      @@saintamerican6105the reason ppl had 7-15 kids in that time period is because infant mortality rate was 50% meaning that even tho they had 15 children, only half of them likely survived. So they weren't raising & parenting 7-15 kids they were only parenting 3-7 kids bc they likely lost many children in infancy

    With the “cold flashes” I might ask your doctor to check your hemoglobin and iron because that happened a lot to me when I had pretty bad iron deficiency anemia. I got on prescription iron from my doctor and it really helped a lot! I wouldn’t be surprised if you were anemic from pregnancy and bleeding. I learned after my diagnosis that iron is a mineral the body can store for later and if your stores run out and you don’t get enough in your diet to make up for that it can make you anemic pretty quickly. And it can take a long time to rebuild your stores. Which is why I’m on iron pills until next year and I’ve already been taking them a few months.

    I feel like a "when did you start feeling like yourself" question leans towards more mental-state than physical-state... at least that's what I think of. A lot of moms deal with postpartum depression and anxiety and some don't feel like themselves mentally for upwards of a year. If you're reading this as a new mom and living that reality right now, trust me - you will be yourself again. And you got this. ❤

      I think too, women will never be who they are before and society HATES admitting that to postpartum moms. You have transitioned from woman to mother, biologically, there are changes that happen in the brain, you'll never be the same, you have to find the new girl you have become, and it really does take a couple years❤️

    • @valarya
      @valarya 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@corablah9809 A lot of people think they have to give up their identities to have children, so I think what you've said could come across as dangerous, even if I know what you're ultimately getting at. Also motherhood comes in many different shapes/sizes (adoption, step-parenting, etc)... so I think it's important for everyone to know that you can still be You even when you become a parent. 🥰🥰

    • @michelle_juang
      @michelle_juang 9 месяцев назад +3

      After baby 1 I had many different moments of “oh, NOW I feel normal again!” 😂 3 months pp, 6 months pp, 10 months pp…in the end I only truly felt like “myself” again after I stopped breastfeeding and got my cycle back.
      I suddenly had energy again and clicked right back into my exercise routine and the mindset/mood I had had before becoming pregnant. Mentally and physically both had a lot of changes because of pregnancy and breastfeeding.

      I agree totally. I suffered horrendously with my first born with depression for months. In fact I did not bond with her straight away. This is not something people talk about a whole lot. I loved her of course but I didn't feel that strong bond for a while. Not everyone will 'fall in love' straight away. Not knowing that made my depression so much worse as I felt 'alien'. I was so scared to talk to anyone about it because I was afraid everyone would think I was a bad mom. I didn't feel like myself for about 2 years I would say x

    Chinese Medicine tells us that postpartum is a time of cold. It's our job to heal our bodies with warmth and rest. Warming foods, socks and sweaters and more. Being physically chilled just leans towards signs of depletion. Of course, we're trained to go and do and be, but this is the body saying "hey! tend to me too".

    Not a professional, just relaying what a lactation consultant told me about my personal situation. I have painful letdowns. I was also told I have a very aggressive fast flowing let down, as seen by him gulping a ton. They said that can lead to more gas or reflux in some babies. They told me I could pump just a few minutes to save her from the most aggressive letdown and then let her nurse and potentially give her the pumped milk after. I haven't done it because I don't have the bandwith to pump and wash parts at this point postpartum and he is still handling it well.

  • @TheMennomilist
    @TheMennomilist 9 месяцев назад +1

    Yeah, I agree about tearing. I had two episiotomies and when I birthed without being cut and tore slightly this past time, it was soooo much better for the healing. I had to sit carefully on a cushion for three weeks after my first episiotomy and it was awful (he was also a large baby though at 9 lbs, 14 oz). Tearing instead is so much nicer. I bled for four weeks this time around but I think I bled 4-6 weeks after birth for my first children too. I used to not get my period or ovulate again until I was 4 months postpartum, but this past time, I bled again and had my period two weeks after my bleeding stopped (so at six weeks) and now, three months later I haven't had a period again (nursing still), but I KNOW I am ovulating by my mucus! I can tell.
    I loved listening and it is so nice how natural and perfect it has been for you to have your fourth now! I enjoyed listening.

    I would get your sweet babe in for an evaluation for a posterior tongue tie and lip tie. The overactive and painful letdown, gassy belly, acid reflux, etc can all be signs of oral ties. Even though the latch feels good and looks good from the outside, the tongue tie in the back makes it so the tongue can not function properly or make the right motion. This makes more air to be gulped, and it also triggers overactive letdowns and makes for the milk to come out super fast! A pediatric dentist should be able to evaluate and do a laser surgery. ❤

    • @iuliaionce
      @iuliaionce 9 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, I have a 5 week old girl (2nd child), and I'm not kidding every single thing Delilah describes about their breastfeeding situation is exactly the same for us! While she is eating and gaining weight very well, she also has the same.issues with swallowing air, drinking quickly, gassy... she makes clicking sounds, so she doesn't have an "air thight" latch, and we now discovered a light tongue tie, next monday we get it checked by a specialist and maybe cut if necessary and we will see if it helps. 🙏

    • @emilymack6283
      @emilymack6283 9 месяцев назад +2

      @iuliaionce make sure it's a laser revision- it needs to be revised as you have symptoms related to it. The laser revision ( most pediatric dentists can do this) can't reattach as easily as just snipping with a scalpel.

    • @KHomestead
      @KHomestead 9 месяцев назад +3

      Second the suggestion for laser revision vs cutting. Laser can reattach too, but the precision of the revision is usually superior because the site isn't obscured by blood as they're working on it. No matter what you choose, be so diligent about the stretches so you don't have to have it repeated!! Best of luck ❤

Never experienced them before, and this time (sometimes) I feel burning marking the exact moment that the milk comes down. Sometimes it’s as the baby is nursing, but sometimes it’s randomly when I start to think about nursing, or even talk about nursing, or changing my bra, etc. so weird.

    I truly hated the feeling of my letdowns. And it’s not like.. normal pain like shooting, stabbing or throbbing pain.. but it’s like the kind of pain when your leg falls asleep and then you have to move. So it’s just a pretty bizarre kinda feeling.

    I too recently gave birth. It was under two hours from first symptom (water breaking without contractions at first) to him in my arms. I was fortunate not to hemorrhage but I still bled much more than they liked. I knew I probably would (family and personal history) so I told the lab tech to keep attempting placing the iv even though I was pushing. They did the iv pitocin and also gave me some pills to take to help with bleeding. Breastfeeding greatly helped my bleeding decrease but Lord have mercy those afterpains were almost on par with labor. 😅 Glad mine were only bad the first 3 days or so. I needed pain meds for that more than my episiotomy.

    Omg I got the cold flashes PP as well! There were 2 nights where I was genuinely scared because even though I was in bed covered, with socks, pants and a sweater I was still freezing cold and my body could not regulate. I had to ask my husband (who is a walking oven) to hug different parts of my body for about an hour and that finally warmed me. I unfortunately had a hemorrhage 3 weeks after delivery, so that was another reason why my body wasn’t well.

    My let down has been very painful too. Although mine will release and just start spraying all over the place. My right side will come so fast that my baby will choke on the milk. She gets hiccups like crazy and even did when she was in the womb. My baby is 4.5 weeks. Congratulations on your baby girl. We named our daughter Delila Grace. ♥️

      I just had my baby less than a week ago and the BEST thing I can recommend is adult diapers. It is way more “put together” feeling compared to huge pads/mesh underwear.

    I’m in the same boat in terms of painful letdowns. I’m not sure if I’m leaking or not in between but I have pretty painful letdowns too. No clue if it’s normal too hehehe

    My cycles return so quickly too. Even though I breastfeed until the children self wean or during my following pregnancy when my milk dries up

    I always fed from one side per feed unless my babies were showing signs of wanting more then I would give them a top up from the next side.
    My let down was super painful from the side I wasn't feeding from until about 8 weeks. I never leaked or had the need for a beast pad so I figured the pain was from my body holding the milk in on the side bub wasn't feeding from.

    I'm a first time mom, but my let downs were so like prickly!😂 like little stingy and then I'd leak or not depending on length between feedings.

    I just had baby boy #2 on the 24th. I had let downs with my first son and my second. Not unbearable pain. What’s more annoying is when I breast feed I feel nauseous for the first two minutes. I had it with my first too. Baby #2 is a cuddler too and cries if not held. I know that you can’t co sleep technically but I have been finding I have been having to…as well.

    From experience with my babies, it sounds like she’s not getting enough milk, and when you feed her again she settles down. It’s hard to judge when you breast feed. If it’s her tummy, judging from how my babies did, she will pull her legs up in pain.

    All your experiences sound so similar to mine!
    And my LC told me that your body makes more milk with each child so you might be having a more forceful letdown because of that!

    I had a baby that had projectile vomiting and really bad crying spells at night which at the time I attributed to gas, he was diagnosed with reflux and I think we switched him to a non-dairy formula. I had to formula feed due to a neck injury. Anyway, years later he’s had 3 children with food allergies, as infants, so this would definitely be something to check out with your pediatrician. 4 of my grandchildren’s mothers went off dairy and and 2 other foods which took care of their crying.

    I feel as though pain/discomfort around letdown isn't talked about enough! Look into D-MER. Dysphoric milk ejection reflex. I thought I was crazy until I stumbled upon a research study/article 10 months into breastfeeding my 2nd baby that described my symptoms to a T: painful letdowns, an overwhelming sadness lasting 30-60 seconds during the letdown, etc. I thought it had something to do with postpartum depression/anxiety, but it lasted far longer than baby blues did. Once I could put a name to the feeling, describe it, I had a much better perspective on breastfeeding.

      HEY I have this! I only started experiencing it during my third pregnancy, I'm still nursing my first two. I randomly get really sad like I want to cry a minute after latching, doesn't last very long. I told my midwife about it and she had no idea. So cool to hear about it from another breastfeeding Momma! I was hoping it would go away after I give birth since it started halfway through the pregnancy. I'll find out in the next week or two.

My first 4 months . I always wonder why for some women it comes back so soon and for some takes so long, we both breast-feed and cosleep ???

    Pants don't fit me either 😕 I'll have all of my tummy in autumn/winter, which makes it much mor difficult. Also, it's like manufacturers don't believe there are tiny and slim pregnant people out there. So I don't even see such items where I live, neither online. I guess I'll go with warm leggings and long winter dresses or skirts and coats.
    As for the baby having reflux - maybe it would help to put her down in a tilted position. I'm having it now, mostly in the evenings, and I've stopped laying flat entirely. But the tilt might have to be significant, just not so that her head would fall on her chest and constrict breathing.

    I can attest that my letdown this go around (second baby) 21:24 is much more forceful and painful than with my 1st! She also spit up more, and I’m pretty sure it was related to the faster letdown.

    I have gone 14 months no period while breastfeeding, it was great. I wouldn’t say that my letdowns were painful but kinda intense? And with each one I have felt it less and less, and quite the opposite is uterus contractions while breastfeeding, they are more and more painful, I don’t even remember feeling them with my first.

    I passed a blood clot the size of a coin next day. Then two weeks after I passed a blood clot the size of my fist. I was so scared and had to go hospital. The doctor saw me in the emergency room and said I’ll be right back. Turns out he freaked out because he’d just started practicing so he and the senior doctor started to pull more blood clots out with their hands. I also lost nearly 3L of blood after delivery and had to be rushed to theatre because I had a big tear. Lovely birth story 😂😂😂. Congratulations guys 💕
