War Thunder Tips n Tricks - Flightstick wobble 'solve'
You installed your Flight Stick to play some War Thunder...yet it feels all wubbely wobbely making it hard to aim? That's what I experienced, and after searching for a solution online with little to no success. (I doubt there isn't a good video or article, I just didn't find it)
I started trying out all kinds of stuff, and finally found a simple settings adjustment that solved this wobble for 95% for me. Its wasn't the most obvious thing to do, so...
This weeks video is a quick guide to less wobble on your stick :P
Let me know in the comments if it helped you out or not!

It works by eliminating almost all input from the stick when it moves slightly. The only problem I have with using anything other than 100% sensitivity is trying to pull up quickly in a dive before hitting the ground. There will be such a delay in the input that you are unlikely to get your nose up in time. Same thing if someone attacks you from behind, you won’t get your nose up or down fast enough to evade the bullets. Some aircraft are wobblier than others but I found practice the best way to get a steady(ish) aim while keeping sensitivity at 100. I remember when I first started about 3 years ago I couldn’t hit the vehicle on the ground. Now I rarely miss and that’s just from practice rather than changing settings.

I totally agree with you. 100 sensitivity is the best. Using the nonlinear settings will help with minor movements to avoid wobbling too much.

Thank you! Raising the yaw deadzone helped me as well, cause just the slightest twisting movement at all on the yaw axis would start to move the plane. I'm experimenting with which number works the best to eliminate that. Will edit with any findings
Ok, yeah that fixes it. You don't even need to lower pitch and roll because it's entirely a yaw issue. I especially don't recommend in realistic mode because you will crash and not be able to dogfight cause you can't move your plane. So for me my settings are 70% roll, 38% pitch, but you can have them whatever you like that works for you. Yaw however is like the video, 0%, I added the nonlinieriety 1, and deadzone at 0.21. I just kept increasing the deadzone until it felt right for my joystick though, so now it doesn't start to turn the rudder until I twist it enough. So just do the same with your joystick so you set it at a deadzone that makes sense for it to start to turn for your joystick, so it doesn't move your plane at the slightest molecule of pressure lol.
edit 2: don't do 38% pitch lol, terrible for dogfighting, way too low. Got myself killed, lmao do higher

This video helped me a lot, thanks. It's been driving me crazy that I couldn't seem to stabilise my aim with the flight stick, I was ready to give up and go back to a controller. I still have a bit of a skill issue to get over but without the wobble I'm half way there.

I found nonlinearity set to about 2 also improved my slip/wobble a lot. I'm trying to get my HOTAS skills up to par to take on the fly-by-wire, mouse aimers; so thanks a bunch for the control tips!

    • @SirEpifire
      @SirEpifire Год назад

@@Maximartjom Years back I tried to have yaw on the joystick twist axis but it was impossible to make minor corrections without bumping pitch or roll. Yeah just yaw to my pedals. I haven't had a lot of time to get good on them as I'm waiting for funds to buy TrackIR but this kit has been an excellent purchase. One I'd recommend to anyone wanting to get more serious on sim controls.

For the quality, this feels like it should be $450 easily. But it currently runs around $250, which is insane compared to what they used to go for. Fine tuning and train train train. The scheme feels so foreign and so right all at the same time. It's like learning to game for the first time all over again and I've loved every minute of it.

@@mean_wargames_020Just tested it, it does help the problem but it really hurts the ability to quickly make inputs (i.e. you pull stick all the way back and watch in cockpit the pilot is very slowly moving stick back over the course of a second or two)
I am testing it in a jet though so maybe props arent as bad? Wish there was some other way to fix this, no other flight games have this issue heh.
Sadly, it is probably worth taking the hit to input speed so I can at least hit things.

@@viewer54322 Thanks for you're reply! Glad it did sort of help...a bit. In jets you do notice it more then in a prop plane. If I have some time I will have a look to see if we can do any better for the Jets. But like you mention, we are basically limited by Gaijins implementation of the HOTAS controles. So I would not hold my breath for a real solution ;)

Hi CGI Gamer, If you have a very old Joystick, upping the dead zone might feel like its helping, yet I would NOT recommend it. You are actually making you're joystick unsensitive and thus making small corrections is not going to work as good in game anymore. Being able to move the stick with no responds from the plane is just a real No Go.
