What’s in My Hospital (Postpartum) Bag

- Today’s video is all about what I’ve packed in my hospital bag for my postpartum stay and going home with a brand new baby! Currently posting this from the hospital and I can report back that I used everything I brought! Anything you would add or didn’t think to pack? Let me know in the comments below!
The only thing I forgot to mention was a mask. With the pandemic it will more than likely be expected that you and your partner have a mask on for at least some part of your stay. We picked up some disposable ones from target (of course) to have on hand.
I also brought thank you notes so I could write them and leave them before exiting the hospital. One less thing to think about when I get home.

"Picture me naked, or.... don't" I loved that. It made me laugh on the inside.
I'm looking forward to the video on stuff to ask for.
She updated on Instagram that she had the baby Wednesday night and everything went great! ❤️ I believe she also said they get to go home today 😍
Thanks for the update!

My youngest is about to be 2. This is the first pregnancy video I have watched since I had her. I was pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. Our little boy had multiple issues and didn't make it. Then while that was taking place during the csection I began to hemorrhage very badly. My baby boys umbilical cord grew through my uterus and into my bladder, and a couple places on my intestines. I was super super lucky to survive. Due to what occurred I had to have a full hysterectomy. It has taken alot bigger of a toll on me than I originally thought it would. I really didn't expect to mourn and grieve anything other than my child. How wrong I was. I started to find myself upset about not being able to have anymore children, even though we weren't planning on having another. I felt like not having the option to have another baby made me less than somehow. I felt like not having any of my female organs made me less than. It has been really hard and still now right before the 2 year anniversary of everything I still feel things aren't healed yet. I honestly don't know if i will ever feel whole again. I lost so much that day, but we have our perfect beautiful baby girl who is gonna be 2 soon as well as our big girl who is 3 and a half.
Ok wow I gave rambled on for awhile now, I just wanted to say that I have always loved these baby videos. Even at times when I wasn't pregnant I enjoyed them, but now I can't begin to think of watching one because I know how ot will make me feel. Your videos are great and I thoroughly enjoyed them during my last pregnancy and would have with my previous pregnancy if I had discovered you at that time. I just wanted to say thank you for your videos and all the awesome tips and advice. My goal is to come to the point where I can get through one of these videos and enjoy it. Right now I barely got through this one but because of my love of babies and motherhood I just wanna have the ability to enjoy a video without crying and feeling as though I'm missing a big part of myself. I know I will never get over losing my son but, I would like to get to where I feel at peace with it. I also cannot wait until I feel content with the fact I cannot have anymore children. I have been blessed with 3 healthy perfect babies and so many women aren't able to bare one. So I know how very lucky I am but I still have a sadness that I can't seem to shake off. Ok I'm truly down running my mouth. Thx again for your videos and congratulations on your big bouncing beautiful baby who I hope comes soon for your sake lol. God bless you and yours ❤🙏✌
I would just like to add thank you all so much for all of the kind words and I hope you know it is absolutely awesome to see so many people just stop and leave a 💗 it truly means so very much. Bless you all and your families X❤X❤

I wish u all the best in ur labor and delivery! I watch every one of your videos and you make me feel so comfortable! Everything will be just fine! 💜
This may be my favorite video to date! Tons of good info, and hilarious! Congrats on your little one!
I love the Auden brand and my nursing bra. Also the sweet L&D nurse I had was so amazing and she was like take all of these things. She gave us so much toiletries because we ended up in the hospital earlier than we expected due to preterm labor. She also gave me a "hair wash" at bedside because I wasn't feeling my best due to sweating and being stuck in bed for a few days trying to keep baby in a little longer. I'm so grateful for her and all of the wonderful staff that we had taking care of us.
You're my favorite nurse on RUclips!!

Aah congratulations on your baby girl! Literally waiting for our baby girl - due date 8th.. also have a giant in here, she already measured 4,3kg at my last check-up. Thanks for a great video.

Congrats 🎈🍾🎉🎊
Thanks for sharing. First time mom at 34 weeks here. Curious about what is provided at the hospital and can’t wait to see your next video. Congratulations on your 3rd child!
Congratulations!! How wonderful 🥰 it depends on the hospital but ours provided wipes and diapers for baby, mesh undies, pads and ice packs for me, Peri bottle, hair brush for baby, nose and ear syringe, those awesome beverage containers for mom, multiple of those hospital blankets. Chapstick, hair tie, head band for mom. Some other stuff if I remember I will add another comment. I think there maybe was a paper measuring tape so we could measure baby. They also sent us home with a big bag with their emblem on it and inside there was a nursing gown for me, a onesie, hat and sleep gown for baby. I think maybe even a burp cloth. Everything matching. Super cute ❣️
I'm 37+2 with my second baby today and am relating to this video SO MUCH right now!! I love the snarky "I'm-so-over-being-pregnant" energy you're bringing and it's honestly giving me life right now (as the parasitic alien aka baby in my uterus is sucking the life out of me!).
In Australia public hospitals don’t supply much at all, we are told to pack our own maternity pads ect, never been offered a hospital grade pump to start expressing while baby is in nicu for low sugars, they have the basics to dress baby in until you can change Bub yourself but you must return it all before leaving basically if you need it bring your own lol 😂
So my hospital bag is basically a small suitcase lol
@@Nikki30288 Oh if I was taking the pump home I’d just hire one or buy one that’s no issue at all what I meant was, not being offered to use the ones that stay on ward after baby is taken straight from me after birth for multiple hours to nicu for low sugars ect those first few hours after birth and the first feed are critical for bonding and breastfeeding in my opinion 😊
“It’s going to be a party in your pants! The kind of party you want in your pants & the only party that is acceptable to be having in your pants after having a baby!” 😆 I love it!
"Picture me naked ... or DON'T ... " ROTFLMBO!!!
Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful little girl!!! My due date was Wednesday so we're still waiting 😵😅

Amazing video. You are so awesome
Congrats on the baby, she is soooo cute!
I love watching these videos but also plan to pack my bag in labor to give myself something to do 😂 am I a monster? Probably. (In case of emergency my husband has a list of the really important things I need and can run home to grab them, I way over packed for my first and only ended up using like 4 things 😬)
My due date was June 2nd and have been having a week and a half of prodromal labor (also my 3rd baby). I am a vbac patient, so I gave permission for my doctor to do an induction on the 5th (tomorrow). Crossing my fingers it won't take much to get these contractions moving along. Wishing you a smooth and swift labor also ~ we will get to enjoy those sleepless nights sooner than you think ;-) Adding this as I see you had your baby -- congrats!
Let us know how it went!
Praying that everything will work out great for you and your baby. I am 32 weeks and can't wait to meet mine.
Good luck! My due date was June 3rd and it’s now June 5th. I’m pregnant with my first so hoping I start contractions soon!!
We had our little one Saturday the 5th. My water broke early morning 4 am and I didn't need to be induced with pitocin; contractions started about 6 hours later and even with sporadic contractions, was able to make good progress. Baby was out by 5:30 pm.Incredibly intense close to the end without an epidural, but worth it.
Lmao you’re hilarious! I love your videos! Made me crack up 😂
Kyte Baby stuff is amazing! Expensive, but great! Check out their sleep sacks :)
Kyte is the BEST😍😍 they have sales a few times a year, but you can also join buy, sell, trade groups for kyte on Facebook. If you feel guilty about what you spent, you can sell them there because they hold their value so well!
Ooh I just got two of those Auden nursing tanks for this time around. I'm wearing that nursing bra right now lol. I love Auden! Comfortable and supportive.
They are amazing!
She’s so beautiful 🤩 ❤️❤️💗💗💗 I knew it was a girl congratulations 🎊🎉
Watching at 39+2, feeling stir crazy 🤪 Trying to keep distracted. With my first I timed every little contraction in the last couple weeks (I went 41+0) but thankfully this time I know better.
I love your videos!
& I'm so excited to give birth!!
I've been having false labor contractions for 3 days
No not regular painless Braxton Hicks but painful contractions that stop then start up the next day or 12 hours later but don't progress into anything :)
It's been fun*
I have 3 more weeks left!
I am 41+3, 3rd baby too. Don't know the gender either. Hopefully baby will come out soon, so exciting!
Yes I had the pads that come out. I still wear my nursing tanks. I might have to try to find them if I ever go to Target. You videos give me baby fever. My daughter will be 2 in November and also I lost baby via ruptured ectopic pregnancy last November. I had a hard time getting pregnant with my first so idk if I will ever have another, I’m also partner less. I love your videos though. I want to be a nurse midwife but scared to go back to nursing school to go from LPN to RN. Congrats on your baby.

I am currently pregnant with my third child and I am very happy that I found your channel here on RUclips. I am trying to watch all your videos but I would like to make a suggestion... Could you please make a "10 things your labor nurse wants you to know ,DADDY edition" 😏?
Congratulations on your beautiful newborn baby ❤
Hehe... I'm going through the same thing.
Could you do a video on how to introduce the new baby to the older kids?
Another thing I wish I would have had was a hands free pumping bra. My son was born 4 weeks ago and went directly to the NICU. I immediately had to start pumping after I got back from the recovery room post stat c-section. I was so sleepy and it would have been so nice not to have to hold the flanges while pumping every 2-3 hours.
I'm 41 weeks, being induced Wednesday and I feel like I literally cannot take this anymore!!
I highly recommend disposable masks! With the amount of sweating my sister had in labor we went through a whole pack. She would have been miserable in a cloth one. Thankfully we had the papery round kind that doesn't fully touch your face. Because she didn't always realize she was about to puke....
I delivered in December didn't wear a mask except for one time when one staff member asked us too. All the staff did though. They also covid tested me like an hour after delivery. You don't have to wear a mask during labor and delivery.
@@christinajones6500 I don't get your comment.
@@christinajones6500 I obviously know that lol 😆 when I said staff that included everyone else too like housekeeping, dietary etc
@@christinajones6500 social worker called instead of coming into my room
I'm on baby watch now... just waiting. This is baby#5 so I didn't buy a thing either. 😂😂 I'm delivering at a birth center due to the hospital COVID restrictions here. So I do need to take a little more for labor/delivery/pp.
Please include the “unconventional used for free things” in your free things video!!!!
I've had 6 vaginal births and currently 14 weeks with #7. I plan to just wear home whatever I wear to the hospital. I have always packed a bag for me and baby but this time I want to challenge myself not to pack anything at all. I keep my phone, minimal makeup, hair brush, chapstick and ins card in my purse at all times anyway. I want to just grab my purse and go. I'll put a baby outfit in my husbands bag. The husband definitely needs a bag. The hospital supplies everything for mom and baby but doesn't care about dad at all lol. He will pack like hes going on vacation and a picnic lol. I just think it would be fun. I do plan on taking empty bags though to bring back diapers, and pads, and mementos from the birth. The hospital charges your ins for everything in the room and you get the bill so might as well take it home with you.
36 & 3 today :) being induced at 39 weeks I can not wait :)
Congratulations! 💗
@@mintbutterfly10 thank you so much!
Congratulations my 2nd daughter should be here in November (my first baby which is also a girl is nearly going to be 6 months) hahah yes I got prego in a month after giving birth basically .... xD
❤
"Weight known: 47 pounds" 🤣🤣😂😅 I feel that so much
I've just found out my baby is breech and in two days I'm doing a ECV to hopefully flip her around into the right position. I'm nervous about the possibility of a c section as I was so confident in myself to do a vaginal birth and now my birth plan has completely changed.
Where did you get the props for the birth announcement?
Does anyone know of a Dermoplast alternative? They don't seem to sell it here in the UK
I hear people saying the afterbirth gets worse with each one, but I haven't found that to be the case. Currently expecting #7. Maybe after so many it just evens out?
Please add the links to these items! I want that cardigan, nursing tank etc!
Done!
Super helpful - thank you! I've been thinking about what do I need for postpartum (first time going to be a mom here). Any other tips ladies?
First of all congratulations!! That is so exciting! Becoming a mama for the first time, what an amazing journey!!! When is baby due? I highly recommend having whatever you can possibly prepare prepared for when you come home. Anticipate the unexpected too. Have all supplies stocked around your home where you plan to spend most of your time. Make sure you have whatever you are going to need close. Have things set up in your bathroom and bedroom and also a cart or something in your living room. I'm not sure if you're planning on breastfeeding or formula feeding but supplies related to your choice such a breast pads, creams, a hakka or bottles, formula can etc, hair tie and chapstick. Feeding pillows can be helpful such as a boppy or my breastfriend. Also a stool or ottoman for your feet can help prevent back ache during feeds. A stool can also help going to the bathroom be more comfortable in the early post partum. Definitely take the stool softeners and use the Peri bottle. Take all the supplies from your hospital room if you plan to deliver there. Meal prep for a week or two if you can. It's hard but accept help. Let loved ones run errands or make or bring food. Even if they social distance and drop it on the porch. Also hydrate as much as possible. Try to eat while you're feeding the baby. Keep easy to eat snacks with your supplies. ❤️ I have tons more advice because I've learned so much since becoming a mom in 2019 hope this helps!
@@serandapillai7956 thanks! And to answer your question I am due late November, two days before Thanksgiving. Just trying to get my list together before baby gets here. 😊
@@debaterforhim ahh! Yay! Baby will be here before you know it. I had my first son January 2019 and my second son December 2020😍 definitely helps to feel prepared!
Some mamas like wearing the depends after delivery. I hated it and only wore one on ride home. I put my own undies on at home. But the mesh panties were fine for me. Strongly suggest packing a robe or gown to change into at the hospital after delivery. It really helps you feel fresh, comfortable and like yourself.
@@serandapillai7956 I've heard the underwear can leak when taking it off, and instead to get huge pads instead. I think I might get both just in case I like one over the other. Wouldn't hurt to be extra prepared. 😊
Could you make a postpartum bag for a C-section
Elizabeth: “ you can wear just a cardigan for easy access for skin to skin, picture me naked, or dont maybe”
Unfortunately I have to stop breast-feeding earlier then I expected because my kids can’t tolerate breastmilk. How do you stop cold turkey breastfeeding when you don’t pump?
I'm at 37 weeks today and am 6 days more pregnant than i have ever been before and also keep saying I'm the most pregnant I've ever been lol.
Will you show the baby once it's born or will you wait until it's a bit older?
Less than an hour ago she posted in her IG stories showing baby! 💕
I'm 33weeks Monday baby is still breech there's still time for him to flip right??
Mine flipped at least twice between 36 weeks and 39, and finally settled head down at 39 when we went in for the consultation for a c section. They did the ultrasound to make sure he was breech and he was head down so I cancelled the c section and got induced instead... but yes plenty of time, look up spinning babies for things to do I think the best thing is to watch your position when sitting like don’t recline back a lot, that kind of puts them in an easier position to be breech
Pretty sure I didn’t wear “real” shorts/pants until 6mo later. Allllll loose/baggy stuff.
4 months post partum now and I haven't touch them. If I have to look nice I wear a nursing dress 😂
Am I the only one that got cramps up to a year postpartum while breastfeeding? Lol
"Here SHE is"??? I thought you didn't want to know!! 😳
😁
Congrats on your sweet baby!!!
After birth I was so HOT I basically rocked the nursing bra and mesh panties the whole time, and thanks to Covid I couldn’t have visitors anyway and I knew the nurses didn’t care so I just went “almost” naked LOL
How far past the due date has everyone been? My husband only gets 2 weeks paternity leave and I'm scared to take it too early because everyone says your first child will always go past the due date
My first child was 3 weeks early. He should be able to just take off the day you go into labor. Let his office or job know its coming soon. They should be prepared and have someone on call for him as soon as he gets news baby is coming. That's their job to get someone in his place...not his.
@@madeline_honeycutt i know it's their job but they have very specific procedures for asking for paternity leave. We have to give them 30 days advance notice which indicates the dates of his absence stating when he will start and end his paternity leave and then he can extend it "with HR approval" by using his pto time
@@madeline_honeycutt and since there is no way to know exactly when I'll go into labor (unless i have a scheduled c section or induction for whatever reason) i have no idea what dates i should put as his paternity leave. My due date is august 6th but i could be an entire week late or could go earlier.
I went two days over with first son, delivered second son 39 weeks exactly.
@@lisascankdealejo6447 Wow I've never heard of this before. Where I'm at its just always telling your supervisor when things are maybe going to happen and then just bailing the day of labor. Is this in the US? Do you have state paternity leave or is it a company policy? Do you know other people in the company that have taken paternity? Also why is it so short?
You seem stressed 😅🥺
