I play on donky kong bongos but it really doesn't matter what you play with as long as you have situational awareness and know somewhat to control your plane your skill as an individual pulls way more than the device you control your plane with
I’m a proud controller advocate, I have around 2500 hours on xbox and do the best in air sim. I currently have a kd ratio in “top tier” (10.7-12.7) of about 3-1. Before PD radars became so prevalent I had a ratio of 220-30 in the mig 21mf. It’s hard, but definitely not impossible to become good at war thunder on controller.
A tip for anyone struggling on controller is to make many control maps. I currently cycle between about 10 control maps that all vary slightly and use/dont functions that a plane may or may not have. For instance my top tier rb setup has no key binds to drop bombs or fire rockets.
Hell yeah man I got 3k hours on Xbox only controller and I maintain a 2.0kd in current top tier I enjoy controller a lot more the PC imo but I am wondering your control maps cause mine have been an accumulation of binds for 7 years lol
@@DougMcgoon for all top tier control maps B does nothing on its own, but B + any other button does a function. For example B+A opens the tactical map, B+RB changes the selected weapons, B+LB is flares, etc
I've played controller for years, the biggest thing that helped me are the following: 1. rebinding the pitch and yaw: I use L2 and L1 for pitch. Yaw is square and circle. Roll is the default right stick movement with throttle default there as well. This is essential to get all the movement you need from your aircraft and help you with maneuvers such as a hammerhead. It also allows you to move your aircraft while you are in free cam 2. Using the touch pad in the middle of the PS4/5 controller is a must. You can swipe your finger to quickly move the circle movement circle and get the full effect of your pitch. Using the left stick is usually slower unless you have very high sensitivity which I don't like to put too high since it makes aiming your guns very difficult. You can also use the touch pad to quickly scan around when holding the "free-cam" key-bind 3. Speaking of free cam, there is a key bind somewhere that allows you to lock your view in free cam, and keeps the direction you are looking, regardless of the direction of your aircraft. I find this extremely useful since its hard to hold a button to free cam while trying to dogfight and maneuver with someone behind you. Using this in combination with #1 allows you to look behind you while maneuvering. For me, I can hold x and rotate my view, it stays where i leave it, and then if I hit x again it goes back to front view. 4. You can use a ton of combinations with your d pad and buttons to rebind other things you may need. For instance, I have right d pad and circle as a bind that cycles my guns so that I only have to bind R2 as shoot and i can cycle between guns, cannons, and all together. You can also use multiple d pad buttons together (such as right and down together) and also add right buttons to those as well, although, 2 d pad buttons together are harder to hit. You can use these combinations to build out your bindings for not as essential things. I would caution to keep most of your movement keys unbound to combinations since I have ran into issues where I am dog fighting and using some sort of combination bind and can no longer use #1 bind to maneuver my aircraft. 5. There is an extremely annoying issue on console where there are some general controls that effect planes AND tanks AND naval craft. For instance, I had to change my zoom key bind from the default of square to R1 in order to have the #1 binds and have yaw. This also effected tanks where I have to use R1 to zoom my tank view as well. VERY annoying. If you are wanting to change your key binds, I would start with #1 bind, then make sure to bind your general controls to something that makes sense to all vehicles you use. You may have to fix a thing or 2 on tanks or naval to be good to go. 6. when rebinding, SAVE YOUR CURRENT CONTROLS and the when finished SAVE YOUR NEW ONES. Nothing is worse than logging in after an update and all your controls are set to default. Hope this helps someone. o7
Bro, you mind sending me a Pic of ur control setup If possible through some type of social media? Trying to get a good setup on my ps5 controller for high air rb and possibly able to be well used as CAS as well? I have a setup rn as well, but it's not really doing well at all, it needs an update
i do stuff like this too, my friends thought i was weird whenever i changed controls on games for the controller, like in minecraft my controller used to drift so i used the left d pad buttons for movement so basically wasd from pc lol, and since i could not touch the joystick i couldnt sprint so i used the l1 button to sprint, changing controls actually makes it feel kinda cool than the normal setting where if you play another game of the sametype you wont feel the same experience as the first time because the buttons do the same thing, like l2 for aim r2 for shoot etc etc, ranted all of this extra bit haha basically wrote this comment to appreicate that you took time to right all of these points to help people out
Holy shit you guys yall got me all the watch hours I needed to get monetized!!! Waiting on RUclips update the channel and then the next video will be out. Thanks all
As a top-tier jet player who exclusively plays on console, you can't imagine how many crazy key binds I have on controller. L2+Left Stick: free look. L2 + down + R3: check 6 while shooting flares and I can maneuver using right stick. L3 + R3 + Up, switch radar to air combat mode. Not to mention I had a keyboard just to control radar BVR mode. Good thing is I can keep my hand on the stick the whole time
You can free up a lot of controls like your Free Look controls by simply changing the meter on your Free Look so you can look straight back. Then have Flares as your free look button + R3. Better ways to bind those controls to free up more for other controls
This proved another thing... Planes don't really equal skill, just because their the same plane, doesn't mean it'll be an even fight, I think it's the matter of time put into the game, so from the very start from hearing you say and show you have 7k hours while the controller player has only 2k I already knew where it was going
Yeah i really wanted to make clear that i should be better all things considered so that the fact that he still got frags on me is a much bigger deal than if i had the same hours as him.
@@TheSystematicPsycho think this also proved that the keyboard and mouse had the advantage. Several of his kills on you was because of your own mistakes. But for example the fact you are able to pull a perfect hammerhead in a Saber most controllers will struggle to pull this off, because the controller fails to respond properly to allow this, as you have to keyring the ailerons to pull this off. Which then takes the keybindings of something else.
@@TheSystematicPsychoI mean hours in a game only matter if it’s quality time learning or playing. Example: you have let’s say 3k hours but you were learning about the aircraft, weaknesses and strengths. But the opponent has 5k hours however they don’t learn the aircraft and just “mess around” just play as play. You can win against that.
@@golacticgamingboyz7044 yes ive for sure played people with the same or more hours and they felt like a less experienced opponent. also not everyone is the same level of competitive. like i might not be the best 1v1 pilot ever but i have hella game sense that the super comp guys dont have.
Finally someone eho understands us console players! I reached rank 6 playing on PS4 sometimes I can't aim because the game zooms in too much and I don't find the keybind to zoom in bit by bit, only zoom wich destroys my aim
Love the fact you're giving us a look at the other side of things. I can from controller, some of the missle locking and stuff at higher tiers gets hard cause you only have so many buttons but still I use to play a lot of top tier on controller back in like 2017
@@TheSystematicPsycho I'm sure you can map it to where you can just press a combo of buttons just by the time I got really top tier and had to worry about all that I ended up with a pc.
@@TheSystematicPsycho This game could easily fix that if they did like any normal game. AC7 also has a lot of tech, but they're divided in primary and secondary weapons, and then a button to switch secondary weapons between regular infrared missiles and any kind of more advanced missiles, guided bombs or whatever. Why don't they just add a menu or simplify the controls? As a newer player who started just 1M ago, it was very difficult to understand all the controls. Why tf are bombs set to a different buttons than AA missiles AG missiles, guided bombs, rockets... They should be all in the secondary weapon button or maybe even like GTA and real life, a button to switch from guns to missile and whatever. I don't think real fighters have 3 different triggers, they just switch between their weaponry. The game has to compromise immersion by adding a menu that deeply improves gameplay, this is a problem in Arma 3 and DCS as well. What's the problem of adding the option to toggle a menu with all the stuff you need? Why have 100 different binds to remember just do basic actions? It's not real life, I can't just do stuff like one does irl. Instead, I have to remember which combination of buttons makes the character fire each individual special weaponry, which ones make it toggle his gun, which one toggles the radar, which one does every little basic action that could easily be added to a much more practical menu. Yeah, leave binding as an option, but add a damn menu for people without 150 buttons
Im a 4000 Hour controller player. Stayed “faithful” and I can proudly say i am a very competent pilot. I believe it’s very nice for Sim too. Better than keyboard and mouse in certain aspects.
KBM with mouse control in AirRB is just more intuitive. The game and controls are far easier to be good with because the game does everything to point the nose at the reticle. Its just easier to make good moves with as a pilot doesn't have to deal with thinking about separate inputs like mixing rudder and ailerons, etc. Controllers have a bonus for being able to go into sim without much set-up change. KBM players are at a huge disadvantage there.
@@TheSystematicPsycho Sim is easy on kbm just remember to change it out of simplified control mode because that just kneecaps your options for flying the plane
I try to play on controller, but at low tier, I feel like my planes turn much slower, bc I can't control the flaps directly, so I feel a disadvantage at dogfights. Is this a general issue or am I just trippin?
I have 4200 hours on PS4, 500 hours on Ps5 and 800 hours on Pc. I can tell you with confidence that pc is so much more superior, it’s insane. Highest kill game I got in air RB on Ps out of those almost 5k hours was 6, and in a couple weeks on pc I had a game with 8 kills. It is so hard to look around you on ps, because without the right binds(and even then) you can’t really manoeuvre, you just gotta fly in a straight line whilst looking around. And when defensive flying, you just gotta do some crazy shit and pray it works because you can’t see behind you.
the ability to dodge while looking backwards isnt stated enough. i can fly defensively perfectly well using nothing but keyboard while holding the C key and looking behind me. being able to maneuver using all control surfaces is a very much needed as you come across better and better players
Get your pilots awareness up and use your map. If you hear their engine and or guns/bullets they are facing you. If you only hear an engine faintly they are above/below/flying away from you. War Thunder also has Doppler effect you can use to your advantage. Also get quick on target switching and your pilot will rubberneck to anyone with just a couple dpad presses while still controlling the craft
Need better bindings. Had multiple games of 6+ kills. The only thing I wished I had better controls for would be to change my controls to full realistic smoother. That’s about it
I really think skill was more of a deciding factor here. It was clear to me from pretty early in the video that BFM theory was not a strong suit for controller man. That was an issue for both sides but more so for controller. For props you went vertical every time in a high energy state. He was about the same speed as you in most cases as far as I can tell yet he did not follow the vertical. This violates the "manoeuvre in relation to your bandit" rule for one and also gives you a clear advantage at the merge every time because you cash your energy for altitude, effectively gaining turn rate without actually losing energy. He didn't seem to spot his mistake either so he kept going into the fight at a massive disadvantage. This theme of lack of understanding of energy states and bandit related manoeuvring seemed to carry into jet fighters. Even in the F4S, he seemed to do better relative movement but was still not quite there. I spotted a few critical mistakes throughout as well, such as 18:02. He should have continued pulling down and continued the 2 circle fight. Not only was he not fast enough to reverse his turn efficiently, he did it late and shouldn't have done it at that speed at all even with correct orientation and timing. If he had continued pulling down he would have gained initiative in the fight, forcing you to react to his moves as well as gaining significant rate from the extra energy picked up on the way down. Even if you reversed into the one circle, you were going significantly slower and would be late to the turn, so he would have had an easy time jinking and from there would have a massive energy advantage he could maintain in the vertical and likely win the fight with. Over all I think this was an unfair test due to the gap in skill. There is good information to be pulled from the video and it does show that just because you are on controller, it does not mean you are destined to fail against PC. But other than that I would say this test is pretty much inconclusive.
One thing i will say about controller is that it is harder to aim with controller - head on like rolling out and then back in at the last second with mouse is a lot easier
I've played WT in PS4 for a long time before moving to PC and duude. The advantage in PC is so noticeable, you can aim, control the plane and even your surroundings way better
The thing about controller is our controls so very limited, so we fx are mostly unable to use free camera unless you make a sick controller layout. Which can cause us to be extremely blind for openings, and well idk if he has this but if he didn't I'd have to say he did pretty damn well
Im a controller player and I have reached German top tier easily and have like a 2:1 K/D on mig21mf even after it got worse because of the br decompression And I also got a 2:1 K/D in the mig29G Console isn’t inferior, it’s just hard to get the right keybinds, I had to adjust them after every tier because you have to play different compared to a lower br. For example I had flares and chaff linked to one button until I got to top tier Because in German planes you generally have to few flares/chaff And then its not good to also waste your chaff when you want to flare and flares while you actually want to chaff. So I had to switch over to use two separate keybinds for chaffing and flaring And because i once again didn’t have enough buttons for that, i had to change like 10 of my keybinds until I had a good setup again
I friggen know and because I was apparently someone else's live performance I couldn't monetize this as my first video. Whatever tho it still went hard! 🤣
Got about 6k hours combined with PS4 and PS5 version of War Thunder. Standard controller only. Biggest issue is the default controls aren’t good enough and most controller players lack a good controller setup. Then people use Mouse Aim as their main maneuver control and you need to bind your Max and Minimum Pitch controls then remap your free look to L1 or L2 (the opposite of what you use for your guns)
I remapped my controller so that my left stick controls pitch and roll, right stick does what left stick normally does to move the mouse circle around, and flares, using this you can now pull off pc maneuvers, takes a bit to get used to since finding the sweet spot on a stick for a certain maneuver may be weird
Interesting video! I never assumed a console player to have an inherent disadvantage in 1v1 dogfights unless they are very new and struggling with the controls, but rather to be prone to getting surprised/losing situational awareness or even panicking when a PC player they didn't see coming suddenly attacks them with an energy advantage. Also i believe having more keys also allows PC players to have more keybinds, which can be useful in rare situations where, for example, turning off your engine to boom and zoom someone who doesn't see you when you have a good energy and altitude advantage. Obviously experience will largely offset any disadvantage, but i'd be interested in the ergonomic and psychological aspects s of playing with a controller. Like how easy it is to check a specific area while doing something else than flying in a straight line, and if console players do situational awareness checks more of less frequent, or if (in low ranks) a player automatically goes into an "i'm gonna lose this"-mentality when jumped by a PC player
We had a talk about this one but I would say except from making quick accurate shots which kbm would be better at it would really come down to personal skill and tactics not so much the input device. 1v1 tank battles just comes down to who hits the first shot.
as an ex controller player with 3000 hours on the dot on xbox, i can say for sure, controller is not bad, and can be quite good, and its actually a really easy way to get into sim with
It’s not abt competitiveness it’s about comfort, no one wants to do a street fighter combo just to chat, controller sucks on jets with all the ballistic computers and radars and load outs
i’m at 1338 hours of war thunder and on console. The only thing that sucks on console is figuring out how to map all the necessary buttons with a limited range of buttons. We need to use activator buttons to switch some stuff. I’m still trying to figure out a best way for air combat where flaps are useable to turn with and you can still use pointer aim control aswel. A good tip for controller players to have a quicker, turn “react” time. Go to controls > Common> Scroll down to sensitivity. Sensitivity in zoom to: 30-48%* depends on how good you are at controlling look sensitivity: 70-99% ( depends on control skil)
I moved to PC after getting one, and I remember that my only issues on controller were flap control and defensive flying because of the problem with free look. So besides that added ability to evade people on my six, nothing changed in my abilities.
I have some over 1,100 hours on WarThunder and have only played on controller and can confidently say its so difficult to get good but it feels so good when you do
"it's a bit of a dorito" Shows the most non dorito looking thing ever. I think about this with the F-22 as well. People call it a dorito but it is the most non dorito looking thing ever.
I came to PC from controller about 10 months ago, I've been playing WT for years and years before that, all on controller. I don't like to feel like I'm bragging, but my friends and I used to dogfight very consistently, and even against things that were superior to me I could pull wins pretty well. I think that there's a few big leaps in controller progression, at least my own, was mapping extra keybinds for things like flaps and the like, and after that was being able to use freelook especially more effectively. All in all, I think at least for ARB I might prefer controller, just a little bit, but for ground and everything else I prefer keyboard.
I was a former controller player for my first 1k hours (now on my 6th), around when the maus and panther 2 was in the tree still (never got it since I was trash) and it was a hardship of being limited on jets and I was relieved when switching to pc. P.S. GAIJIN GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER AND LET ME LINK MY ACCOUNT SO I CAN USE THE MARKETPLACE
Look, my favorite thing to do is type in chat at the start ‘console players are simply superior, and pc players would know that if they spent their money on an education instead of a pc setup”, and they completely lose their minds
For me I just mainly start running out of buttons and ALOT of very important controls for top tier weren’t even bound to any button. I had to spend a good couple hours across tanks, aircraft and helicopters. But luckily wat thunder has the best binding menu that I’ve been able to mess with (because console game usually don’t let you) and I’ve been able to use my L1 as a sort of Function key to roughly double my mappable buttons. I’ve mainly only played ground so far and only need 3 tanks and 1 helicopter to finish those tech trees for Sweden, then I’ll be making the grind focusing on air to get that grippen.
Pc players have the advantage of being able to use analog which gives you slightly more pitch roll and yaw while controller players can use mouse aim most of the time. That’s why I use controller and keyboard
On controller ( I play on the PS5 ) there are settings in Controls to where you can keybind your flaps to engage them manually. I use L2+right to lower and L2+left to raise mine
I am a controller player with over 2000 hours and the one thing I struggle with the most is maneuverability in dogfights and just being able to look around myself while maneuvering because my controls are just kinda stupid but I don’t want to have to go through the work to create and learn new controls so I’m just kinda stuck like this
Back when I was on console I had full real controls set on my right stick and mouse aim on my left stick. Used L2 to activate free look for left stick. Seemed to work pretty well for me
I know that I’m a bit late to the comment section But did he use the lock on feature that controller players have? They can target a certain plane and the plane will sort of not go anywhere else, but the plane
I feel like you should do the same battle in simulator mode as it removes the advantage of mouse aim and actually showcases the pilots skill and adds a better challenge for both sides
im a controler player but im not like some people who geniueanly think one is better thsn the other (in their faivour) and i think this was an awsome video made me subscribe
Tips for controller flyers and this is how I had it setup while I played on console. I had my roll and my throttle on left stick. L2 would activate my mouse look thing whatever its called. Then I set it so L2 also activated the ability to use pitch on my left stick. That way you can view your target while still using your pitch and roll to maneuver.
In short yes because ive fought plenty of competent controller players. however, my preference is keyboard and mouse for air simulator so im not one to judge. It is mostly piloting skill which determines competitive advantage in any given situation so always treat all opponents as though they are the red baron himself. The only major flaw I saw with it is the lack of overall situational awareness so in a furball situation with high target saturation within the vicinity it is harder to keep up without the mouse look for newer players but there are some novel button reassignments for controller at least but not enough to war thunder. I say simulator battles is probably where controller might have an edge because you dont need to turn the head as much. Even when I was playing this game on PS4 for a number of years, I used mouse and keyboard. I have probably over 10,000 hours but don't know exactly how many, i estimate 5000 in match hours according to the war thunder player search of my various accounts by adding the time for realistic battles all up and started August 25th, 2013.
im new to the game can you give me advice on what ammo to use because i seem to not do any damage but i either get 1 tapped and my wing flies off or i get shot out the plane im in t3-t4 area
Look for belts that have he (high explosive) or f (fragmentation) or iai (immediate action incendiary) they blow up! Universal is always good for .50s. air target belts usually have what you need for killing planes.
As a player playing on pc and ps5 its way harder to keep an eye on ur. Surroundings on ps5 and its harder to free look follow ur enemy. While turning in. What results in not always knowing where to follow or dodge enemy bullits and to keep out of his guns while dogfighting.
Did your buddy the 18Gaming person have the aim assist thing they have for console working or should i say on? Plus the console can plug in a keyboard and mouse into the console so they could have the same exact thing as a PC but a tiny advantage with that aim assist console has, No?
Its not aim assist in a literal sence its just being able to lock on to a target and it will track them if you hold the button, which you pc player also get for air, you just need to bind it
Lol this game I have a little under 7k hours have been playing since late 2018 and had in my f5e a 293 to 39 kd but thim i got a talisman and brain dead bombed so it gone now. And i have done it all on controller but i have been playing on a filght stick some the f15 is crazy in sim but. I recommend binding x or a to full pitch up so u can turn tight and un bing activate target point in settings so u can free look win holding x or a to full pull.
i think something fairer is an equal merge w/o taking vertical if you do both of you do so you can see the performance diffs and which control output is more optimized.
I agree but this was more of a "real world" test. You cant really tell from the video but we are adapting to each airframe and tbh I personally am not aware of all the advantages/disadvantages and quirks to each airframe. I am usually a little quicker to pick up on the differences than him but with that said he still pulled frags on me! Definitely a lot of potential on controller.
@@TheSystematicPsycho o gotcha fair enough. yeah the controller is more like a joystick, i'm curious tho what perspective does your friend play in is it first person, cockpit, or third?
as a dcs player i got kinda confused in the later dogfights since you guys began using the f16 in a 1 circle setting thats why the plane is calling AOA since its not made for that but in the last round it was a 2 circle rate fight in the vertical one thing the 16 is perfect at and the performance difference was insane tho... but yeah its weird seeing dogfights in thrid person XD
Yeah I feel like all performance advantages of a plane is out the window when you are fighting the same thing lol it's more like what kind of tricky shit is going to throw your opponent.
I used to play Xbox, got really far in Air for USA (2 years) and Sweden (1 month) but could never break the “Glass floor” into tier 4, played Sweden on a fresh steam account, within 1 week I’m already at tier 3 and researching tier 4 for Sweden Air. It’s pure preference.
Having about 5000 hours on Xbox the one issue I have when dogfighting pc is that console appears to over g quicker because it’s extremely easy to sustain gs
I bought a Razer turret (it's an Xbox one branded accessory but runs perfectly on PS5) and enables play from a couch as it has an included slide out magnetic mouse pad and is heavily weighted to be stable on a lap. I still suck but definitely suck dramatically less than when I'm controller.
We are flying one off fights with random planes so of course I'm not going to be flying them like most people that only play 2-4 planes. I mean all my k/D's speak for themselves. I am for sure the better pilot out of us but the point of the video after all was the fact that he was able to keep me engaged. A lot of the fights drug on for many turns that were cut out for time reasons but most players would lose on the first turn. My verdict was that controller players can absolutely keep up with a pc player if they master it however the PC player can aim better, hit more buttons faster and maintain situational much easier which is much more useful in actual game modes. A controller can sustain a rate fight much cleaner with analog inputs. That's why most controller guys prefer the f16s because that's all you gotta do with her. Just what I've come up with so far on the topic. Everyone has opinions I just have experience.
I have 5700+ hours on Xbox, It took a while but once you get it down it’s not super hard at all, especially when it comes to Sim controller is a lot easier, but overall I would say a good controller player is just as competitive, I mean we’re basically playing fighting games with the strange ass button combos we have to pull off to bind some stuff, for me I usually keep my most important binds as a simple as possible like pitch, msl, guns, zoom etc are all usually one button when in comparison to stuff like wing sweep and etc, as well as double binding certain stuff, weapon selection is relaky good for us controller players since we can bind bombs, rockets and A2A munitions on one key bind, but when it comes down to it the main thing when it comes to controller is about the knowledge of the game.
Hey man I was wondering if you could do a kbm settings vid of all your settings, I’ve recently moved to kbm and I stuffed up all my settings. And coming from a pro it would mean a lot if you made a vid on them🤗
So I just moved from console to pc. And I can tell you I was wiping the floor with people already with console. Now when I did move to pc it kinda felt like I was writing with my left hand. But now I can say I’m confident with my kb&m. I’ve had my pc since about after Black Friday.
Bf3 was my first modern PC game. Went from a near 2.0 kd on console to a 1.3 on PC at first. It takes a little time but ultimately it's superior. PC players tend to be better too.

sadly sims doesn't count as many of the players just play for PVE.
I've played controller for years, the biggest thing that helped me are the following:
1. rebinding the pitch and yaw: I use L2 and L1 for pitch. Yaw is square and circle. Roll is the default right stick movement with throttle default there as well. This is essential to get all the movement you need from your aircraft and help you with maneuvers such as a hammerhead. It also allows you to move your aircraft while you are in free cam
2. You can also use the touch pad to quickly scan around when holding the "free-cam" key-bind
Hope this helps someone. o7

@@TheSystematicPsycho yes my master🙏
As a top-tier jet player who exclusively plays on console, you can't imagine how many crazy key binds I have on controller. L2+Left Stick: free look. L2 + down + R3: check 6 while shooting flares and I can maneuver using right stick. L3 + R3 + Up, switch radar to air combat mode. Not to mention I had a keyboard just to control radar BVR mode. Good thing is I can keep my hand on the stick the whole time
I switched from controller to keyboard and did way better lol, I had a lot of crazy keybinds too.
Why not just use an Acecomabt style control set up like I do?
You can free up a lot of controls like your Free Look controls by simply changing the meter on your Free Look so you can look straight back. Then have Flares as your free look button + R3. Better ways to bind those controls to free up more for other controls
I’m moving into jets so yeah I caved and bought a mouse and keyboard. Can’t be doing anymore crazy binds lmao
@@RyanG-ij8xq Keyboard is just so much better
This proved another thing... Planes don't really equal skill, just because their the same plane, doesn't mean it'll be an even fight, I think it's the matter of time put into the game, so from the very start from hearing you say and show you have 7k hours while the controller player has only 2k I already knew where it was going
Yeah i really wanted to make clear that i should be better all things considered so that the fact that he still got frags on me is a much bigger deal than if i had the same hours as him.
Spot on
@@TheSystematicPsycho think this also proved that the keyboard and mouse had the advantage.

Love the fact you're giving us a look at the other side of things. I can from controller, some of the missle locking and stuff at higher tiers gets hard cause you only have so many buttons but still I use to play a lot of top tier on controller back in like 2017
Yeah the button combos seems to be the most baffling thing for me. Definitely a result of this being a pc title that was ported.

Not only did I learn how good consul players can be, I also learned some fighter maneuvers and when and why to use them. Thx!
Im a 4000 Hour controller player. Stayed “faithful” and I can proudly say i am a very competent pilot. I believe it’s very nice for Sim too. Better than keyboard and mouse in certain aspects.
Yeah I ain't touching sim with kbm I'll plug up my flight stick before I start raw doggin sim mode...
@@gregc9344 yeah it just doesn't offer the precision that id require. Id blame the kbm every time I died 🤣
Those are my biggest issues, I can fuck with my flaps while looking around but it doesn't do much.
the ability to dodge while looking backwards isnt stated enough. i can fly defensively perfectly well using nothing but keyboard while holding the C key and looking behind me. being able to maneuver using all control surfaces is a very much needed as you come across better and better players
Rethink your binds and get a mental image of your 6, and sometimes just look behind you
Get your pilots awareness up and use your map.

I have nearly 8000 hours on War thunder and I have only ever used a playstation controller.
I got close to 14-15k on console over like 6 different accounts been playing since tanks came to the game
One thing i will say about controller is that it is harder to aim with controller - head on like rolling out and then back in at the last second with mouse is a lot easier
100%
I've played WT in PS4 for a long time before moving to PC and duude. The advantage in PC is so noticeable, you can aim, control the plane and even your surroundings way better
You have the ability to see what he's doing behind you. On controller it's much harder to do.
The thing about controller is our controls so very limited, so we fx are mostly unable to use free camera unless you make a sick controller layout. Which can cause us to be extremely blind for openings, and well idk if he has this but if he didn't I'd have to say he did pretty damn well
I abandoned controller around 10.0, as when stuff started get advanced with Radar, i needed the k&m so I could easily deal with all those binds

Im a controller player and I have reached German top tier easily and have like a 2:1 K/D on mig21mf even after it got worse because of the br decompression
And I also got a 2:1 K/D in the mig29G
Console isn’t inferior, it’s just hard to get the right keybinds, I had to adjust them after every tier
because you have to play different compared to a lower br.
For example I had flares and chaff linked to one button until I got to top tier
Because in German planes you generally have to few flares/chaff
And then its not good to also waste your chaff when you want to flare and flares while you actually want to chaff.
So I had to switch over to use two separate keybinds for chaffing and flaring
And because i once again didn’t have enough buttons for that, i had to change like 10 of my keybinds until I had a good setup again

@@TheSystematicPsycho lol I play on the lowest graphic setting as well as the minimal client thats how horrible my pc is
Got about 6k hours combined with PS4 and PS5 version of War Thunder.
What about your setup?
I remapped my controller so that my left stick controls pitch and roll, right stick does what left stick normally does to move the mouse circle around, and flares, using this you can now pull off pc maneuvers, takes a bit to get used to since finding the sweet spot on a stick for a certain maneuver may be weird
DEMON MY BELOVED
Awesome fights on both ends!
Does anyone know what the music is at 19:20? Sounds really familiar.

Here's a suggetion: Keyboard+Mouse vs Controller in ground battles. See wich is better on ground battles.
We had a talk about this one but I would say except from making quick accurate shots which kbm would be better at it would really come down to personal skill and tactics not so much the input device. 1v1 tank battles just comes down to who hits the first shot.
as an ex controller player with 3000 hours on the dot on xbox, i can say for sure, controller is not bad, and can be quite good, and its actually a really easy way to get into sim with
Great vid, good flying on both sides would’ve loved to have been the one in the fight
Its all because PC can free look and fly. It's the main advantage.
My consistent terror of the skies proves that you can ball out on controller
It’s not abt competitiveness it’s about comfort, no one wants to do a street fighter combo just to chat, controller sucks on jets with all the ballistic computers and radars and load outs
Yeah its really all the button combos that make it tough on controller.
i’m at 1338 hours of war thunder and on console.
Sensitivity in zoom to: 30-48%* depends on how good you are at controlling
look sensitivity: 70-99% ( depends on control skil)
I moved to PC after getting one, and I remember that my only issues on controller were flap control and defensive flying because of the problem with free look. So besides that added ability to evade people on my six, nothing changed in my abilities.

One thigs there is that k&b has move buttons compared to controller so theres kind of advantages on both
I was a former controller player for my first 1k hours (now on my 6th), around when the maus and panther 2 was in the tree still (never got it since I was trash) and it was a hardship of being limited on jets and I was relieved when switching to pc.

How you setup your controlls , my only struggle i miss target. I have setup free look key ,but then plane goes straight and im easy traget
Are you on console?
I would really like to see his controller binds, for arb grb and heli’s… could you make this happen?
Seemed to work pretty well for me
What did you use for throttle?
@@RIY2610 I think I had it set to my arrow keys and made it so every press of the button was 10% throttle

As a long time controller player, keyboard and mouse is the best thing that ever happened to me.

Yeah those Phantoms have zero business dogfighting each other lol
Did your buddy the 18Gaming person have the aim assist thing they have for console working or should i say on? Plus the console can plug in a keyboard and mouse into the console so they could have the same exact thing as a PC but a tiny advantage with that aim assist console has, No?
Its not aim assist in a literal sence its just being able to lock on to a target and it will track them if you hold the button, which you pc player also get for air, you just need to bind it
So if I’m on Xbox but have a mouse and keyboard I can play on which should I do?

A lot of the fights drug on for many turns that were cut out for time reasons but most players would lose on the first turn. My verdict was that controller players can absolutely keep up with a pc player if they master it however the PC player can aim better, hit more buttons faster and maintain situational much easier which is much more useful in actual game modes. A controller can sustain a rate fight much cleaner with analog inputs. That's why most controller guys prefer the f16s because that's all you gotta do with her. Just what I've come up with so far on the topic. Everyone has opinions I just have experience.
@@TheSystematicPsycho Its not about planes, but how you using them.

I have 5700+ hours on Xbox, It took a while but once you get it down it’s not super hard at all, especially when it comes to Sim controller is a lot easier, but overall I would say a good controller player is just as competitive, I mean we’re basically playing fighting games with the strange ass button combos we have to pull off to bind some stuff, for me I usually keep my most important binds as a simple as possible like pitch, msl, guns, zoom etc are all usually one button when in comparison to stuff like wing sweep and etc, as well as double binding certain stuff, weapon selection is relaky good for us controller players since we can bind bombs, rockets and A2A munitions on one key bind, but when it comes down to it the main thing when it comes to controller is about the knowledge of the game.
in the first round you raised your nose first before the planes went past each other
Hey man I was wondering if you could do a kbm settings vid of all your settings, I’ve recently moved to kbm and I stuffed up all my settings. And coming from a pro it would mean a lot if you made a vid on them🤗
Yes I will but I'm gunna get a lot of judgement 😂
@@TheSystematicPsycho no one should mind, you’re helping a fellow brother out here☺️
So I just moved from console to pc.
Tried going back to controller from k&m but couldn't even get a match
