    I think the most important tip people almost never mention is that when you're new, you're going to die. You're going to die a lot. BR 1.0-3.0 is populated with tons of very experienced players, either because they find low tier more fun, have a specific vehicle or lineup they really enjoy playing in it, are attracted to the WW2 vehicles, or just plain enjoy seal clubbing. These players will not only be better than you in skill and fully able to spot you even when you're a set of 5 pixels 500 meters away on the left corner of their screen, but they'll also have just diametrically better tanks than you. Their crews will be fully leveled up and their tanks fully spaded, and they'll have a lot of experience using them. When you get seal clubbed, and you will be a lot, don't be disheartened. It happens to everyone and you can only get better and get on the same skill level as these seal clubbers. So just keep trying

    • @Mig29-MF

      As a seal clubber I can confirm.

    • @ausaskar
      @ausaskar Год назад +30

      They give newbies a grace period where they only put them into games with other newbies and incredibly easy bots. Still, even beyond that there's a lot of sealclubbers around, mostly using limited run slightly OP event rewards.

    • @joaogomes9405
      @joaogomes9405 Год назад +61

      @@ausaskar That grace period lasts 5 matches. Unless you plan on quitting the game five matches into it, which honestly not a terrible decision, the majority of your experience in-game for the first 100-200 hours of the game is going to be relentless seal clubbing

    A minor thing about peaking from behind a hill and ping.
    This is actually a scenario where higher ping is an advantage, latency goes both ways, your opponent will see you peeking beyond the hill later than if you were having a low ping.
    It would be a disadvantage if your opponent does the same to you, or when you want to respond to an enemy.

      This is not necessarily the case as the server quite aggressively tracks and corrections your position (think back to any time you've had high ping and packet loss for a visual example). What matters more is the "lines of sight" for each player's guns and their shell trajectories (and by extension: vehicle armour).
      This is also ignoring the rest of the problems with higher ping.

    Squad ping also can be used for alternative distance calculator. Simply ping your enemy, then see at the bottom of the tactical map how long 1 square is. Example: 1 square is 200 and say that your enemy is right in the middle of 5 square ahead (4x200 +100=700). Boom now u know roughly the distance. This is very useful in distance more than 1km and if you have low skill in range finder. Not only it's quicker but also if i am not wrong the manual(without laser/range finder mod) the distance is cap at 1.2km.

    Not only do I hardly ever use third person to fire, I really hate how dirt and especially snow blocks your view while enemies can still hit you.

Also he showed me the weak spots on many vehicles and I'm so glad I can kill a damn tiger with a single shot from a vehicle lower in BR. Silverbullet, u clearly deserve that name, you're a real one

    Just found the channel, good tips. I think one of the biggest, yet undiscussed problems people face is being too anxious/aggressive. Sometimes it's okay to let one kill go if that nets you multiple kills later. Especially when you're simply dealing with someone who's more skilled or in a better position than you, it's okay to find someone else to shoot at if you have little chance of actually winning the confrontation.

    One thing i would mention is you can hold mouse 1 while in your binocular view to keep the gun alinged with the binocular view, this way you can get better picture of the target before firing your gun on the target by coming out of your binocular view by pressing (B=default). This way its easier to get accurate shots through ground clutter. Anyway great tips for people that aren't familiar with the game mechanics

    • @ryanberry_

      I did briefly mention that in the beginning but yeah, I really should have given that point a more detailed explanation. I personally hold click at almost all times when in binos

  • @alexnepu1561
    @alexnepu1561 Год назад +13

    What I really like about the binoculars is that they're always the same zoom level regarding of the vehicle so it's useful for guessing ranges based on the size of the tank in it

  • @SubZero-cv5hk
    @SubZero-cv5hk Год назад +7

    Something I would probably want to add about binoculars: Binoculars are, unlike the gunner sight, stabilized or at least they allow a much more smooth observation of your surroundings while moving. Binoculars also are better to see through, since you don't have a ranging-sight blocking your view. Moving enemies are much easier to spot than enemies standing still and a 'stabilized' observation of your surroundings allow for better recognition of movement in the distance, which again, the binoculars do a much better job at.
    Also - peak around corners in third person before going around corners. It's not game-mechanics abuse, 3rd person view is free for everyone, and while a bit fiddly, it will definitely save your life.
    And a thing about squad markers: Even planes can place down squad markers, but the marker will appear where the nose of the plane is pointing at that very moment. If you are in a fighter, out of ordnance and without enemy planes to chase, you can provide a fairly decent scout for your squad mates on the ground aswell.
    Since knowledge is might, an eye in the sky is a battle half won.
    And in the lower BRs, most 20mm cannons can penetrate engine deck armor and some/most belts include 1 or more AP rounds, and machine gun fire from above can easily distract an enemy and provide a pretty pin-point marking of an enemy position for your squad and teammates, provided you use tracer rounds.

    I wanna add one small thing on the audio part if im not too late is trying to remember and know what you're listening to, each nation's tanks kinda has their distinct sound on low, mid, and high tier. Knowing how atleast each kind of vehicle (Medium, Heavy, Light, TD, etc) sounds can make a world of a difference on how you wanna engage it, especially if you're being sneaky picking the right moments and the right targets to engage is crucial.

    • @ryanberry_

    An extremely useful feature of the binoculars is that you can use them for aiming, great at long ranges or for shooting form behind bushes which obstruct your gun sight. When you press down LMB while looking through the binoculars, the gunner will always move the barrel exactly vertically over the target, regardless of any uneven terrain. You just hold down LMB and then fire instantly by pressing shift to switch to the sight view. This can allow you to shoot long range over hills with no direct line of sight through the gun sight as long as the expected and actual barrel position indicators overlap (the small semi-transparent and opaque circles).

    Here is what I go with:
    1) Play all crew slots. You get 5 with just silver. It doesn't matter if you only have low tier trash left. Any vehicle can cap points. Any vehicle can be a distraction. Any vehicle can spot an enemy with gunfire. It doesn't matter if you already have that vehicle aced, xp still goes towards the grind and improving the crew.
    2) Don't bring aircraft. Aircraft are ok when you already control the map. When you are losing they are terribly expesive respawn point coffins that can't play objectives.
    3) Put others' engine sound to max, your own to minimum. Sound is a massive aid to awareness.
    4) Game going poorly is not a defeat. Quitters sink games, stay in the fight.
    5) Pay attention to bonds shop. There are decent premiums to pick up now and then.

    Ryan, I'm in a squadron thats in top 100... I showed one of your other videos and it got a good response... Could you do a video on how you use your spotting for effect... I have watch many of your videos and how you spot thru walls and terrain and then use that knowledge effectively to get your insane kill totals... I think that would help my squad mates immensely... Thanks again for all your hard work creating these videos.

    Nice tips except I don’t understand your explaining of the binoculars peek a boo shots? I hide behind a crest with only binoculars seeing target and left click like you say to lock view and then hit shift to go to gunner view like you say but when I move to crest hill the sight has now moved from where I left clicked the binoculars view and is now not on target to shoot tank like what happens in your video? What am I doing wrong. Can you explain it better please? (Video reference 1:50)

    • @ryanberry_
      @ryanberry_  5 месяцев назад +1

      Looking over a hill and left clicking with binos, aligns the gun to the physical object you are pointed at over the hill. There is no locking that takes place, just alignment with a direction. This is mainly used to pre-slew the gun and turret closer to the target, and with unstabilized vehicles it is definitely less effective. The goal is to have a faster aim time against a player you're peeking.
      Also the aimpoint will intercept objects like signs and fences n shit, you have to make sure it's directly on the thing you wanna be aiming at. Hope this helps

    "snake oil surround head sets" I've had lots of great stereo head sets. as I was looking for a new set I stumbled across a major sale and snagged them. the 7.1 REALLY works, now instead of left or right and front back locations. I can tell within 15-20 degrees where the enemy is just by the sound. turning my perspective view changes their relative volume. I feel like a bat at times, specially in city/extra hilly terrain. I can pre turn my turret for their peek or that around the corner surprise shot. its completely changed the game for me.

    as a new player, sometimes when my gunner's rangefinding skill can't reach far enough or can't determine the distance, sometimes he or the commander will shout the approximate distance example like when the target is beyond 800m and my rangefinder goes jumbled numbers, the commander will shout "range! 900!" which is kinda useful for me.

    If a vehicle is at a lower br, it doesn't mean it's less capable. In a high teir match, I got 2 kills in the m22 and both were one shots. Its small and mean. The M3 GMC is good from 1.7-9.3 because of its absurd maneuverability and a 75 that pens 87mm along with low armor on the sides for most of these BRs. The M4A3 (105) is a menace against Germany from 2.7-5.7 (possibly 6.0) because its HE overpressures the tiger 1s and panthers and its heat can also pen the upper front plate on the panthers unlike every other sherman (excluding the m51s). Any 152mm kv-2 in general at any br along with any other vehicle with high HE pen (37-83mm of pen). The KV-2 has a weirdly high survivability even at high teir matches. If your having trouble getting through a br or rank, look to your lower br vehicles, you might be surprised with what you find.
    Another tip is to look for a super niche vehicle and then master it because then you can take it out of that niche and become a monster with it.
    Lastly, the games difficulty will eventually go from making you really angry and impatient to calm, patient, and relaxed but only if you let it.

  • @smalhazi

    I actually have a tip for mid-low rank ground rb, especially for newer players, when you ping on a map (or easier and more accurate - use yellow squadron ping ) you can look at minimap and calculate the distance to the target manually in head, usually faster than the rangefinder and over unlimited distances, by looking how much one square on the minimap represents (usually between 150 and 400 metres, but can be more), counting how many squares are between you and the enemy, and then multiplying the count by the width/negth of one square. Also be patient :)

    hi 6000h+ player here with 71% efficiency on thunderskill on 12k battle, i prefer playing without speed of sound so when i hear a gun shot i can look at the direction quickly and see the smoke of the shot to find the ennemy,
    also other tips is don't take full ammo take half or lower if you can, listen a lot and observe a lot know the hot spot on maps and the cold one so you don't get surprised by guy in unkown spot, also explore maps on custom battle to know the limit of the vehicle you are playing and try many type of tanks some can't climb well but other can so be carefull about that, play like you are in Vietnam and everything around you want to kill you even behind you.

  • @OxbowRY
    @OxbowRY Год назад

    I noticed that scouting targets now tell you the distance - this really helps in tanks without a laser and avoids you having to rangefind at times. Got my fair share of distance kills that way

    Position over points is similar to “pick your shots wisely” rather than banging at everything you see regardless of your chances of a kill, and just as important, revealing your position.
    Letting someone pass in silence (maybe calling out on the minimap or using artillery) can be a powerful position.

  • @BlueLightningHawk
    @BlueLightningHawk Год назад +1

    Fun fact, there is 2 different ways to aim artillery, one by using the map and the other is 3rd person camera where you just visually aim where you want it to go. You can toggle between the aiming modes. I can't remember exactly how though since I use map artillery 99% of the time. I imagine the other mode could be useful for line of sight artillery targets though.

    40% for WW2
    18% for Coldwar/ Hightier

    Because I'm so used to default mouse-view aiming option, I use "select machinegun" to hold my main gun when I need it.
    Your main-gun is completely un-selected while on machinegun, and after you reset weapon selection your machineguns rotate back fairly quick anyways.

    My tip is bring tanks, or other vehicles that are similar BR. instead of just starting and grinding for tiger II, you should first find lower BR vehicles that are similar BR and will all be effective at your highest vehicles BR. Bring a light, medium, heavy, spaa, spg. Doesn’t matter, also use your map and play the points, see where your friendly show arnt going and see what tanks are going where. Are you a medium tank and see a bunch of lights with no support push a point? Maybe instead of following all your heavy and medium tanks to other side of the map, be a good teammate. Also use chat, ask for support. Are you in a plane in tank RB? Is there a fighter on your tail? Get low to ground and fly over friendly spaa and either ask in chat or shoot at your SPAA to get their attention.

    Holy. So far one of the best tips I've ever heard. It was really helpful, but one question though, in a scenario where there's like a panther D, T-34 or even a Tiger, where do you exactly fire? Whilst on a Sherman firefly?

    • @ryanberry_
      @ryanberry_  Год назад +1

      3 very different vehicles. I would personally hit the Panther on the mantlet, below the cupola. So commader/gunner side. Then disable the gun if the breech survived the first shot, or hit the transmission if breech is dead. Then continue to bully.
      T-34, just shoot the hull in the center. Tiger 1, also hull center if straight on, turret if angled.
      It all depends on the specific scenario.
