back. NOW I KNOW why when I hover it's been a constant battle. Thanks
Great video. I always tell beginners with orientation issues to do this. Point the quad in the direction you want to go, press forward on the stick. Seems to help.
Best description of this that I’ve found. Would have been nice to have had this video back in the mid 80s when I first started flying fixed wing gas models. It would have saved me some money. Great job!!!
Excellent tutorial. I’m wondering if the YAW control acts the same, in that, if you YAW say left, and release to center, does the quad continue to YAW left?
Yaw stops. Think of it as the quad want's to stay in the 3d angle you left it, so turned 90 deg left and let off it wants to stay turned left, so it will stop turning.
The RCAddict - Okay, so the yaw control acts no different in acro as that of angle? Although I’ve never flown in acro, because I don’t have an acro quad, based off your explanation, I totally get what you’re saying on how the roll will continue to roll till you stop it. I would much rather have that type of control! So, in acro, if you make a bank turn to the right, as the quad completes that turn, it would continue to roll to the right if you never corrected for it? BTW, buying a Dormida Ominus as a first acro quad, unless you might have some better advice?!!
No, it holds the angle you leave it at, it doesn't continue at that rate. In acro you control the velocity of change on that axis, so zero stick input means zero velocity for that axis.
Thanks, this video helped a lot, but my drone doesn't act like you describe at 6:38. When changing yaw left and right, the pitch doesn't stay forward in regards to the drone's orientation. For example, when I'm flying away from myself, and yaw left, it stays pitched away from myself, which is now pitched to the right for the drone. HGLRC F440 XJB F4. In betaflight I have it in "air mode." It makes flying extra difficult.
I have the MJX Bugs 3 and it has a large front LED that you can see from quite a distance, I find this is great for orientation. The other obvious way is to watch which way the quad is tilting! Cheers
Just ordered my first fpv goggles, visionplus from hobby king. I am looking forward to starting some fpv flying, I can now fly pretty well LOS with the bugs 3 but struggle to use a monitor doing fpv. I am hoping it's an easier experience with the goggles! Thanks for the great vid!
I actually learned los from some your earlier los toy grade style quads, I moved to hobby grade los and now Ive got some Aomway commanders on the way. Amazing to see how fast you have grown! Keep up the good work bro.
Nice. I'm glad that you also use the "imagine being in the pilot seat". I was always wondering if it's the best apporach or if there's something better.
Thanks RC Addict, I bet that will be the hardest video for you to make considering its second nature to you now. Really looking forward to your next tutorials even if it's just a case of watching your stick cam and you shouting out your manoeuvres. Cheers!
GREAT VIDEO, well explained. Been flying for a few yrs right below acro- you def highlighted all my fears of switching to your level of flying! keepitup! YO!
Learn you range of your quad I have been flying the mjx bugs 3 and the mini I have mastered standard drones manual mode. So trying the tyro 79s like a 3" drone ready for speed very good at line of site.
I have been flying R/C since the 70's and by FAR the thing that confounds beginners to flying ANY sort of model is the pilots fixed position relative to the moving model. The secret to mastering this is so simple that it blows most peoples minds once they figure it out... OK, lets see if I can explain this. When flying away from yourself push the stick(s) in the direction you want to turn, simple enough. When flying back towards yourself , if the model is banked and turning you will need to input opposite roll/yaw to level it out. THIS is what gets every beginner because they are too busy THINKING about it(the model is coming at me, right and left are reversed..oh crap), you don't have time to think about it really and if you get it wrong you will roll the model inverted and then your usually done for the day. So what is the secret? First of all, FORGET about left and right with regard to the model itself, it has wings or rotors, no right or left as far as we are concerned, YOU have a right and a left, reference yourself to the model ONLY, never the other way around. Your NOT inside the model during LOS control so stop trying to imagine you are. When the model is coming at you it will either be wings level, rolling left or rolling right. If it is wings level and on a heading you want, let it fly, if it is in a roll and you want to level it(stop the turn/roll) simply push your roll/yaw input towards the LOWER side. Example, a model is flying towards me and the left wing (the one pointing towards MY left looking at the model) is low, push the sticks to the (again MY left side) LEFT and the model will level out. The only time this doesn't work is when the model is oriented with you so that your directly 90 degrees to the left or right of the model. This really isn't a big deal since most of the time the model is moving forward and as it passes by, you simply transition from viewing it nose on to tail on flying away from you as it fly's past. This always works and once you actually do it the skill will stick in your mind like riding a bike, you never have to think about it or worry about forgetting it.
Excellent and right on time. Thanks a bunch and even answered a few questions I had last night. I have several cheapies that I feel confident with but absolutely need to get more hours in acro. The necessary practice is daunting (especially for someone like me who lives on instant gratification) but only way to get better. Can't give up.
I got my mob 7 like 5 days ago and have only flown inside and on angle mode. It’s kind of weird at first, my fingers couldn’t keep up with my brain and I was flying like a mad man lol. But I can maneuver now really well and sharp, tight turns. I try Acro mode here and there but it trips me out even more in the way that when I pitch forward, then yaw left or right 180 degrees the quad is now on the same angle flying backwards. I’m waiting for the rain to go away so I can go out to a nice grassy area to play around with Acro mode. My Mob7 was BNF FlySky version, I haven’t been able to get connected to betaflight tho. I get some drift to the right, and I can actually use the telemetry stick inputs and get the beep like it’s working. The problem is, the Gyr and Acc calibration inputs give me 3 loud beeps from my location alarm, not the quiet single beeps like it’s supposed to. So I know the telemetry inputs work and are supported, but I don’t actually know if they’re working proper, and after paying around with them for a day now I’m positive they don’t work like the normal Frsky inputs. If anyone knows anything about the FlySky mob7 with the CrazyBee F4 Pro FC telemetry factory inputs, that would be great! I have the FlySky FS-i6X TX by the way.
The RCAddict yours I think would work with telemetry unless on the bigger drones it’s something you have to program in and install a receiver that supports it. But I’ve tried with the subtrims and cause I mostly fly in angle mode it doesn’t do anything. But then if I change to Acro mode it will roll on its own to whichever way I have trimmed. I’m not even sure tho that it’s Acro mode as seeing you fly yours, when you pitched forward it stayed forward while you were yawing and doing the funnel type move. Mine, when I pitch forward it holds that angle, but then if I yaw left or right, the angle stays the same so if I started going forward away from me, then did a 180 turn, so the drone is facing me, it’s the same angle but it’s now pitched backwards and still flying away from me. What flight mode is this?
The RCAddict yea no it’s not.. I can’t get connected to betaflight. Don’t think I have the data cable of that USB type. But so if you were to pitch forward in Acro mode and then do a 180 with the yaw, your quad would be leaning backwards then at the same angle you had moving forward?
my name is richard litt - my current drone is iflight nazgul5 v2 - i have removed all the FPV hardware from this drone - i plan to fly LOS - similiar to my previous RC fuel helicopter experience. Your videos are very helpful - Acro Tutorial Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. Looking foward to flying my drone in LOS.
I started with a syma x5c, then I went to a modded syma x5c then I went to a tiny whoop (Mobula 6) now I fly a 3' quad, maybe one day I'll have a 5' quad but tbh the 3' seems like a sweet spot.
Great video! LOS has always been hard. Especially as the distance increases. Hopefully I can watch and learn how to perform some of the great maneuvers you do.
I never could get into fpv quad flying, I hate wearing the goggles! I've took the camera off my 3inch racer, put some led strips on the arms... Now I have a sick Los quad! It's soo much fun to fly
ok awsome thank you ...one more question i ripped the pin out by accident the part were you plug your usb into your flight controller..now im screwed i guess is there any other way to set the pids ..they are on stock and also set on dshot 600..you think ill be ok? or do i have to buy a new fc now? or should i just fly like that?
There are some ways to get around broken USB, but they are difficult. Also ways to get around tuning through radio, but need to be able to access the FC. On stock with defaults and dshot600 you are probably going to be just fine though, so as long as it still flies reasonably I say it's fine :)
hey nice video i am new to this hobby i bought a eachine wizard x220 and whenever i am trying to fly this quad is taking right side or left side it is not hovering perfectly is there any problem with the quad or do i have to self level the stock settings
I flew self level quads for about 2 years, learned to fly acro in about 5 minutes when I first tried it. As long as you can wrap your head around how you have to handle the sticks in each mode I don't think self level flying will hurt your skills
Nice vid, it's certainly going to help a lot of people. Coordinated turns have always been a problem for me whilst in LOS acro. Quad always slides out of the turn due to not enough roll input then I over correct and crash nearly every time. It'll be interesting to hear your thoughts on that in a future video. Orientation for me is no problem in self level, just problematic in acro. FPV acro is a breeze in comparison. Must practice LOS more.
Great video! I have a question, since I recently started fpv and want to learn los T the same time, I’m confused on how you execute a turn. In fpv, we need to do coordinated turn by mixing roll and yaw, however in this video, it said using yaw only. Does this mean the yaw rotation in this video is around the inertial z axis? I tried on my sim, and I couldn’t turn unless I have some roll input
Is your transmitter wrapped or painted or did it come like that? Or did you just paint it yourself cuz it looks really good and I want to do that to mine I want to wrap it or paint it or something that looks so cool
I agree. Alot of people who have been or even some beginners who are flying drones, make it look easy. Drones are very unique because unlike any other RC software and firmware are in the mix. If you adjust a setting wrong, you could mess things up real bad. Beta flight can be alot to take in. I myself just got into drones so quite the learning curve. Bought a Mobula6 to practice with. 😁
Quick question how to adjust the throttle when drone keeps going up and down when holding throttle stick in one spot I'm new and cant figure out how to get it to hover like your doing
Throttle management is most important so you do not panic! most people panic big time due to sound and power. I will concentrate to teach power management for a while and then movements
Perfect Perfect Perfect i start to fly acro mode two Weeks ago and every Lipo I fly is getting better. Please explain how you fly these small curves with the quad nose down. I can not wait to watch part 2. Best regards from Germany
Finally have an acro quad to learn on a Walkera 110, I figured a good start as opposed to destroying a very expensive quad. These acro lessons are awesome! Why do some experienced flyers say LOS acro is very difficult? Didn’t look difficult on this video!
The jumper T85G trans is like 79 bucks would this be adequate for acro...not sure.are there any better lower priced trans I can use.I see a lot of transus brands being used
Anti gravity ramps the I gain up when you do quick throttle moves, so it keeps the nose steady on throttle punches. I don't use the mode, but set it through the CLI to about 4.5
Great video 👌. I have a Dromida Ominous, before I clicked on the video I wondered if it would be good for acro training lol. I'd love to see you use the Ominous in a training video to see what it can do in your hands. Looking forward to part 2. Thx Dod.
Yeah, a toy quad like that which offers arco mode would be great to learn on, especially with the awesome orientation of it. My Ominus is pretty much broken though :/
Keep in mind that if you get too close to yourself or are going away too fast, you should just disarm, a quad falling from less than 10 m will usually have no damage above soft dirt or grass.
Hello. I would love to learn from these videos but I do not understand English. I'm Brazilian and I do not speak your language. Do you have text on how to fly drones? the texts I could be translated more easily.
Dave Pierce im trying hard lol i dont use sims dont have a pc capable enough 4 it but im stuck in horizon mode really trying to break into full acro but cant seem to catch it lol moderatly high winds n flying brushless micros is fairly hard tho my rodeo struggles ... ive only been a piolot since january but this is soo addicting los or fpv
Hi Raw ... both actually. I just couldn't afford FPV for quite a while so I was into LOS for most of this time. I now have my Fat Sharks and love FPV. Unfortunately, when you get to my age, learning comes a little harder and this changing in mid-stream has been a B##$&*. But I'm determined.
Hey RC, I have a question for you or anyone that knows the answer please? I have a King Kong flyegg 100 and in beta flight And I use the taranis x9d. I was in beta flight and I was setting up my switch modes and I setup the arm mode and I saw angle mode and I set that up to a switch so when I fly this quad and I turn on the angel mode the quad does not tilt and stop like you say it will. I must be doing something wrong but I don’t know what? If I understand this correctly that when you turn on angle mode the quad should tilt a little and stop from gliding in direction you was flying in correct? If I am right then why is it not stopping from gliding in angle mode? Thank you for sharing and your help I hope to hear back from you or anyone that knows what I am doing wrong thank you.
The RCAddict Thank you for replying, you know how on mini quads that when you are moving forward and you let off the stick and it stops in its place? Is there a way to that on a quad through beta flight? Because when I let off the stick it does level out but it will keep gliding forward and I have to tap the stick backwards to stop it from gliding in that direction it was going. Thank you
I had a nano qx 3d and in manual mode it was super hard to even keep the thing flying and I could pull off a single flip but it felt impossible to do the things I see in videos. Is that due to its micro size? Are quads like in this video easier to control in acro?
The RCAddict Sort of but the issue was middle throttle was motors neutral not active and up would spin the motors one way and down would reverse the spin of the motors. So to do a flip you would have to throttle up then roll and throttle down while upside down then roll again and throttle back up. I might just jump into a 4 or 5 inch and try it out since it really isn't expensive like you said once you have your power supply, charger, batteries, radio and receivers. I appreciate the reply though!
I bought one of those mini quads and i broke the motor when trying to clean it and now im buying a new flight controller and upgraded racestar motors and maybe a new frame because i destroyed mine im gonna buy a furibee f3 flight controller so that i could have acro mode
Ahhhhhhh I found it. I wish I knew you had these vids here to begin with!! Had to go waaaaayy back in the day to find these gems. Thanks man! Now I feel stupid and like I'm not a true fan for commenting and asking on several of your vids for tips on LOS flying.... whoops!
Definitely a need, helped me a lot. Thanks RCAddict!
Yeah, moving at your own pace is a big one :)
Just finished setting up.. Now need to charge up 7 of 1500 mah 3S battery.. Man, I need one of those parallel charger. One at time is killing me ;(
Get a board dude £6.99 UK a must with these quads. :)

I've flown level mode for about 2 years and advanced from cheap toy brushed quads to more advanced brushless, but always have been in awe of acro mode pilots. Especially race videos. For sure try to make the switch!
Me after getting into the basics of FPV with my Whoop :
"Lets try LOS"
'sees Video'
"Abort Mission soldier"
Thanks for video series. Los is harder than fpv i find. When in fpv, you're always in pilot view.
Yeah, orientation never changes in FPV.
FPV scares me, i fear ending up in a tree or something. with LOS i know exactly where my quad is.
@@jodroboxes Yeah if your video ever just dies ur screwed... I feel the same way.... Although I can't afford FPV goggles anyway an have yet to even try FPV mode xD
But the shit you can do LOS freestyle is FAR better and more awesome to see than FPV freestyle.
It`s definitely harder, but FPV is much easier if you can fly a bit of LOS, in my oh so super duper humble opinion :)
@@jodroboxes be one with the quad
Really glad it helps man!
Thanks for the video. Can you share the adjustments for each flight modes? The adjustments in transmitters ( ranges) thanks.
So glad your doing LoS Acro tutorial I'm always super impressed with your LoS acro flying, looking forward to part 2 and more.
Yeah, throttle control is great to get down LOS. Easier to see elevation change when out of the goggles :)
With my ancient eyesight, different colour props or lights don't really help with orientation. What does help is to put a fin on the model. Maybe I've been flying fixed wing too long.
Been flying LOS for two years about to get my first fpv in 2 days! Going to rock
Hi, I'm just beginning my journey of line of sight quad flying.
I've been flying FPV now for a few years and fancy another learning curve..........
Thanks for the info
besides just los flying you do a amazing job of explaining how the controls on acro mode work, thanks
Thanks
Haha no problem :)
4:35 out of curiosity. Can you change the sticks operation? like (flip the two so they do what the other did, vice versa?)
Mustle meet and orientation couloirs help and a Brite lite.
Fantastic Class friend.... congrats!!! Im having throbles to learn acro mode in my cinelog 35. Thanks so much.
The RCAddict - I’m referring to angle mode NOT angle of the quadcopter
Thanks Seth. Great information for some of us moving from micro to acro piloting.
That is normal behaviour and how my quad acts.
Ty if anything you explain some exercises I can do too practice orientation. I use ornge on the front I found I see it the best in most environments.
Yeah, orange is also a great color.
I know that the inductirx tiny whoops have a built in acro mode, I used a dx6 transmitter and one of the switches turned on acro mode.
I have the MJX Bugs 3 and it has a large front LED that you can see from quite a distance, I find this is great for orientation. The other obvious way is to watch which way the quad is tilting!
Cheers
Yep, LEDs are great to help.
That's awesome man!
Nice. I'm glad that you also use the "imagine being in the pilot seat".
I was always wondering if it's the best apporach or if there's something better.
Yeah, nothing is best in general, whatever works for you is best for you :)
awesome video. I just wish you did a comparison between the three modes.
this is really really really helpful compared to other videos on this subject.thank you so much for clarity to understand angle/acro and horizon....
You are the sickest los flyer i have seen! Keep it up
Thanks RC Addict, I bet that will be the hardest video for you to make considering its second nature to you now. Really looking forward to your next tutorials even if it's just a case of watching your stick cam and you shouting out your manoeuvres. Cheers!
Yeah, hard to not just do some flips here and there lol
Nice video for LOS tutorial, how you keep hover with throttle below 50% and so steady?
50% is not hover, it's 50% motor output. Practice
Yeah, starting small and not crashing is much better than trying to go big and breaking everything.
I want to know how to build a LOS drone and bind a flyskia i6 to it. i can't find any videos on it. any suggestions?
I'm not familiar with the telemetry, but you should be able to use your radio trims to work out the drift?
That is acro, I am mixing in roll as well to complete these turns. Sounds like your accelerometer isn't calibrated to level.
The RCAddict yea no it’s not.. I can’t get connected to betaflight. Don’t think I have the data cable of that USB type. But so if you were to pitch forward in Acro mode and then do a 180 with the yaw, your quad would be leaning backwards then at the same angle you had moving forward?
@@LJT9393 Yep
I got a little 3inch quad and it's kinda hard to fly line of sight acro because it can be hard to see the orientation of the quad
The actual parts begins exactly at 8:00 :)
OlitoniFX 00:00 actually 😉 lol
Flying is a 8:00, but you should know some basics before trying to fly hehe
my name is richard litt - my current drone is iflight nazgul5 v2 - i have removed all the FPV hardware from this drone - i plan to fly LOS - similiar to my previous RC fuel helicopter experience.
Yeah, orientation can be a b@#*h at longer distances.
Wow, once you started moving left and then right, I’m like, this guys good! But then you moved forward, and then backward and my mind was blown!!!
On stock with defaults and dshot600 you are probably going to be just fine though, so as long as it still flies reasonably I say it's fine :)
ok i guess I'm just gonna have to try and see how it flies..thank you
hi. i can flight helicopters (not 3d, rolls flips and loops and litle up-side-down). you think i can flight a quad?
If it is a 4ch helicopter you should be fine.
if you can fly a collective pitch heli, quads in acro mode air easy :D (I started with CP helis too)
thx. any help with orientation?
It's super snappy what esc and motor do I need to build this. Would you or any of subscribers tell me how I can build such a snappy small drone?
hey nice video i am new to this hobby i bought a eachine wizard x220 and whenever i am trying to fly this quad is taking right side or left side it is not hovering perfectly is there any problem with the quad or do i have to self level the stock settings
I flew self level quads for about 2 years, learned to fly acro in about 5 minutes when I first tried it. As long as you can wrap your head around how you have to handle the sticks in each mode I don't think self level flying will hurt your skills
Thanks for the input :)
Yeah, sliding out needs more roll and pitch. I do banked turns in part 2
Looking forward to that. I'll get it one day. So little time to practice at the moment :(
Great video!
I took the electronics out of it and painted the shell a long time ago.
This is a great video! I just bought the tbs oblivion RTF combo. I still have a long way to go in learning to fly. It’s my first racing drone!
It's something you'll learn. If descending raise throttle slightly, if ascending lower throttle slightly.
@@TheRCAddict ok imma go work on that thank you for the fast reply
@@TheRCAddict earned a sub from me
i thought quads had the gryo stabilizzers and gps position to stick at when you let go of controler ? or these acro quads dont have?
Those are for aerial photography, very different purpose. (ps they aren't real quads ;) )
I would like to ask if the visual hover throttle is always kept at 30%?
Thanks, out of all the videos I've watched, this one has helped me the most. Thanks for that!
Awesome! Glad it helped :)
Yeah, it's so awesome to learn new things! Part 2 covers banked turns more.
Finally have an acro quad to learn on a Walkera 110, I figured a good start as opposed to destroying a very expensive quad. These acro lessons are awesome! Why do some experienced flyers say LOS acro is very difficult? Didn’t look difficult on this video!
It's really hard too keep orientation for many people.
The jumper T85G trans is like 79 bucks would this be adequate for acro...not sure.are there any better lower priced trans I can use.I see a lot of transus brands being used
Mod definition was really helpful fun how few go over the basics P.S what is anti-gravity on a naze 32 board
Anti gravity ramps the I gain up when you do quick throttle moves, so it keeps the nose steady on throttle punches. I don't use the mode, but set it through the CLI to about 4.5
thank you
default rate 1&0.7 was too hard for melowered to 0.3& 0.88 and weird Yaw was higher with 1.5 & 0.6 for me at beginning.
I would recommend starting of with a latrax alias awesome quad really resistable begginer drone its not a racer but it has acro/expert
Expensive and outdated today. Easier to use a free simulator and go right to a higher quality machine.
Keep in mind that if you get too close to yourself or are going away too fast, you should just disarm, a quad falling from less than 10 m will usually have no damage above soft dirt or grass.
Dope tutorial. What's your opinion on the tbs crossfire please?
Seems like a great system, however seems to be some trouble when 4+ users are flying together at a race.
The RCAddict
I always fly on my own, I didn't know. Cheers.
Thanks a million! I’m brand new to Acro and that was a great demonstration!
Hello. I would love to learn from these videos but I do not understand English. I'm Brazilian and I do not speak your language. Do you have text on how to fly drones? the texts I could be translated more easily.
Sorry but no I do not
The RCAddict thanks
Another very helpful video ... I'm just now trying to undo a year of flying in horizon mode. Great timing on this ...
Thanks much!
Dave Pierce , I'm right there with you. If only I'd been able to start learning 30 years ago.
Amen ... Tinker Toys were fun though ...
hah. No doubt about it.
Excellent video really helpful, clear and well produced. Skills
I'd like to record myself flying. I'm curious as to what your using to film?
Angle mode keeps it at a fixed angle at full stick, about 45 deg. It won't keep it in place relative to the ground, you have to do that.
Thank you
You would have to have GPS functions for that. Just fly in full acro mode from the beginning, you will thank your self later.
The RCAddict But I don’t have GPS on the mini quads.
Then it won't actively stop in place. Sorry but that's how it works.
I had a nano qx 3d and in manual mode it was super hard to even keep the thing flying and I could pull off a single flip but it felt impossible to do the things I see in videos. Is that due to its micro size? Are quads like in this video easier to control in acro?
Having more power is going to help to a certain degree, are the rates slow on it though?
The RCAddict Sort of but the issue was middle throttle was motors neutral not active and up would spin the motors one way and down would reverse the spin of the motors. So to do a flip you would have to throttle up then roll and throttle down while upside down then roll again and throttle back up. I might just jump into a 4 or 5 inch and try it out since it really isn't expensive like you said once you have your power supply, charger, batteries, radio and receivers. I appreciate the reply though!
LOS is the way to go since EU regulation is not allowing you to fly FPV without a spotter. I find this tuto very helpful, thx
Great. This video will help people learn to fly los acro. Keep them coming guy. Your good at it.
Thanks :)
So glad I found a LOS flyer better than warthox (quadmovr) and you actually speak! Your LOS is amazing even if you think your always rusty!
appreciate it but no chance I'm better than quad haha
I bought one of those mini quads and i broke the motor when trying to clean it and now im buying a new flight controller and upgraded racestar motors and maybe a new frame because i destroyed mine im gonna buy a furibee f3 flight controller so that i could have acro mode
Awesome job trying to explain it live! I'm going to try the technique. Acro has been my white elephant since I left the toy world.
Great education Sir, love your style
great very informative......will be good to see Part 2
Ahhhhhhh I found it. I wish I knew you had these vids here to begin with!! Had to go waaaaayy back in the day to find these gems. Thanks man! Now I feel stupid and like I'm not a true fan for commenting and asking on several of your vids for tips on LOS flying.... whoops!
