- Inside The $12 Million Pilatus PC24 Private Jet
Intro
The Pilatus PC24 is simply unique. It’s the only aircraft combining the versatility of a turboprop with the cabin size of a medium-light jet, and the performance of a light jet. It’s a plane that simply doesn’t fit into any of the existing business jet categories. That’s why Pilatus had to create a new one: the Super Versatile Jet category. The Pilatus PC24 has been engineered to be “off-road” compatible from the beginning. Its outstanding short-field performance, even on unpaved runways, opens up an incredible level of mobility.
Overview & History
The Pilatus PC-24 was unveiled in May 2013 and deliveries began five years later in April 2018, making it a one-of-a-kind offering in the private jet business. It does not strictly fit into any current aircraft category. It features the cabin space of a midsize jet, the performance of a light jet, and the maneuverability of a turboprop. This has prompted Pilatus to design a new category for the PC-24, dubbed the Super Versatile Jet. It has a strong short-field performance and can land and take off on dirt runways.
Interior
The Pilatus PC-24 has a continuous level floor with a cabin height maximum of 5 ft 1 in, comfortable leathers, and rare oak cupboards with unique designs. Once seated, the chairs rotate in numerous orientations and the armrests on both sides fold down, making it much simpler to converse within the cabin. Of course, when an aircraft is designated the Super Versatile Jet, you expect it to apply to every part of the aircraft, including the cabin. The aircraft can be outfitted purely for freight, medical evacuations, or as a 10-seat commuter service. A typical business jet arrangement on the Pilatus PC-24 will include either six or eight seats. The Pilatus PC-24 has ample capacity inside, with a cabin volume of 501 cubic feet and a luggage compartment of 90 cubic feet, along with a cargo door wide enough for a pallet.
Cockpit
The PC-24, like all Pilatus aircraft, is approved for single-pilot operation, which is quite unusual in this category of aircraft. Pilatus accomplished this by designing an efficient and user-friendly cockpit configuration. The cockpit has been designed to lessen the pilot's burden, allowing for increased safety and complete situational awareness. If you charter the aircraft, you will nearly always find two pilots in the front, but if you are a pilot who wants to split your time between the front and the back, this aircraft has you covered.
Pilatus has installed their Advanced Cockpit Environment on the PC-24. According to Pilatus, it "is so capable and provides such a wealth of functionality that in its most basic configuration it boasts the most intuitive and user-friendly cockpit concepts ever seen in business aviation." The PC-24 has four 12-inch displays that allow the pilot (or pilots) to organize all pertinent information most conveniently and effectively. A Synthetic Vision System, Autothrottle, Graphical Flight Planning, Traffic Collision Avoidance System, and Localiser Performance with Vertical guiding capabilities are all featured in the Pilatus Advanced
Cockpit Environment.
Performance
The Pilatus PC-24 is propelled by two rear-mounted Williams FJ44-4A turbofan engines, each capable of delivering 3,420 lbf of torque and 6,840 lbf total. These engines have a maximum cruise speed of 440 knots and a maximum range of 2,000 nautical miles. The take-off and landing distances are quite outstanding, at only 2,930 and 2,370 feet or 900 and 720 meters respectively. The benefit of these figures is that the PC-24 can reach significantly more airports than any other aircraft of its size.
For example, there are around 11,500 paved airports accessible with a take-off distance of 2,930 feet globally. When you include airports that are at least 2,930 feet long and unpaved (grass or gravel), the total number of accessible airports rises by over 20,000.
Charter Cost
Chartering the PC-24 is a fantastic alternative if you want to travel someplace off the main path, or if you want to fly between big airports yet want a comfortable and smooth aircraft. The hourly cost of chartering the PC-24 is expected to be a little more than $4,000.
Purchase Cost
The starting price for a new Pilatus PC-24 ranges from 9 to 12 million dollars. If a used PC-24 is more to your taste, unfortunately it won't be much less expensive, even if you can locate one for sale! Because of the shortage of airplanes, used aircraft for sale are few and far between.

Pilatus, PLEASE make a PC-24ER with about ~2,500nm of range. It would be the most liberating jet in existence!
Sure, and have it cruise at Mach 7 and have VTOL. Edited to add: the original comment had 25,000 nautical miles of range. That's what my sarcastic reply was referring to. It's been edited to 2,500 and that isn't out of the question at all - Honda has presented a mockup of the 2600, with that number referring to the range. I hope that, by the time they certify it, I can afford one.

Great aircraft had the pleasure of flying in one a couple of months ago, it’s an absolute gem!
Why
We've had no problem landing at Lakewood, NJ (N12) & it's runway length is 2912 feet. I would highly recommend the PC24 to anybody that flies and also to charter companies. Like the narrator said, you'll be able to get your clients closer to their actual destination.
I was in the factory of Pilatus, its huge !!!
I work at PPG Aerospace and we make all of Pilatus' windshields and side windows, its so nice to see how great this vehicle is and It makes me proud to make components for these incredible planes =)
Only one word, AWESOME👍👍👍
So they made the PC 12 then the PC 24 , i can't wait for the PC 48 ! I love this 24 !
I'm convinced I MUST Have one!

I agree! Without a doubt, this aircraft will blaze a new trail in the market if you guys can double the range with little to no changes! Other than that, she is absolutely REMARKABLE!! Way to go PILATUS! 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
Imagine one of these with optional fuel tanks that could go about 9000-1000km, you could get anywhere in the world in relative style and comfort.
Sales Taxes on 12 million is a lot of money
I remember when the PC-12 cost 3.5M and this one had a cost of 7M.💔Anyways, couldn't buy one before and can't now...
Be optimistic!
I recently started working for Williams International as a machinist and just started looking up all the different planes our engines go in, truly fascinating.
Are williams engines considered one of the better engines in the light jet market? Just curious..
No wonder we just ordered a bunch of them for air ambulance service.
It's not the choice aircraft of the RFDS, it was built on their specifications.

Abraço de 🇵🇹 parabéns
Can you fit them with rolce royce engines?
Amin ya Allah 🤲🤲🤲🤲🏼🤲🏼
$12Million and there is no real bathroom. F! That!
how are the 12 and 24 almost the same cost?
The 24 costs $12 million, while the 12 NGX costs $4.5 to $5 million
Why do the wings look so small?
its not the size that matters.... its how you use it..... gigity
Anyone that has 12m to spend should think about buying an Embraer Praetor 500 for 17m instead, because imo if they have 12m they can come up with 17m, the 500 crosses oceans with no worries just peace and relaxation.

Actually this is totally made in Portugal at the OGMA factory near Lisbon. Which is great, because these Portuguese guys have the chops for it: they do the maintenance for hundreds of jet engines for some of the great air companies and most demanding Air Forces.
surely not made in portugal!
@@camorraII1 Yes it is made in Portugal. I've been at the OGMA factory in Alverca, near Lisbon in a business trip. Sorry but I know what I am talking about.
@@onlinesmartservices6661 It's not made in Portugal. All Pilatus PC-24 are made in Stans, Switzerland. The interior furniture is usually added overseas (seats and so on). Pilatus does not have a factory in Portugal
@@ilan9588 Sorry, yes it is. OGMA doesn't build furniture, it is an aerospace company who does composites, fuselage, maintenance of planes, parts and yes - planes. Its factory has more than 2000 workers and has a large campus. What Pilatus does it is what many other companies do: design the product, and then subcontract the manufacturing.
@@onlinesmartservices6661 That's incorrect. Pilatus has a large manufacturing plant in Stans, Switzerland. They manufacture ALL their aircraft there. How do I know? I work there...
There are some parts we outsource, but it makes up a mere few percents. More than 90% of the parts are made here and all aircraft are assembled here in the headquarters.

I work at an airport and we had a PC24 that has 40 hours of total flight time and its already broken 😂 “critical system fault” looks fantastic though!
What caused the issue? I love aviation but my knowledge is very minimal. Any answers would be greatly appreciated!
@@cwisted5308 the pilots blew multiple fuses by completing the shutdown procedure incorrectly. They tried to shut the engines down after turning off the power. Whoops! They actually got one engine shut off but had to go out and manually turn off engine #2. That’s what our mechanics said.
I appreciate the response! I’ve always been interested in learning about this stuff but don’t know much yet. Is the Pilatus considered a top tier plane? I’ve heard some good things about them

Il preffer to have the lavatory in the back
I know will take space but if someone taking sh in front it will smell in pilot cabin and in main cabin
U need flush on toilet
I believe they have an electric vacuum flush which would take care of the smell. Also, the toilet being right behind the cockpit is far more practical and safe. Pilots also have to use the toilet too and if you only have one pilot, which will be the case often since the PC24 is single pilot certified, I'd rather not have them go all the way back every time they have to go.
@@cinemantics231 If it's single pilot flying, he/she won't be using the toilet even if it's on autopilot! LOL

Knots, nautical miles? Speak english 🙂
Knots and nautical miles are aviation English.
Study harder.
The range is horrible! For a 12 million price tag! I expect atleast 3,500 natical miles.
So, you want a plane that's been optimized for short field / unpaved performance, with large cargo doors, flat floors and a more voluminous interior, and with decent speeds, but you also want it to go 3500 nm? If only life is about wishful thinking and having to never make trade-offs. FYI, the Praetor 600 has a range of 3100 nm, but a price tag of 21 million. Horrible isn't it? I expect that at that price range, you'll expect it to travel at least7000 nm, eh? LOL.
No jet in this price range offers that. The absolute best in the class is the SyberJet SJ30, with 2500 nautical miles, but you get almost no payload with that. Other than that, the best you can hope for is 2000 miles - Embraer Phenom 300E, Cessna Citation CJ4, Pilatus PC-24... Those are the leaders. All the rest have even less range.
@@wojciechmuras553 No you're wrong because you missed Bombardier Challenger 300 with a range of 3,567 Miles, that is in the same price point as the planes you mentioned! Also the gulfstream g450 used condition are for sale for 12 million but the plane is 12 years old! The Bombardier Challenger 300 is by far, the best plane for money and range and payload,Go check it out!
@@wojciechmuras553 Good luck trying to find a pilot for a syber plane let alone a pilot for a pilatus and also embraer has a huge pilot shortage for all their planes!
@@ZackWolfMusic True, but it's also a much larger, two pilot aircraft. It's not a competitor.
