Often the fpv beginner's temptation is to land in line of sight and thus remove the mask inflight. I think the transition inflight is pretty disturbing and end up in a crash. Is it something you do often?
it isnt no. mainly because i have really bad eyesight but my mate njtech can switch from fpv to los, iv seen him do it when someone blasted his video... i just usually crash
I can fly pretty good FPV but not LOS. My biggest problem is getting the orientation right. I can do LOS if the back is facing me. I can even do that in acro but the minute I try to face myself the quad gets a little too close, I panic and disarm. I need to practice in Velocidrone. The physics in that sim suck in my opinion.
I wonder why you didn't mention Freerider as a Sim ?? It's been around forever .. it was the first sim I got. I did install Currykitten but haven't tried it yet. Another Sim, which also requires 'Steam' is the DRL Sim .. but I think that one is more geared to racing than acro/freestyle. I think there's quite a bit of disparity in the 2 flying styles. Those who are good racers are not necessarily good freestyle pilots .. and vice/versa. A long time ago, there was a good freestyler named 'Charpu' (still some YT vids of his online). He's the one who got me to build my 1st quad (ZMR250 - 3S - 1806 motors) and, of course, I had to have a Taranis X9D+ to go along with it (which I still have). I'd had a break in my flying from my competition fixed wing days (where I flew Mode 1) .. so when I started flying quads, I just went with Mode 2 (all the toy grade TXs were set up that way). I flew a lot of toy grade quads (all LOS) which helped when I flew other quads. Still not good at Acro .. need some more time on a Sim. Perhaps its too late for this old dog to learn new tricks, as I've been flying RC craft for 60 years, going back to single channel days. Cheers!
I would have mentioned freerider but the last time i tried it the physics were massively out. maybe they have fixed that now. I have the drl sim. feels more like an arcade game and dont find it too realistic either
LOS is stupid hard! For me i just cant keep the orientation of a quad (front vs back vs sides) even using your body orientation trick. Planes are a bit easier for me to fly LOS with, but still difficult. Thanks for your great videos and tutorials!
Especially on toothpick or micros outside in acro. Lose orientation at few feet because you can't see which side is front...lol. I can in angle mode only on those tiny things.
When you "get in trouble" you don't need to disarm .. you can just switch to Angle mode instead and the quad is perfectly stable. Why would you crash it into the ground instead ?
depends how you define what get in trouble is. Trees dont care about angle mode. getting too close to property or injuring a person its better to disarm and damage the quad than potentially hitting someone or something but 3 mistakes high sure angle might work... or u might still crash
I'm halfway where you are. I can do some tricks los sight, powerloops all directions and even the "suicide trick" (blip the throttle when upside-down) but somehow I can't take a corner properly los. But switch it to angle mode and I race across the field a foot above the grass making orbits and corners like a pro. Put on a goggle and now I can't fly in angle mode.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@AndyRCchannel hmm no, i mean yaw the vertical stab keeps the front of the plane pointing in the direction of flight one could code a digital vertical stab for betaflight, that would make los much easier
@@marc_frank oh thats interesting. I find the yaw is the one thing thats way more locked on a quad than a plane but as i said in the vid everyones different
@@AndyRCchannel yeah it is more locked, but you have to steer it yourself completely when flying a plane i like to bank and yank, but if i do that with a quad los it goes all over the place XD
@@marc_frank ah yes. bank and yank is good for beginner planes however some instructors iv come across only teach that and its not ideal. biplanes for example need a lot of rudder on the turn or something similar happens to what a quad would do with bank and yank. Coordinated turn as its called is a skill needed for both fixed wing and quads. But if you are flying your quads fpv you must be doing coordinated turn, so I think you can transfer the skill to los :) just an idea though. If you are happy with what you are doing there is no right or wrong. its all about the smiles
Theres no such thing as LOS!!!!! Its a myth!!! Lmao! No, not really, but damn is it hard. Now I am learning fixed wing so I am figuring it out. But after flying FPV, LOS is very hard.
its just a trail for now but hopefully might generate some much needed income if things go well. also skillshare is brilliant i feel like neo having knowledge uploaded haha

Just a suggestion, it's a pity you say nobody watches until the end. I certainly do. All the best with things, I'm honestly not trying to work you up here.
@@LookingForEntertainment112 thanks for watching to the end. its only one a month at the moment anyways and if im no good to them it will stop but ill chat to see if they are fine with them at the end. Great Feedback
Are you using same rates LOS as FPV and what rates?
The rates are shown in the video just before the sim starts. Cheers
@@AndyRCchannel I've must have looked away that second. 🤪👍
Try moving your position in space like I do in the vid. Works for me. Thanks for watching
Thanks for this video.
Forward and backwards and side to side where my bread and butter for quite some time 😅😊
Looks good.Line of sight no problem for me seeing i fly helicopters.
@8:42 George Washington's face is in the clouds, center screen above the trees. Is this a conspiracy? Is this real life?😆 Thx Andy! Great video!
haha thats funny
Thanks for your great videos and tutorials!
its just practice really is all I can say. It was super hard for me as well then one day it just becomes second nature
try to put a light were the camera would be it worked great for me bro hope it helps
Especially on toothpick or micros outside in acro. Lose orientation at few feet because you can't see which side is front...lol. I can in angle mode only on those tiny things.
is this a re-upload im ive seen this video already
It's a rehash
When you "get in trouble" you don't need to disarm .. you can just switch to Angle mode instead and the quad is perfectly stable.
Why would you crash it into the ground instead ?
depends how you define what get in trouble is. Trees dont care about angle mode. getting too close to property or injuring a person its better to disarm and damage the quad than potentially hitting someone or something but 3 mistakes high sure angle might work... or u might still crash
@@AndyRCchannel so very true andy
Looks good bro, greetings team #bckflp
@14:18 That's a great point.
yeah the current bmfa certs for multirotors are currently LOS however i think they are looking to change that
Hi Andy. Have you seen Quadmovr's Quad rocket. He is the L.O.S Master. Peace out man.
Yeah he is an alien
I'm halfway where you are. I can do some tricks los sight, powerloops all directions and even the "suicide trick" (blip the throttle when upside-down) but somehow I can't take a corner properly los.
But switch it to angle mode and I race across the field a foot above the grass making orbits and corners like a pro. Put on a goggle and now I can't fly in angle mode.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
just practice. it is difficult until it is not anymore :)
Weird how a tx16s is used for simulators but for irl los its a flysky. Amazing line of sight tho!
It's a rehash of an old video
@@AndyRCchannel oh my bad, sorry. Subbed tho!
Nothing on the market like this anymore, hard to find something similar
the quad you mean?
@@AndyRCchannel Yep, something compact but yet still using standard size components and is able to take a bit of abuse. Perfect for LOS basically.
still sucks on LOS :( Lost orientation too fast lol
the difference between drone and plane los is that the drone doesn't self align forward to forward
that's why it's harder
I think you mean angle of attack? planes do have that problem its just more catastrophic for a quad
@@AndyRCchannel
hmm no, i mean yaw
the vertical stab keeps the front of the plane pointing in the direction of flight
one could code a digital vertical stab for betaflight, that would make los much easier
@@marc_frank oh thats interesting. I find the yaw is the one thing thats way more locked on a quad than a plane but as i said in the vid everyones different
@@AndyRCchannel yeah it is more locked, but you have to steer it yourself completely
when flying a plane i like to bank and yank, but if i do that with a quad los it goes all over the place XD
If you are happy with what you are doing there is no right or wrong. its all about the smiles
flying LOS acro is really hard😬
nahhhh its not. practice is key.
That is not true, RUclips recommends older videos a lot for me!
Theres no such thing as LOS!!!!! Its a myth!!! Lmao! No, not really, but damn is it hard. Now I am learning fixed wing so I am figuring it out. But after flying FPV, LOS is very hard.
Yep.. los on quad is easier compared to heli..
Can't and won't Los lol
Wow, paid ads...good to see
its just a trail for now but hopefully might generate some much needed income if things go well. also skillshare is brilliant i feel like neo having knowledge uploaded haha
@AndyRC I haven't used skillshare yet; I will soon.
@@pacificnorthwestpilots6050 click the link and try the premium as theres different levels and premium unlocks everything. u can easily learn a course in an hour for most of them. I think the fusion course i like is 7 hours
Great video as always, but if you want to see pure witchcraft Los flying, Check QUADMOVR... pretty sure you,ll be holding all his beers.. Thank me later.
If you aren't aware of that guy then you are not in the hobby. But I don't see any tutorials? He also has the luxury of not having to worry about smashing the model to review it. So the Los u see in my videos is very conservative. You might also consider trying to talk while doing what he does ;-)
@@AndyRCchannel no he doesn't do tutorials which is a shame, iv asked him multiple times but he's not interested. But one of the best Los pilots iv seen. But the question is, would he fly totally opposite in Fpv...🤔
