28 weeks with my first. Gearing up for my baby shower in three weeks. Going to see what happens there first, then come back to your videos and my Amazon list.
I'm actually so glad I watched your video about the counter pressure, helped me survive my first two days of labor, until the doctors made me stay stuck on my back.
I am going in for a 39 week elective induction on Friday (!!) and am just double checking my hospital bag has everything we need either planned for or packed. The more unusual things I am bringing are our Hatch sound machine/night light thing and BOARD GAMES! I might be there for up to like 5 days if I need cervical ripening, so we are packing like it's a weekend vacation to get us from check-in to active labor. Thank you so much for mentioning the supply shortage. I am definitely going to check with my doctor about whether he would like me to bring my own pump or any other supplies.
I’m due next Thursday! I’ve been packing my bag(really procrastinating here!) but I used almost nothing from my bag with my first and I’m hoping now with covid rules that since we won’t have visitors that I will want to feel a little more human! I didn’t even shower at the hospital last time because we had visitors around the clock and by the time they left I was exhausted! I truly think I had a hard time in my initial postpartum period because of this and I’m so grateful this time because of regulations and just my own confidence that we won’t be having visitors at the hospital or at home for awhile! So I’ve got twinkle lights, and all my toiletries and my favorite robe all ready to go! Just want to soak in all the alone time with new baby and husband and this video got me so excited to double check my bag! Haha.
Actually maybe a good idea is even if your partner packed the bag with you sometimes people when it comes to moments like those may not remember exactly where so maybe a list of the items with their location like comb front outside zipper pocket on the green (brand) bag something like that may have helped and then you won't have to try to remember if you packed it or not because if it's not on the list then it's not in the bag!
Taking notes so I can remember: pack the diaper bag with chapstick, portable humidifier, eye mask, earbuds, scrunchies, makeup remover, tennis balls, robe, comfy socks and shoes, twinkle lights, electric candle, batteries, long phone charger, toiletries, changes of clothes, pillow and blanket, heating pad. Thank you for your insight! I'm due mid-July with my first.
My favorite item I brought was my robe! Honestly, once I was able to move with a little less pain (I had a c-section) and was finally ready to take a shower, it helped so much to make me feel like a human again after wearing the hospital gown for so long. I didn't even wear anything under it other than underwear. Easy to feed baby ✅feel like a human✅super comfy✅
Def going to use the peppermint oil, especially in the toilet. Unfortunately, we used lavender oil in the first week of making sanitizer (before govt regulations kicked in), so i associated that smell with A Time Of Extreme Stress and Anxiety
Have you ever done a video on how to work through contractions in the car? I know you have mentioned stopping and working through contractions on the side of the road, but I live about 30 minutes away from the hospital and it is pretty much all freeway... I am not even pregnant and I am already worrying about this!
We had this (in winter). We had a snow storm I was 41 wks and we ended up booking a hotel near the hotel for the night. 🤷♀️ I ended up going into labor that night and was only 5 minutes away.
I am 11 weeks today, planning on a home birth but, I know things can change so I also want to have a labor/hospital bag prepared ☺️. Trying to do as much research as possible 🤣 thanks for the great video!
Packing my bag at the moment. 32+3 days today. We're leaving for my parents' summer cottage in two weeks (several hours away, and you need to go by boat part of the way), so I want to bring my bag there in case baby is VERY early. I'd rather bring it unnecessarily than not having it and actually needing it. 😬 Second baby due 1 of August :)
I love the idea of bringing the candles and the fairy lights. It's definitely something I would like to have during my labor one day. In your experience, is bringing items like these frowned upon or perceived as being a fussy laboring person? I live in The Netherlands and somehow I have this preconception that the hospital staff may look at me funny if I ask to have these in the room... I really want to be able to advocate for myself and my needs instead of worrying about what other people may or may not think.
I don’t think anyone would think you were being too fussy! Especially if your brought the supplies and set them up yourself. I really love when my patients bring special touches like that!
I'm due in July with baby #2. I have had a running list on my phone that I keep adding things too! I think all the time what I would bring differently from my daughter's birth when I didn't know what to expect! My for sure item is wild orange essential oil. My husband put it on a cotton ball for me to inhale and my OB said my pushes were wonderful with the oil! Plan to ensure I have that again!
We are planning a home birth or at least to stay home as long as possible (hospital is less than 5 min away) so I’m not sure what to pack as we won’t be there long if we go at all. But if we don’t go, I won’t get to steal all the free post p supplies! (I live in Canada so I’m not sure we have as many things available as the US anyways). I’ll have to discuss with my midwife and doula.
Depends, earth momma spray, and the Frida mom peri bottle. Motherlove nipple cream, washable breastpads for when milk comes in. I did get a couple night Gowns, a robe, and matching baby stuff from baby be mine. It was really nice to have cute comfy things that were easy to nurse in while in bed. For baby newborn diaper covers (10), mix of prefolds and snapless fitted diapers from nickis diapers, water wipes, I got the snot sucker thing but didn't really need it. Already had nail clippers. Got some copper pearl and muslin swaddles, just used as blankets neither of mine ever liked being swaddled. Obviously baby clothes but I didn't dress him until we went somewhere so that was a while. I got reusable bed pads off Amazon as i knew theyd be useful on my toddlers twin bed after, used bigger old prefolds for the initial shuffle to bed and bathroom from the pool. Already had lots of towels and everything washes up easy peasy. Honestly even with not getting everything listed in the birth kit since I already had things like a fabric tape measure... we still basically used nothing from it. Did use the pool, that was great. 15/10 recommend a doula!! And make freezer food your parter or whoever can heat up for you!
I remember my nice headphones died when waiting for my induction to kick in. Thankfully had packed a spare pair (not great but better than nothing) cause it was hours before my husband could join me.
Music saved my life my first delivery, I can’t imagine if mine died! This time im reminding myself to bring AirPods that charge and a spare corded headphones if those die (I know you said yours were just dead dead)
Absolutely - hands down - disposable diaper underwear for you - like brand Depends on US. I wore them to the hospital when my water broke and on a way to the house bc they were a lot more comfortable than hospital stuff. And used them after - bc I also suffered from being unable to hold my pee for few weeks. Find out what your nipple size is and get yourself some nipple shield for breastfeeding 🤱- lactation specialist came late, didn’t have my size - we had problem latching - I’m not leaving this up to a chance next time! Wasted a lot of precious time where I could have breastfed my child. Fact: I didn’t need any of the extra stuff I bought for postpartum care bc hospital provided everything I needed so I just wasted few $100 on those products and never used them home. Like Frida kit with peri bottle and other stuff and etc. Start taking something like colace as you getting closer to due date on daily basis. If you are doing or end up doing any medicines - you are going to get comsitpated!! It will be a nightmare! Also be ready for your body (feet) to swell up for several days after. We spend a whole week in the hospital bc of jaundice. Make sure you plan for potential long hospital stay - other kids home/ pets and etc. During labor I didn’t care for any extras - just a wet cold rug on my neck/forehead to keep nausea down.
So I'm gonna be honest. I'm due in September and have a list of postpartum supplies that will go in a bag and be in my car in case these supply shortages stay bad.
I've seen someone recently suggest packing two bags. One with essentials you need to bring in with you, and another for "just in case/might be nice to have" to stay in the car.
Honestly, I wish I’d brought less. I didn’t use 90% of what was in my bag. I also kind of loved the Covid restrictions. Having just my husband there 100% of the time was nice. I could just be topless in my recovery room and didn’t worry about clothes.
I wish I could redo my labour now that I have more knowledge about what to expect and what to bring! Unfortunately my next child will have to be via caesarean, so all my vaginal birth knowledge is wasted! 🙄
Ugh, I’m so sorry that you feel like you have wasted knowledge. But we can do so much for your cesarean birth too! Clear drape, music, no outside convos and immediate skin-to-skin!!
I love how my pregnancies seem to coincide with when Nurse Zabe makes another series of videos 🥰🥰🥰
Perfection! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I wish I found your channel sooner but now I'm binging your videos! They're super helpful! 31 weeks today and getting ready to pack my hospital bag.

Great list, if I do say so myself! I hope then rest of your pregnancy and delivery goes smoothly!
I always forget my own blanket when I'm in the hospital. The heating pad though, I'm gonna need that with #5.

Love a good robe!

Ugh, smell associations can be so strong. Definitely not want good vibes for labor!

Love all your videos! Do you happen to have a video on prenatal depression/prepartum depression?
I am 11 weeks today, planning on a home birth but, I know things can change so I also want to have a labor/hospital bag prepared ☺️. Trying to do as much research as possible 🤣 thanks for the great video!
Those candles/twinkle lights are such a good idea. I should start packing my bag lol. Due to have baby girl on June 10th! 💜
Definitely an exciting thing to start as you prepare for your little one! 💗💗
Love me some murder podcasts when I can't sleep...sometimes it feels like we are the same person LOL 😂 😂
😂😂😂😂
Currently loving “to live and die in LA” season 2
Love the idea of the twinkle lights!
They are ✨amazing✨
Today is June 2! Happy birthday to your babe!

Great video. I’m getting ready to start getting things together to pack in my hospital bag. My first baby is due June 15th. 🙂
Congrats!!

June 2nd is my due date as well. Thanks for this video! It’s helpful.
Great birthday!!!
I love your hair! I like your straight bob. I also love your videos.
Anxious purchaser also. Once spent $4 on a single orange in WF 😂
😂😂😂. I would totally do that!
I love that I can label it now, cuz yep, spent $8 on grapes once and was like, these better be the best grapes!!!
I had a baby in September and I work for WIC. I share the same nostalgia when people are due in September this year 😭☺️😭☺️
Awww, I bet!! 💗💗
Your short hair is so cute ❤
Should I let the baby self soothe and cry themself to sleep and if so what month should I start at?
I’m due august 8th with my third girl 🥰 I watched u my whole time with my second baby who is two now.
Congrats! Thanks for hanging around 🤗
@@Nurse_zabe I needed this reminder for the bag and stuff although I’m not quite there yet lol.
Very informative and great delivery (hehe get it?)
Love a good Dad Joke! 😂😂😂
I was so glad I brought a portable, USB chargeable fan!! I was so hot after I gave birth
Fans are amazing for cooling you off in transition and after babe arrives!
Must do as well, I scared a nurse who walked in on me stripped to my mesh undies. All the while my husband was buried under layers of blankets
I remember my nice headphones died when waiting for my induction to kick in.
Thankfully had packed a spare pair (not great but better than nothing) cause it was hours before my husband could join me.
Oooofffff, that would be rough. I’m glad you had a spare. Def good to bring chargers as needed!
@@Nurse_zabe it was dead dead. Just stopped working even charged. Had my super long changing cables too
Noooooo. That is the worst timing EVER!
Music saved my life my first delivery, I can’t imagine if mine died! This time im reminding myself to bring AirPods that charge and a spare corded headphones if those die (I know you said yours were just dead dead)
My due date for my 2nd baby is also June 2nd!! So crazy 😜
Awww! Such a good birthday 😉
Totally random but you remind me so much of Drew Barrymore!

Are you wearing the same shirt as in the video you're watching? That's great😆
It was definitely intentional 😂😂. Couldn’t help myself 😂
